Google Home app won't connect - Google Chromecast 2015

Apologies for the convoluted story, it's been a weird evening.
I installed a new Philips Hue light, and so as usual I unlinked Hue from Home, to relink and update the new light (I didn't know about the "sync devices" command). Except, this time, Hue wouldn't link, no matter what I tried. I got in touch with Hue support, and they suggested creating a new home and linking that to Hue. But now, when I tried that, I got "Unable to create home" error messages - except that the new home names appeared in my account settings (although nowhere else). At this point I uninstalled and reinstalled Home - now, the app wouldn't even connect to my Google account at all. I fiddled around a bit, and managed to get onto one of the new homes I'd created, but my original home had disappeared. I deleted the new homes, and checked my original home on my partner's account. On her account, I could connect to Hue no problem, nothing was different (wish I'd tried it earlier!). I tried to invite myself back into the home, but the app won't open the invite - clicking it opens the app, but doesn't do anything else. I also once again can't make new homes.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?

I had the same issue, when I just bought my TV. Tech support didn't really help me, so I replaced this TV with another model

ChatOn: Can't complete registration

Has anyone had any issues registering within the ChatOn app? I am able to get my verification code via text msg (which is automatically filled in and skips to next step), but when I enter my name I get an endless "Waiting..." progress meter. (Trying to register through the website only refers me back to the app.)
I tried this over LTE and wireless without any success. I did notice the keyboard icon in the notification bar, and the notice says "Ongoing: Select input type" (or something similar), so I wondered if it got stuck on that step somewhere. I do select my keyboard there (Swiftkey) without any result.
I've also tried using the default Samsung keyboard, but same thing.
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app?

Yep, I did that a few times. But I forgot that this is no longer an issue. Shortly after posting the thread, the I was able to complete the installation.
I've since disabled the app. I was under the impression it was a catch-all messenger, not that it required setting up on other peoples' phones too. I really just wanted to have something that I could both MSN in general and BBM my sister (who's stuck on BB).
Thx

[Q] Revoking access & permissions to Google Account

I was messing around on my LG G2 and went into the Google Settings app which I never really have before just out of curiosity. I went into the App Connections menu and found a few things like MightyText that I haven't used in a long time. I tried to revoke the permissions right from the phone but it came up with a message that I couldn't, so I came onto my desktop PC and went to Google accounts and was able to revoke it there.
My question is, now in Google Accounts from my desktop browser, I'm seeing multiple instances of things like "Android Login Service" and feeling a bit paranoid that there's more than one. Although they can probably all be explained, I've used this same Google account on probably 3-4 phones now, a few random tablets that have come and gone, etc.
I've seen conflicting reports of what will happen if I break all these connections. I've seen it said that once revoked, my phone will simply prompt me to sign back in the next time I use it, and a fresh Android Login Service will reappear in my Google account. But I've also come across some help threads on message boards where people make it sound like they accidentally revoked permissions like that and then set off a chain reaction of errors that isn't letting them sign back in on their devices, acting like it doesn't recognize them or passwords aren't correct, etc. Definitely don't want to create any issues like that or not be able to use my same Google login anymore.
So what I want to know is can I just eradicate all the permissions I'm seeing connected to my Google account and sign right back in and be fine, or if I revoke the wrong thing do I risk being locked out forever? Unfortunately none of the instances of "Android Login Service" give any indication of which device it was for, so I'd be revoking permissions blindly and hoping to be able to reset any that relate to my currently used G2. Would just be for peace of mind since I have sold most of my old devices and someone out there is still using them, although I went all this time without realizing that these permissions were still active anyway...
Thanks.

[Close] Replaced charging port - Apps & launcher missing, rom & settings present

[Close] Replaced charging port - Apps & launcher missing, rom & settings present
Hi,
First post on xda, even though I've been using this forum helping others through various friends accounts without registering myself.
So heres my problem.
Basically my charging port was kinda bent, stopped working for a few days last month, til' I stuck a toothpick inside for a few hours to give it some opposing force. so.... I decided to order a new one on eBay (US seller and all).
Some details before I start the core story:
SGS2 I9100 (I9100-T variant), Rooted, CM11 Nightly (20150302), Android 4.4.4
Went on to install it today, noticed the board rev number is different but all in all the same. Installed perfectly, booted up the phone and all my apps are missing.
Only ones seem to be some sort of "minimum" version of gapps. GO launcher is missing, play store is missing etc. Settings, home-screen background, lock-screen, alarm clocks, sms, contacts etc ALL present.
now is the funny part: in settings-superuser list i can see all the apps that have the permissions i gave. app list is essentially blank, except for those few minimal system apps i see in the app drawer, no downloaded apps. I cant install play store from apk (wanted to check if i can re-download my app).
Tried returning back to my original charging port, Still the same issue.
Tried checking if I accidentally popped some flex cable relating to USB/memory. found nothing.
Searched for similar issues, nothing that matches my case, unfortunately.
Please help
I gave up and decided it will take more time to fix this, than to factory reset and just re-arrange all my **** back together.
For anyone reading this in the future, please share if you had this problem (or similar) and solved it.

Unwanted Vchat App icon appeared on home screen, but not in application manager

I just noticed that an application was added to my home screen called Vchat. I didn't install this app. I checked the application manager and my account in the play store and this app doesn't appear in either. I'm not really sure what this is and what the best way to remove it is. I haven't clicked on it. I also notice random ads popping up after the unlocking the screen, though they are very sporadic.
I'm on a LG G5, the verizon version, running android 7.0.
Girlfriend also has this on her Samsung Galaxy A5, couldn't identify an app in app list which matched. Removed from home screen and hoped it was simply a sketchy weblink. Will follow post to ensure phone is secure or if an app needs removing. Seems to have appeared in last 24 hours.
I tried running avast and malwarebytes on my phone. Neither of those detected anything.
Came up 3/30
I Googled this yesterday, glad I did again today to find this forum. I bought this phone March 22nd and I am noticing my lock screen button stopped working around the same time the app appeared. This phone is brand new from amazon and I am about to return it, but something tells me this issue is software related as the button was working fine on 3/29 and now it clicks and is responsive to the touch, but it will only "sometimes" lock the screen. Right now it is fully functioning, but it will start to fail if I have too many apps open, or if I am running a game. It specifically won't work while in an app, but will work when on the home screen with no apps open.
On top of all of this, my phone has been getting weird ads, but male ware detection doesn't see it, also, the phone is a lot slower now. Whatever this is, I don't want to be connected to it.
Update: the v stands for Vietnamese. The app is some Vietnamese chatting service. Googled "vchat' you guess should try it too.

I did look it up and found that. I'm just trying to figure out how it got there and how to remove it.

I got frustrated trying to figure out how to remove this app, so I decided to restore the phone to factory defaults. I've only had the phone for a month, so I didn't have much on it.
Galaxy S5
I have a Galaxy S5 Android version 6.0.1 and this URL shortcut also appeared on my homesceen. Likewise I would like to know what app / service was used to create this advertisement so I can disable / uninstall it.

Chromebook Flip (C302CA) Can't Run Chrome!

I have a STRANGE issue going on that I'm hoping the XDA community can help with.
My Asus Chromebook Flip has been a tank since I got it (warranty ran out 3 weeks ago, of course). Out of the blue it suddenly started rebooting "randomly". After doing a Powerwash and a full OS image restore (from microSD) it was still doing it, but I noticed that it seemed to only do this after Chrome would get re-synced with all my extensions. After I had turned off all extensions and another restore I refused to load Chrome itself and instead watched Netflix via its app, played lots of Android games and then loaded Firefox and browsed that way. So far it's been rock solid again.
I looked over the logs in file:///var/logs/chrome and they are of little help (to me). They show several different errors including something called Gaia login issues, bluetooth issues, devices not existing, etc. Nothing to me is obvious from them. It seems like a corrupted Chrome. Asus is of little use as they want $60 for a diagnostic fee, can't tell me what it will cost to "repair" and will have the unit for at least 10 days. My fear would be they'd send me a bill for like $200 to repair and send me a crappy refurb that wil then fail the same way once I resync Chrome. (My flip is in a clear case and is pristine).
Has anyone seen this sort of thing before? The obvious course (again, to me) is to go into Chrome and turn on extensions one-by-one until I find, hopefully THE culprit assuming that is the cause. Hoping someone here may have gone through this and found the culprit or likely culprit before I begin this hunt, especially since all my extensions are also disabled on my desktop due to the sync. I have extensions for Forecast Fox, Dashlane, Google Calendar Plus, Honey, Color Picker, U-Block, Tampermonkey (to allow a script to check pop accounts more often... now that I type that this seems a good prospect) and others I'm forgetting now.
Thanks.

It seemed to, though I didn't spend much time doing Guest as there's a lot of limits on it (for example Netflix won't work as a Guest). I didn't try a new account because I don't really have one, though I could create one just for testing.
