I constantly have hotspot and usb tethering on. After a few hours, the interner no longer works and a small x is displayed at the mobile data symbol. It works again after a restart, what should I do to prevent this?

It not a device problem. It a service carrier problem, try using a different carrier. Or turn on and off airplane mode to get the problem solved.

It's not a carrier problem. My main phone has the same carrier and it's working fine there. Airplane mode doesn't fix it, only a full restart does.

On which ROM you are currently on? If on stock you need to reflash the stock to get it working.

Did you face the problem in every rom, or in this specific rom?

I apologize in advance if this was addressed before, I couldnt find a thread that answered my issue.
My phone doesn't cannot to data anymore.
I have been flashing different roms pretty frequently, and I am currently on SpeedRom 7.8
For the past month, data hasn't been working on the different roms I have been using. I don't know what is the cause for this issue.
This issue started when i installed SpeedRom 7.5. From there i jumped from one rom to the next, with data not working.
Can you of guys help me with my predicament?
Thank you

Go to Settings - Data Usage and make sure Mobile Data is "On". This gets turned off sometimes when flashing new ROMs or by accident.

I just checked and It's definetely on.
To expand and clarify the issue, when I turn the data on, there is no data icon at the top of the status bar beside the network strength icon.

This happens to me occasionally, and my fix for this is to turn airplane mode on and off. It works for me, but I don't know if it will for you though.

Hi,
I have been using Android GBX0*+3.4.26 rom for a long time. I haven't got too much big trouble except speed, app crash and battery. Nowadays i have a problem with my network.
Normally i have been using 3g connection. When my connection is down for some reason for seconds(subway or etc), my phone get no signal so people can not call me, text me. Also i can not call or text them. But everything seems normal, i mean it looks like getting signal.
Then i tried to fix it with airplane mode. When i click airplane mode, nothing happens. Everything looks like it is still roaming. When i restart phone, it opens in airplane mode. Also, airplane mode is not a solution for that, because everything seems normal, i dont know when my phone doesnt get signal.
I re-installed Android GBX0*+3.4.26 rom, still same error.
What should i do? Anyone has suggestions?
Thanks anyway,
Update
I realized that it is not about internet connection. I turned off data connection before sleeping. When i woke up, it was already not getting signal. Any ideas?

Hi fokls,
I recently updated to 5.1 ( Lollipop). I am on Tmobile and for some reasons, the mobile data setting kept getting disabled frequently.
Anyone knows what to do to fix the issue. I have tried pure stock as well as with root. None of them seems to fix the issue.

Just want to confirm, I have this problem too. Also on T-Mobile.
Edit: is it really just the setting that gets disabled? I have been rebooting to fix it.

Why don't you enable airplane mode and then disable instead of rebooting. It might work.

I tried that, it didn't work. I'm waiting on it to happen again to see if I can just re-enable mobile data.
Even if I can, this is still a very annoying problem. You'll miss a lot of emails, and messages. Yet another reason you might not want Lollipop

Its strange though. But if you go to the setting, then mobile data, you will see that it is turned off. Turning it back on, will re-enable it. I dont know why it does it though. No need for air plane toggle.
Is there any possibility this problem could be tied to a default power-saving setting that is turning mobile data off to conserve battery?
Just a thought.

I did two things, but I haven't had this happen since I did them.
1. Renamed HwPowerGenieEngine3.apk and HwPowerGenieEngine3.odex to disable them. (just add .bak to the end) They are located in "root/system/app/HwPowerGenieEngine3/" and "/<SAME/ARM/"
2. Enabled the option in Mobile Network settings to "Always-on mobile data"
Like I said, I don't know for sure if either really fixed it, but I haven't been having this problem for the past 2 days.
#1 . do I need root to rename the files?

yes, that requires root
I have no answer for you but, I am on T-Mobile and that's not happening to me. My WiFi becomes disabled sometimes/rarely. Also USB debugging gets disabled as soon as I back out of the settings for it. This is on B309.
My friend and I both using HAM2 on Wind, still on 4.3. Phone signal (not only Data) frequently turned itself off, then turned back on after a minute or longer.
Could it be the AWS (1700) frequency not reacting well to Huawei power genie?
I tried using "Normal" instead of "Smart" power saving scheme but no joy. Just froze "Power Genie" app via Titanium Backup. I think it turns the power saving feature off completely. Will monitor to see if it helps. I'll trade network stability for shorter battery life.
Apparently this problem is getting worse with Lollipop update.
I've been having some issues that i wasn't having before. I've got the OPX for about a month now and it is connected through LTE but i can't access internet.
If i turn airplane mode on and then off, it works for about a minute or so, then stops to work.
Anyone experiencing this?
Everything is ok here no problem yet

check apn's
APNs are there and they are well defined, I have manually redefined them now -> Airplane Mode on -> wait a few seconds -> Airplane mode Off -> surfed reddit for a minute or two, all of a sudden "This page cannot be displayed: 'ERR_TIMED_OUT' "
I would think this is a network problem, but there is a forum thread in oneplus forums where people are complaining about the same as me, although they associate the problem to Wifi and i don't
Also, i don't know if it's related, but I've flashed the latest version from MasterAwesome, the problems started there, i thought it was from the ROM, so i then flashed OOS2.1.3-x, where i had the same problem, then 2.1.2 and still the same issue...
I'm getting something like that issue but very rarely and mostly on WiFi. It comes between sleep and awake states so maybe check out greenify and see if that is the culprit. Or any other app that's restricting any function through the waking of the phone.
My oneplus x detects wifi very well, but does not connect to mobile data. What could be the problem?
Uh I have a similar issue but usually when I'm in motion. (in guessing switching between cell towers) what's your network. I'm using Tmobile US

Same problem I had yesterday. Must have tried 10 ROM's all of them flashed fine and everything worked except cellular data. I had no data what so ever. As soon as I flashed back to stock ROM data worked fine. So there must be a step or something we've missed in flashing custom ROM's spent all day yesterday trying to figure it out with no luck. Finally gave up and went back to stock. I'll wait for the official OTA marshmallow update from Oneplus
I'm having this issue right now with full 100% stock. Does any of you have the problem solved?
Just wiped data + cache + factory reset, but still no luck. I've also created a ticket on OnePlus support.

Are you using 2 SIMs? Data does not work for me on SIM 2 Slot but works fine on SIM 1.
I also can't connect to mobile data. There is no LATE/4G icon in the status bar but if I pull down the notification panel, LTE appears above the network icon. I've tried in both SIM slots. None of them work. The SIM card works fine on other phones.

Did you reset APNs in the back up menu?

Yeah, I've tried 2 other working SIMs and I've deleted/resetted APNs, even manually configured them (copied from my other phone).
Maybe you lost the IMEI. Try to find it with *#*#4636*#*#

Android N, same issue with all ROMs.. tried everything, no luck lte doesn't work at all.
Hi!
I did rooted my phone and unfortunatelly there is one problem...I lost my data connection. I have wifi and I can make calls but mobile data is just not working at all.
I have tried some methods...restart, sim out and back and restart, manually pick the provider and restart etc... nothing works.
I did not flashed any ROM but using stock so its wierd.
Any suggestion for a solution how to get back my mobile internet connection?
Thank you in advance,
Tom
I had been using Resurrection remix 5.8.5 2017/10/17. The phone was working fine until some days earlier the battery percentage showed weird issues such as jumping 5-10% sometimes even 20% at once. So I took my battery to 0% and left it to charge through night. At morning I found my network had gone. So I restarted but the problem was there. I had backup of modem and efs files and restored that but after that the network keeps connecting and disconnecting in interval of seconds so rolled back to miui but the problem is still there. And now when I enable my data the network issues remains there and also my phone keeps locking frequently even if I am using. Suspectible apps that I had installed: substratum,Game Guardian,Lucky patcher, magisk and some of its modules. Any help anyone?

I flashed latest global developer fastboot rom through edl but the network tower blinking ie. disconnecting and reconnecting is still there. I cant find out what to do.
Also when the data is being used or if I call at the moment I get network the network remains stable and I can complete the calls and get message or use data I have never faced such weird issue.
Check network strength from about phone, it may be a network problem & happens frequently if you're on Jio.
Also, use VoLTE 4G sim in sim slot 1 & it's not a software problem.

Thanks mate but I think I got it right. What I did was removed the back cover of the phone unplugged some cables blew some air to clear out dust. And then reassembled and turned my phone on. And then after it turned on opened phone information *#*#4636#*#* and then finally put on the sim and voila the problem was gone. And restarted to check if the problem was gone or not and I am happy everything is OK. Anyway U are the best one for me Btw I don't know what caused the issue...
