Error when moving files to SD card. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have being having this error the last days. When I try to move a video file from the Downloads folder to the external SD card I get a message. The action is denied because it doesn't have superuser permissions. I have tried with two different explorers. I am using a BQ Aquaris 10 tablet, with Android 6.0. It happens with just some video files, I could move some others without any problem.

External SD not saving after reboot

I am having a weird problem that I am having a difficult time solving. I am hoping that someone can help me solve it. I have been using SS and HD for a while. I recently graded to NC5 and RLS 19 on Oct 15th. Everything has been running well. I recently went to download a zip file to flash a theme change. After reboot, the file was not on my external SD. After testing here are the symptoms, I can download (via internet or USB cable) to the external SD. I can open open, move, copy, etc. the file. I tested this with ZIP, PDF and TXT files. If I "Reboot", the files are no longer on the external SD. If I "Hotboot", the files are still there. The files will disappear if I "Reboot" after the "Hotboot". If I save files on the SDCARD, they are present after a reboot. I have booted into SS recovery and copied a file from SDCARD to external SD and the file disappears even after reboot. I have root access. I have run NextAPP SDFix and it states "No Action Required". I tried fixing permissions. I have tried physically uninstalling and reinstalling the MicroSD. I have also added a folder to the external SD and is disappears just like the files.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue. I had a bad sdcard. I also have a 64 GB sandisk in my s4.
Good luck
Thank you. I found out that it was the SanDisk micro SD card. I put into the laptop, and I could delete but could not add anything. I bought a new micro SD and it resolved the issue.

Are external SD cards mostly unusable with Android 5.0.2?

Device: Moto E 2015
Android: 5.0.2
Coming from android 4.0 I could manage files on my external SD card using Windows Explorer, AirDroid, or any 3rd party file manager.
Now that I'm using 5.0.2 I cannot manage files on the external SD card using any of those methods. The SD card has over 14 gigs free. The card is formatted and works as Google pushed over my photos and music from the internal SD card fine.
Another problem is I can't move any apps to the SD card. With android 4.0 I could push an app like iBird Pro to the external SD card. Now when I try to push that app to the external SD card it claims there is not enough space. Android storage shows there is over 14 gb free and iBird Pro is under 1 gb.
It would appear that 5.0.2 is a total wreck when trying to make use of the external sd card. *sigh* I hear rumors that M may fix this... if the Moto E 2015 happens to get that update.
You can transfer media to your SD, transfer some apps to SD (if they allow it) But SD write permissions have been a PIA since 4.4.X, so hopefully M does sort it all out.

So basically useless right now. I manage my own media content in a structure I like. Sad. Hopefully M will fix this mess.
Still trying to write to the external sd card. Latest developments.
Moto E 2015
Android 5.0.2
Windows 8.1
Trying to transfer files or create folders on the external SD card in my Moto E 2nd Gen. causes the following error:
"The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected."
What I can do:
Delete folders
Read
Copy from sd card to Windows
What throws the error:
Creating a folder
Copying files to the sd card
On the device itself I cannot get any file manager to write to the external sd card. Apps that try to setup write permissions to the sd card fail. Android itself was able to move photos and music to the sd card when I inserted it into the phone. If I try to move any app to the SD card it says there is not enough space. It has 14gb free.
I finally tried using another computer. The other system is Windows 7 and I was able to created folders and copy files to the external sd card in the phone.
Back to my main system (Windows 8.1) I used USBDeview and cleared ALL usb drivers. Reconnected keyboard and mouse. Then plugged in the phone... same behavior. I have also tried installing Motorola's driver suite and have the same result. I have tried various USB ports on my motherboard both USB 2 and 3.
I'm at loss of what to try next, besides a blunt object to both devices repeatedly.
And I may have just fixed the problem of moving apps to the external SD card.
I erased the card while it was still in the phone. I did this the first time I put it in. I choose NOT to have Android copy over music and photos. Now I can move apps over to the SD card.
However, when trying to create a folder on the SD card from Windows Explorer it just hangs: SD card (Not Responding). It does show "New Folder" after terminating file explorer and looking at the SD card again. And now.... I can rename the folder, create folders, and copy files to the SD card... wtf.
Perhaps the SD card is bad, it is incredibility inconsistent.

I have a 2nd Gen Moto G with Android 5.0.2 and I'm trying to move apps to the SD card as well. I'm a bit confused as to what steps you followed. Are you saying that BECAUSE you erased the SD card and chose not to have Android copy music and photos that you can now move apps to the card? Or are you saying that since reversing your decision and allowing Android to copy over music and photos (and possibly reformatting your erased card?) that you can now move apps to the card? And can you transfer any apps or only certain apps? Are you doing this on your phone or on your computer?
I can transfer certain apps to my SD card on the phone. And using the computer and Windows Explorer I can create a new folder on the SD card. I'm just not sure what steps to take next to transfer the apps to the card, or what impact there might be on data or functionality.

how to put data to ext after upgraded to 6? (solved)

i try to use folder mount after rooted my marshmallow, but the result was error. then i found with file manager hd that after upgrade to marshmallow, while i open sd card, it showing 2 folder, "storage>9c33-6bbd". what it is mean?
is there other way to enable data put to sd card? pls help

similar this problem
Samsung Note 4 just updated to Android 6.0.1.
My SD card used to be /storage/extSdCard, but after the update, is /storage/9C33-6BBD, breaking all internal app links that use the name.
Marshmallow renamed SD card. But now I can't guide the app to the external storage without root.
Set Oruxmaps to the new offline maps path. It appears "Error, Oruxmaps can't write in this directory".
So, no offline maps... I have to move them to internal storage... but there's not enough space.

File rename operation fails in SD card

File rename operation fails when performing the same in SD card.
Any file, like be it a jpg file or any other file, or even folder renaming is getting failed or if it does try to do that sometimes it corrupts the file.
All other operation works fine but renaming files fails every time or it just corrupts the file.
i tried renaming the files on the same sd card using my other mobile, and it worked without any issue and even used an other sd card too.
only while renaming the files on sd card on poco f1 causes errors, so its pretty sure that the issue is with the device and not the sd card.
i am using Samsung class 10 32GB SD CARD and also tried with the class 10 64GB SD CARD.
Even after granting appropriate permissions, there is no solution.
I have tried native file manager, es file explorer and asus file manager, none of them works for it.
I am on the latest miui 10.2.2 stable update with latest android patch.
I just bought this phone some days ago, please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks.

After EMUI 10 update cannot copy/move to SD Card. Any idaes?

Hi.
Now on EMUI 10 after OTA update.
Can access SD Card but cannot copy or move files to it. Have tried various apps including Solid and MiX Explorers. Access granted but action fails.
Any ideas?
i think it's a problem with 3rd party apps, the inbuilt file manager works
Fixed. As posted elsewhere I used FX Explorer to perform a copy to SD Card. I got the OS request to access the card, which I granted. Now, 3rd party apps (Memoria, MiX Explorer & Solid Explorer) can copy/move to the SD Card again ;o)
