Hi,
I have rooted my s20 following the tutorial, it seems to work, I have root privileges etc.
I'm trying to remove facebook with apps like root uninstaller, nobloat free etc but it doesn't work, either it looks like it worked but the app is still around, or it says "Error, uninstall failed".
Do you know why?
Cheers

Thanks. I tried. It says it worked. If I look simply via the search bar it still shows the app (and other packages). I tried to reboot too but they are still there and re appear in titanium... I'm not sure what's happening !

Facebook is a vendor apk who pays Samsung to install it on almost all Samsung devices. You can not delete it only disable.

Below debloating script does just that...and much more, with notable battery improvements. It also removes YouTube and Maps but you can install them afterwards.

Moved to Q&A as not development.
You can't really do this, as you need to install the app via the market. It's a form of piracy protection.

Actually, he can do it, by using the latest version of Titanium Backup and option is working fine, tried it myself.
Titanium Backup will attach apps to market as long as apk wasn't modified. It also works for paid apps, but in that case purchase won't be authorised when you wish to update and Market will present the Buy Now dialog.

But that didn't work for me... I don't know why but it is a free app....
It isn't really meant to work, so I can't really help. Either way, paid apps won't work with this method.
I'll try it with a free app myself, though I don't quite think it will work... not sure why, just a feeling
I have noticed that when I restore a nand backup that all my apps come back and the market recognises them.
I have to install citrix mobile connect to connect to the Exchange server at work, and citrix will not run on a rooted device
is there a way to overcome this or perhaps install a different app to receive exchange sync?
(for example will "hide root" work here)?
You can try voodoo rootkeeper that can perform a temporary unroot.
I will start with this thread and see if blocks the exchange sync, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273
I hope rooting doenst erase my data, as I am already working for a week with the device.
Anyway, I will run titnium backup before I start

titanium backup needs root
just found that out
So - any other ROM back up program out there that doesnt neet root?
or perhaps i dont have to worry about losing data with CFAuto root?

rooting does not delete data, whereas you never can be sure 100% that it will go as planned. Nevertheless there is not app that can backup 100% of your rom without root.
so i will take my chances :0)

done, went smooth
although I am running "root checker" and it says system running slow and doenst return results
is there a specific app i should install now ? "super SU" or something?

If you rooted it correctly SuperSU or SuperUser should already be installed. Did you have any progress getting Citrix to work while rooted? Im in the same situation and I've only been able to get it to work briefly with Touchwiz based ROMs with SuperSU. All others give me a " cannot connect due to a security policy" error - even after disabling root and trying to re-enroll. Its a beast...
Yes I have
I used hide my root throughout all the process.
I check with root checker to validate it's indeed hidden.
And I keep running hide my root at all times

I have had to do the same...and all seems to work. But I had to also install two more apps enforced by policy; Lookout, and Touchdown.
Any ideas on what these do?
Touchdown is a great app for synching all your mails, notes and Exchange data.
I use it
I don't know what lookout is for
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I just posted it here. I have a Visual Land Prestige 7G (not 7L or 7) with android 4.1.1. I have tried EVERYTHING to root this device, but no dice. It is for my daughter, and came with LOADS of bloatware that she not only does not need, but is taking up a huge amount of space, and making the tablet run like cold molasses. I would just build a custom ROM for this thing if I knew anything about doing so. If anyone could help me get rid of this stuff, I would be immensely grateful as I have been fighting with it for days now! This is the first time I have run across a device that I can't figure out. I can usually fix things myself, or at the very least find info to guide me through the parts I did not know. I feel so defeated! lol! PLEASE someone help!
Hi,
Do you have Play store on your device? If so please search for and install SRT Appscanner and tell me if it shows any bugs listed as not fixed or vulnerable at top of your screen.

Have you tried Impactor? If not, try following the directions below. The guide was written for the Sero 7 Lt but Impactor works on many different devices, just skip the first part of the guide about accepting updates as that applies to the Sero 7 LT. If you need help installing ADB drivers use the program I suggest in the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45543527
Hope this helps!
*EDIT* i see in one of your previous posts that someone already suggested Impactor but it looks like you may not have ADB drivers working properly if Impactor cant see the device. Does it show any info if you open a command prompt and type "adb devices"?
THANK YOU!!

I already had impactor downloaded so I just needed to download snappea. It turns out it was ADB. I assumed it was working properly because it would show up in device manger as android adb interface. I sure wish I had asked you three days ago! Lol! Can't thank you enough ^_^

Ok so I installed root checker, and it says I'm rooted. I have installed superuser, and App Master. However, I still cannot delete any apps like pre installed angry birds thats taking up 60mb on the internal memory. App Master (and also tried my already installed All in One Toolbox) goes through the motions, and says successfully uninstalled, but is only uninstalling the updates. I thought maybe it was a problem with the superuser app I had installed (by ChainsDD) so I downloaded the one from ClockworkMod. When I open that one I get the message "Binary must be updated". When I click install I get "There was an error installing superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer"
Ummm.....
Nevermind. i think I fixed it. Not entirely sure what i did, but I know I had to redo the impactor. the SRT appscanner was stopping the payload. It was saying it was malicious. Super user installed after that, and it says it's uninstalling facebook now. I guess I'll see how this goes.

Ok scratch that. I am rooted, but still cannot delete bloatware! I have tried 4 uninstallers, all with the same results. Well, actually one says I need to be rooted. I downloaded two root checkers, and both say I AM rooted. Gggrrrrrrr....
Edit: Also tried delting from snap pea. It says "failed to uninstall app. Please grant SnapPea root privileges and try again" I granted SU, but still says the same thing :/

Try using titanium back up to uninstall apps, let me know if it works. I always use SuperSU app since Impactor installs SuperSU binary into phone.

Tried titanium last night with no luck. even tried es file explorer, but tablet wont switch to rw. tried to install supersu just now, but it says installation failed. tried uninstalling the other su app and then install supersu, but no luck. seriously contemplating how far this thing would travel if i threw it out the window! lol
Further, I have also tried the basic r/w command in the terminal, (mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3) but since Im not very familiar with it, I wasn't sure what else to do. I could be wrong, but Im assuming my problem is the read only file system.
Man your lucky to get that far...rooted with impactor and downloaded and installed supersu and it is stuck updating the binary..for about 20 mins it's been saying.. "installing...please wait"

Have you guys been able to flash a recovery image (TWRP or ClockworkMod)??? And if so..have you tried to flash Superuser via recovery??? I have a friend who has the same tablet and he wants me to root/unlock his device...
I've been trying to root my Sparrow without much luck. Followed the instructions and keep getting the following error.
Updater process ended with ERROR : 2

I used this ^^ SuperSU without BusyBox, and one time it worked, but now trying to use it after a complete wipe and re-install of 1.5, SuperSU appears to install, but Wear Root Checker says Not Rooted. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong/different. I have tried with and without wiping dalvik cache, I have tried with and without mounting system. Can't get it to stick!
Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using this app?
If so it doesn't work anymore.
Easiest way to see if you're rooted is to use this app. It doesn't open if you're not rooted.
If you really want to test it, use that app to uninstall a system app. Like that useless activity tracker they include.

I uninstalled Wear Root Checker, and installed Advanced Settings, and it opened but said Screen Overlay detected and wouldn't proceed. After reading up on Screen Overlay problems, I found that Wear Mini Launcher was mentioned as a culprit - I uninstalled it, and now Advanced Settings works!
What activity tracker are you talking about? Fit? iFit? Activity Stub?

Guyz,
On my backup phone, i was messing around and installed kingroot... a total malware.
Then, i formatted by phone and still kingroot is there. Tries deleting from kingroot settings but cant.
Plz inform how the hell shall i completely remove this sh*t?
Not an advanced user hence wont be able to understand complicated removal procedures.
PS: Using Samsung Note 3 Neo

If your device has root access, you can remove King root with other applications or from the King root settings. Uninstall the application with link2sd. If you can not delete the application, you will have to install the stock rom.

Thanks , but after three dots -> i have option to uninstall OR convert to user app.
Under both i get the same error:
"Link2SD could not obtain root access.
Maybe as i formatted my phone, i am no longer rooted and hence the error.
Also, i tried disabling Kingroot from phones builtin "Applications manager" and yes it seems disappeared from my App list on phone, Is it safe to say its no longer working on my phone even in background ?

The application that you deactivated will not run again, but if it really was malware, it probably installed other malware applications. I recommend you to do a complete analysis with several antivirus programs starting with Dr. Web.
