When I backed up 9s using twrp, the backup was successful and the restore did not cause any problems.
However, after creating and backing up the 'second space', the second space is initialized without being restored normally.
I don't know why...
There is no system partition in TWRP.
so I did check in 'super partition'
But when I back up, I get an 'super partition failed' error.
Is there a way to back up with second space?
What should I do?
Use titanium backup to backup your 2nd space app data.

This is true. Think of it similar as Windows system restore feature. Remember that all data on your internal "sd card" and external sd card stay the same.
For the people who are constantly flashing new roms and trying them all out-
do you always have to reinstall all of your apps everytime?
what about other things like your SMS's? I just restored 40k texts w/ SMS backup and restore after flashing a rom, and the restore took forever. not to mention the pain in the neck for reinstalling all the apps.
what else should i be backing up and restoring with each new rom flash? are there any tricks to doing this process quickly?
thanks!

+1 for Go SMS. It's an awesome program for sure and backing up is so simple.

Only need the paid if you want multiple version backups and want to freeze apps instead of deleting them.

You have to back it up first. It backs it up to your internal SD card, which won't get wiped, even if you do a fartory reset and wipe in CWM. You can copy those backups to your computer also, for safe keeping.

Keep in mind that the system itself and the main area where info like thus is stored are on two different parts of the internal memory. Wiping the data via cwm, as mentioned above, won't wiped both.

There are a few internal data storage areas (for user data, at least...)
/data (an internal Android partition),
/cache (an internal Android partition that's usually safe to wipe as often as you like), and
/sdcard (internal SD)
Android is designed such that any app should behave sanely if /sdcard is NOT wiped - thus usually, /sdcard is never wiped. (Note: Doing a wipe/factory reset from the Settings menu of the stock ROM will wipe the SD card.)
Usually, only /data needs to be wiped (along with /cache) - and that is why CWM only wipes /data and /cache but not /sdcard.
TiBu and SMS/Call Logs Backup and Restore use /sdcard for backups.
Note: It is, however, a good idea to periodically back up /sdcard in case you accidentally hit a wipe method that does touch it.
In addition to the above, there's also /system - which is where the ROM itself resides.
Hello, when i try backup my current default ROM, everything goes fine until it reaches .Android_secure and says "Error while making a bacup of /sdcard/.android_secure!"
No idea whats wrong.
I've tried backing up via the ROM manager and the Nandroid method.
Using ROM Manager to backup is a nandroid backup... the back up you're referring to is just the app data you had installed on your SD card. Perhaps you can choose to restore the other partitions but leave out the android secure image...
Edit: Oh, I misunderstood your post. You're trying to back up... well, you could move the apps you have on your SD card back to your phone and then create the backup. That will eliminate the need for the android secure image.

Okay well I just removed the files in .android_secure (backed up onto PC)
and now i get an error while making a backup image of /cache -.-.

Hi,
I installed Greenify and hibernated some apps and thereafter the phone restarted on its own and is stuck in the RevoltJB logo screen.
I've tried almost everything, from taking the battery out, clearing dalvick cache and flashing the RevoltJB rom again but it's not booting.
I've made a nandroid copy to the Sd Card, system / app, data files say complete but then when it's backing up the music/videos/pics it fails. Not enough memory.
Does that mean that the nandroid backup of system apps (sms/call logs) and my sisters apps/data (whatsapp message history) haven't been backed up?
I also made a internal copy and that seemed to backup everything. Hardly any pics or music on internal memory, plus it had 8gb free.
Does that mean that both the internal and sd card backup the same things?? And can I factory reset and reinstall the RevoltJB rom and then using titanium backup get back her whatsapp messages, her sms and call logs not to mention her stupid level 50 candycrush data?
Please can someone tell me if I've been able to make a successful nandroid backup on either the sd (even if it only backed up system/apps) or internal memory and whether I have any chance of a recovery of her sms, whatsapp and candycrush data.
PS if i reinstall jb rom it won't delete my nandroid backup will it...?
Thank you for your replies in advance. I'm going crazy because she's in tears, so please can someone help me.

You don't need to worry much after making the nandroid backup you can safely wipe data/cache/dalvik cache and reflash the ROM, also along with TB try using the app nandroid manager to restore the apps, call logs, contact's etc. from the previous nandroid backup, and be careful to not format /sdcard partition its where all your data like your music, videos, nandroid backup, and other data is kept.
Hmmm seems you don't use your internal SD card much, and making a backup anywhere is not problem it will be the same thing done twice whether it be in the internal or the external SD card, just try to make a successful backup by freeing up some space, also if you have the patience to read a lot try using Aroma file manager to manually handle the required files like the contact database and stuff, though I would advice a noob to hold off until he's more experienced.

Stop being melodramatic. Bricked phones don't boot. At all
I think you froze a system app....look at @MistahBungle 's signature and read what it says.
Do a factory reset and a ROM reflash. This is the only thing you can do.And yes,all her messages and game data will be gone (you can maybe extract them manually from the Nandroid backup)
Hi,
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 3GB Global Version and will swap with the same model but a 4Gb version. Both are unlocked with RedWolf twrp as recovery and MiUi 9.2.
What should I include in my nandroid backup if I wish to restore all my apps and their data to the 4Gb version? Until now, my backups include System-Data-Boot and wifi-bluetooth data.
Thank you for your advice.

Why not simply use MIUI backup? It also backups all your apps with data and your settings. Copy the back up folder to your SD card or computer and restore it on your new phone.
If you're rooted, you can use Titanium Backup, the best way to backup and restore apps.
If not, you can try an ADB backup but I can't guarantee it'll work well: https://9to5google.com/2017/11/04/how-to-backup-restore-android-device-data-android-basics/
You don't need the Android SDK. Just grab the platform-tools package, unzip it to your desktop, CD into it (use a command prompt or terminal to enter the directory) and then follow the guide.

The only thing you need to do is change the device id in your backups. First backup your original device to an sdcard then put that card in your new device. Next backup just boot (this creates the new device id directory) then move full backup to new id. Last just restore the full backup. I know this works because I went from 3gb to 4gb a few months ago. Make sure you DONT restore efs from old device to new.

Issue with miui backup is that if you are using a custom miui rom it wont backup everything like the stock rom does.

I used Titanium before but I'd like to do something really easy and clean and in a one swoop solution like a nandroid restore.
I think I'm going to go the solution proposed by cidxtc because it's tested.
Thanks mate for chiming in.

All right, please cidxtc let me resume to make sure I understand you correctly because I'm a noob.
1/ From the 3Gb phone, I entrer RedWolf TWRP recovery, make a backup of just 'System + Data' (see attached screenshot) and not Boot to a SD card.
2/ Put the SD card in the 4Gb phone, enter recovery and select to backup 'Boot' only. Then move the 3Gb backup 'System + Data' into the RedWolf folder where the 4Gb 'Boot' backup is. Afterwards, I just have to restore the 'System + Data' from there.
Is this correct ?

The new phone should arrive next week. I was doing my homework to be ready. I'll come back and let you know how it goes. Hopefully everything will go smoothly if i do as discussed.
I received my phone today and will apply to unlock its bootloader first, then root it.
Meanwhile, could you please cidxtc explain, if possible, why I shouldn't include the boot file in the nandroid backup of the 3Gb phone to be restored to the 4Gb phone? Will the 4Gb phone boot without this file after restoring just system and data only?
