Just got V60 System Update - Is there a Change Log available? - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

I received an OTA System Update for my Verizon V60 today which was identified as Software Update V600VM10d. My System Update History also shows a Configuration Update on May 19. I was hoping to find a change log for this update. I did find a vague, kinda-sorta Verizon change log for the previous update to M10c, but nothing for this update. I'm hoping LG or Verizon may have addressed the Speakerphone going mute with this update.
Thanks in advance for any help or info!

Contact tracing

I, too, would like to know what it contains.
@richs10 As you mentioned, there is one page for a single Verizon V60 update on their site (and it's a couple months old).
@Someone suspicious Is that a serious reply? I haven't read anything about Verizon and LG adding this nor documentation.
---------- Post added at 09:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:02 AM ----------
Update: I was Googling wrong... This is likely the contact tracing API update mentioned here.
I was looking for something from LG or Verizon, not a general Android update from Google.
Still, some documentation would be nice. My understanding is it simply allows apps to now do contact tracing, and it's not something your phone will now do natively.
I understand and recognize the possible value for this, but Holy crap... this is such a potential privacy hole.

I'm not too concerned about the privacy aspect, which is well explained in this video starting at 1:19:10

What I'm concerned about is the lack of reliability, as discussed here, starting at 10:15

Wear Expenses Tracker

Hi everyone
I've just published an app for Android Wear and would like to hear your thoughts on it.
It's called "Wear Expenses Tracker". The concept is very simple - record all your expenses using android watch. Tracking my expenses is something I always wanted to do, but taking out my phone every time I buy something is a little bit too high effort, so that habit never developed. Trying to solve this problem for myself and hopefully other people would find it useful as well.
Unfortunately I am unable to post links since I am new to this forum, but I advise searching for "Wear Finance" on the Play Store to find it (my app hits first result normally).
What do you think of the concept and usecase? Any tips on UX/UI? I am also planning to implement categories (labels), import/export and other functionality. Which are the most crucial features do you think app is missing?
Looking forward to hearing from you

Would you use it for tracking day-to-day expenses? (e.g. restaurants, grocery, basically everything that is not recurring like rent/subscriptions and more difficult to track and estimate).

I would use it mainly when I am on vacation, just came back from a weeks vacation.
It be nice to have a running count on how much the vacation is costing me.
Day to day expenses not sure but you know it maybe nice to see how much I am spending say for coffee each day.
Idea have the ability to do more than one expense list,
Click on a button "Lists",
Vacation
Coffee
Work
Home Renovation
Just an idea....
Looks nice. :good:
I am admittedly awful when it comes to my finances (ask my wife). This apps seems like a great idea.:good:
Just wanted to let you know that I released an update with fresh design and ability to set a monthly budget! Let me know what you think

The most important features to me in an expense tracker are:
Categories - and ability to view how much has been spent in each category compared to eachother (i.e. in a pie chart) and to do this by month, year, and all-time.
Compare total amount spent between different months
A nice feature but not necessary would be to compare how much was spent on a certain category between months. i.e. for the category "Food" how much was spent in July vs June vs May etc. Visualisation with a graph would be a nice touch.

I agree so. Its look likely a bit complicated
Could this be something you can link with other apps/software such as You Need a Budget (YNAB)?

[Q] Does Sprint care if I root my phone, even if I am leasing it?

I have a Sprint LG G3 that I am leasing. I want to root it, but I do not know if it will affect me returning it when my lease is up. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks for the help.
EDIT to add more information: Most of the time when I talk to Sprint on the phone, they don't understand what I mean by rooting. Should I just say "Modifying the original software of the phone" or how would you go about it?
Historically, Sprint has been much less concerned about people rooting their phones than other carriers. But there's a thread here in the Sprint subforums that shows you how to revert to a completely stock, unrooted state. I would suggest doing that before returning it, just to be safe.

Did u get rooted and flashed? I saw where u had question about rooting.
Most of your questions are already answered on here. But for any question you have most members are helpful and dont just tell you to post questions somewhere else. These processes with your phone are daunting even for experienced folk. If something goes wrong it can be a $600 penalty. There are many who have helped me most dont even know they helped because they halped someone else who had the same problem i had. Meyerweb is probably who has helped me most throughout the years as i followed him with gs3. When i was looking at lgg3 i asked him about development before i purchased. If you need help post spicific questions about what your doing or trying. I will try to help
---------- Post added at 10:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 AM ----------
One more thing. Dont tell sprint anything about root. There is no need for them to know. The warranty on your phone is now void. Dont mention modifying software or bootloader. I cannot think of a reason of using these terms with any carrier. And return to stock before u turn back in.
If you are leasing your phone i may have a different pov on rooting. My justification to rooting is i bought phone, own phone, will do to phone what i want. Its like buying or leasing a car. If you buy it you can paint it but if you lease it you cant turn it in with a yellow polka dot paint job. With that being said who am i to tell you what t o do.

A friend who has good information explained it to me this way: They try to take a hands-off approach to it, unless one of a couple things happens:
The phone causes the customer to call in for support on the handset itself (i.e. not dropped calls or a cracked screen, but some difficulty in launching/running applications or compatibility)
A phone without a tethering package starts pushing 25gb/month of traffic, *and* the user calls in to complain about throughput. (bonus points if they actually mention that they don't have a tethering package and call for compatibility help on the wifi hotspot features)
Resolving some issue would require sprint to acknowledge that the customer has modified the phone, and implying their approval for that.
The customer states that they are doing something in violation of applicable laws or the service agreement. Please, don't do this. Support calls are recorded and doing anything other than feigning deafness would require the support tech to follow up on the issue raised. That blank stare is an act of courtesy, not ignorance.
My take-away was "root and code all you like, but make sure you know what you're doing and understand that the second you mention 'rooted' to a SPCS employee, you're gonna get a blank stare".

I'm looking for the same thing, I dumpster dive and I found this same awesome touchscreen display running Android. I haven't had any luck installing any apps, and the only thing I can do is go through the very limited setting menu. Any help would be awesome
Have you guys had any luck with this? The unit doesn't even recognize apk files, much less give me the option to install them.
It looks like some other people have found Amiibo kiosks and want to hack them. I've got one too. The information posted in the OP is what I know so far. It would be cool to be able to install some other apps or even get a custom version of Android running on these things. I'm sure other people are looking for information on them. Since the Nintendo Switch was released, these things are in the wild either through dumpster diving or knowing people at the retail stores. They could make for a very cool game room project if someone can provide a little information on the http://www.ducotech.com/ displays.
The only thing I was actually able to do was make it play movies. But for some reason it restarts after a few minutes, as if it has an auto restart set to a specific time.
How were you able to make it do that? I can't even get it to do that.

Trial and error lol I don't remember the exact thing I did, but I know I made it happen my using the menu and navigation buttons located on the back of the panel. I also had an sd card inserted, loaded with a movie and somehow it worked. But like I said, it would only play for a little bit and then the whole thing would restart and go back to the main menu

So it seems as if, for full functionality, we need the security dongle. I wonder if this can be bypassed in any way.

I would even be willing to purchase the security dongle, if I could find it. I plan to use this display for a non-profit organization that raises money for other charities. We want to use it as digital signage.

Good luck finding one, you would need to find someone who works for the company that provides the displays. And I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap either. It's like selling someone's codes for their bank account. If a security dongle got out and was duplicated, that could be harmful for their business.
I found some workarounds and posted them here here:

Android Pay not supported?

Android Pay can't be used

I haven't rooted my P9000 or modified the bootloader in any way. Has anyone had any success getting Android Pay working with the P9000?
i have the same problem and so have many other according the official elephone blog. its disappointing that it doesn't work
I was just about to open a thread on this. Yeah tried installing it on my phone too and said google can't verify the device so it can't be used! How to get this fixed?
i contacted google and they said
Thanks. This error message happens when Android Pay detects that your device has been rooted or if the device is otherwise unsupported. I see that this device is currently not on our supported device list, so I'm afraid that Android Pay will not be able to run on your device - I'm very sorry about this frustrating situation!
haidar zafar7:31 PM
will it ever be supported because it is a Chinese branded phone
they said
Hopefully it will be added in future, but that depends on the manufacturer. May I recommend contacting them directly to get an answer to that question? They will be able to advise you on if they're considering submitting their device for certification on Google Play. I understand that you're phone isn't rooted - it's just that the checks that Android Pay runs are more strict than for other apps due to the financial regulations it operates under.
Well that sucks that was one of the reasons I chose this phone over other chinese phones such as the Red Note hmm...
same but i have very low expectation but iv contacted elephone and we will see if they do anything. But like i said dont have high hopes
I dont have high hopes either, I am going to contact Elephone too, maybe the more who approach them, they may consider doing something about it.
Oh damn I was kinda looking forward to using Android pay too ;-(
Thanks, I added a post to Elephone's support forums too: http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-10542-1-1.html#.Vz15pWQrKAw
You know what is stupid though when I installed Android Pay I get an email saying I've added the Elephone P9000 as a payment device... yet it's not supported geez.
GREAT!! I specifically chose this model over others for making payments, because it had NFC and fingerprint scanner together with overall good value for money. Now it turns out the scanner can only be used to unlock your screen without entering a pin and the NFC to transfer pics, well done elephone, so happy I bought this phone :-/
---------- Post added at 01:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 PM ----------
Sorry, ths was ment to be a comment. dont know how to remove it or change it now.
It was also a key reason that I bought the phone. Funny thing is I have used the phones NFC/tap & pay feature to pay at a contactless terminal through the Barclaycard app. If Barclaycard are happy with the security of my device & the android tap & pay feature works then why can't android pay? - sorry, also meant to be a comment.
will Elephone ever verify this device on Google Play?

Alternatives to Firmware Finder

Hello, since Firmware Finder cannot enforce updates anymore, is there any alternative that does not require root? Honor really sucks at delivering updates, in FF I can see version 8.1.0.143 while I'm still on 131, this was always a pain in the ass for Honor devices but previously I always thought "who cares, I can force it via FF", well now I do care and this will be my last Honor device if I can't get the updates to work.
Thanks for any advice.
I just hate people like you who keep trowing dirt at companies for this sh*t about updates.
143 was just released, not long ago, cant you have patience a bit?you have the previous version, so at what do they suck?you have june or july sec update i bet.

I'm sorry but if someone like Apple were to announce an iOS update for a specific day, you would expect it to be available on that day and it most likely would be. Honor told us that the update would be on August 3rd for the EU, yet here I am 3 days later in the UK unable to see 143/145. This would be relatively fine, if they hadn't made several posts on their Twitter accounts saying things like "update now!" and "have you updated yet?", and also made a competition on this very forum with a 10 day deadline, meaning if someone like me wanted to enter they would be 3 days behind anyone else already.

Sorry what? "certified by Google"? If the update has already come out in other regions/countries then surely it's already good to go, and the blame rests on Huawei/Honor for not pushing it to all the relevant regions/devices (which I'm sure they're able to do without doing it in waves, otherwise they wouldn't be telling everyone it's available now...)

Certification goes by country my friend. Thats the main reason why it goes in waves. If you are so much in rush you can use no check recovery and then you will see its not certified by Google . So yes its Google to blame because huawei have the update ready.

Really? It was my understanding that not being "certified by Google" was something that stopped your specific device from being updated, and that each manufacturer organised their own OTA updates (to me it doesn't make much sense for Google to be certifying Huawei, Samsung, etc. updates, as surely those companies have their own teams to test this stuff?).
Even so, I spoke with Honor customer service earlier today and all "Shane" could tell me was to "hold on". He even said he agreed that it's a bit silly for Honor to tell everyone it's available when really it isn't, but that there's nothing else they can do

Its not about huawei. Its about google security. Having or not their own team to test things doesnt mean they have access to google suite. Certification grants you access to google play, google pay and certain banking apps. If google did not check the updates for certain bugs, hacks etc then the update will stay on hold and as i said from country to country banking systems, telecommunication security systems are different.
Little miss leading social media , yes gpu boost is rolling out in certain regions this is normal practice for honor again it's region based batches at a time , the UK is always the last to get it , honor phones are not like say a OnePlus global device were as soon as a update rolls say in Canada first, you can set a VPN to Canada and download it even though your region hasn't got update yet , that would be nice but honor phones have tons of different region build numbers so unfortunately it's a waiting game for us in UK , I applied for the gpu boost beta and that wasn't being announced till 13th and haven't heard a thing since [emoji848]
