Pocophone F1 , Android 10, Miui 11.0.4
Updated to latest version.
Out of the blue all pictures and videos taken with original Camera app are rotated to landscape.
Other apps such as Whatsapp and Instagram are ok.
Also, when you click the Camera app settings menu it also opens in landscape instead of portrait.
Things I've tried so far:
Restart app and phone
Delete cache and data in Camera app
Installed moded Google camera from XDA - same behavior as original Camera app
Any ideas what is causing this? I have googled extensively without results
So this was fixed after turning Auto rotate off and on several times in the main settings :confused

I have a couple of videos in my gallery that are not in the correct orientation when I play them back.
I guess I was holding my S4 strangely while I was capturing them?
Is there a way to change the orientation back?
The videos I want to change playback in portrait mode even though I took them in landscape mode.
I'm running Hyperdrive 8.1, rooted.
I used the stock Camera app for capture and the stock Video app for playback.
There's an app in the play store called "Rotate". Get the paid version (I think its $1.99) this will allow you to set different rotation on a per app basis. There are a bunch of options (global, forced, auto, portrait, landscape, reverse portrait, reverse landscape, ect.....) It even allow you to control your lock screen as well. A lot of great options in this app.

My z5 compact rotates portrait pictures to landscape mode when posting then to Facebook, Instagram or Layout. Sharing them from Galleri or directly in the app makes no difference. Rotating a picture in Facebook, and when saved or/and accepted change it reverts back to landscape mode again. Shooting 20 mpx 16.9 in Auto. Tried turning Auto rotate on and off in settings, no change. Running stock. 152. Anyone else with this issue? Feels like a Sony bug as it happens in different apps...
Edit. With Gallery I meant Album app. Have Google Photo syncing my pics and the wrong rotation appears there to, but if I share pictures from Google Photo to Facebook corrections there works. Turning off the sync in Google Photo has no impact on the problem sharing from Album or directly in Facebook....
I have this problem too
Anybody else having that problem?
Yeah, having the same issue, but not every single picture taken exhibits the wrong orientation.
I did notice though that even though the UI elements in the camera rotate properly to portrait, the APP itself is in landscape. You can tell from the way the nav buttons are turned sideways when you swipe up from the bottom.
I've cleared the cache but it hasn't fixed it.
Turning on Auto-Rotate doesn't change anything either.
If any of you have a Sony Forum account, it's probably worth reporting.

Same issue here. Another not so wonderful thing about this camera.
My camera won't work after flashing CM13. I have Acer Z520.
I tried these things:
*Re-flash
*Tried other camera apps
*Safe Mode
*Wipe Data & Cache
*Force stopped apps associated with camera (sound recorder, etc.)
*Moving to internal storage using local terminal
*App permissions
*Re-Flashed snap camera.
*Uninstalled Snap camera and used other camera apps
And still camera won't work.
Please send a fix because I'm pretty sure this is not a hardware issue because it works on CM12.
Thanks!

This is the ROM. It might have to do with missing files. I dunno I'm dumb.
It forcecloses without giving a force close message.
The screen is just black then closes (like clicking home button)
Videos won't play in the browser but works when full screen.
Im using this rom "https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3857076" and stock camera app doesnt "save" picture after clicking the shutter button. Is this a bug? a restart may or may or may not fix this problem. is there any wrong?

yea the stock gallery is google photos and it doesnt show up in google photos tho. It just takes a picture and does not save it at all!
anyone?
I had the same problem, it's the Gcamra app's fault and you got 3 options.
Go to your Google camera setting and force HDR in all photos.
Download another camera app. (like the MIUI one for example)
(my perfered one) download the modded Google camera and also enforce HDR. While also having a huge amount of settings to play around with.

Hi, may i know where to get the modded gcam app that you speak of? thanks!
I have a little problem with Redmi Note 9 Pro that my dad have.
For some unknown reason stock camera app started acting weirdly. For example after taking photo it freezes for a moment and then crashes but the photo is properly saved and you can open it in the gallery app.
What is more you cannot switch to macro or wide lens cause that makes app to freeze.
I tried to wipe app data from application settings menu and I updated the phone to MIUI 12 hoping that this would solve the problem.
Unfortunately nothing changed.
Does anyone know a way to reinstall this application hopefully without rooting or unlocking phone?
Thanks
Something I found in my armor x5 is the camera does what you state when screen rotation is active. Try disabling screen rotation, this SHOULD fix the prob.

I tried this solution and sadly it doesn't help.
