I have noticed in the last few days that my new HTC One is not waking from sleep with WIFI functionality. When it wakes, the WIFI symbol in the notifications tray is gone. When I go to settings, And look at the WIFI option, It says that it is disconnected. When I touch to configure the WIFI settings, the settings app hangs on a black screen. I have to reboot my phone to get the WIFI back. Is anyone else having this issue?
Phone Model: HTC One
Router Model: ASUS RT-N66R / RT-N66U
Frequency: 5ghz
I am now testing in the 2.4ghz frequency and will report back my findings.
I can confirm that I don't experience this issue with 2.4ghz. No drops in 4 days. When I switched back to 5ghz on the 5th day, I got the drop and freeze within the hour.

I'm having the same issue. Can't tell what frequency band it's on when it happens though sorry.
I am having the exact same issue. It coincided with installation of an app called mute-o-matic in my case. I was wondering if the crash is related to the installation of this app. Could any one experiencing this crash comment on this?
[Update] It has happened 3 times in the last week. Wifi function just locked up, and had to restart phone to fix. Very frustrating. It's reasons like this that is driving me back to iOS. All the amount of tweaks and customization is not worth it when the phone is not reliable on basic functions. iPhones may be boring, but it at least I never once ever in years on owning them needed to restart it to fix a problem.
[Update 2] Android 4.3 update seemed to have solved the wifi crash issue. It is running much more stable after the update. Had it installed for 3 days now, and no crashes or self-rebooting so far.

[Update 3]
I previously thought that JB 4.3 update has rectified the wifi crash issue for good. After over a week with 4.3, wifi crash happened today.
The wifi option page was not grey-out, but it would not connect to any network, When I toggled it from "on" to "off" state, it failed to respond. At the end, only a phone reboot could fix it.
Frustrating to say the least.
[Update 4]
I can now reproduce the wifi problem when leaving the phone running on battery overnight. During the first week after 4.3 update, I left my phone plugged-in to power most of the time, and perhaps as a result, the wifi crash did not happen.
Basically, the wifi crash I am experiencing after 4.3 update is more or less the same issue reported by others on their HTC Ones (including One, One X, One S), where the wifi failed to connect after long period of inactivity.

For now, I am going to switch "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Always", as suggested in the 2nd link above. This should keep the wifi connection on the during sleep, and hopefully fixes the issue. I'll report back.
Hi all,
this is my very first post here on xda, so please forgive me if this is not the proper section for my thread. I searched for other thread about similar issues, but I didn't find anyone. I'm Italian, so I even hope to not being wrong in English writing.
I recently bought (on November 2014) an Huawei Ascend Y550-L01 (Android 4.4.4, EMUI 2.3, ROM B137), coming from a (Portuguese) Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5512. Soon I experienced a very strange GPS behaviour: GPS turns itself off. No problem in signal fixing, nor in quality or precision. It simply deactivates.
First I noticed this using the OruxMaps app (which works fine on many phones, even my old one), simply recording the track. Indeed, at the beginning the app was being killed (because of the integrated task-killer) when screen was off, but after setting it as a "protected" app, when I record a track, GPS works while screen is on and, if screen turns off, then most of the times (not always) GPS is deactivated from within Android settings.
I even received (from the purchasing time) some GPS errors while in the home screen... I don't remember exactly that error, but in a fast Internet search it was told being caused from the weather widget, precisely from the "actual position" setting. I deactivated it and added manually my town and those errors were gone.
Then I noted another strange behaviour: GPS turns off even in standby, during night. It is on "extreme precision" on evening and it's off at morning. Sometimes I notice these deactivation (in the notification menu or into the energy saving widget) while I'm using the phone (but always when screens is off), without any error or message popping out... It simply gets deactivated.
Any other experiencing this strange issue? What could be the cause? I sent a mail to official support, but they asked me to take the phone in a service point... I can't stay without phone, so I would like to avoid this if it's not strictly needed.
I think it's a ROM issue (said that even in the mail), but unfortunately still there is no alternative one (or at least I found none). I think also that (almost) every app that uses GPS suffers for the same behaviour I faced using OruxMaps.
PS: phone IS rooted by a couple of week, but I'm facing this issue from the first day.
What the hell is going on? Any help, idea or trying suggestion is appreciated...
Many thanks!
Up?
I also see strange problems on the Y550-L01 connected to GPS.
In my case the GPS does not disconnect completely, but during car navigation the signal gets lost from time to time (tested with different navigation apps).
This is only the case when the Y550 is NOT connected to the charger. If I connect it to the power supply, GPS works quite reliable and accurate!
For me this sounds like a software problem (maybe connected to a power saving mode?). I hope a firmware update will fix this soon.
Even to me this is a firmware issue. Before of your answer, I was really beginning to think it's a fault of my phone. Now that I'm not the only one, I went back to think of a bug.
If it is a power save problem, then try to use this app to stop the power save mode :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
(ultra light : 35K, free/no adds)
"Wake Lock gives you control over the Android Power- and WifiManager.
For example, you can force the PowerManager to keep the screen on or have the CPU still running in standby mode or make sure the Wifi connection keeps running at full performance.
You can use it on any android phone or tablet.
Use it to keep the screen on in full brightness or dimmed mode during movies or slideshows.
To make sure the CPU is still running in the background doing your tasks when you press the standby button."
Thank you for the report.
It seems that the new huaweï G620S has the same GPS problem :

Any news of an Huaweï update ? Hope yes...

Hi! Better post your question in our small Huawei Ascend Y550 thread. Maybe there someone of us can help.
If you understand German:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/huawei-...gation-unzuverlaessig-nur-im-akkubetrieb.html
These folks have the same proplem, but no solution.
Try it while a charger is attached.
Anyone else using the auto brightness and notice that it gets unchecked/turned off randomly? Stock firmware here, not rooted. Randomly noticing that the auto brightness is turning off.
I'm noticing the same thing. Have you found a solution?
No I haven't but I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one lol!
Seriously, I thought I was going crazy too. I looked on Google and XDA but I couldn't find anything specific to the S6 edge.
One thing to note, it seems like mine started happening after I used Moon Reader, which controls brightness independently of Android brightness settings - admittedly this could just be a coincidence though.
It seems like it happens every 30 minutes to an hour for me. If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
Extra Info: running a Tmobile Galaxy S6 edge with the latest update.
I also thought I was the only one with this problem. Fwiw, I'm not using moon reader and I've noticed the auto unchecked after 30 min give or take of being checked and it pisses me off because battery life is not the best...
Please let me know if you find a solution. Did previous galaxy phones had this happen? I'm coming of an htc one m8 and never owned a galaxy before.

Still looking for one personally... the only other galaxy phone I owned was a s3 and that never had this issue.
LOL, glad i saw this...thought the phone was unlocking in my pocket and accidentally doing this. I also find the auto brightness is awful. Way to dim. Wish Samsung would have used Lollipop's adjustable display where you can adjust how aggressive the auto brightness gets.
I don't really have a problem with the dimness, I just wish it would stay checked...
Same thing with the S6
As others mentioned, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just have the S6, not the edge, and am having the same issue.
I got a software update last night at around 2am EST through Telus and I haven't had the auto brightness turn off on me for a few hours now. Used to happen once every 30mins-1hour. Seems to be fixed!
Can you test the Fingerprint and Bluetooth trusted devices bug? Set up a trusted device and then connect to it. Then unlock the phone and wait for the screen to turn back off. Then, try pressing the home button to see if it lets you right back in to the phone, rather then having to do the damn swipe screen
many things not working
Hi
I have marked that many things are different in S6 and many many features are missing
1) Auto brightness gets disable on its own
2 ) Edge notification getting disabled
3) Open background tab opting missing
4) Switching between chrome tabs needs left hard key
5) Apps are crashing
6) Annoying Mobile data disable popup window!(with no option to disable it)
7) Long pressing Mobile data options opens up data uses rather than network settings!
8) Quick view can't be expanded by dragging it with two fingures!
9) Syncing is not good
10) people can hear me well on phone.
11) No guest mode!
I get more of a feel that I am using iPhone than S6! Many user settings are missing
Fixed itself
Strangest thing, seems like as of Yesterday midday or so auto-brightness is staying checked. No Idea what changed, I didn't change anything in terms of settings/restarting/etc. I will update if this changes but it is very strange...
Disable Car Mode
By disabling Car Mode, my auto brightness stayed on so far. You guys could give it a try!
found a solution!
So I was trying to fix the battery drain issue by deleting the cache according to another thread, and I noticed that the auto brightness hasn't unchecked itself since, is been about 12 hrs so far but I couldn't go 20 minutes without this happening yesterday.
Give it a try and see of it works for you, it might improve your battery life too, mine seems to be better but is too early to tell.
In case you don't how to do this, here is a copy of somebody's else instructions on hire to do it:
"Turn the phone off, then press and hold volume up + home button + power button all at the same time. You'll see a message saying "installing system update", which will display for a moment, and then you'll enter recovery. Once in recovery, select "wipe cache partition". Reboot, and your battery life will be much improved"
auto brightness
i had the same problem and after i uninstalled the car mode .. everything worked fine

Hi all,
I'm experciencing a weird problem since my Samsung Note 4 received the october security update. The wifi picto keeps blinking, going from grey to light green to full green and back to grey (all the time). in the wifi-settings, the wifi toggle keeps going left-right and looking for networks when turning to the right (on). This causes battery usage... I sent my phone in for repair, they replaced it with a new motherboard, but no luck. If I do a factory reset, no problems, but after restoring apps and accounts and installing the security update, the problem reoccurs... Someone experiencing the same problem ? It's a coincidence or not, my mothers Samsung S5 is having the same problem since the update, but even worse, she can't even connect trough wifi sometimes...
problem solved. Google activated "scan wifi even when location is off" with the update. That gives apps permission to scan for wifi-networks even with location turned off... All the info from users they can get, they'll get it !
my GS9+ is on the verizon network if that matters.
In the last 4-5 weeks my notifications, especially those with sound have become severely delayed. It is especially noticeable with apps such as:
SmartThings (when doors open and close at)
Nine (Exchange email)
HikVision Connect (Doorbell camera motion notifications)
It seems to happen more often when on wifi, but i can't confirm that.
When I get up at work from my desk it is like the phone wakes up and all of the sudden I get 5-10 notifications all at once. This also happens at home. It is like the phone wakes up and catches up with a bunch of notifications that it forgot to report.
SMS notifications don't seem to ever be delayed.
Was there a software update or app update that someone knows that might be causing this problem?
Granted I don't have Verizon at all, but my s9+ isn't having any notification issues.
Did you try disabling battery optimization? I turned mine off so that the phone wouldn't put apps to sleep and etc. Power savings for wifi turned on? If so try making sure that's turned off so your phone stays connected to wifi when the screen is off.
Any of the power savings mode enabled or other power savings apps you may have installed?
Mobile data plan permitting try running the phone on mobile data only (no wifi) to see if the issue happens as well.
Are there other apps effected by the issue your having? If a select number of apps are effected (and others are not) try getting in touch with the app developers and let them know what is going on.

I'm on Verizon. Similar deal. I let a system update get applied "Just security patches, no big deal", and it broke some of my notifications. Not all of them. Just some of them. I thought this was early Sept, but might have been in late Aug.
It's "doze". It used to only happen if your phone sat still for 20 min, but it was supposed to wake up with movement. Now mine kicks on after 3 min and movement doesn't impact it at all. You are supposed to be able to whitelist apps you don't want put to sleep, but it seems to be ignoring that setting for some of my apps. After three min I can send my phone a message, and it won't alert me at all. It's not until I turned on the screen, that they all come rolling through.
