I love that OnePlus gives us the option to use either gesture or three-button navigation. But I wish we had two-button navigation too! It's the best of both worlds! The good news is that it's super easy to enable Two Button Navigation with a super quick and easy ADB command. You will need USB Debugging enabled on your phone and ADB installed on your computer.
ADB Command: adb shell cmd overlay enable com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.twobutton
Check out the video here to see it in action.
If you are on Android 11, the first method will not work. Please watch this video for instructions on how to get Two Button Navigation working on Android 11 (root required):
Would you happen to know how to get the original OnePlus gestures back to? Just figured I'd ask. Thanks.

they were the OnePlus gestures found on the OnePlus 6t that's what I came from and the back was a swipe up from the bottom corner of the left or the right side and then swipe up home was straight up from the center and then recents was swipe up and hold and then you can also jump to your last app that you opened by swiping up and to the right.

So it took me a few minutes to refresh my memory but I figured out what you're looking for! Good news is that I have the answer, bad news is that it's not what you're looking for.
When Google rolled out Android 10 they basically gave OEM's requirements on how the navigation bar had to work. The old implementation you're looking for is OnePlus's take on gesture navigation and Google basically says don't do it. So when they rolled out the OnePlus 7, they got rid of that option.
There might still be a way to enable it, but I haven't found anything yet. If I do, I'll be sure to let you know!
Here's a really good write up that explains the change. https://www.xda-developers.com/google-gesture-navigation-android-10/

Yes should be nice...
On 6T Android10 , we have both options to choose, google implementation and this one from OnePlus, for gesture navigation..
I believe this app will provide you all the gestures you need, posted elsewhere on these forums.

FWIW, Google doesn't force OEMs to get rid of their own gesture implementation - they just have to hide it behind one extra Settings layer. For example, on the OPPO Find X2 Pro running ColorOS 7.1, you can still enable the swipe-up gestures (the same one from older versions of OxygenOS) as well as Google's full-screen gestures.

I wish it was a bug! Unfortunately, it's 100% by design. With Android 10, Google basically retired any navigation options that weren't their gesture or three-button options. Manufacturers can still include their own options but they have to do it in a submenu and can't use the Google framework files for it. They basically have to repack a bunch of files to get their stuff in the right spot on the menus, to get the overlay to work correctly, and then they have to still push the Google options as the default. It's just not cost-effective for OnePlus (or any manufacturer other than maybe Samsung) to use another option now. This method worked because OnePlus already had the work done on the framework, they just didn't update the menu to show their navigation options. With Android 11, there was enough of a rebase going on that they didn't go through the effort of adding it back in. But hey, this is XDA. I'm sure we'll see some mods in the future that will bring it back though!

Yes I use my phone one handed all the time, or at least I used to. Now I have to fumble with the phone to use a second hand or try to pinch zoom one-handed. Quite annoying.
I have searched Google and there are reports over the years of the feature being missing but nothing seems specific to N5X or Marshmallow...
I think most people don't know the feature is there and that is why they don't notice it missing.

I can really feel ur pain but also cant imagine they removed it Most of my friends have Android phones in all classes like old or new some are flashed with CM or something and i think it works there everywhere... Im sure for the Most phones.
What i read is that some had this Problem, because if you enable "zoom gestures" in accesability settings, it dont works. Maybe you check that?
I will also see hows on the nexuses here, tomorrow. But im pretty sure the dont removed it. Its a bug when. There would be apps and xposed modules at least to bringt that functionality back...

Yes I can't imagine they removed it, I think it must be a bug. I had this feature working just last week on my Nexus 5 (2013) before I got the 5X. I was running Cataclysm (AOSP 6.0 + tweaks I think) and the feature was there.
I also read about the zoom gestures, but that can't be it because it was never enabled... until I started searching all the menus of the phone to remedy the problem and found that zoom gesture (was disabled when I found it, but I enabled it in an effort to bring back the one-handed zoom). The gesture offers some one-handed zoom but it is really crap in comparison to the regular double-tap + slide. After messing around with the "triple tap magnify" in accessibility menu and finding it crappy, I disabled it. Still no double-tap slide zoom. Garrgh..

Well here's an update. I noticed I DID have the double tap + slide to zoom feature in chrome, but only on particular pages and only if I tapped in certain spots on the page. I'm probably just an idiot.
Regardless, I've unlocked, rooted, and flashed Cataclysm last night. No issues. Double tap + slide to zoom works as expected. Case closed!
I installed marshmallow today and my zoom feature no longer works on chrome either. I have a Samsung s6 edge
Want true fullscreen in any 7.1.1 Nougat rom? Want to be able to get maximum viewing space on your 6p? I have a treat for you!
Although the 6p screen is very large, I'm a huge proponent of maximizing screen real estate.
I found this setup is awesome because it gives you so much more viewing screen for everyday use. For example, in Chrome, now you can see so much more of a web page and it makes your viewing space so much better:
1) All in One Gestures App: enable fullscreen (within the app to get true fullscreen/immersive mode. Expanded desktop rocks. Massively improved viewing space baby!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...gestures&hl=en
2) Download Swipe Navigation App: from playstore. This is AWESOME. Enables swipe gestures to navigate and swipe as opposed to having a physical navbar. This saves huge amounts of screen real estate. At the bottom of the screen, left swipe up is back, middle swipe up is home, and right swipe up becomes recents. (This is so cool).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...vigation&hl=en
3) In a build prop editing app (I recommend BuildProp Editor), paste this line and save:
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1
(this removes the on-screen navigation bar, now you have awesomely improved screen real estate!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...p.editor&hl=en

Hmm. Keyboard won't work when you enable immersive mode in All in One Gestures. Kind of a deal-breaker.
Edit: tried out Swipe Navigation and the build.prop edit. Works perfectly right now. I was a little worried after restarting the phone because the Swipe Navigation app didn't start right away (I couldn't back out of an application, lol). But it started up in less than a minute and everything is good. I'm going to use for a while and maybe buy the $1.50 add-on that unlocks custom actions.

This app from the play store is the best that I have seen. Cost $1.99, I brought it with google play credits from the google surveys. It will give you the tiles in your toolbox and everything. The reason why you need to edit the build prop, is because, if you want to use Swipe Gestures (the easiest and superior method for nav bar-less navigation imo) is because otherwise now you have two extra steps. You swipe up from bottom, and now you wait for the nav bar to 'come up'. You then hit the button you want. Takes time.
With my method, you instantly navigate with a gesture. One lightning fast action. That's why removing the nav bar in build prop is so important.
Also, the app you suggested costs money. Can be done better and at absolutely no cost.

I clearly stated to download the beta that i posted. It's like three months ahead of the 'stable' SuperSU development cycle.

I flashed two other roms, and I was able to get the keyboard working in immersive mode in both.
Everyone felates and sucks off purenexus, but Uberstock runs circles around it in my opinion.
How to remove navigation bar (three button) in Android 11. NOTE: Root is required to use this method!
Hi guys! Please either move or remove this thread if it's either in the wrong place or covered by another thread. This thread is intended to walk through removing the three-button navigation bar in Android 11 since the traditional way ('wm overscan') doesn't work anymore.
This is useful for if you want to use an alternative gesture system, such as Fluid Navigation Gestures (FNG). Before you get started with the below, be sure you have enabled the replacement system first. FNG's built in navbar disabler doesn't work on Android 11, so you don't need to have this switched on.
Assuming you have root already (there should be plenty of tutorials available to help you out on this), all you really need to do is download Substratum Lite and nonavbar.apk (available at: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsqLR2yZd3fMiaV4fcCSAw7trgl8AQ?e=e9ncai). Choose to install nonavbar.apk, then it should show up as a theme in 'lite'. After pressing the NoNavBar theme, you should see 'Android System (android [11])' to the left of a checkbox. After checking this box, press the '1 SELECTED' button on the bottom right. Then, press 'Install selected', restart, and get back to this screen to finally 'Enable selected'.
See for screenshots: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HL48xhsZMPMkmcdV7
And at that, you should have your replacement gestures as your primary input now! Enjoy!
I'm by no means an expert, so my ability to help with questions is limited. Hope this helps!
Works perfectly on OP8 Pro with latest Android 11 update. Thanks a lot.
I would appreciate if there is the way to completely
hide status bar in android 11 with "no display cutout magisk module".
Been searching this for awhile now. Thanks for the solution, works great
Amazing! Thanks so much for looking into this, was very torn away when I couldn't disable nav bars given I used immersion mode with FNG on Android 10. Tried this on android 11 and it worked. Actually for Galaxy OneUI devices I don't need to be rooted.
You can just use the substratum lite and install synergy - OneUI compiler app. It will apply the modifications on a built in OneUI theme.
Question; how did you find or created that nonavapp.apk?
Since android 11 came out and google pulled that overscan crap, I have been scouring the net for a solution to use FNG. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
As the creator of the Fullscreen/Immersive gestures module, I'll just say, thanks for offering users the ability to use their favorite alternative navigation methods on Android 11
It's really unfortunate that people have to be either forced to use Android's standard navigation gestures (which quite a few people dislike) or an impossible to be hidden 3 button navbar (due to the removal of Overscan)
Keep up the good work
On Pixel 5, after enabling NoNavBar, there's a delay when switching between camera modes. It goes from 1 sec without it enabled to almost 5 second after enabling it
Works perfectly fine on my 7T Pro running OOS Beta 1! Thanks!
Works on great on mi A3! Thanks a lot!
Works great, but, could you possibly build it for the "normal" substratum?
Thanks a lot
Excellent work!
I was looking for a solution to this problem with FNG.
Now, If I can say something about this, in my case, the Home Gesture (Swipe Up) dindt work. I reboot the phone and nothing happened. After some minutes, I decided to try this:
Configuration > Adittional Settings > Full Screen Display > Activate the option "Full Screen Gestures".
This way, I could to use the Swipe Up gesture.
To finish, I would like to know what to do to undo all this configuration when I decide not use FNG anymore. I'd really appreciate it.
NOTE: I have a xiaomi phone (MI 9).
Substratum lite is free, but it requires another app called synergy (it's just $2, but it's annoying to have to pay for it). haha
Either way, this tutorial worked very well for my galaxy s10+, so that I could use FNG instead of the new navigation bar from android 11 (the new navigation bar is pretty good actually, but it's annoying as hell that it didn't let me disable the Google Assistant shortcut that is activated by holding the mid button). Thank you for this solution!
Thanks for this apk. I used to use XDA navigation gestures a lot on A10. Which I really miss a lot on Note 20 OneUi 3.1. so question is can I use this on a non rooted OneUi 3 with synergy and substratum lite?

@Fr1day_13 - thanks. I tried it under windows and it works, but not under Android. My fault!
I tried to enroll my device in the beta project for EMUI 11. Has not got a feedback through the app, but a month later has received OTA EMUI 11.
No huge changes, bit for a reason the interface looke better (pretty much IOS 14ish. More fluid, better performance as well as few pits and pieces here and there.
So far:
Text optimised cropping. I think it was there already, but now works better.
Better multitasking with apps drawn in a window while ongoing background apps/ interface working simultaneously.
Better visuals, closer to IOS ones (don't know who follows who, got lost a while ago and I don't really care). Actually I like the EMUI idea being a middle ground between iOS and Android
On the other hand, I believe that WiFi is not right with some connectivity issues.
However it's still early days, let's see how it goes

How did you enroll ? Beta app doesn't shows any option. Did you enroll on Chinese beta web page ?

I applied to the international version. Hasn't got a reply. But 2 weeks later got the OTA update.
I'm still on EMUI 9.1 because EMUI 10 ruined the speaker sound quality. How is it on EMUI 11?
Oh and the multi screen dock: does it let you launch all the apps you have in split screen or in a floating window, or only some approved apps?

sound quality is veeery subjective, so cant comment on that. especially since i wasnt on 9.x for long, updated to 10 almost instantly.
as for the multi window option, it basically lets u add any app to a sort of quick select, from which u can then create a bunch of floating windows (resizeable)

Thanks for the reply.
Would you say the sound quality of the speaker is the same as with EMUI 10?
And for the floating windows: it let's you add any app that's installed on your phone? Even let's say the "Settings" app?

it seems to be a tad louder than before, but again, very subjective.
as for the floating windows: as far as i can see, it only covers user installed apps, no system apps.

Thanks mate. Sorry for all the questions but I want to be sure that I'm upgrading to something I'm going to be liking.
One last question, about the floating apps. Can you only launch a floating app from the apps you've put in the dock? Or can you also launch them from the whole list of apps you get when you press the "+" icon (or do you have to put them in the dock first)?

no worries, happy to help. the dock has a total of 15 slots and can be configured freely with any user installed apps. once added, u can then open the apps from the dock as floating windows.

And is there any other way to launch a floating window or go to split screen? Or can you only do it with apps that are in that dock?

the dock is not always showing, if that is your worry. there is a shortcut gesture, dragging from the side of the screen towards the center and then hold a bit, that brings up the dock.
if i remember correctly, there is a different gesture that can activate split-screen mode with currently running apps. dont remember what that was though (i only ever use one floating window at a time, usually for watching a video while surfing the net or texting)

welcome to the EVR-AL00 EMUI 11 family where are u located?
Italy
Did EMUI 11 introduce a tap-to-wake feature for the front screen? I read they might include a back panel tap feature, but that is of less interest to me.

edit:
Uploaded on MEGA: https://mega.nz/folder/lPA3XSYB#K3sWqh0o0PGeUflujIq3vQ
Included MMS.apk as well as two services related to MMS (not sure if needed to install properly)
Also added the Call Recorder app since I saw so many people asking for it
Let me know if this works! Extracted it from the system partition in the "app" and "priv-app" folders.

Oh one last question: can you resize the floating window? EMUI 10.1 didn't let you resize it but maybe they've changed it in EMUI 11.

I am a huge fan of the old Two-Button Navigation that Google gave us with Android 9. I always try the latest and greatest with nav gestures and always come away feeling like they are lacking. Unfortunately, Google officially removed Two-Button Navigation with Android 10. Fortunately, there's a way to bring it back! And it's even easier now than it was before! Just install the Magisk Module and enable it in Settings.

Check out the video for a walk-through.

Yep! I originally put the files together for Oxygen OS 11 but they work for Android 12 as well. In fact, they work better for Android 12! I'm using it right now on my Pixel 6 and you can see it all in action in my video.
Hello, this does not work on OOS 12 on my OnePlus 9 Pro... When I activate it, I have the 2 buttons but I can't open the recent app drawer...

Dang! I haven't had a chance to try it on OOS 12 yet. I'll have to give it a try and see what I can figure out.

The link won't take you directly to the files like in the video. IDK if they were moved or what, but you can find them pretty easily if you navigate through the folders and find one named "Magisk modules". Confirmed that this does work on the Pixel 6 (oriole).

Actually, that's on me. I copied the link into Chat from my browser so I could click on it from my phone rather than trying to find the post from the app, because I'm lazy. Chat inexplicably only hyperlinked up to the "Misc" folder, so I essentially clicked on https://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Misc Disregard then.

Lol that's actually not you at all! That's 100% on me and the noob I was when I built the site 10+ years ago. I put a space in "Misc Files" instead of an underscore or something and most browsers don't like spaces. I've wanted to fix that for years but it would require some massive overhauls and updating hundreds of links all over the Internet. Sorry for the pain!

I've been using this on Android 13 since it's official launch on Pixel, and the swipe up to go to recents gesture isn't working anymore.

working fine on pixel 6a with A13.

was also wondering: is there a way to reorient back button from left to right?

Can you try testing the following:
Turn off Auto Rotate.
Turn your phone sideways while using an app that supports sideways view.
Check if the "rotate display" icon appears.
The reason I am asking is because the "rotate display" icon no longer shows up for me after updating to Android 13.
