have you closed other application. As there is 100% chance that more of them are running in background
does it still lag? or you fixed it?

I think this is a bug in the touchscreen driver. Hopefully LG can fix this. If you touch the screen, CPU load goes up to 100%.

Yep, can't play some games cause of this bug
normally if the device lags you need to restart. restarting the device once in a while is normal for android devices. if you have task killer remove it and replace it with autokiller...work far more better that task killer. IMHO

That's not our case. As corwin said I believe that touch panel drivers are sh1t, this doesn't have anything to do with what you said.
i have the same problem.?mb the reason is tweaks(JIT en hw en)?
Does it happen in the stock ROM as well?
I think that trouch screen bug is the main reason for this problem.I hope that LG will solve this problem soon. But before i bought my p500 i read in some web, they write that this phone have develop with Google team and why have ****!!! problem like this.

where have you try it?
In some game or Neocore, every ROM laging when you touch screen.
Neocore score without touch 44 frame/s, with touch 15 frame/s.
This is maybe problem inside firmware.
Sorry for my English
Yah, you are not alone, I have that problem too.
It lags in games such as Heavy Gunner, and Raging Thunder 2, where I have to hold to boost, or shoot
I hope OC might help since when I held my finger anywhere in the screen I saw the cpu max out in the app system panel.
I have firmware V10c
get similar problem on solipskier (rooted and jit-ed)
I have the same issues.
Has anyone already contacted LG about this issue?
I don't think this is really a bad driver from LG (though I cannot comfirm that).
Native input and sensor events
Applications that use native code can now receive and process input and sensor events directly in their native code, which dramatically improves efficiency and responsiveness.
Faster event distribution
The plaform now handles touch and keyboard events faster and more efficiently, minimizing CPU utilization during event distribution. The changes improve responsiveness for all applications, but especially benefit games that use touch events in combination with 3D graphics or other CPU-intensive operations.
These are two of just a few of the awesome develpments for Gingerbread, and I believe these would help out on our model phones immensly. Thats why I am spending more time that I should be afterhours poking around 2.3. If only this was my job, and I could spend more than 2-4 hours a day on it before passing out...
can someone email LGs support and ask them?
I was ignored two months ago, just got a message from LG bot.."thank you for blah blah blah..we will reply blah blah" and nothing more I told them about the screen lag problem and asked for solution. I hope that Gingerbread will solve it, or that LG will provide some fix before Gingerbread will come out for our phone..

Any of you tried the PPSSPP emulator on the G5 yet? I am getting some performance issues and I was wondering if this is an optimization issue with the Snapdragon 820. If not, do any of you care to share your settings for the emulator on your G5?

There are a few videos on YT that give to best settings for S7 on certain games which should also apply to G5 since they share the same processor (well in US atleast)
Mess with the frame skip option in the emulator.
Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
Frameskip appears to fix audio jitter but actually worsens overall performance and responsiveness for me, I also have trouble getting Resistance: Retribution to be playable at all, is that particular to the game or is there something still not patched for the SD820?
i just tried resistance aswell as wipeout pulse.
it seems it does not matter that much if you change anything to the graphical settings.. in fact.. i could use fxaa, full resolution aswell as 16xAA without performance decrease so the problem does not seem to lie inside the rendering.
in wipeout pulse i noticed something..
i finished a race. in slow motion almost...
the second the score board becomes visible the game starts to run at full speed (max res, 16xAA, fxaa, ...) without any lag.
behind the scoreboard you can watch the game continue being played by AI.
as soon as you are in control of a ship, the game will start decelerating again.
fun fact: frame skip will work well in wipeout. multi threading will not have any effect.
resistance however seems unplayable to me. multi threading will make it unplayable.
Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Essential Phone under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
It is choppy and freezes a lot. I did not expect this from a highend phone
Mine has a slight chop to it especially if there are ads and pictures in the article. Usually it is fine.
My first device ran pretty smooth, but after 2 months the fingerprint scanner stopped working. I received a replacement unit this week and this just runs horribly. I don't know if this is a touchscreen issue or software. Scrolling through Youtube or a web page will seem to just hang and not move. The other day the phone just hung in the launcher. I'm getting more disappointed with this on a daily basis. I'm almost tempted to install the Oreo beta just to see if that improves things.
Scrolling is hands down much smoother on my 2 year old Nexus 5x. Hoping Essential can fix it. It's been choppy on all of the stock-based ROMs. AOSP/custom ROMs appears to be really smooth.
If you're rooted try a kernel control app & switch the gpu governor to CPU freq, userspace, or performance. That worked well for me. Especially cpu freq & performance.
Scrolling has been smooth on open beta 2 and 3.

Touch scrolling is very choppy on my device. Even the app drawer is choppy as hell. I was on OB3 and it was the same. The only fix for me on all ROMs is to set GPU governor to cpufreq or performance (which I believe are similar in keeping GPU clock mostly at max). In the past Lineage 14.1 was super smooth, but for some reason all Oreo based ROMs are just as choppy as stock. Fortunately, the GPU governor tweak works great until Essential finally releases a fix. I'll believe it when I see it. If the GPU governor tweak didn't work, I would have moved on to a different device.
I thought it was really smooth with the GPU performance governor until I used my friend's Note 8. That thing has some smooth scrolling.
This device has horrible scrolling stutter that doesn't seem will be resolved anytime before I pick up the OP6. It's unfortunate that there isn't a fix for this problem, despite having released supposed fixes. I miss the OP3, never had a single issue.
If you like a buttery smooth and readable/responsive experience, pick any other phone. This won't give it to you.
On beta 3 stock, never rooted.
I don't own the phone, but I read about the issue, and this sort of thing has really bugged me in the past. I'm curious: has anyone tested the refresh rate by going to vsynctester.com in Chrome? I wonder if the refresh rate is significantly off the reported value and resulting in an asynchronicity of sorts.

Haven't used this site before, but on my phone, it's reporting 60.3-60.7 Hz refresh rate, on a 60.7 Hz screen. The word on the right generally stays grey with only 1-2 flashes of blue or red.
That’s not perfect, but it’s not too off the mark. I was expecting something like 55 or 65hz if it were to be the source of the stuttering. It’s gotta be something else causing it, then.
I'm running 8.1 Beta and the only place I notice a slight choppiness is on my Google Feed page. Very smooth everywhere else.

For anyone who sees this and runs latest stock rom as of this reply, how is scrolling smoothness now? I am considering getting this phone for a relative but they come from a Nexus 6P and with that, smooth scrolling so switching to something like the PH-1 and have choppy scrolling. Is it any better than before?

It is an issue with the screen/digitizer so it is never going to get fixed. You can either up the responsiveness and get jitters or make it smooth but very unresponsive.
I've been using performance mode since the day I got the phone, so for the last 10 days, but I wanted to know - is it really worth it? I rarely play games, if I play them at all. I don't edit videos, do some photoshop work or whatever. I mainly use M20P for whatsapp facebook insta reddit and browsing.
So do I really need it or should I disable performance mode and get even more battery juice?

Not really seen any difference in performance with it, I tested but don't use it at all now.

The performance mode increases the GPU performance and doesn't have this much impact on the CPU.
So you will only notice it while playing games or doing some GPU-accelerated video editing - the everyday performance won't improve this much..
I think it changes the cpu's governor to respond faster to any solicitation (for me it unlocks a bit faster for example).
If you don't need extra battery life you can stick to performance mode.
But like others said, it's not a big change, it will still feel smooth and fast without performance mode.
Alright, I'll just do a test and if the battery lifr difference is significant, I'll turn it off. Thank you everyone
I didn't realize we even had a toggle for that. Too bad they treat it the way they do - it should be a list of apps that automatically turn it on when they are running. EMUI 9.1 has something kinda like that, except it is a group of optimized settings that have been pre-made for specific games. There are only about a dozen or so games on the list so far, which kinda makes it pointless. There were reports that Huawei had changed their mind and remove the performance toggle from the Mate 20 Pro at the last moment, because it made the phone heat up and didn't really gain anything. I have a zillion games on my phone but none of them are so GPU intensive that the phone struggles, haven't seen a need for this mode - yet.
I play tekken 6 on PPSSPP emulator, it runs the same with or without it, pretty much perfect.

In other words, what you're saying is basically there's no need to actually run it as the perfomance isn't significantly improved, likely not at all? And I don't even play games, I guess it's even more pointless for me? Lol

I think this is what "Game acceleration" mode is for...you select the apps and they will get a performance boost at the expense of battery. Never tried it myself, but I wonder if this is a "Performance mode" limited to those apps...that's how I look at it.

Game acceleration is the gpu turbo, performance mode is in battery settings,2 different things.
Be that as it may, general consensus seems to be that it is pretty much useless...
The performance mode was meant for a higher score on benchmarks. Huawei and a few other OEMs were accused of detecting popular benchmark apps and purposely tune their software to score higher on benchmarks. The performance mode was a result of public demand.

Yes. It is useless. There is no need to keep your CPU running at maximum in everyday usage. The phone can auto detect graphics intensive and CPU hungry apps, it will adjust automatically to the needs of different apps. Use the phone as it is for the best stress free experience.

this!
I think people have forgotten about the benchmark cheating controversy.
"optimisation" in benchmark apps (that is detection and different settings for benchmarks vs real world apps) was considered cheating (and rightly so)
so instead, huawei made the optimisations an option for the entire phone. only affects benchmarks afaik. maybe some intensive apps... but which apps right now would be considered power intensive for a phone (not a benchmark, an actual app).

I'm playing on medium graphics, max fps.
Lowering the fps to very high makes it look so bad that I dont even want to play br anymore.
Edit: i just tried it on very high fps medium graphics. Black screen 2x during the match.
Also fps very high gives me a headache. XD
Anyways tried so many settings, also in developer mode. Nothing helps. And I've played alot, currently 9300 ranked XP in BR. 1 or 2 crashes during every game.

I'm with you there I can lower the graphics to medium but I don't wanna lower the fps from max at all. It's something on the game side for sure. I come from playing on a Razer phone 2 and this used to happen even in multiplayer but this is the first time I've experienced it in a long while. Hopefully they get it fixed. Ever since my last post switched to low graphics with medium fps. It looks so bad but at least I only crash 1 time a game. The moment someone runs sideways though, I'm doomed because of the framerate. Hard to hit them.
Also noticed I crash more often when I play with friends.
I reached legendary mp halfway of April, basically only been playing BR these past 1,5 month thats why the high amount of XP. Would have been way higher without all the black screen losses.

Yeah its software related but its cod specific. They started blaming it on android 10 but it also happens on android 9.
It has gotten worse every new update so you cant blame it all on android.
On android 9 I noticed it getting a little bit worse every new season/update but still it was occasionally so I was ok with it.
Then android 10 came out and it got really really bad. Multiple times during the same game.
I ended up resetting and going back to android 9. Still black screens happened but it was 1x every 2 or 3 games.
22 May update got released and it got as bad as on android 10. Multiple crashes/black screen. (I'm not the only one, people on reddit noticed also increase after may 22 update)
Seeing as there was no difference between android 9 and android 10 anymore, I fully reset tablet back to android 10. At least on android 10 my tablet has the latest security updates.
So at this moment it doesnt matter anymore if you are on android 9 or 10. Cod crashes.
Tomorrow a new cod update gets released so lets hope that fixes things.
Also we should be expecting a new tab s6 update soon also if samsung keeps its promise. Quarterly updates, last update has March patch so June patch makes sense.

That's incredible XP. Lol! This was the first season I pushed in ranked was able to reach master 2 on both BR and Multiplayer. But I was playing on my RP2 there's no way I could have done it on the tab s6 with all the crashes. Your right it does look Bad at those settings BR isn't my fav game mode so I basically stopped playing after I reached the goal i had set. But I have been running the settings at Max everything and all other options turn on. I didn't pay another 700 for a tablet to run medium graphics you no what I'm saying. The frame rate difference from the tab s6 to the RP2 is crazy I never imagined it but it is. Even though CODM isn't 120hz supported I always ran 120 in my game booster settings and I'm miles better on the RP2. It's just so much smoother.
Maybe the CODM Devs will get it worked out. Im a controller player also I hope they finally add support for regular BT controllers not just Xbox and PS4. It's so janky feeling it should be so much better I no it's a mobile game but still who would have every thought we'd be gaming on phones and tablets why not use a controller if you can. I no some people like touch screen I just can't get it I'm a 80s kid I've always used a controller. Lol!
Something else I've noticed as of lately in Dev settings. Bluetooth Gatt Service always running at first I thought I had BT scanning still on but no. No scanning nothing at all Bluetooth related on and this is still running. I had a issue with a wallpaper last week when I tried to set said wallpaper my tablet shut down went into a boot loop. Ended up having to factory reset to get it back on. Scared me to death any way I no before this happened that I never saw this BT service running by itself. I'm kind of OCD about things running in the background. Anyone no how I can get rid of this? Or no what it is and why it needs to be running?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
