Hey,
i got the One UI 2 update yesterday.
Since then there is a bar below many apps, that does not seem to support dark mode.+ and wastes a lot of space.
Has anyone found a way to make this bar black/disappear und keep the gesture hint?
Thank you
Is the gesture hint causing it or is it the keyboard button? ?
Why not just turn off Gesture Hints? Completely useless function really. Not needed once you've had the Tab for more than a few days.

The space stays there even when the hints are disabled.
Hints are not really needed, I just like the look more

Oh, so I guess they broke something in the newest update of One UI 2 on the Tab. Sorry, I haven't installed it on my Tab, but it's fine on my S10.
Looks like you were able to get Google Gesture Navigation working. But how? I installed the latest update with Android 10 and UI 2.1 but I'm still not able to activate it. I only can enable "Full Screen Gesture Navigation" but it's not fullscreen (see Screenshot). Any idea how I could enable the Google Gesture Navigation?

I use GoodLock. It allows you to swipe in from the sides to back out of an app and has just the home on the bottom of the screen. I see "other options" is greyed out - are you using a third party launcher? The Android nav implementation only works on Samsung's stock launcher. But with GoodLock, you can still implement the side swipe gestures.

Ah ok, it's an app.. thanks for that
That setting sounds awkward - why would I use these gestures on my Homescreen? Of course I'm using a third party launcher..
But thanks for your information

Not sure which swipe gestures you refer to - swipe up?
After reading this post, I tried Pie but didn't care for how fiddly it was trying to hit the back icon.
So then I found this and am very happy with it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.edgegestures. This, coupled with BX Actions' 'control mode' means Bixby is now my hardware back button (double tap is last app, long press is recents) and Edge Gestures gives me swipe for back.

Im talking about disabling navbar, like in immersive mode and using swipe gestures in the area where the bar was. I did that on my Pixel using Swipe Navigation (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation)
Swiping up from the bottom center acts as home; swiping up from left corner acts as back; swiping up from right corner up acts as recents
EDIT: Something like home gesture on the iPhone X

Clearly not what he's looking for. Currently there's no option to disable it altogether globally. Only option to hide it on a per app basis, which not all apps support.

I was looking for a way to completely disable it but I don't think it's possible without root. I enabled expended mode via ADB but my ultimate goal was to not make it appear when I scroll up from the bottom so I can use apps such as all in one gesture
There are some ways, but i guess they all need root. there is an xposed module : xposed edge pro, that can remove the navbar. or you can change the build.prop hw.mainkeys=1
i did that but the thing is when you completely remove the navbar every app that is not set to 18:9 scaling will not load. just give a black screen. that is not a problem as you can just switch all apps to 18:9 scaling in settings. except some few system dialogs that will not show anymore like the longpress menu when e.g. clicking on a link in chrome or on a message to copy it.
iv been on that issue for a long time now. it is definitely related with completely removing the navbar as the system then does not scale some screens accordingly anymore.
i tried the build.prop, whereas there are more settings related with the screen and ratio (ro.lge.app_scaling=1) (ro.lge.aspect.ratio=18:9) and (qemu.hw.mainkeys=1) i dont know what the first two settings really do but i tried different settings
then there is the possibility via the xposed edge app, which does not change the build.prop. so it hast to change it in some other way, i dont know.
and i found a thread to change scaling via the service menu *#546368#*930# -svc menu -force long display mode -on from this thread.
ive tried all different settings combined in different ways and was not able to remove the navbar without that problem.
if anybody has more knowledge i would be glad to have some help
cheers DK

Agreed. I had an issue with the nav bar NOT appearing when I wanted. It kept disappearing in my corporate email and I had to force it up from the bottom to appear. I was puzzled, why is this happening only with this app? I finally figured out how to go into the nav bar settings and disable that for that app. For some reason that app (called Nine) was enabled to hide the nav bar.
I have the opposite problem. Except for when I'm watching videos, I do want to see the nav bar. This screen is tall enough that I don't need a totally "immersive" experience just reading email or looking at news articles.
And I use Nova launcher, of course. Who uses stock launcher?
There's this guide for a galaxy S8 but I haven't gotten it to work on my V30. I don't know if APKs are device specific or should work for all android devices. I have also been looking for a way to disable my nav bar.

Nobody. Except launchers still have nothing to do with what OP was looking for. I switch between Nova and action launcher and would recommend them to anyone not using as well, just baffled that he asked how to disable navbar entirely and the answer was install Nova...followed by the assertion that he needs to be told this even though its not what he asked and there was nothing to suggest he's not already using a 3rd party launcher

Yeah didn't work for me either. I was hoping APKs were universal to Android.
It seems like there are ways to disable the nav bar without rooting the phone but not yet for the V30. I saw some forums on the OnPlus 5T mentioning some apps that would do it but they didn't exist in my play store for some reason

You can allow specific apps to hide the navbar, or there is a universal as well. It can be found in setting/display/Home Touch Buttons

I found how to hide the nav bar for specific apps months ago (and indeed have all of the available apps flicked to off), but I cannot find the universal switch anywhere. Where exactly is it?
Under Settings/Display/Home Touch Buttons, I only see three options: Button combination, Color, and Hide Home Touch Buttons.
The Hide Home Touch Buttons screen is the one I found months ago, but I don't see a universal switch there.
Thanks.

For me, when I go to Home Touch Buttons in settings and click "Hide Home Touch Buttons" it gives me a list for every app where I can toggle to hide the home buttons. There's also a toggle option at the top of this page that says "Lock/hide icon" -- that's the universal button.
Though this doesn't hide the home buttons on the home screen for me. Does it hide them on the home screen for anyone else? I can't figure out how to do that and my Nova launcher prime doesn't have the option.

Thought that was just the icon that shows up on the left-hand side of the nav bar when in an app where the nav bar can be hidden.
That's not a universal on/off switch for the nav bar system-wide, is it?

Hey Marc did you find any solutions for this??
would be amazing..
Only way I've been able to do this is by using Fluid from play store. You can mimic stock gestures with it. In order to achieve what you want you will need to change to 3 button navigation, enable fluid with whatever gestures you want and hide nav bar via fluid.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid
End result looks something like this.

Is it possible to change the diagonal gesture from Google assistant to something else?
I really like gesture navigation, especially because of screen space, and there's no minimize function in the 3 button navigation which isn't great.
Anyway, would be great to modify the gesture or somehow add the minimize functionality to the 3 button navigation.

I have been using a Magisk module to hide the swipe gesture bar entirely on mine, and had previously used 3 buttons as well (using the gesture because then floating Gboard has more room and no forced space on the side for 3-buttons even when hidden) via "Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures (Q-S), have it set to fully hide the gesture bar, and have been relying on "Xposed Edge Pro" for my actual gesture navigation and customizing of it, since I've changed my Moto G Power 2021 into a Watch (modified build prop to force landscape even by system apps and more ). So have Riru and Lsposed naturally via Magisk as well. Just some ways to pull that off.

Which version of riru works with edxposed?
I've tried a few and can't get edxposed to find any of them when installing.
EDIT:
I just noticed you said you installed Lsposed, got it installed successfully and i'm going to be checking out xposed edge pro, thanks a lot!
EDIT 2:
For those wanting a step by step to accomplish this. Not sure exactly how you got yours setup @Onoitsu2, but this way works for me.
First enable 3 button navigation (search navigation in settings)
Install "Xposed Edge" from here, enable it in Lsposed, reboot.
Xposed edge | Xposed Module Repository
repo.xposed.info
Enable the gestures in Xposed Edge, definitely at least a home gesture, a back gesture, and maybe a recent apps gesture. If you do not do this before the next step, you may have to restore a backup.
Note that gestures from the bottom of the screen will not work when the keyboard is open, so I created a back gesture from the side of the screen like the stock one. Then you can tap back to close the keyboard, other things could be used too, like a toggle soft keyboard among others I'm sure.
Then follow this guide.
[MOD][Magisk] Disable Navbar For 3rd-Party Navigation Gestures

I would recommend enabling the gesture nav actually, as with the 3 buttons enabled, you actually lose screen real estate from invisible sections it keeps there in gboard and other keyboards as well, if you use the Android gesture nav it opens up that space as it seems to read that state in the gboard app and honors it, even if hidden or not it still gives the room. But then that "Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures (Q-S)" Magisk module, run through the console it has you answer questions. Once you have Xposed Edge set up right, you can use that to fully hide the Android gesture nav, and get full screen space overall.
As for your crashing system UI, it sounds like you may have the double tap gesture enabled still for your power button. When I rooted, I think that is the only thing that I lost access to, just stopped working, but reader itself worked fine. I did have some issues when I left that option on in Settings, with System UI being dumb at times as I think it tried to trigger it but would not work properly. Just a thought, since I've come to use Xposed Edge and the shortcut panel instead, much more feature rich than the stock panel.

I used that module to not only alter the gestures, but turn that gesture nav fully off, hiding it entirely relying only on Xposed Edge Pro for navigations on my device actually. No System UI crashes here, nor other quirks that way like keyboard going dumb and not permitting swiping from bottom (be sure you look at Xposed Edge's settings and tweak them, it's worth it messing versus defaults)

I just reinstalled it a bunch of times and you do get a lot more options if you choose immersive instead of Fullscreen.
It seems that no matter which options I choose and regardless of whether or not you use the 3 button or gesture system navigation, there's still a tiny black bar on the bottom of the screen.
The black bar is in exactly the same place as it is during boot. When compared to the top of the screen which goes all the way to the top, the bottom bar still has a little part of unused space.
Did you manage to extend the screen all the way to the bottom, as it does with the top of the screen?
It's definitely extended more, but it would be awesome to get the entire screen space.
On a side note, do you know if there's a way to force all apps to be completely fullscreen and go all the way to the very top with the status bar hidden?
When I hide the status bar and turn it into landscape mode with the status bar hidden, I do get to use the full space in the app readera for example, but when using it in portrait mode, the space just goes unused despite checking off all apps to go around the camera whole in settings. For example, Firefox doesn't use the full space at the top of the screen, even with the status bar hidden.

Have you tried in multitasking list, tap on app's icon, it has a pullout of options that show like Full screen and if enabled split screen as another. That is the only thing I've used to make it fill up that upper notch area the camera is housed in. Mine is set to (Developer Options > Display Cutout) Device default. You want yours set to Hide to use the full space as often as possible I believe.
If you're on A11, When you go to Settings > Display and tap Advanced to expand the menu, do you have an option labeled "Full Screen" ? From there you can choose the apps you'd like to run full screen, of course this assumes the app is compatible and capable to do so.

unfortunately it is not possible to remove the pill by making Asus native gestures work. What is possible is to remove the pill (using the entire screen) and use gestures from third-party applications. For me it is the best option. root is required

On March 31, Asus released an update (WW-33.0804.2060.113) that allows you to hide the navigation bar. There's a new learning curve when navigating with gestures without the navigation bar, and after a month like that, I don't miss the navigation bar.
