Hi,
I'm using a Pixel 3 XL on a Magisk rooted Android 10 system.
I am trying to get YouTube Vanced to open without getting the "app keeps closing" error.
I believe it is because I don't have microG installed and am having a hard time with search looking for a way to download it on my system.
I've tried using search but the results just leave me confused, could someone please clarify this for me?
EDIT: Do I need to have TWRP to install microg? Because TWRP obviously isn't available for Android 10 yet...

First off YouTube vanced works without microG
MicroG is only needed to login to google in the vanced app.
I'm also pretty sure you don't have to be rooted or have TWRP to install it.

There's different versions of yt. vanced make sure you have the one that compatible with your GPU
Sent from my MI 9 Lite using Tapatalk
Ok so how do I install it and where can I find the downloads for the available versions of GPUs?
When I try to install it from the Chrome downloads folder it just says "Can't open file".
When I try to use SAI, it installs but doesn't make an icon to tap on to open the app. I have done this both with YouTube original installed and uninstalled and get the same results.
EDIT: Correction. Now when I use SAI to try and install the YT Vanced apk I downloaded from vanced.app, I get an error box saying "File doesn't have any certificates".
What does this mean and how do I fix it?
2nd EDIT: When I install the Non-Rooted apk from vanced.app it worked perfectly. DO I really have YouTube Vanced now since I installed the non-rooted apk?

Hi all,
I am new to this and sorry if I am repeating a thread. I have searched and haven´t really found my answer.
So I bought a Chinese phone with MTK6735 and Android 5.1. The phone does not come rooted.
The issue is that it does not come with Google Play or the GAPPS. I downloaded a copy of Google Play and installed it directly from the web browser of my phone. Now, when I click on the Play store, it doesn't really open, it's as if fails to load the app. (crashing immediately).
Can someone please advise?
Thanks
Download Google Play Services
All you need to do i download Google play services.
You can find the link by searching on Google.
Download the gapps .
Download the Gapps (search google)and flash it through recovery then it may work,i am not sure but i think it will work

Do I need to root the phone for it?
If you have recovery installed then i think not.

The Play Store crashes because it must be installed as a system app, and when you install it from an .apk it installs as a user app. It must be converted to a system app. But this requires root.
Sorry to bother again. I have tried with many methods and I still can´t.
I have tried downloading a google installer by Eric Xiang. This installed the Google frameworks and play services, but when I open Play store, it just tells me "Unfortunate, Google Play Services has stopped working". So, there's no way to open it.
Alternatively, I have tried to root it, and then install a recovery (as it was not installed by default). But here, I am having problems in rooting the device. I have tried with latest version of Kingroot and still failed. Not too sure, it may be because the device is with Android 5.1? or because the device has one of the latest Mediatek chips MT6735?

Yes man, I figured.
The issue started after I flashed the Magisk ZIP. Magisk was working properly, but I couldn't install other apps. Even from the play store this time.
So i uninstalled magisk.
Are there Magisk compatibility issues with AoSp Android 8.1 ?

Yes, there is a workaround. Check the 3rd post of this thread for that: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v5-4-t3774115/page4
Also this is the official thread for AEX v5.x for otus. Please go through it before reporting any bugs.
Hi Everyone,
So apparently after updating my XA2 Ultra to android 9.0 I am unable to install the themes I used
via APK. I read on the internet that this is something Sony is disabling for some reason.
Does anyone know a way to install a theme using the APK file and not from the Google Pay store?
Every time I try to Install them It just tells me that it couldn't be install and that's it.
Any help will be appreciate it.
Thanks everyone.

Hi,
I used to have the same problem, for *some* APKs even on 8.0. What i did (not sure what caused the problem, actually) was:
1) Enable unknown sources via dev. menu
2) Disable the Play Protect and built-in antivirus(es), e.g. AVG
3) Disable app checking from Google options (this might be tricky, because the app itself didn't show me this option, bit it came up eventually, don't remember how, i think when you try to install the .apk via ES or some other file explorer.)
Now it gives me the "App not installed" or "Unable to install" only when i try to update an app that was not originally installed from the Play Store, but (for example Aptoide or other Black Market store) it can be remedied by simply uninstalling the old app and install the new one.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Hi, i'm trying to install youtube vanced but can't get it to work. I'm using twrp and my phone is rooted. I also made 100% sure that the youtube app is uninstalled and automated updates are off in play store.
What happens is:
I can install the zip without errors with twrp. But in android there is no app shown and neither in Titanium backup. However i can find a apk called YouTube.apk that has the youtube vanced logo in the folder directory rootdirectory/System/System/App/Youtube
I also did try to install a older version but that didn't help. And i made sure with the app droid info that i'm on arm64-v8a and i'm using the right apk.
I just can't figure out what to do and didn't find anything helpful googling.

If you are using magisk root, just install the module via the magisk manager app

Did swap from SuperSU to Magisk, now youtube vanced works. Thanks.
Hi guys,
I'm trying to install YouTube Vanced, I have Stock ROM rooted with Magisk, but I get an error:
"Installation failed because the user tried to downgrade the package. Uninstall updates from the stock app, then try again."
I don't have an option to uninstall updates, so I used Package Manager (from F-Droid) to uninstall YouTube.
I restarted the phone, but I still get the same error.
Did anyone come across this and know how to fix it?
Thanks

Built in apps like youtube can uninstall updates by going to their play store page and press uninstall.
Did abit of googling. Have you tried this suggestion since u are rooted with magisk:
[CLOSED][APP][MOD][ROOT/NONROOT] Vanced
┤Mod Edit├┤Closing note. YouTube Vanced lives on in ReVanced (not affiliated with Vanced)├ ‼️Before asking or posting anything, please read the first and second posts.‼️ Always check the official Vanced website or XDA thread when downloading...

Yes I did. Use the magisk module named "debloater" and disable YouTube there.
Then you can install Vanced

I tried the Magisk module, I followed ALL the directions, but it did nothing. (I have no idea what I did wrong)
But I managed to finally remove YouTube with a debloated app from F-Droid (I think it's based on the Magisk debloater module, but I'm not sure...)
I finally was able to install YouTube Vanced!
Thanks
