Wireless Dex - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I recently got my Galaxy Tab S6 LTE version in Germany and I am amazed.
I wanted to know whether someone has already looked at "force desktop mode on secondary display" and has attempted to replace the "desktop mode" with dex ...
All the best and thanks for your time,
Kevin

This is actually Android 10 feature - Android 10 Desktop mode

I know
I am wondering whether it is possible to replace the android desktop mode that is forced upon secondary displays with samsung's iteration of a desktop mode

I just tried it. Currently this option doesn't make anything when is on.
If I connect the tablet to another display just duplicate the screen. If I turn on DeX, the tablet stays in tablet mode and DeX runs on the external display.

Yeah, I've seen videos of that before
I still think you misunderstand, though I might be unclear
I do not mean starting dex.
I mean the option to FORCE desktop mode on external displays, so when I connect to a cheap chromecast-alternative from ebay (or the connect app on windows 10 for testing purposes) the internal desktop mode starts on the external device.
I wonder whether it is possible to "force dex instead of desktop mode" thus enabling me to use dex wirelessly.
I know that standard-behavior is using dex, but I need a cable with that. The force desktop mode makes the thing wireless.
SO technically it is possible to use a desktop mode (dex-like) without attaching wires.
I wonder whether it can be done in a simple way by modifying dev-settings to force dex instead of desktop mode
sorry if I am being unclear or it does not make any sense

Sure it's interesting to try but wireless displays' capability quality and latency wise are lacking. So is of dex's too.

I hear you.
I am certainly mit Up for the Task ?
If I Recall correctly, Huawei offers Wireless Desktop Mode. I hope either some clever devs or Samsung will come Up with a brilliant wireless solition...
With native Desktop Mode I guessed it being here earlier rather than later.

[Q] Change/Fix ROM Settings/Menu Options via ADB

Hello,
Rather an unusual problem, i dont intentionally want to go the difficult ADB way, being the novice I am. However I cannot access a usual settings in my current favorite ROM, so I need a way to get to it.
I have been using this ROM on my S4 i9500. I am unable to find an option in the ROM for Day Dream. In other ROMs, when on the daydream setting screen, there is option via the menu button, to choose when the DayDream should work "While Charging" or "While Docked" on while on either of them.
In Ozcan 6.3 ROM we can only choose the daydream to be ON or OFF, the menu button does not work to let us choose the conditions for daydream.
In my case I have a Samsung multimedia dock which I normally use for charging as well. So when I dock the phone , it is recognized as "Docked" hence the daydream is never activated. Otherwise if I simply connect a charger to mobile, the daydream starts after a while.
So I need to know is there a way we can change this settings to be able to daydream also when the phone is DOCKED, it serves me well as being a bed side alarm clock.
I guess there should be a way to change this settings directly via the ROM settings files or via ADB. Only need your guidance and support to know how.
Hope I was able to explain my problem.
Thanks.

OTG keyboard help / Accessing broken screen device

A coworker has a Galaxy Tab S2 with a broken screen. He also let the battery die, so fingerprint unlocking no longer works. I do have an OTG adapter so I can plug in an external keyboard to get the thing unlocked.
I'd really like to enable developer options, or at least allow USB file transfers (it's not enabled either). I've been testing on another device to try to make a walkthrough for myself, but it's proving to be a bit of a pain. Is there an OTG keyboard shortcut to launch settings or open the all apps folder?
He did buy an identical replacement tablet that arrives tomorrow, so I'll at least be able to attempt to operate them together each with their own OTG keyboard.
End goal is to enable debugging so I can take a full backup.

Nordictrack Commercial 2950 Android tablet

Just got this treadmill and it’s basically a 23” android tablet connected to the treadmill. Thanks to another thread here, I managed to get into “privilege mode” which allows you to access the android shell and settings. For others looking for this info, instructions to get into this mode are
1. In the ifit app go into settings
2. Tap on maintenance
3. In the blank space below the maintenance settings, tap rapidly, around 10-20 times
4. “Privileged mode” will show up as a message at the bottom of the screen
5. Swipe up from the bottom edge and you will see the android taskbar, tap on the circle and you will go to home, now you can access android settings
I do not know how to turn off this mode. However it seems to be ok, only difference is that the treadmill will boot to android home, then launch the ifit app, which may be disconcerting to some SO sharing the device.
Now on to the hard part, it’s running 7.1.2, so I assume after going into settings and turning on install from other sources, I could side load. Nope, browser crashes every time when I try to download something, eg apk file.
There is no user accessible USB port, any idea what I should do or side load stuff like Netflix? YouTube on the browser seems to work though.... any help here would be much appreciated!!

Wow. I have the 2017 version of the 2950 that has Android 5.1.1 along with an external USB A female port and a (useless) female HDMI out port that should allow hard wire video / audio to a nearby HDMI input capable device.
I, too have privleged mode active per a tech support call a while back. Anyway, let me say that a while ago I nearly bricked mine trying to sideload a few APK's, so be ready to assume the responsibility for anything that may happen. You should be able to get to the browser in the OS and go to Google.com and sign in... this will let you get to Drive and Gmail and grab any APK's you've parked there from a PC or whatever?
Hey, do you have WiFi for 2.4GHz only or maybe 5.8GHz as well? Just curious, not that it will help me at all... I have a USB-A to Ethernet dongle that refuses to work with the console's USB port . My 2.4 connectivity is garbage.
This is ironic. I opened the built in browser and was going to sign into google to grab an APK of Google Home... all of a sudden I see Privilege Mode Removed (or something like that) pop up and the iFit app stared up. Now the 2950 fires up quicker like it did when new. SO bizarre!

Clicked Deny during a Samsung Dex install/connect and cant reverse option

I know this is probably an easy fix but i cant find the USB options anywhere, or find any way to reverse the accidental tap on my phone. I was on a road trip and during the Dex install on my windows tablet while in the car, accidentally tapped the Deny connection on my phone. Now it wont connect to my main PC either for Dex and seems to be stuck in Charge Mode only for USB and the Developer options dont seem to have an effect. I dont have the drop down options in the main notifications tab anymore, i think one of the more recent updates killed those options.
Quick edit for clarification: I cant access any files over USB currently through windows, cant access Dex, or anything. Just charge.
Id like to back up all my current stuff before my new phone arrives so getting a data connection is pretty important...

Pixel 2 non-functioning screen, options for using ADB?

Greetings fellow techno-wizards! Got a big problem that I'm hoping you can help me with.
Long story short, my trusty Pixel 2 had one too many drops, now the screen won't turn on and won't respond to touch. The logic board is operating, and I haven't rebooted since then, so I can unlock with the fingerprint sensor.
I plan on getting an Pixel 5 when it releases, and have an LTE Tablet to limp along until then.
My biggest problem is authenticators on my phone that I may or maynot have the backup QR code for, as well as many other things I'd like to get off the phone before I retire it.
I have the following things at my disposal:
Pixel 2, with USB Debugging turned on, and recently trusted the PC. No screen, no touchscreen.
WearOS watch paired to phone (can get notifications and texts)
Bluetooth Mouse
Wired mouse with USB to USB C adapter
Chromecast
Win PC with Scrcpy installed, already tried to use it to show the screen on the PC, I'm guessing its been too long and I have to press a notification to trust the PC.
The Goal:
To cast the screen to a chromecast and pair a bluetooth mouse, and/or get Scrcpy working by accepting the dialog that I can't see. This would allow me to use the migrate tool to the new phone I will eventually get.
I tried long ago to use a USB C to HDMI adapter, that doesn't work. Google wants you to use a Chromecast for such things (Thanks a ton Google )
The thing I need to figure out next is how to use ADB to force the phone to start casting to a Chromecast, or to remotely accept the dialog. The wired mouse with adapter should work to control the phone instead of the touchscreen, but without any video out, I'm clicking blindly. The microphones are working, but I've never tried to command the assistant to start casting before.
Can anyone suggest the next step I should try?
Just had a thought, there are accessibility features for blind people that would let them use the screen without seeing it. Is there any ADB command to enable these features? If I plug in a keyboard, is there a keystroke combination to turn them on?

Since you say ADB is enabled on the phone you should be able to pull out by means of ADB-driver the data in mind to your Windows computer.
