I have buyed the new released Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S and i have problems with the Wifi. When you let the device to sleep for few hours wifi stops working. When turning on the phone from sleep the wifi dont work and you have to turn the wifi off and on to restore it, then i receive all the messages at once when the apps (Line, Whatsapp, etc) reconnect to inet. It seens to happen only if the device is sleep for few hours. If is only sleep for few minutes it works ok. Anyone experienced this issue, knows how to solve it?
I noticed strange wifi behaviors too
I also encounter same issue...
please advise your rom version.
my device does not get that's problem
11.0.1 global
11.0.3 india global
11.0.5 india global
I have used my RMN9S more than a week ago and I don't have any issue with WiFi. My device connect to WiFi almost 24/7 without any problem. BTW mine 11.0.3 global
Mine is 11.0.3 global. When i awaked this morning and checked the phone it was working ok. No problems at all after all night in sleep mode. I am puzzled. I hope it was a "one" time fault and it works from now on. I come again if i have news.
Just got the wifi connected without internet... Had to disable and renable
This also happens to my Redmi Note 9S.
It happens with all current ROMs. I experienced it with global, indian and eu ROMs.
Its also random, it does not happen after x hours. Sometimes its just 1 hour, others is 7 hours, others it does not happen.
What I do:
I turn off the smartphone screen to sleep, with wifi on. AC connected.
I have some apps reading internet data every 2 minutes.
When I wake up, I see the wifi icon connected. But Internet doesn't work.
When I look at the apps, I can see that they stopped accessing internet at a random time in the night.
If I turn wifi off and on, internet works again.
It doesn't happen with wifi off and mobile data connection on.
I tried changing some values in dev settings. Also in battery settings. Nothing has worked yet.
With normal day usage, it can also happens, if the screen is off a few hours.
It not a router wifi issue. My old note 3 worked fine with the same wifi. My wife's redmi note 8 pro works fine too.
It can be something related to battery saving. But so far I have been unable to fix if.
It never happens with screen on, or with screen off for a few minutes.
So I dont think its a hardware issue, I think its software-related.

Thank you DjXavy, your post is perfect to describe my issues. As anyone triying to contact Xiaomi about this problem? Are they even aware of it?
-deleted-
It could be a drivers or firmware problem. Xiaomi should be able to fix it.
What can we do:
1) If it happens to you too, please report it here and give details if you can. That way, Xiaomi can evaluate how common the problem is.
2) While it get fixed: Do someone know an app, or can build one, that check every few seconds if internet conection is working, and if it fails a few times, the app turns wifi off and on? It will require a rooted smarthphone to control wifi switch.
3) Do someone know how to send bug reports to Xiaomi? It would be good is they get a link to this thread.
I have updated to 11.0.5 now, lets see if its fixed or not. I have used the inbuilt report feature in the phone to report the issue but anything else except this post.
I have flashed xiaomi.eu 11.0.5 today. Still Wi-Fi Problems here. Hope Xiaomi get this fixed soon.
I have been contacted by Xiaomi support in the phone app. Now at least they are aware of the problem.
They called me today too. I have send them logs. At least they are working hard at this Problem. Everyone should send them logs to get this error fixed soon.
I may found the cause and workaround to prevent this bug.
Normally WiFi recognizes absence of internet connection. But in our case we're still online and I noticed some syncs still working. So DNS is coming to my mind. But I still changed my wifi to static IP using Google 8.8.8.8 DNS.
With Pie(?) Google introduced "Private DNS". I remember in MIUI 10 this feature was hidden and by default "off". On my NOTE 9S (global MI version) this setting was set to "Automatic" by default. After turning it off while dysfunctional WiFi, internet was coming back right away. After this (still) continuous connection.
The time is too short to be sure it's gone forever (*evil laugh*), but you guys could help to test.
You find the option in "Settings | Connection & sharing | Private DNS".
Good work. Continue trying things!
I switched off that same option days ago.
My 9S still have problems with wifi.
Sometimes, even switching the screen off a few minutes is enought to trigger it.
I'm still trying things, but no luck so far.
Although I've only had it for one day, I've not seen this problem yet. Wonder if it's a Wi-Fi compatibility issue or something strange?
I have noticed that I dont have problems when I am connected to a 802.11n network. The last Days I have had the Problems I Was connected to 802.11ac (2,4ghz + 5ghz). Today I was connected to an old 802.11n network and everything seems to be okay. Do you have the Problems with both Networks?

Interesting. I'm connecting to a 802.11ac wifi too.
I will switch to a 802.11n one and see what happens.

I have noticed in the last few days that my new HTC One is not waking from sleep with WIFI functionality. When it wakes, the WIFI symbol in the notifications tray is gone. When I go to settings, And look at the WIFI option, It says that it is disconnected. When I touch to configure the WIFI settings, the settings app hangs on a black screen. I have to reboot my phone to get the WIFI back. Is anyone else having this issue?
Phone Model: HTC One
Router Model: ASUS RT-N66R / RT-N66U
Frequency: 5ghz
I am now testing in the 2.4ghz frequency and will report back my findings.
I can confirm that I don't experience this issue with 2.4ghz. No drops in 4 days. When I switched back to 5ghz on the 5th day, I got the drop and freeze within the hour.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I'm having the same issue. Can't tell what frequency band it's on when it happens though sorry.
I am having the exact same issue. It coincided with installation of an app called mute-o-matic in my case. I was wondering if the crash is related to the installation of this app. Could any one experiencing this crash comment on this?
[Update] It has happened 3 times in the last week. Wifi function just locked up, and had to restart phone to fix. Very frustrating. It's reasons like this that is driving me back to iOS. All the amount of tweaks and customization is not worth it when the phone is not reliable on basic functions. iPhones may be boring, but it at least I never once ever in years on owning them needed to restart it to fix a problem.
[Update 2] Android 4.3 update seemed to have solved the wifi crash issue. It is running much more stable after the update. Had it installed for 3 days now, and no crashes or self-rebooting so far.
Cleaning
Thread has been cleaned. Please be respectful to others and do not incite.
[Update 3]
I previously thought that JB 4.3 update has rectified the wifi crash issue for good. After over a week with 4.3, wifi crash happened today.
The wifi option page was not grey-out, but it would not connect to any network, When I toggled it from "on" to "off" state, it failed to respond. At the end, only a phone reboot could fix it.
Frustrating to say the least.
[Update 4]
I can now reproduce the wifi problem when leaving the phone running on battery overnight. During the first week after 4.3 update, I left my phone plugged-in to power most of the time, and perhaps as a result, the wifi crash did not happen.
Basically, the wifi crash I am experiencing after 4.3 update is more or less the same issue reported by others on their HTC Ones (including One, One X, One S), where the wifi failed to connect after long period of inactivity.

For now, I am going to switch "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Always", as suggested in the 2nd link above. This should keep the wifi connection on the during sleep, and hopefully fixes the issue. I'll report back.
I'm trying to figure out if my Edge is bad. When I turn the screen off, and come back to the phone a few minutes later, I'll get a notification stating it has connnected to my router. I've checked the settings and it states the wifi is set to be always on. I attempted a factory reset and still no luck. Sometimes it'll take a few moments before it even connects to the wifi again upon turning the screen on.
Do I have a bad phone?

I would check under the advanced settings for wifi, there's an option for what to do with wifi during sleep. That may be your problem.
I've already checked and it''s enabled.

I have the same thing happening. I noticed when I was backing pics on one drive
. It would always say that back up has stopped because there was no WiFi After turning the screen on again.
I just got my Edge yesterday, and I am having the same problem with wifi AND also that it stops seeing any wifi and I have to toggle it off and back on manually THEN it will instantly connect to my known network.
Dear @vaxick,
Dial *#0011# and click on more>>WiFi>>"WIFI Power save mode" try to disable this option and see what happens.
*it might drain your battery faster.

Thank you for this suggestion, unfortunately it had no effect as I have observed the same wireless disconnect behavior now with both the WiFi power save both on and off. Once the wireless disconnects it no longer see ANY wireless networks no matter where I go until I toggle the wireless off then back on again. Then it will see all wireless network present around me and instantly connect if there are any of my saved networks present. At this point I believe it is either a hardware or worse a software problem with my phone, but I am really at a loss to the exact nature of this issue.
Mine also has this issue when connected to 5GHZ SSID. Connecting to my 2.4GHZ SSID solves this problem completely for me

I hope that this is a hardware issue with my phone, as your "solution" is totally unacceptable for me, especially since my work place has bandsteering AP's that use the same SSID's for both 2.4 and 5GHz.

Yeah, i have to turn WIFI off whilst at work for the same reason. Certainly hoping it's just a software bug and will be fixed quickly as it is by no means an ideal workaround
I also see this kind of problem since last 1 week, here is how i noticed. i user viber messaging app and it shows status online if you are connected. Lot of my friends started complaining that my status is not continuously online and fluctuating so i started doing tests.
Moment my display turns off i started counter and in 10 minutes my status changes as last seen and whenever i open viber app again i am online.
second test: i tried doing the same with whatsapp and connected at web.whatsapp.com and same thing happens within 10 mins i see yellow bar appearing that my phone is disconnected so again i have to open whatsapp on phone to reconnect.
this is very annoying to see this kind of problem on new phones, especially when old phones are working flawless.
Kind of the same problem, but with GPS. Once I disabled the battery saver mode, it stopped disconnecting. Have you tried that?
Are you referring to power saving mode in battery settings. i did check and they are turned off. No idea what else i am missing here.
I tried re-installing viber but still after 10 mins its keep disconnecting.

I'm having the same issue on my regular non edge s6. This settings is not doing anything have it on always still always drops the wifi when going to sleep. Its driving me crazy no idea why its doing this
i did check and i have Keep WiFi on during sleep >> Always option but still drops, no clue whats wrong with my phone.
I had the same issue and solved it by changing my routers security from WPA2/Mixed Mode to WPA2 Personal. Since this change, it works fine on both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz.

I received my Galaxy S 6 edge a week ago and I am having this same peculiar reconnecting issue to WiFi that has been described here.
Solution?
I was having this same issue and was unable to find any good solutions for it online, but eventually found something for me that worked through experimenting:
Find the above mentioned "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" option (which is probably set to "Always" already), change it to "Never", and then change it back to "Always". Since doing this I haven't had it disconnect from the wi-fi once, where as before it would do it everytime the screen had been off for a few minutes.
The problem started happening sometime after I played with power saver mode, so I think it might be related to that. I know that the software has some other bugs related to power saving mode, as I had a previous problem where my softkeys stopped vibrating or lighting up, which ended up being related to not exiting ultra power saving mode correctly and was fixed by going re-enabling ultra power saving mode and exiting again.
Hi guys!
I experience some problems with the GPS on my Nokia phone with Oreo 8.1. This is how it looks like in the GPS Test app:
https://img1.picload.org/image/dlori...803-201912.png
I tried the following
- turned off the 4G
- also turned on/off the WiFi
- tried changing the location mode from high accuracy to device only
- cleared the AGPS - again no signal, then updated the AGPS, same thing
- restarted the phone
- turned off the phone, waited for a while, turned it on again
- removed the SIM card, waited for a while, put it in again
Google maps finds my location, also Runtastic but it says that GPS signal is weak and tracking will not work. So something is obviously wrong here. This happened before as well, then the GPS worked perfectly for about a week, now I have the problem again.
Can anybody please help? Thanks!
Hi again,
So the GPS started working again yesterday for a while. It behaved perfectly with no issues and accuracy of 1 meter. Then when I started the app later, it could not get a fix again... Today it is working (for now). I even tested it home in a room and it has 21 satellites in view, 11 in use, with 3 meters accuracy. For comparison my other phone can only see 17 and uses 5.
So when the GPS decides to turn on, it works perfectly. But it also often happens that it cannot fix. Would you guys say that this is a hardware or software error? If it is the software I would be willing to wait for an update. If it is a hardware problem I still have 4 days left to return the phone, so please let me know. Thanks!
Did you ever find a fix?
All three of my stinking Androids are having this issue since updating to Oreo and Pie. I drive hours a day and NEVER had this issue until I updated and it started occurring right after the update. I even bought a brand new Pixel XL an it's doing the same thing.
Hi All I have the Mate 20 Pro and absolutely loving it apart from the below problem.
WiFi keeps dropping out. It's definitely nothing to do with the wireless router as all other devices working perfectly and my previous SAMSUNG S7 never had any issues they only started when I got this new phone.
Unfortunately its causing serious issues for me as I can't get data connection downstairs and rely on WiFi.
I've read others have problems and apparently Hawai cut corners with the WiFi and put a poor quality device inside?
Is there anything that can be done or is this definitely a hardware problem and something I just have to live with I. E. Not being able to use it on WiFi?
It shows full bars on the WiFi status symbol top left but will connect one minute and the next minute can't even load a new page, Facebook comments, or will just pause and start spinning on a video.
Bump!! Same problems! My Galaxy S7 and S8 always worked flawless with notifications and internet connection switching between wifi and 4G. Mate 20 pro drops out. Now also remembering my old Ascend Mate 7 did the same. Huawei problem, but is there a solution?
I have tried various settings in the wireless and developer settings no luck. I cant seem to find the usual android settings to keep wifi on always...
Did you guys check under Settings/Battery/More battery Settings if "Stay connected when device sleeps" is ON?
Pretty stupid to hide it there (Samsung had it in the right place under WiFi settings) but whatever.
My Wifi NEVER disconnects at home or work and I DO get emails even if the app is set to pull every 30 min (so it wakes up properly and pulls data). Plus unlike my old S7Edge, WiFi reported power drain is always below 1%...so negligible.
I've noticed Youtube keeps losing connection when using Chromecast

That setting is on yes. Thanks for your reply
So I recently got the Realme6 8GB + 128GB, and it's a great phone except for this issue where it doesn't work on my Wifi sporadically.
It will be completely fine browsing reddit for example, then just refuse to load anything despite the wifi icon showing full connectivity. Typically turning the wifi on the phone off and on resolves it easily enough, but it's becoming a constant albeit sporadic thing.
It gets back to normal once I restart the phone but then again it goes back again.
I can't even play PUBG with a constant ping anymore. It's always jumping from green to yellow, yellow to green, despite having a 20 mbps data connection.
I have tested my wifi with my other devices and there's no issue with them, so I know it's the phone.
Any advice or anyone know how to fix this?
wifi issue
i also have a problem with the wifi but mine was when the Bluetooth and Wifi is turned on... the wifi can't receive data or the bandwidth(?)/frequency(?) are in conflict.
This issue happened in update which was before B.45 (B.37 is name of that update i think) I thought it will be fixed in B.45 but it still persists and it is very irritating.
Issue resolved in B.47 update
