How to change LTE band on Samsung S20/+/Ultra
Works on both chipsets.. I saw this tip on the board so I decided to make a clear instruction note on how to use it.
Download QuickShortCutMaker from the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...shortcut&hl=en
Run the app:
Go to Call Settings
Then select the LAST:
Call Screening option should be right after Call Screen Emergency and one up CAMERA
Click on TRY
Click on Top left menu ≡
Select Band Selection
Take a screenshot to make sure you can come back to factory settings in case you have issues.
Pick the band or bands you want, toggle the SELECTION button on the right up corner.
Go back.
You are all set.
I suggest rebooting the phone but this is totally optional.
REMEMBER: YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Down?

today plugin to switch between WCDMA and gsm

Hi.
My battery drains very quickly in my area (HSDPA). But if i force GSM then the battery lasts two or three days and i only need hsdpa 3 or 4 times by day, for example
20010-04-20 (V2.9)
1) The combo box that stores the model keeps the value when the program is restarted.
2) Fixed problems with owner names starting/ending with spaces.
3) other minor bugs
2009-11-27 (V2.8)
1) Compatibility with new Bluetooth Widcomm stack (HTC Touch Pro2, HTC Touch HD2, etc);
2) Compatibility to switch band with HTC Touch HD2
3) Compatibility to switch band with Toshiba TG01
4) switching is faster because now I dont turn radio off, just unregister and register from network. No need to enter automatically PIN code too.
2007-09-25 (V2.4.2)
Compatibility with Kaiser
Changes in 1.2.3:
Fix a bug in 1.2.1-1.2.1. Auto mode didnt work properly and switch delay action too.
Changes in V1.2.2 :
Some GSM operators intercepts http not found requests and redirects to help pages. It can cause unknown effects on bandswith who tries to look for the version number in the response stream.....
Changes in 1.2.1:
Buffer overrun bug in devices with very long radio manufacturer name (caused bandswitch fall).
Bandswith now detects if is running on WM5 or WM6 so now only switch twice if switching from GSM to UMTS band in WM6 devices. So now one only version for WM5 and WM6
Dual line support with two pin codes.
If the password(s) is/are incorrect the device will sound and vibrate and show Pin Page.
Pin enable user: remember to enter pin(s) again after reinstall.

And with gsm i can use real mail but with hsdpa the battery is empty in 5 or 6 hours. I am looking a tool to switch between gsm and hsdpa in today screen. I know that i can do it in phone/options/band but it's very boring. Can someone help me?. If now i will write a little program (today plugin) and i will post it.
Thanks

as far as i know nothing like this exists
Cool Idea.
This is shouldnt be that difficult to achieve...
Use SetHSDPA.exe and link it to the Wireless Manager today plugin. Then everytime you tap the wireless plugin it then turns on/off the HSDPA functionality?
AFAIK band selection can be done changing a setting in registry, so this can be done with mortscript.
1. google SKSchema... it's a program which will allow you to do this (it's not free, but i think the price is awesome for what you can do with it), and download it.
2. Download these scripts that someone else made...
3. Drop the scripts in the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\sScripts directory
4. Go to your phone's Settings, and choose Menu
5. Scroll down and select any of the new scripts (I am personally using the toggle script).
**alternatively, you can assign a button to it
***additionally, I use this program's Soft Reset feature to automatically soft reset my phone at 5 in the morning to make sure that when i get up in the morning the phone had a chance to reboot and has a fresh start...
hope this helps!

Does this solution allow you to switch between 'U' and 'G' on the fly? Meaning it does not need to close one connection to achieve the other and vice-versa.
as far as i can tell from the script it turns on flight mode, toggles between 3g/Edge, depending on which one you had originally when the script was run (by changing the registry settings), and then turning flight mode off...
your phone will search for signal as it normally would...
the whole process takes about 20-25 seconds.
Give skschema a try. They have a trial, so you can try before you get it if you decide to get it. There is also a Today plugin, although i've never used it, so i can't give any input as to how good it is.
in my experience with the phone, any time you change the band selection the phone goes into flight mode
The program is finished and working
Ok. The program is finished.
1) Put it in rom.
2) Create a shortcut and put it in \windows\startup directory.
3) Then you will see a circle icon at botton.
. White circle means Auto mode.
. Green circle means GPRS mode (2g).
. Red circle means UMTS/HSDPA mode(3g).
Tapping this icon a window is showed and you can click one of the next buttons:
auto: Sets auto mode.
GSM: Sets gsm mode.
UMTS: Sets 3g mode.
Close: closes the program.
Then the registry key \\SOFTWARE\\OEM\\UMTS\\OpMode is changed and the radio is reseted. And thats all.
Enjoy it...

That is not necessarily true. If you go into the Band tab to change the selection, it does not need to go into flight mode. It simply disconnects and reconnects with the new selection.
new option
Hi. I ve added a new option.
To avoid forget to switch back to gprs after use hsdpa, when you tap on UMTS appears a dialog about "limit time" with options:
no: No limit
1, 5, 30, 60, 120: After x minutes the system switch back to gprs.
There was a problem cleaning the notification when the app exits......
New release....
Thnx loads. I'll give it a try.
Thanks
danielherrero,
Great job, it's working on my 8525. It's just what I needed thanks.
You' re wellcome....
Thank you. Going to put it on my 8525 as they roll out 3G here in the US I think this will come in very handy.
Take Care!
Weekend App
Well done!!! Thanks...This app works great.
This is my weekend app. As soon as the weekend starts I put the phone into GSM mode only. Battery life is far better. I don't need UTMS on the weekends....when i do....2 clicks and I'm in UTMS...2 more and I'm back to GSM.
I love this plugin! cant get easier to switch auto -> umts, and umts -> auto! thanks!!

[MOD] Galaxy S5 Add Mobile Data Toggle to Quick Settings (Requires Sqlite & Root)

Just a quick note to add that the mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342370 )to add the missing mobiledata toggle back into the notification panel works for the Galaxy S5 once rooted. The older version of sqllite editor in the original thread is not compatible with Android 4.42 however, you can use the new version available in the Playstore ($2.99) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
T-Mobile has the annoying tenancy to remove the mobile data toggle from the notification panel and the latest GS5 and 4.4.2 is no different. Not a huge issue for those that are on the current T-Mobile plans that allow data roaming internationally, but if you are on one of the older T-Mobile plans that don't allow that, or if you are like me planning to use my unlocked T-Mobile GS5 on another network, having that toggle is handy to avoid pricy data overages.
-------------------
As per the original thread, the same instructions apply;
1) Download sqlite editor app from the Playstore. (Older free versions force close on 4.4.2)
2) Open the app and give it root permissions. It should populate a list.
3) Scroll and Tap the "Settings Storage"
4) Tap "Settings.db"
5) Tap "System"
6) Scroll down until you find "notification_panel_active_app_list", tap to highlight it. I noticed its a little hard to get it highlighted because it seems to want to highlight the one under it. So you might have to tap the one right above it to get it highlighted. Make sure its the notification_panel_active_app_list, and NOT the notification_panel_default_active_app_list. I picked the wrong one the first time and it didnt work.
7) Once it is highlighted tap the phones menu button.
8) Tap "Edit Record"
9) You'll see a list of all the toggles that are currently enabled to show in notification area.
10) At the bottom of the list add ; and the words MobileData then another ;. So it will look like this at the end. ;AirplaneMode;MobileData; Then press Save.
11) Reboot and you should have a data toggle now. You can now use the edit feature and move it anywhere you want in the list of toggles.
Note: After I edited it and rebooted the "notification_panel_active_app_list" moved closer to the bottom of the list. So if you go back in and dont see it scroll further down

You can use the old version of SQL. You just need to download TB Restore Fixer.

I downloaded TB Restore Fixer, but SQL still crashed. Can you tell me how you did it to get the older SQL version to work? Really want to add the Data toggle in the notification bar.
Just a related comment I had about turning off Data:
On my AT&T S4, I would frequently use the data toggle for saving the last ~10% of battery after a long day or two of use. I found that simply switching data (and wifi) off saved a ton of battery, keeping my phone alive for emergencies on that last few percent for much longer than it would if I were to allow apps like Facebook to constantly fish for updates.
The power-save icon seems like it "might" do the trick, but I wish it had the option to just fully turn off mobile data instead of "limiting" it.
Once I finally root my device, this will probably be one of the first things I do. Thanks!

Yeah, I just want to be able to turn the data on and off through the notification bar instead of going to the settings.
Got it to work using SQlite Editor version 2.0.1. I now have my mobile data toggle on the notification bar.
Does anyone know the wording to add the hotspot (wifi tether) toggle?
Just an fyi, all the toggles will be baked into the new version of my Project Infinity rom later today.

;WiFiHotspot;
Caps sensitive
SQLite Editor not saving tether settings
I've tried changing my tethering settings but every time I reboot SQLite will revert to previous settings which is preventing use of tethering.
With Samsung Galaxy S5 it looks like some of the values have been changed to some extent. Going through some of the id's values I notice not all the values are consistent, I've notice with some id's 1 will represent disable while 0 represent enabled while with other id's 1 is enabled and 0 represent disabled values.
Im a little confused as to the reason behind such confusion maybe other devs can shed some light as to what is going on here.
Some settings seem to work like changing and adding MobileData and WiFiHotspot values worked with no problem.
Thanks. It worked on my SM GS5.
Thank you so much! Worked on my GS5.
Wish this method would work for adding the flashlight toggle.
Does this work for the AT&T variant of the S5?
Great mod!
worked great sprint S5 SM-G900P!!
download the app here:

not working
It did not work on my GS5 T-Mobile, I rooted my device, downloaded Sqlite, followed all the steps, but when I rebooted my device, the mobile data toggle didnt appear just the normal ones are there

OK found my mistake, I clicked on Notification_panel_applications_for_reset I found the normal one by using the search option and it worked perfectly! Ty so much!
Hello, nice mod, does something similar can be done for Hotspot/Thethering toggle? adding a ;Hotspot; or ;Thethering; ?? Thanks!
I just used the reset one and when I rebooted I reset it and boom it was there. AT&T G900A

Option to enable/disable "Mobile Data Traffic" missing

Hi, I'm a noob when it comes to smart phone setup, but saw the success of people here getting setup on t mobile with the Sonys Z5's so thought I'd give it a try (got an Z5c E5823 from HK).
Anyway, setup went smoothly, except for some reason under settings/wireless & networks/more/mobile networks/ I don't have the option to enable/disable mobile network traffic. It isn't that the row is grayed out, it isn't there at all. There are only four choices in this menu (Data Roaming, Preferred Network Type, Access Point Names, and Service Providers).
Anyone know how to get this selection available? Or, is it in a different place maybe?
Thanks!
Try Settings/"Data usage", it shall be in first row.
Wow, thanks! We are now rocking on t-mobile. No idea why I was so hung up on it being in the other menu.
You can add it to the quick settings buttons (pull down buttons)
When the buttons are shown there is a little (looks like a pencil, with some dots under it), this is the editor for the quick settings panel.
Just drag the Mobile Data button down.
