Honor 8X EMUI 10 Ringtone directory - Honor 8X Questions & Answers

Just updated to EMUI 10. on my Honor 8X. I cant see the ringtones which I had on my sd card. I could use custom ring tones. I think the directory has changed. I have tried putting the ringtone folder into Sounds fiolder, no joy, I placed my ringtone folder into the music folder. My ring tones do not appear. How do I fix this? Same goes for notifications. Any help and advice with this will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Have you tried installing a 3rd party file manager like MiX Explorer or Solid Explorer? With one or more installed when I change a ringtone/notification tone I get a 'Choose an Action' dialogue from which I pick one of these apps then navigate to the ringtone/notification tone. Just a thought.

No, I want to be able to select ringtones straight from the setting menu. Think it's something to do with the directory folder.. Tried a few different folders but it's still the same

Adding Ringtones after 2003SE upgrade

On the default WM2003 that came with the iMate, i used to copy any *.wma file to my pda, hold click in file explorer and set as ringtone, but after I did the upgrade to WM2003SE this option is gone. Any ideas how to put a wma music file as ringtone.
Thanks
Put it in the windows/rings directory.
Then just go to the normal sounds & Notifications section in settings. Have a look in there and you will see the option for incoming calls.

Custom Text alert sound doesn't show in alert settings

I have tried inserting my own file into the alerts/ringtone directory (Windows/rings) and they do not show up when I try to change it on my Sprint Touch Pro. I have tried wav, and wma as both file types are present in the directory. Any ideas?

Have you tried <My Documents\My Ringtones>? What about saving them as MP3? Stock ROM? How big are these files?
Copy them and then paste into the windows folder. Then they appear as the others do when you select a ringtone as normal. If you look through the windows folder you'll notice the factory ringtones.

That's just because everything goes to <\Windows> during a ROM flash. PROVXML's should move some of the Factory rings to <\Windows\Rings>, but it depends on provider and ROM version. Most custom ROMS have the ringtone packages move the main ringtones to the Rings folder.
WM should search all the mentioned folders for Tones:
<\Windows>
<\Windows\Rings>
<\My Documents\My Ringtones>
<\Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones>
There might be more, but I know for sure these 4 places work.
Thanks for the replies guys. The provider is sprint on a stock rom. Tried all 4 locations to no avail, the file is only 153K. Haven't tried it as mp3 yet gonna have to convert it. I don't know what the deal is I didn't have any problems on my last phone (elf) but my last phone didn't have the rings folder it just dumped everything into the windows folder.
Ok mp3 worked, weird. Anywho.... thanks guys appreciate the input.

[Q] How can I change the "system ringtone" ?

hi all,
I would like to know to can I change the "system ringtone" ? I 've set to max. volume level in Settings\Sound\Volume, but it is still nothing being played. which ogg file is the default one? Is it the sherbet.ogg that i found in media/audio/notifications folder by using Root Explorer?
I want to know this because my GS2 re-boot occasionally. Most of cases are before it re-boot, I can hear the sherbet.ogg rings up periodically. After 2 or 3 times of the strange sound, my GS2 will be re-boot.
So, I want to change the "system ringtone" and record a log file by aLotcat if I hear it again.
Thanks for your help.
On your pc:
Make a system>media>audio>ringtones folder nest.
Copy whatever ringtone into the last folder.
Connect phone via USB.
Copy/paste onto sd card.
No idea about the log file.

I presume you've placed the custom ringtone in the /sdcard/media/audio/notifications folder?
Also, once that's done, you have to wait for the system media scanner to run and find it (you can also just reboot to get it to run). I don't know if there's any way to force it to run on demand other than a reboot.
regards,
Stu.

The problem I am having is it reads /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Notifications fine with "Android system" when I go to Sounds and choose a new notif. These are NOT in internal memory and are NOT on /mnt/sdcard; they are in external_sd.
HOWEVER, it refuses to find/read ringtones on external_sd. I see the media scanner runs fine when I make any changes. I even manually launched it with Dev Tools, and rebooted. It will read ringtones fine IF I put them on sdcard, but for some reason it won't find them if they are under external_sd, yet it finds notifications fine on external_sd!
Strange... anyone know of a solution to this? I want to keep my rings and notifs on the external_sd. Have tried all the various folders, i.e. Ringtones, Phone Ringtones, Media/audio/ringtones... nothing works yet on external_sd for ringtones.
UPDATE: I realized I had a .nomedia file in my dir on the SD. That allows the media scanner to ignore that dir, if you have a reason to do so. (which I did and had totally forgotten about!) I removed the file and the media scanner properly sees my ringers in any dir I put them on external_sd now.
D'Oh!

Can't find ringtone file

Hi, everytime I unmount my sd card, my ringtone changes, because my ringtone is located there, to another ringtone that I want to use, but i don't know where to find it
It isn't any of the system/media folder sounds (alarms, notifications, etc.). At first i thought that it was from handcent sms and when i selected to change notification sound in it, there was this "default reingtone (695)" which is the ringtone I want. But i tried unsinstalling handcent and the ringtone is still there.
If i mount my sd card my ringtone will automatically change back to my current ringtone. Already tried searching with root explorer too.
Please, help me find this ringtone so i can use it.
Confirm your question, do you want to find the file location or want to set your favorite tone?
