Double tap to wake the screen seems to work ok when the phone is not in use but when i'm in a call double tap doesn't work. I have to press power button every time i have to press different numbers to get transferred and to hang up. Also another issue i disabled lock screen but still big round clock comes up and i have to swipe up to access home screen. Not seeing any option to get rid of the clock screen.

I have been trying to Find a Macro Mapper or some kind of 3rd party ap to lock my device when i press the power button. The only work around at this time is to use Lock Device with 4 number pin and 0min lock setting. however i am tired of constantly pressing digits and would rather use native Lock Function that requires bottom left tap to unlock than middle right side tap to confirm unlock. However, it is only initiated from a Lock on screen tap.
IF anyone knows how to enable this lock by pressing the power button which is in my case on the right side of my mogul(PPC6800) that shuts off the screen and powers down to standby i would greatly appreciate it. this is also a replacement for S2U which has a few bugs with slide out keyboard and memory leaks.
Try this...
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJDeviceLock
there is a program by spb that has this funtion... I don't know the name of it but i will look around. I don't remember the specifics of it, but there was a check box that says to lock teh device when you hit the powerbutton (or anytime the display turns off)
i believe it is SPB mobile shell
"Device Lock
Spb Mobile Shell 1.5 improves usability of device locking. Now you can lock your device using a hardware key, soft key on Today or a shortcut. You can also unlock the device using only soft keys. When your device is locked the Now Screen shows you the most important information, so in most cases you don't even need to unlock the device. "

you can at least try it out and see if it does what you want.
damn i apparently didn't didn't read all of your post... so you don't want to use slide2unlock.. hmm i guess your best bet is to try spb mobile shell and play with the options to see if you can get it to do what you want -- unless of course someone wiser than me knows of something else.
::ignore below:::
it turns out that what i was really was thinking of was slide2unlock
http://ac.xenpage.eu/S2U2-0.99c-WM5.rar
(from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353008)
options:
lock when device wakes up --- on/off
lock when backlight turns off ---on/off
power off in --- (time in S)
but blank screen only -- on/off
blank screen on talk -- on/off
then it has some other options for how it looks -- but if you don't mind doing the slide bar to unlock the phone it will do what you want.
Right now I have to enter a pin to unlock the phone when I press the power button. Is there any way to slide to unlock, then the enter pin menu comes?
I want this so I can quickly check the time/weather without logging in all the time. Right now i'm greeted by a big ugly pin entry screen every time I press the power button.

I use Widget Locker for my lock screen and I also use extended controls for my toggle bar. Extended controls lets you set an "auto lock" button. This lets me toggle the pin lock on and off. This lets me have a slider screen first and then a pin screen second (but only when I need it).
anything free?

Not that I know of, but Widget Locker is really customizeable and you can do a lot with it
Very pleased with the new phone but I've had the home screen freeze on me twice in the same horrible way.
While swiping the lock screen away, it will stick covering about a 1/4 of the screen - then the screen completely locks. After a while a partially hidden alert box comes up with some warning about the Activity TwLauncher not responding and you can see the close/wait buttons, but you cannot press them. Pressing the sleep button blanks the screen, but it displays the same mess when the home button is pressed.
The OS underneath still seems to be running, because if I call the phone, the dialer appears and I can take a call - just that after ending the call, the screen goes back to the frozen home screen with the half hidden alert box under a partial lock screen.
Even holding the power button down will not pop up the dialogue box for power off - so the only way I've found to recover is to pull the battery.
Has anyone else encountered this bug - couldnt find anything similar using the forum search tool - or a quick google.
I did recently update to KE7.
Sorry if this has been asked, search functions seems to be down at the moment, but I just got my Sprint S3 on Tuesday and noticed that when you press the home button while on the home screen it shows the screen previews, normal.
Now ever since yesterday when I press the home key it just goes to the home screen but does not do the screen preview. Is there something that I turned off by accident or is my phone acting up, its not really a big deal to me but I just want to make sure my phone is not defective. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance.
There's three functions for the home button so far as I know.
1) Single press, takes you back to your launcher's main screen.
2) Single press with hold, takes you to the task manager that shows you what's currently running along with previews of the apps.
3) Double press, takes you to S Voice.
I'm guessing that you are looking for number 2.

Thats really weird because like I said when I first got the phone and was on the home screen and pressed the button again it did the screen previews but now it only does what you listed. I wonder if anyone else had this happen, oh well thanks for the response.
Well I had a screen replacement in my Galaxy S9+ and I noticed that Home hard press is way more sensitive tan it was before, I cant pick my phone without pressing it half the time.
Is there a way to tweak that sensitivity beyond that maximum in official settings? Maybe through ADB?
Settings - Display - Navigation Bar - Hard press Home button

Went to autorized Samsung service. They did screen calibration for free, now it works as intended.
