Fingerprint sensor problem after device reboot - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I have weird problem. My device is Kate, unofficial ubl. Already tried many custom rom, twrp 3.3.1 installed. Magisk 20.3
However, I have noticed that all custom roms I tried, always have problem with fingerprint unlock. I never encrypt the phone.
So the problem is : everytime I have flashed new rom, doing setup, with lockscreen and pin, fingerprint have no problem.
But when I reboot the phone : either from magisk, or by power button, then the fingerprint unlock not working. I need to manually go to twrp and delete : *.key and locksettings.* files.
But this doesn't solve the problem. With miui rom MM, I never have problem.
Procedure to flash new rom I'm using :
1. Wipe dalvik, cache, system, data
2. Factory reset
3. Format Data
4. reboot to recovery
then flash rom and others.
I even did wipe my internal storage due to desperation on this same problem but it didn't fix the issue.
Now I'm on miui ported rom, Nougat, using Magisk 20.3, and kernel Escrima X28-Kamui-Lightning Blade.
Any solution or is this lockscreen bug ?
Thank's

YouTube not working, multiple rom issue

I load up YouTube app, and the app loads up, but no content.
I tried Lineage with gaaps and pixel experience where you don't need gaaps flashed.
I cleared cache, Dalvik, cache of the app, uninstall and reinstall app. It's just odd the same issue persists with multiple roms.
Plz explain/help?
Hi i av the same problem did you find a solution to fix this thanks
Greetings. Thank you for posting your issue. I've had the same issue recently.
My problem was that the persist partition got wiped for some random reason. This seems to be a common issue on this device, and most likely you're facing the same problem. For me, apart from YouTube, all the sensors of the device stopped working as well (auto-rotation for example).
To fix this do the following:
1) Make sure you're using the latest TWRP from HavocOS (here)
2) Flash MIUI v10. I used MIUI v10.3.1 from xiaomi.eu (here), but you can use whichever you want, without any trouble.
3) Boot the device. Let it load... then back to recovery. Wipe System, Data, Dalvik and Cache
4) Flash the ROM you want to use
hi i tried your method but on boot i keep getting encryption error unsuccessful

I got same issue, can't set fp,,only face unlock works perfectly
also latest global rom won't allow installing twrp. need to flash older version of official miui rom to get recovery
Easy fix to fingerprint issue in Newer Xiaomi EU ROMs
This is how I got rid of this fingerprint problem.
1. First you need to flash Orangefox recovery for redmi 5 ( any custom recovery like twrp would work but I recommend Orangefox since I know it will work )
2. Then after entering recovery, click reboot then click recovery. If it don't reboot to recovery use the power button + volume up combo to re-enter recovery.
3. Go to wipe section and click format data. Type yes then enter.
4.Again reboot to recovery.
5. Wipe everything except internal storage and sdcard.
6. Reboot to recovery.
7. Flash xiaomi EU ROM v8.9.6 for redmi 5. Wait for flashing. Click wipe cache. No need to wipe data or anything.
8. Reboot system.
9. Complete the setup and add fingerprint.
10. Reboot to recovery and install any xiaomi EU ROM you want. But don't ever wipe data. Wiping data will wipe fingerprint data and you will get fingerprint error
11. Don't do anything extra just reboot system. Booting will take some time than usual. Its just for first time. Enjoy your new ROM with fingerprint and face lock and without bloat. :fingers-crossed:

Reboot system. Setup fingerprint.
Reboot recovery and flash the desired EU ROM without wiping anything. Just reboot system.
Hit thanks if it helped you.

On the 10. rom before start flashing the old 8.9.6?
Because the error occurs after flashing the rom but before it is completely installed (I don't arrive at the initial configuration of the phone because it resets first).

You need to reset the phone completely before installing EU 8.9.6

It worked!
Before installing the eu 8.9.6 rom I ran from recovery (twrp)
- factory reset
- format data
- wipe cache, dalvik cache, system and data
:good:

Please, I need your help

Hi guys, I need your help.
I've tried to update the rom with the latest beta Omnirom (30/06), directly from TWRP.
All the steps I followed, hoping it's usefull:
- removed the PIN from the system;
- made a full backup (from TWRP);
- installad latest vendor;
- installed latest Omnirom beta;
- wipe caches;
- reboot.
The phone is in bootloop; ufortunately, plus in TWRP the touchscreen is unresponsive and I have to reboot until it works.
I tried to flash just the rom beta or to restore the backup, without success.
EDIT: after flashing a older vendor and, again, Omnirom, the phone booted.
I don't know if it's related or not, but now, every app that I open, I see it in rotated horizontally, also if I have disinibited the rotation!
Any idea?
Thanks a lot,
Nic.

I never recommend dirty flashes.
I would say that your problem is more than likely because you didn't wipe the system clean and start fresh.
Since you've already made backups of your data, I would suggest trying these steps:
Boot to TWRP
Format data, type yes to confirm
Go back to wipe / advanced
Select everything except USB and SD card.
Swipe to wipe.
Go back to the main menu.
Reboot to recovery.
Now flash the latest firmware, ROM, gapps
Also flash DFE if you want to disable the encryption.
Wipe cache when done.
Reboot.
Thank you BentMetal.
As you see from the EDIT, I solved the problem flashing a older vendor and the same updated rom.
For the other problem (screen rotation), solved by disabling display setting (auto rotate) and re-enabling again.
Now I just need to remove the touch screen freezing problem... very annoying.
It's a specific issue about a part of Pocophone who use a different touch screen.

i have the same issue, tried different recovery projects, OFRP and TWRP. both seem to have the same issue, with the message "encryption unsuccessful" and if i tried to press the "RESET DEVICE" button i get stuck in a boot loop.
i also factory reset my device, formatted everything via the recovery project menu then booted into recovery and installed the CUSTOM ROMS.
tried also to DFE but nothing seem to change even with encryption disabled.
but i scarcely manged to bypass this issue by; after wiping everything boot into recovery and install whatever rom you want and install gapps after it, better still install firmware vendor if the rom of your choice doesnt include them.
never mind, i fixed it.
in my case i was trying to flash LineageMicroG 16 on my Device and i kept getting that error and i did the following to fix it;
wiped everything and wrote "yes" to format the date and swiped for a factory reset through recovery wipe option then i booted into recovery and flashed LineagemicroG 16 after that i flashed optimus drunk kernel and booted into system and everything seemed to work fine, the kernel is what fixed the problem.

Redmi note 4 keeps rebooting with custom roms

Hi, I've recently repaired my mido with a new screen after a fall. After this I tried some custom roms. Initially I managed to install lineage 18.1. After I switched to dotOS. From this point on, the phone restarts a few seconds after the launcher appears. To fix this I used MiFlah to install latest MIUI, formatted data, wiped everything, tried TWRP and Orangefox, tried other custom roms with no changes. Now only stock MIUI11 works. Other custom roms (included lineage) gets the phone continuously rebooting. Could be an hardware problem? What am I doing wrong? It is the first time in ages I have problems flashing ROMS .-.
Thanks.

The vendor partition could have some code/ file that persists stock ui or system
and make sure your phone was rooted before flashing custom rom
and also via twrp flashing. from what Ive seen flash in twrp before flash custom rom( https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=disable+encryption+treble ) then flash the "verity and encryption disabler ,theres another one to re enable encyption only " then flash custom rom
after flashing custom rom reboot poweroff(switch phone off via twrp)
reboot into twrp and flash whatever else you need
now reboot to system and your phone should work fine
Thanks, it worked!
I did:
Flash last miui with miflash
Flash recovery
Flash you suggested zip
Format data
Flash lineage 17.1 (android10)
WIpe system, data, cache, art cache
Flash any android 11 ROM

Holy **** how did you come up with this.
Either the zip with Magisk somehow fixed it or installing the android 10 rom somehow. Either way doesn't make sense

Didn't work for me,
- did all the steps , exactly - flashed stock fastboot , then flashed Android 10 based rom crDroid + pico gapps. worked fine for 2 hours or so .
but interesting enough , phone freezes then shutdown without restarting , then i would go and trun it back on , but fingerprint not working now

i think somewhere in the process the persist partition gets damaged .

so if you have magisk you can use a zip file to chmod 744 or 644 (it may be "chmod root 744" )the /persist partiton and thatll mean only true root has access
so 7 is read write execute 6 is read and write 4 is read only 5 is read execute i forgot which number was execute only 1 maybe?
so play with the permissions or look in the root folder for boot.p or permissions.sh then you can modify in there the permissions, it can cause bootloop , so always keep an original copy or youll hae to reflash(DISCLAIMER)
so you can pull the file using adb+root / or a root explorer
Copy it to phone then edit then copy to SDCARD
reboot to twrp then use shell/terminal "chmod 777" the partition where the file is / or read write everything
then copy the file and overwrite the original
