Fed up with this stock android ****, no I'm ok with the lack of customisation ..but the way Xiaomi is treating this brand the with all the bugs and mistakes in update I'm hoping to ..shift to the miui OS. But have some questions
1. When will I get the stable MI UI 12 for the mi a3
2. Will the camera 2 Api thing will be enabled by default on it like the stock android one rom
3. Once I'm on mi ui - 12 will I receive the OTA updates by default or il have to install them manually ?

1. Never
2. and 3. irrelevant, see above
4. bootloader unlocking does not void the warranty, bricking your device due to your own fault might be refused by service center as a warranty repair
Not sure why do you expect MIUI to be bug free, it has even more bugs/design failures than clean Android. If at all, I would move to Pixel devices (which are not bug free either though).

Not officially (not on locked bootloader, no OTA, no support by Xiaomi,..). Maybe someone will port it, but it's not as stable as stock ROM.

1) When xiaomi cc9e get the official miui 12, someone will port to mi a3
2) All new xiaomi`s phone have camera 2api enabled
3) Xiaomi Mi A3 with miui doesn´t have mota updates, all updates will have to install manually with recovery
4) recently xiaomi said that unlock bootloader not unable the warranty but, I think that depend of where do you buy the phone.
I use miui in my mi a3 and i dont have any problem. I think that is better than android stock in mi a3. miui is better with amoled display for me.

Miui 12 Mi A3 (Ported!)
Hello everyone!
Looking on net I found something interesting.
A ported version of the Mi 9cce to the Mi A3, I tested it on my device, but did not recognize the simcard, consequently the mobile data and also did not recognize wifi.
And when you hold the button to turn off the menu does not appear.
link below for those who want to test.
please if anyone can fix it i would appreciate it.
I hope I'm not posting in the wrong place.

I have the V6 installed at the moment.
I thought it was better but I would still like Miui 12.

Miui 10 8.11.1 Android Pie: http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.11.1/miui_MI8Global_8.11.1_ed2903c393_9.0.zip
What's the changelog?
Sent from my MI 8 using Tapatalk
Maybe it has ARB, so keep eyes opens (on xiaomi.eu the new roms based on android 9 are marked with “Anti Roll Back” )
Looks like its still android 8.1 by the filename.
I flashed this. This is also global beta, but the closed nightly one. I am unsure of the changelog (no permission)
I've read some comments saying the number at the end of the ROM file represents the Android version (It's still 8.x Oreo).
miui_MI8Global_8.9.4_5162352d78_8.1.zip
According to the mi forums there are just some bug fixes. Nothing new at all. The software developers of Xiaomi are seriously a joke. There's still no official stable even after three months after release of their allegedly flagship that got unveiled with MIUI 10. The Chinese and global version differs in features (Chinese shows WhatsApp notifications in the Always On screen for example), the cheap ass Mi8se got miui10 already, but the flagship doesn't, ok Google never worked in any Rom so far and not to forget the whole discussion about bootloader's or GPS. It's a ridiculous failure so far in my opinion

I need tonwait 720 hours to unlock. Is it ok to flash it via updatet or better to wait for the fastboot/unlocked bl?
just flash via updater like me. just make sure u have a global version mi 8.
Is it really based on Android 9.0?
It's not, how do you get that idea? Funny thing is, that the roms get worse with every update IMHO. The best working so far was actually 8.8.7. With 8.8.21 some of the gestures stopped working and the AOD flashed white before activating, additionally it became slow and laggy after some time without reboot. The AOD is fixed now, gestures still doesn't fully work, same goes for "ok Google". Why the Chinese version supported WhatsApp notifications in the AOD and the global doesn't is another oddity. I'm not impressed.
Fastboot link: http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.9.6/dipper_global_images_8.9.6_20180906.0000.00_8.1_global_f75c6cea8d.tgz
Will data be erased if I update from updater? I am still on latest global stable.

Global 8.9.6 is still Oreo. To be exact: 8.1.0 OPM 171019.026 Tapping 8.1.0 shows Oreo cookie. Hope that answers.
Hi guys, sorry for this stupid question but after the xiaomi's news about the bootloader re-lock that causes a brick...i'm not sure of anything...so i'im asking this
I bought a mi8 6/64 global version(bootloader locked) so i think that is coming with the global stable.
So if i want to put the global developer can i just download the package from miui website and then install it from.the system update settings on the smartphone without problems?
Like bricks, errors or something weird? ?
If yes...afyer that, can i come back to the global stable without issues?

Sorry but i can't find the answer to my question.
Ok for unlocked bootloader and china/global.
Ok for anti rollback for android 8/9.
But my question is about a Mi8 with locked bootlader and Global stable and developer

Over the few months i have seen many Mi 8 owners who tweak their phone end up with a bricked device, of all the cases, a huge majority of them is due to the lack of research and jumping into modifying their phones before fully uinderstanding the situation (I almost made the mistake too, taking for granted that all android phones have minimal restrictions)
There are two things to take note of (especially if you decide to tweak your Mi 8/SE):
1. Xiaomi implemented a policy that prevents relocking of bootloader if you install a Global Rom on a China Variant Mi Phone
What this means: You cannot relock bootloader if your Mi8/SE is a China variant and ou have Global Miui version installed (Developer/Stable)
Common mistake(s):
1. Avoid 'Clean and lock' option when using Mi Flash. Only use 'Clean all' or 'Save user data' option
2. Do not relock your Mi8/SE if you are on Global Beta or Developer or Any MIUI rom that is Global
2. Google implemented a policy that prevents rollback to older Android versions for Android Oreo and above Roms. This is for 'Security' reasons and affects MIUI.
What this means: You cannot rollback to an older Miui version (Below Android 8.0) if you already you are currently on Andorid Oreo (i.e Miui 10) and up.
Common mistake(s):
1. Do not restore an old backup with Miui that has any Android version less than 8.0 from Miui 10 ( Android 8.0)
2. Do not install Miui 9 (Below Android 8.0) after installing Miui 10 (Android 8.0 Above)
*Tip: Ask yourself if the Android version you are about to install is lower than the Android version currently installed, if it is, DO NOT flash it. (Applicable if you are currently on Android 8.0 and up)
Please keep all of this in mind before you start tweaking your phone as you will run the risk of bricking your Mi 8/SE. After which, your Mi 8 becomes a very expensive paperweight. I hope this helps to clear things up for many people! Do know that while I disagree with Xiaomi's new anti-consumer policy, i also feel that it is YOUR responsiblility in your own actions, especially when you decide to modify your device and when you do modify anything (not just phones), there are always risks involved. When in doubt, it does no harm to Google it or just ask around in the forums. Moral of the story: Proceed with caution!
For those already bricked:
1. Contact Xiaomi Customer Service and try obtain edl permission to peform Testpoint fix.
2. Bring your phone to a Mi Store and hope that they can help you with it.
*In the case where my information is wrong, please correct me so that I can update accordingly for the benefit of everyone!
Have a nice day ahead and all the best in your phone tweaking adventures! Hopefully I helped you in clearing things up

I have the bootloader that is locked and i would like to leave it locked.
Then, is it possibile to change rom from GLOBAL STABLE to GLOBAL DEVELOPER without unlocking the bootloader and making other "modding things"?
Then(only if the 2 roms have the same android,so not now) can i switch back from DEVELOPER to STABLE (with locked bootloader and only if they have the same android version)?

I see what you mean, so yours is the global version and you want to flash without unlocking, http://en.miui.com/thread-720781-1-1.html (google search). Yes u can, from my personal experience, upgrading shouldn't require data wipe, but if you downgrade be prepared to wipe data, thats the only drawback, but you can definitely do it without a bootloader unlock using XiaomiTool or Miflash as well. For upgrading to developer just use updater app and select package, if not possible then miflash. Be careful flashing, you shouldnt have any problems as of now as long as you stay away from China rom. Miui roms are all ARB:1 which means ARB not yet activated, so downgrade possible. Have a good day ahead and have fun with your new Mi 8, it is a great phone (apart from the EDL lock **** Xiaomi pulled)

But someone just told me that, yes it's possible to change from global stable to global developer but that i should have the same Android version (in this case right now stable is 8 and developer 9).
Otherwise i should unlock the bootloader and then i can switch...

If someone can test it and tell us if Android Auto is working, it'll be very usefull.
As I've to send back the phone I can't test to flash it.
I'll test it as soon as I can unlock my bootloader, unfortunately it seems you have to wait a few days before you can unlock (the unlock tool tells me "cannot unlock until 180 hours", I'm assuming that's what it means right? That I have to wait 7 days?)

From a review I saw on YT that compared the K20 (with China rom) with the Mi 9T (with Global rom) they were saying that with China rom (I assume dev?) Android Auto was working, while it wasn't on the Global rom.
So I think it would work if you use the dev rom (China or XiaomiEU which is based on china). In the stable one doesn't work yet.

Thanks I've understand a bit, yes (I'm French, Italy isn't so far ) - Well what I'm wondering is why the Xiaomi.eu ROM doesn't let Android Auto to be used then, since I'm pretty sure it's based on the China ROM.. Right ?
It is based on China, but this first build is based on China STABLE rom. My theory is that Android auto is fixed in the DEV China rom. So we will probably need to wait until xiaomi EU starts building dev roms or for xiaomi to integrate the fixes in the next stable rom

Erf thanks for the update.
I'll return it and go for a Oneplus 7 then. Not same budget but pretty bored to "try" phones.
I just got my Mi 9t (global version, Germany) and I am on fw 10.3.8.
How can I update to 10.3.9?
I downloaded the FW and activated advanced updates but the updater tells me everytime that this is not an official release.
Thanks for the help.
Anyone know how to set ringtones for messages app on xiaomi.eu?
Edit : Settings -> Installed apps -> Messaging -> Notifications -> Messages -> Custom sound

Hello.
Has anybody tried fastboot version of MIUI12 for curtana? https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/curtana/
you can find other version here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/curtana/
Installed and being trying it for 3 days now. Everything works perfectly. For my day to day usage I can't say I've noticed any big differences from MIUI 11 (I was using xiaomi.eu 11.0.11.0). Usage does feel smoother and the battery does last longer, although I have no documented evidence to show. I removed the bloatware as per the 11.0.10.0 guide and I've found no bugs. All in all I'm happy with this ROM.
Edit: Just wanted to meantion the MIUI camera app. There are no added features. No clone mode and no kaleidoscope mode. The only difference from the MIUI 11 camera app is the new MIUI 12 visual.

# The MIUI 12 rom is a fastboot rom so you must flash it through MI Flasher. Make a backup first and search a guide on how to flash without locking the phone again! See this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-9-pro/how-to/tutorial-how-to-revert-to-official-t4109831
Hey @gde.spencer , can you help me to choose the right firmware?
What is the difference between Recovery and Fastboot? Or do you need both?
Which is the better version Global or EEA?

The fastboot version is installed via MiFlash whilst the phone is in fastboot mode. Use this to flash "as new".
The recovery version is like an OTA update (I think. Never used one).
I don't know which version is better (global vs eea) because I flash as a base for custom roms.
I have the Redmi Note 9s 6/128GB Global Model.
I want to flash the Indian Firmware so I will get the MIUI contacts and dialer (and call recorder).
Can someone please check if the Indian ROM has the HEBREW language, it should look like this:"עברית" under languages.
I will be glad for your help.

Thank you a lot my good friend, I will now flash it
For anyone else wondering, the Turkish fastboot ROM (QJWTRXM) installs fine on a global Note 9S (QJWMIXM). Everything works as far as I can tell, and all the languages are there (though call recording isn't, at least in the default Google Dialer app).

Recovery is the "OTA" ROM you install with MIUI's built-in update mechanism or a custom recovery like TWRP. Fastboot is a bit more low-level, you restart your phone into fastboot mode, connect it to a computer and use a program that manually overwrites the data on the phone's partitions, a bit like using dd on Linux or disk cloning/backup software. There's also EDL mode, which is the same as fastboot but it's built into the hardware itself, so it works even if you manage to brick fastboot somehow. On recent Xiaomi phones, it requires an authorized Mi account (or a patched ROM, or someone willing to sell you authorizations over the internet).
Global and EEA are pretty much the same thing, but EEA ROMs are intended for the European Economic Area (the EU) so they have to comply with additional regulations like having to let you choose your browser and search engine or something. As a side note, I live in the EU and pretty much every store over here is selling the Global variant of the 9S instead of the EEA one. Global ROMs are "better" in the sense that they tend to be more up to date (as of me writing this, global is on MIUI V11.0.11 and EEA is still stuck on V11.0.4).
I recently bought Mi note 10 lite and its on miui 11 right now. Since I won't be able to roll back the firmware I wanted to ask which one should I use to update. Should I update to lates official rom from ota? Is there any complaints about the updates?

If it can be reversed, at least I did it from Android 11 (miui 12.1.1), I was in global miui 12.0.3 and also tried miui eu, however I ended up going back to the factory ROM.
The best ROM for the mi note 10 Lite is miui 11.0.8 in performance and battery.
regards

This can be concluded as 'Do not update.'
The main concern now is about the old security patch, which may risk the data in the device from hacking. An alternative attempt to fix security problems is to install trusty ( I mean famous and good rated) antimalware app(s), which may take a little bit of storage and use a little bit of battery.
AOSP or debloated roms can be also nice battery-wise and speed-wise, but there are stability concerns, bugs and can also affect security.

The issue of security is relative in the devices because it will depend on the type of use you give it, personally I still do not think there is a stable and secure ROM better than Miui 11.0.8 (at the moment).
As I discussed earlier, I have tested all the official ROMs on this device and none will be better in fluidity and battery management than the factory ROM.
We'll see what happens to miui 12.5, but for now I'm staying where I am.

You are absolutely right, it is better to wait a few months while we see how the official and custom ROMs evolve because at the moment there is nothing stable.
Greetings.

It may be worth mentioning that it is rumored that MIUI 12.5 is fluid but battery is still kind of, bad. The MIUI 12.5 is still in alpha state (China devloper version) though, hope that the battery drain is fixed in the final stable build.
We might need to wait for MIUI 13 and probably battery life will get better...

Unfortunately, because of warranty concerns, I don't want to unlock BL. This breaks the warranty. Hence I dont have chance roll back.
Right now my rom is 11.0.4 and I found a problem where I am not able to use slow motion recording. Camera just stops responding.

Hello friend ..
I found the performance and battery problems in the global versions 12.0.3 and 12.1.1, in the same way in the custom ROM of miui.eu 12.0.3.
I understand that Xiaomi does not remove the warranty for unlocking the bootloader, but still, I think you can try updating to the version of miui 11.0.8 because it runs very smoothly for me and is the best.
Regards.

Por supuesto
Link: https://xiaomifirmware.com/download/15842/
Download the Zip and move it to the downloaded_rom folder.
Then go to settings, About the Phone, then update system and on the miui 11 logo, touch several times to activate the advanced installation options.
Go to the 3 points on the top right and select package to update. Select the package saved in the downloaded_rom folder.
The download link is from miui 11.0.8 global, if you need the miui EEA tell me.

Although Xiaomi does ot care about BL, distributor in my country does. So in my case I wont unlock until warranty time is over.
