Arc Lighting adds a highly customizable ring of light around the camera cutout of your phone. You can use this light with various indicators such as audio visualization, notification lighting, critical or low battery warnings, as well as a charge indicator. The ring can also appear on your Always-On display. (to make aod work you need to make sure you have downloaded always on amoled and activated it, you also need to make sure samsung stock aod and samsung edge lighting is disabled under samsung display settings you also need to make sure that aod is enabled under arclighting with override set to off)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FibMTD5Mdx8
Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for the Galaxy S20, S20 ultra, S10e, and Note 10 and noteplus devices. Select a variety of colors, animations, and styles.
- Always show ring with various gradient effects (add multiple colors and make them spin for a visual experience)
- An adjustable glow effect that can be turned on or off (sometimes this can cause the light to freeze to a white glow this will be fixed)
- Notification lighting both when the display is on or off (update planned for only the lockscreen or only inapp)
- Music lighting that syncs the light to your music (does not work together with other indicators so other indicators will stop working if you enable music lighting this will be fixed)
- Battery indicator lighting for charging, low and critical battery states. (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appearm, not configuring zones can freeze the light entirely this will be fixed)
- Device overheating indicator for gamers and power users (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear, not configuring zones can freeze the light entirely this will be fixed)
- Arc Lighting can be configured to match the color of your wallpaper, the app you're currently in, or both! (this only works for the only show ring and only when you set it to a solid color the option is not available for gradient colors which will be added later)
This app requires certain permissions to function correctly.
Accessibility: This permission is used for the ring to appear over your lock screen, always-on display, and for accessing the color of the current app you're in. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Draw Over Other Apps: This permission allows the ring to show on top of other apps. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Microphone Access: This permission is used to analyze the internal device audio for the music lighting. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to enable the Audio Visualizer indicator for the ring.
Storage Access: This permission is used to get the color of your wallpaper. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to use the color of your wallpaper for the ring.
Notification access: This permission is used to change the color of the ring after notifications
Burn-in concerns: Some Android displays may suffer from mild burn-in if a single item is displayed on the screen for an extremely significant amount of time. If you are concerned about this, feel free to enable the rotation animation in ring settings. That will ensure the display is constantly changing. Alternately, you can disable the default effect to only show the ring while an indicator is being triggered. Note: Samsung Galaxy devices come with burn-in protection that moves the pixels a little each time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
how do i disable individual notifications: currently this is a planned update, you can go into custom colors and set each app you don't want notifying to 100% transparent
light is constantly flashing even if i cleared all notifications: sometimes theres forced notifications such as when you're charging it will force a notification that says you're fast charging, the light will pick up on these you need to hold on these notifications and turn them off to stop the light there should be nothing at all in the notificationpanel, if you still have a flashing light with nothing in the panel contact me.
frozen light: music lighting will disable all other indicators same with battery indicator or battery temp indicator, you need to set custom zones otherwise the light will be frozen, glow also tends to freeze the light so turn that off if it's frozen (this will be fixed in a coming update)
How does it work if the front display is set so the camera is above the top of the display (as the OnePlus 8 can do)

Doesn't work on OP8 Pro with 'Hide the front camera' set in phone settings

Just tried it, and it doesn't work as you'd hope - the ring moves down with the adjusted screen position so it's no longer around the camera. I don't use my phone in that mode so it's not an issue for me.
On a happier note it's quite a cute app. Takes a bit of getting used to though.
One to watch out for: If the 'Enabled' switch is turned off (during the test process) then it drops the 'Accessibility Service' permission. Unfortunately the app doesn't realise that (seems to only test on app startup), so when you re-enable it the app then doesn't work (cos the Accessibility Service permission has dropped). To get around I 'force stopped' the app then started it again. It then does the service check and comes up with the pop-up.
Look forward to having a default 'Off' setting so I can enable only for a few specific apps - I have a lot of apps on there and setting them all to 100% transparent is more work than I fancy.
Cheers, Dave

could you explain what you mean by ring moves with the adjusted position, and thank you for reporting the bug.
Hi! Is it possible to get a code for the oneplus 8 notification light app? I'd be glad to test it out !
Thanks
On my Oneplus 8 IN2013 your ring stays a little bit outside the camera hole.
The camera is a little bit lower and to the left.
DM me if you need help.
In my device too the ring is a bit off. I attached a screenshot
This is a great idea. I miss the LED indicator so much after I bought oneplue 8. The position of the ring is not accurate, however, it locates a little up-right of the camera. Hope you can fix it and I will definitly give it a try. Thanks.
Awesome app, like it a lot - is there a way to send some money your way to get rid of the ads, too?
Registered for the Beta, hope it fixes the position issue on the OnePlus 8
Update: Just paid for the full version, got the beta, but none of the cutout settings have any effect on my OnePlus 8, cutout stays in the wrong position.
it seems, the developer was not accounting for the oneplus 8 and 8 pro being different screen sizes please try this file and tell me if it works

Hi zzcool,
at my Oneplus 8 the cutout isn´t placed around the punch hole, the cutout position can´t be chanced either.
Cheers!
Can I get a code for the app too?
Just tried it on the OP8,
The ring is set slightly wrong. The camera is a bit to the left and lower.
There are several problems with the app (in my op8). The ring always appears even if you unlock the screen. The ring cannot be adjusted around the hole of the camera. And most importantly, for the ring to show me when the screen is off I have to have the "Override system" option activated, but when the ring is activated the fingerprint sensor also appears (and does not disappear). This can burn the screen over time and increase battery consumption.
Would love to have code for this one
Great work !!
I'd like a code for the premium edition if you'd be so kind?
I'll leave a review on the play store when I've used it
Thanks!

Introducing Pixel Pulse - a simple app to make your Ambient Display pulse when you have notifications!
Choose the interval and select the apps you want you to cause your screen to wake.
Optional paid features let you select different icons and colors for specific apps but the interval and app filter core functionality is all free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.compass.pixelpulse
If you had previously purchased Ambi-Turner, it has been updated for the new permissions, but because it was written for 8.0 and when Google's ambient display worked differently I decided to leave it as it is. You may however transfer your purchase status of Ambient Display to Pixel Pulse using both apps.
FIRST!
So, I've installed and tested and here are my initial findings:
It works great and looks gorgeous!
If you have your notifications set to display the notification contents, those contents will also flash on the screen.
The default display interval of 60 seconds works perfectly, but when I set it to 30 seconds, it flashed approximately every 10 seconds for some reason.
The notification it chooses to flash doesn't appear to be based on the most recent received or highest priority. Can you explain how the app knows which notification to flash on the display?
So far, there is no way to interact with the notification. Swiping away or double tapping do nothing.
The only way to wake the phone is to press the power button or fingerprint scanner.
This is a great start and I hope you please keep up the great work! I will be donating to the cause!

The times were accurate on my pixel 2, but my pixel 3 which only just arrived, was being stopped. Probably due the aggressive process killing I've read about. So this morning I quickly added a secondary wake to keep it from being killed. I'll sync the times when I get home from work.
It uses the natural order of notifications. A priority option would be a good idea.
No interaction yet, but that's planned. So is a blackout period (don't pulse when you're sleeping for example).
Ignore my comment about the notification priority - that was user error.
Feature request: Can you add an option to have the ambient display stay on (no pulsing) until the user bypasses the ambient display screen? The flashing of the ambient display is a little distracting when the phone is on a desk. This way, we could still tell at a glance when we have a notification waiting, but the screen will go back to all black once we act on it or simply unlock the phone.
I can try but it may not be possible without root.

I haven't noticed a battery drain issue, but I'm hoping xda can help find one if it exists. I'm not actually turning on the screen so doze should remain active.

Ah, I see. I have not actually run your app. I did not realize that your were pulsing the notifications themselves -- that's clever! For my own implementation, I am animating a fake LED that fades in and out, which obviously requires the screen to be on. The AOD has a way to doze with the screen on, but I have not found a way to expose that functionality to an app without root.
Anyhow, I see you are using setExactAndAllowWhileIdle to schedule your pulses. I wonder what the battery (and timing) impact is compared to setAndAllowWhileIdle?
Nice work on this!
I originally went down the road of doing a custom screen to mimic the LED until I came up with this idea.
From other threads I've seen some people will prefer that even if it uses slightly more battery.

Hi mate, i bought your app right away. If you can integreat the original Icons for the famused apps, that would be great.

just as it is perfect now, only the repetition time does not work reliably
There is a possibility that the AOD stays on until the message has been read

Hi is this app only usable to Google Pixel phones???
Man this sounds like an awesome app however I'm on an LG V30 (which also doesn't have an LED but this doesn't seem to work. The notification interaction feature alone would be worth the donation.
I'll mess around some more and see if I can get anything
Get actual Samsung Edge Lighting Notifications with any app while your screen is off!
Since we all know Samsung only did half the job with this feature, this app will enable you to trigger Edge Lighting (the real one !) when your screen is off. It works with any app by reading the app notification creating a new temporary notification that triggers edge lighting (you won't notice it in your notification list).
You can set custom color filters for your apps, based on their names.
Real Samsung Edge Lighting
Extremely minimal battery drain
No fake AOD Screen
Works with ANY app (including Messenger!)
Initial setup is a bit tedious, but that's mostly Samsung's fault.
Any suggestion to improve the app is -of course- welcome!

Thanks for your answer , but with Always On edge I can have the notch notification untill I read it. With the edge lightning I have only the lighter when the notification come. I like to have both.
I was using always on edge and holey light together to have this effect but this affect the battery so I was looking for another solution.

Well I use my app for Edge Lighting (around the edges, not the notch) to see when a notification comes, and Holey Light to remind me of unread notifications.
I can't seem to get it to work. I have edge lighting set to always. But when my screen is off it doesnt work. I'm actually getting only this app's notification with it's color (black)

On my S10e it is working.
But I probably do not fully understand philosophy of the edge light at all or something, because for what is this good for when it only do the effect one time, which takes only few seconds and thats all.
How will this help me to alert to SMS for example when I get back near the phone and look at it?. Or it is not ment as substitute for notification LED?

No it's not meant as a substitute for notification LED. First release was actually on phones that had a notification LED. It's just a pretty way to display notifications. And if your screen is off, it will prevent it from turning on.

Edge Lighting just makes the notification more noticable if the phone is in view, that has always been its only purpose. It allows you to see, by color, what the notification is. It is not and never was meant to a substitute for the notification. Now, if you use Holey Light and Edge Lighting you can have both...
Can't wait to try this. Curious though, how did you learn to make Android apps in a day then upload it to the play store that quick. I started learning a while ago for games and still not the best at it and uploading to the play store normally take max of 24 hours to get on to the store lol.
The app is working great, however, these would be my suggestions for a slight improvement:
1: Add a search function, as the list can be quite long.
2: After you switch on an app, move it to the top of the list, so that when you enter the app all of the ones marked "on" would be at the top.
I can't think of anything else as it is working just fine.
What happens when multiple notifications come in? Will it cycle through them?
Yes
Just tried it but I am sticking with just Holey Light. It would be nice to have this maybe cycle back on for a set amount of time so you could use it as a notification light.
Original Thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/app-amoled-notification-light-t3943715
So I was annoyed not having an LED notification light on oneplus 6t so I tried to make one of my own.
As OP6T has amoled display whenever a desired notification comes the app brings in a black screen with notification LED looking animation.
Though this is tested on OP6T, it should be working for most Android Oreo and later phones.
To use it:
Install App.
Disable Ambient Display and any battery optimisation for the app.
Give notification access permission.
Select apps you want notifications for, by choosing a color (Only apps you set a color to enables LEDs).
Note: 1. On successfully selecting a color for an app the text in which the App name is written should change to that color
2. Don't enable the LED for the "Phone App" as it will interfere when an incoming call is coming! Will fix this in next build
Thats it.
Note: To turn off the LED and to unlock phone double tap anywhere on the screen.
Also on pressing power button once the LED stops and on pressing it again it will bring you to lock screen.
App now available on Play Store, please rate and share if you liked the app.
Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xander.android.notifybuddy
Working Video: https://youtu.be/vFKiHS_ZD-k
If the app is not working check whether the Notification Service is running under Developer Option > Running Services, this service is required for the app to work as intended.
If it is not running after various troubleshoot measures, maybe send the logs.

Nope it won't burn the screen as LED is shifting towards right every time.
Stop timer is the time after which the "LED" will stop after receiving notification.
please mention digits(seconds/minutes) in slider of led time interval & stop timer. working fine with S10.thanks
I couldn't make it work...
Great !!
Very simple & the first one that perfectly works with the screen off.
Next step a circle around the camera ?
Thanks for the work
It does use a bit of battery....
Great app. But the approximately Sensor doesn't responding. Does anybody confirm this?
If „don’t disturb“ is enable no notification light appears.
Is there any way of getting premium features without play services? I would love to use the unlock with fingerprint option
Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for the Galaxy S20, S20 ultra, S10e, and Note 10.

Can you give me an unlock code for Arc Lighting-Notification Light for Galaxy S20 Ultra? Thank you!
Edit: Also, the indicator is a bit big for the new camera size of the Galaxy S20/S20+/Ultra. I thought I'd let you know so you can have a setting to make it a bit smaller.

Hello,
This app seems really great!
I still have one question though - is there a way to show notification light when screen is off and when I tap the screen then the AOD shows its info while still Arc lightning pulses its notification?
I tried to do this on my S20 but I couldn't find a way through the settings. Probably I am missing something...
Thank you,
Vasil

Thanks a lot for your response. I already tried with Arc Lighting app but it didn't work as I expected that's why I asked here for advise. Probably what I want to achieve is not possible. Thanks again!

Cool app, gonna use it from now on
not working on my s20 ultra.
I am using a different app, but that one is draining battery and the battery on s20 ultra is already ****ty haha. So how is the battery consumption for this app?
Possible to get a code ?
Thx in advance..

People can afford a $1000 phone but cannot donate 1 dollar to get the app. Stop asking for codes if the dev wants he will mention about the codes in OP.

i give codes to everyone who asks as it's a way to give back to the community and get some more users, but i can't see if i don't get messages sent to me as i go through them in bulk, it's impossible keeping track of multiple different threads
would any kind admin or someone i can trust take care of sending out codes, i can't keep up with all this and my life which makes it take weeks for me to send out codes, people also never bother to redeem the codes making me have 50 codes that eventually expire, i don't have unlimited codes, i'd also appreciate if people who received the codes rated the app, i am getting a lot of 1 star ratings now so it would help a whole lot right now, people rate 1 star just asking me to give them the app for free as unfortunately once people know they can get something for free they use it, i tried to be quiet about it as i didn't want people to take advantage over me, one person literally gave a 1 star rating with the word "free?" that genuinely hurts
Hey awesome app
Can you provide the unlock code.
Thank you

Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for the Galaxy S20, S20 ultra, S10e, and Note 10.

This may be a good replacement to the good ol' notification LED, thanks !
For me it reports, that the Oneplus 8 Pro is not supported.
But i agree, this app could be really handy without notification LED or AOD

But Op8/Pro is in compatible device list ?
have I been tricked ? :/
It will be supported early or late I guess, this is no sorcery
Awesome, thanks for providing this app and offering free access to xda member. I'd be happy about an unlock code once the oneplus 8 pro is officially supported, so far it didn't work properly.
Thanks buddy!
