Why not use Samsung's inbuilt call recorder?
I use it, and works perfectly as it should be!

Depends. If you have the United States variant, built in call recording isn't even available for us..

Which one will record both sides ?

Because it is a kernel-related restriction, no application will be able to bypass it. So, the answer is: none.
Except, of course, if you are on custom roms or rooted...

Change you region phone, do not need to root.

Can you explain the way in detail
.... I don't want root but I want to record calls and I had to work too much root but most bank applications are disabled and can't be put in root skipping at all

Buy THL (Thailand) sim card, format your phone with sim card inside, and thats all, after that insert your sim card again, and its done.
I have do that and it works, I have native call recorder.
It only work with Multi region rom installed OXM ex: my phone SM-G973F

This one works
I use CubeACR (find it in Play Store).
It bypass the limitations explained above by using the Accessibility options (If I understood well).
Works fine for me (NON rooted, stock Samsung Android 10 ROM, G973F dual SIM EU spec, 8-128 setup).
It records both sides and even Whatsapp and alike calls. The free version has ads (set up a private DNS if you bother that - I do, I would purchase the app but the creators only offer time-based subscriptions and not a lifetime license) and also the free version only record calls in .AMR format, though you can easily convert the ones you want to keep to any other format or simply let them as they are - recording quality is fine anyway.
Just follow carefully the setup wizard when you first start the app.
Give it a try, and you'll see. Hope this heps

Nope, it doesn't record both sides. I tested this app last year and I tested it now again and it seems they found a better way to record from speakers. The level of background noise is high but you can hear the other voice, so... beter than nothig...

Well, anyway it is as you said. Better than nothing. Certainly I'm using it at home, 'cause I make and receive calls mainly when I'm there. I will try and test outside to see how bad is the surrounding noise. With my old J3 2016 there was much simpler, easy to install TWRP, Magisk etc, and record calls was piece of cake with AOSP Call Recorder. No issues at all. Now, this is a flagship much better phone but... It seems this kind of 'playing' is not that easy. Pity!
Cheers!

[Q] Call recording on ICS

Has anyone got two way voice recording working on any of the ICS releases, whether a MOD or a 3rd Party app?
I tried a couple (killer mobile and call recorder) but no luck.
same here. call recorder always worked 100%
Anyone? Still can't find one that will work....aaarrrggg.
I would like to know too. I heard Samsung has removed the necessary call recording libraries in ICS. Hope that is not true.
afaik it will work soon, becuase the ics kernel sources are published today. that will grant many developers to fix everything which cant be fixed before. afaik the call recording problem inlcuded!
Looking forward to this. I loved that on GB. There is a tutorial @ "Original Android Development" category (for GB), maybe someone can start from there to make it work on ICS?

Before I use CallRecorder but now it does not work ok
me too. that was very useful as it recorded automatically
I can confirm, call recorders does not work on ICS.
I tried almost all available from the market, but no success.
I need it too

This seems to be an useful thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482721 - this actually points to a easy way of getting call recording functionality back!
Here's my understanding from the thread. Basically there are three files in /system/lib that are used for call recording API -
libaudioflinger.so
libaudio.so
libaudiopolicy.so
(It's interesting to note that out of these, only the first is there in ICS.)
If we copy the files from 2.3.6, and replace/add the files, there's a good chance that we will get back call recording. Now to get these files... does anybody have the older version, or know how to extract these files from the ROMs?
SOLVED XD - Need to know if it's reliable
Hi,
I have tried "Auto Call Recorder" (free) and seems to work ok.
Without any patchs or modifications on the rom it works ok recording from mic (depending on you it could be wnought or not).
QUESTION 1:
Someone could tell us if this program is realiable? (I mean, if we can trust in it).
Because it have several permissions that I'm not sure it should have or if it's neccesary.
It has 100.000 - 500.000 installations and 4 star score
How can we be sure if this program is not spying us?
RECORDING WITH API (not mic)
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551353 I have found a thread where there are two ICS libs (different from the GB ones) that sould fix the problem and should allow to record from API, so we could get clear and loud sound.
Files are audio.primary.exynos4.so & audio_policy.exynos4.so in /system/lib/hw
Files can be downloaded from http://www.mediafire.com/?r2wgv821w1uutzd or from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=955906&d=1332235902 (both are binary same)
QUESTION 2:
Again reliability.
Someone could tell us if this libs are realiable? (I mean, if we can trust in it).
I have downloaded "ZSLPE" that is supposed to have call recording and this libs are the same that the original in XXLPQ, and are different of the downloable ones that I say before (supposely patched).
If ZSLPE have call recording, why libs are the same that XXLPQ?
Where are this "patched" libs from?
Again the same question, are this "patched" libs reliable?
Perhaps I could be some paranoid, but I don't want a spy on my phone or something worse, and I want to be sure that all my phone conversations (or any other personal data) are not sent to anyone.
Probably is stupid to think that anyone could be interested in my bored conversations, but those are mine...
Greetings
^ Thanks given
For security concern, you may want to try out LBE Privacy Guard... I use it. It can help you to deny certain permissions for any program which you think has no business asking for the permission.
You may question that program more though, as it asks for a lot more permissions in return for the power!
Personally, I would trust the libraries and the auto call recorder - the permissions it asks seem legit. I checked the hack works with Total Recall too, so if you feel more comfortable you could use that.

Could you explain what you mean by this I not sure I understand.
Thanks to everyone who has been responding it looks like we might not be too far away from call recording on ICS. WooHoo!

I installed the two .so files mentioned in this thread into /system/lib/hw -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551353&page=2
After a while this worked for me, for both Total Recall and Auto Call Recorder. I have DXLP7 with CFRoot LP7 kernel.
Alternatively, according to the same thread, in ZSLPE call recording works from start.
Let me know if that helps, or I can answer any other questions to get it working for you.

There is no replacing this app. It can do ANYTHING you would ever need in a call recorder. To name some features:
I have my family in a "family group" in my contacts. Same with friends in "friends". You can go to exceptions and tell it to "never record x-group" and "always record" another group. It also has a manual over ride button so that you can start recording even if the person calling is in the "never record" group. So my recorder is setup so it automatically records everyone that is not in my "never record" group.
I love that app. Worth every penny IMHO.
I agree, it's worth every penny. Saved my ass once.

Yupp. It has saved me about $1.000 to date. What happens most of the time is we agree upon a price and they tell me another price when the work is done or when the product shows up. I tell them "no we agreed on $xxxx dollars.", they disagree, I show them the recorded call and they back down. Without this app it would be "I said, you said" and it would be a PITA to settle on something. It's such a nice app! Dollars, frustration and time saved! I would donate even more, but considering I gave the dev a tons of idea: exception list, movable recording button, "hide pause button if recording has started option" etc, that he incorporated to make the app it is today I feel I have done my part
Thank you. This is very good news indeed! I hope so will be in future)

Can you point me in the right direction on how to get their software? I am willing to pay för a solution that lets me record calls regardless if I am on blutooth, cabled headset, normal or speakerohone, preferably channel divided. Sound format doesn't matter as long as there somewhere is a converter for it.
My phone is rooted, native API seams to work on handset with or without speakerphone active, however not with headset. My phone is rooted.
I tried every single setting from the "Standard Android API preferences, but it did not work with bluetooth headset (Sony Smart Wireless). Only the incoming voice is being recorded.
Though I only use the note with bluetooth the app is useless for me.

That's what I use now, but no matter what the setting, it either records only my voice or the other person. Not both. I've tried this two different bluetooth headsets without luck: Motorola hx550 and jawbone icon.

Help Regarding "Phone by Google" Android App

In My Device There is "Phone By Google" default App Came as Phone Dialer.
It has Feature of Call Recording But it has some issue. whenever I Click on Record call it Announces that "Call Recording has Been Started" & Also When I turn Off the Call Recording.
Problem is that the Announcement can be Heard By Both The Parties so Other side Person will know that I started Call Recording.
That's Really a Big Problem for me and I Really can't Use This Call Recording Feature.

Here is the Play Store Link of the App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer
Google Phone Dialer Installed Version: 56.0.338781849
Is There any MOD Apk Version of This app which do not announce the Call Recording or any Trick or Hax is available for this?
I Tried Call Recorder - Cube ACR v2.3.185 [Pro] but it doesn't record the call. I don't know it's some kind of restriction or what but it doesn't work.
In My Phone Stock Android 10 QPI30.73-33 Is running with November Security Patch.
If Any body can Provide me Any Solution for this then it will be really helpful for me.
Thank You.

Sorry but it's a feature of the Google dialer. As far as I know, in some regions, for recording a call you need consent of both parties talking (it is by law, if I've gotten it right). Hence the announcement "this call is now being recorded". You can't bypass it on the default dialer. If you really need to, you're better off using a 3rd party one, although I'd highly suggest you not to (as long as it's not a FOSS alternative. I don't trust strangers with my dialer app).
edit : as I see, the screenshot says the same thing, so well, now you know.

Which app did you end up installing? I used to have ACR but they don't really support root and apparently neither do they Android 12.
For me, Call recorder by Skvalex is the best call recorder in the market, the playstore version has some featuers blocked by google, so I would advise to use the version on the website.

The free version may work for you. My needs for it are rather precise so I paid for it.
I had a license for Skvalex from 2017 so I was able to utilize this with the app without paying again which is cool so no complaints here. The only nitpick I have is the fact that it records the ringing of the calls and not when the person picks up lol.

Question Call recording

Hi everyone, i am a bit new to this forum. I would like to do call recording on my s23 ultra, but i am a bit confused, in my options there is no call recording button. After looking on the forum i understood that i needed to change the csc, what does it stand for, my samsung is from europe, i was wondering if anyone could help me out here.
Cheers
You can change the CSC and get call recording built-in the firmware or you can use an app
I recommend the app called skvalex call recorder. You download it from his website then if you want premium features you purchase the unlock app from the playstore.
His app can work completely offline, so no data collection, the essentials of recording work without buying premium, premium unlocks cloud backup of recordings but it's not truly needed.

CSC is the firmware location in the device that tells the phone what software and settings to use. So changing the CSC tells the phone you changed it's home location. It's not dangerous if done properly with the right research, but you certainly can stop yourself from getting software updates from Samsung, and remove Google pay or Samsung pay or other apps if you're not careful when picking a new CSC. Most people from what I've read switch to India CSC but I never have changed mine. Looked into it before and decided not to after running into too many errors because mine from US doesn't have more CSC built-in like other countries do so I'd have to change my whole firmware instead of settings in the firmware.
Please continue this discussion in this thread to avoid duplication: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/s23-call-recording-possibility-of-changing-csc.4548227/
