You're right, the instructions are not clear. I'll update them.
Nevertheless, follow @tys0n's advice and extract the image from the TAR file.
Thank you!
Thanks for your great working recovery for this device. Any Chance that you make a shrp for the A405FNXXU3ATA4 build?
I am staying on pie because i want to build my private custom Rom.

Awesome, thank you. It is beautiful and really has usefull Features. Really a much needed upgrade to the twrp recovery, especially the magisk area. Without a custom recovery, there would not be the opportunity to develop and modify any device. Thanks again and Keep up your great work!!!
Hi, great work on this, it looks awesome.
I've got a small question though: I'm using the BTB7 build of Android Q for my A40 and there's no notification from Samsung to update to a newer firmware version.
Should I still try to flash your custom recovery or look for an updated firmware in my region (Germany) first?
Thanks
EDIT: I just noticed that it says BTB7 on my phone but also BTC4 elsewhere, which seems like it's less recent than BTB8. Seems like I'd have to downgrade, right?

You can use the BTB8 build then. I'm doing the same and my build (Portugal/TPH) is BTC4 as the kernel is all the same.
does the camera api 2 enabler work? like does it change anything or it doesnt do anything like other methods
Does I will still receive OTA Update ? If yes, is it safe to install?
Hi, sorry for beginners Q.
1. I've got build ...BTD4. Should I use the B version or whatever?
What difference does these two means? Thanks
2. When I go to download, I've got no "Unlock" option, just "Vol down + power" to reboot. This is the same when "Unlock OEM" in system developer settings is ON or OFF.
Whats wrong?
Thanks

OP was updated to include the different PDA codes instead of only the one in which the kernel is based on.
As you have BTD4, you should use the one which is based on BTB8.
Then, it seems that you already have the bootloader unlocked.

You want receive any official OTA updates the moment you unlock the bootloader, which is the first step of this process...

Even though it is a feature of SHRP, on our device the enabler doesn't change a thing...

Looks nice! ?
Update request! Big thanks for this, this is the best recovery out there:
-Works just fine where the latest TWRP version throws EROR 7
-Keep all the settings when uou mess with /data (Fox gets erased all the time)
There was few Realme and TWRP updates for our device + SHRP v2.3 rolled out. Hope, you didn't abandoned this wonderful project. Thanks again!
This recovery looks good but works very poorly
- The decrypt pattern is unresponsive at first (you have to hold the first circle for a real second or two).
- After doing a factory reset it got stuck and forced me to do a hard reboot (Volume UP + Down +Power)
- I pushed a file that somehow didn't show up ( used the same command after re-installing TWRP and it was there)
- The filesystem explorer seem to be missing files at times|
So I'm back on the good old original TWRP
[edit] Maybe I'll have to try yesterday's update)

Hey guys, so I had TWRP installed with current LoS18 running. I wanted to switch to SHRP to use the unroot feature. After installing SHRP and restarting to recovery, I was not able to decrypt with my PIN(Password failed).
Do you have any tips on that?

Alright that's pretty cool. But then would there be any compatible roms for my phone? Most, if not all, of them support y2q but only the u or u1 version (or at least that's what they're saying on their rom threads). Sorry if I shouldn't be asking this here, but I'm pretty curious to see if rooting my phone could be worth it.

That's a question I cannot answer. I don't do ROMS, as I see it you have three options:
1. Go with stock and use things like edxposed to mod.
2. Build yourself a ROM
3. Modify the existing ones to make them compatible with your specific phone model.
I have done #1 and #3 for my G988N in the past, unfortunately you cannot go around expecting people to build a ROM that might fit all Samsung variants

Encryption is not currently supported. You will need to remove encryption first. And I don't own a Redmi Note 9 so no port from me. That probably could be asked in the device forum.

maybe i was made something wrong, i will try it again
I flashed it, and now nothing works. First time in my Android-History i got a screen "The System has been destroyed - Press Power Button to shotdown". I only able to get into fastboot, nothing more.
So tomorrow i will try to flash twrp via fastboot.

1. flashed using .zip file or .img?
2. surya (x3 nfc) or karna (x3, indian version)?
3. yeah, flashing twrp will solve issue
4. unfortunately, for the moment i don't have neither time neither a PC to fix bugs and create new releases, i'm sorry.
5. Working perfectly on Surya (X3 NFC), unfortunately karna has major problems but it still should be atleast booting so i really don't know
I flashed the zip on my surya device

I solved the problem with flashing twrp from brigudav. Maybe next time
Working fine on my Surya device, thanks!
Halo, bagaimana cara backup imei??
Tolong bantu saya
I've seen that in between surya is officially supported by SHRP, but have a different maintainer there (rxuglr).
Anyway, I'm a little confused about all this.
Both well known Custom Recoveries (TWRP as well as OrangeFox, which is also based on TWRP, AFAIK) don't support surya, but SHRP does - are the problems of TWRP & OrangeFox solved in SHRP, especially supporting dynamic partitions (which AFAIK was a huge problem for a long time), and is a full system backup supported?
I read that best working Custom Recovery should be the one developed by @brigudav (currently v. 3.7.x?), but I really have no current overview.
As far as I remember, I also read that not every Recovery supports every Android version.
Does everyone have experiences about that?

KOSP is a small project based off AOSP and we intend to improve upon AOSP to provide a stable and better alternative to OEM roms with additional features.
Features
There are some cool features, see for yourself
Truth is I'm just lazy to write a long list of features and we intend to focus on the stability rather than adding a ton of features.
Gapps is included!
What's broken?
- WiFi Display on devices using MiraCast
- You tell me!
Bug reporting:
-> DO NOT report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
-> Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
-> Do not approach us without any logs for reporting bugs
-> If it is a random reboot, grab everything from /sys/fs/pstore. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
-> Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

Thank you so much I've been waiting for this!
Sorry for being newbie, can you provide more detailed installation guide? I'm on OOS 11.0.4.1 and have my bootloader unlocked, but no root nor custom recovery.
Also if I removed my phone lock (pin and fingerprint) prior to the installation would I still need to format my personal data?
Thanks again!

Yes and for installation support join the linked telegram
Great work Harish. Also congratulations for first official. Good ROM, highly recommended. Definitely daily driver and better than A11.
Thanks for still continuing to develop for the OP7.
I was a little confused about how to install it, but I'll try to go to the telegram to understand it better.
Great work.
I have installed it yesterday and it is working great and pretty smooth than A11 roms. I am planning to use it as daily driver, not sure if all apps i use including banking apps are compatible with A12 yet. E.g. HSBC India app is broken on this rom. Please confirm if itbcan work. Thanks.
Also request to include face unlock feature under security tab if possible in the next build. Thanks.

Sorry for noob questions in advance.
I can see installation is done via fastboot only, but after installation we need to format data from recovery.
1. Which recovery to use to format data? I doubt rom comes with a recovery.
2. Format data to f2fs or ext4?
3. How's the situation with widevine L1? If you have it then can you post steps for that as well.
Right now I'm on stock rom with locked bootloader.

Once you install ROM from fastboot as mentioned in OP, after installation is complete your phone automatically restarts at that time you have to boot into recovery. The recovery this time will be ROM recovery in which you will have to format data before to reboot to system. Hope this helps.

Could you describe the step by step installation? I would like to exit A10 10.3.8 for KOSP.

Steps are pretty simple as mentioned in OP. Update your phone to latest OOS (A11) first before to go for this A12 ROM.
The rom is smooth and responsive, I will use it as daily driver.
Issues I face:
1- my voice sounds digitalized or something, using the phone built in mic.
2- The notification panel sometimes become 100% transparent.
3- Sometimes the whole screen flashes with max brightness during fingerprint unlocking. (Maybe started to happen after enabling single tap to wake)
4- In SIMs settings, only the 1st SIM is showing, and I can deactivate it, however, my 2nd SIM isn't showing there and there's no way to deactivate it (both SIMs are working all the time)
5- I think the vibration intensity while setting the alert slider to vibration is quite high (maybe I'm used to OOS).
6- Vibration intensity for notifications is also a little bit high even though I set it as "low" in settings.
The fingerprint unlocking vibration intensity is the perfect intensity for me (I think it's like the OOS one) I hope you can make the "low" option equal to that
I'll update my reply whenever I face new things.
All are minor issues, otherwise, amazing rom, thank you so much I really appreciate all the hard work you do.
P.S. If anyone wants to enable the "single tap to wake" it's under Settings - krypton settings - device settings - touchscreen gestures - single tap. I thought this could help someone.
Does cromecast work?
Does fingerprint work as good as on oxygen os?
Is battery good? I have bad battery on oxygen os 11.0.4.1, android system is eating my battery...
For root i just instal magisk app through fastboot or in the twrp?
Thank you for your anwsers.
Edit: can not install via ADB. Instalation guide is not good for me. Should I unzip file with image or not. Do not have theese problems when instaling other roms. Any help would be apreciated.

I don't use Chromecast but on telegram people have reported that it works. Just Miracast is not working.
Battery life cannot be determined this soon
Magisk is reported to be working. Need patched boot.img to be flashed via fastboot
You can't install this rom via adb. Only fastboot method works as of now.

Keep the KOSP fastboot ROM img-ZIP file in the platform/fastboot folder. This issue will be resolved
Looks like a new build is up
