[Hisense A5 Pro CC] How to root/unlock bootloader? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
We have the root for Hisense A5, but we know that the Hisense A5 Pro CC is a chinese Phone and it will not be probably avaiable to UE or US.
This is an incredible phone, fast refresh color eink.
Instead of the Hisense A5/A5c that uses SD 439 as CPU, the Hisense A5 Pro CC uses UNISOC T610 CPU.
Any devs ould be so gentle to tell everyone who owns the phone what to do in order to provide information from the phone, for a possible Bootloader Unlock, Root, Custom Recovery, and mostly important install Google Play services and Google Play Store?
The Phone also run on VISION OS which is what is used by Hisense Smartphones. It uses special image algorithm for the "eink smartphones" they produce. If anyone is interested on porting that algorithms to make the screen work as on the stock OS into a custom os, that would be amazing!

Yes this would be amazing, specially with this phone comes without Gapps so it´s really useful if you can help us with rooting .

Looking forward to dev progress for this device. I wish it had qualcomm instead of novel unisoc processors.
"Unisoc T610 processor (2 x 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex A75 + 6 x 1.8 GHZ ARM Cortex-A55)"
It has huge battery and novel screen and would be fantastic to expand the ability and tighten security on device by developing an unlock/rooting method.

I just received this phone. But It cannot be unlocked by using identifier token(normal way to unlock SPD). And the official ROM of it have not been released yet.
I had Linux and Win PC. A little bit of knowledge related to Android. By the way, this phone is running Android 10 in default.
I could share the official ROM with you when it been published.
I'm very glad if I could help you with anything.
And I'm interest in rooting or unlocking this phone. If you know the way to do that, I'm glad to try it.
This is not a perfect product. And the ppi of colored e-ink is very low(1/3 of normal e-ink). But it really make me feel exciting.
I pretty want to share some images with you. But XDA could only insert the pic by URL. Could anyone share me some website could used for store my pics?

The screen protector has a little blue(which is pasting by the factory).
There are many points(I'm not sure whether this work is current) on the screen compared with normal e-ink.
Well, I have posted the pic in this post. But I cannot see it. May be due to network issue?.

I cannot see picture. In other pictures and video I have seen the Pro CC screen is definitely slightly darker than the non-color version, and you can see slight black specks in the screen which are the color pixel layer. It still looks very easy to read on, mine is in the mail I hope it is not so much worse than normal eink for reading a book.
Where did you order from?
There are also matte screen protectors for the device I have found online. My intention is to remove the factory layer, add glass screen protector, and add matte plastic protector on top of that.

In my opinion, matte screen protectors may not a good choice. As it may make you feel more worse about this color e-ink(lower resolution).
Yes, it is more darker. compared with normal e-ink, it is not good enough. But it could show colors! Thats pretty good!
I ordered it from JD.com(at least for now, it only sold on this website). It is 1999 CNY for A5Pro CC(6+128),1799 for CC 4+64 and 1599 for A5Pro(4+64, normal e-ink).
Well, I'm Chinese. Normally, JD.com could offer an oversea delivery, and I also see this tag under this product. But I don't know the fee and will it work under this CO-19 situation.
If you have any problem with the Chinese language. I'm glad to help you with it.
***I strongly recommend you should only buy this phone from JD.com! This is the only way Hisense sale this phone for now!***
My CC is 6+128. I'm glad to answer you if you have any questions about it.
By the way, if you cannot find a suitable screen protector. You can try the screen protector for Xiaomi 8. Most A5 owners use the protector of Xiaomi 8. And they said it is pretty suitable for A5.

The official ROM had been released. But it only contains 3 bin files. I had try to use binwalk to extract it. But failed. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I finally decided to refund my A5Pro CC. I really like it. But it does not have a Gyroscope. Most importantly, I really cannot find a way to root it. It's really not acceptable to me. 2K CNY is an expensive price. But users do not have other choices.
I wish you guys could find a way to root it. I'm wait to buy it back in the future.
If you need anything, official ROM or others. I'm glad to help.

From my search it appears that the Xiaomi 8 has a bigger screen than the A5. It does not seem that the screen protector would fit. Are you sure that is the model?

I haven't tried it by myself. But a lot of A5 users said that is ok. I think this is due to the edge of Xiaomi 8 screen is curved. The screen protector may not cover the cured part. And maybe the front size of they are the same, A5 had a larger frame compared with Xiaomi 8.

I just upload the official ROM of A5Pro(CC), hope this will be helped.
remainder: just like other Hisense ROM, after unzipping it, you could only find .bin files which been encrypted.

These bin files are not encrypted. They just pack all the partitions in these two bin files. There may be some scripts used by Hisense employees to unpack these files. Hope this script will leak out one day.

This method had been used by Hisense for years and still no leak.
I just curious, if it's not encrypted, could we just use "package_extract_file()" function in recovery(update-script?) to unpack it?
Is there any way to call this function directly?

We do need to try things. Anyone here owns an infinity cm2 dongle to see if we can recuperate the original firmware?

help, i jut brick my A5 pro CC, i just installed talkback and now my phone is unresponsive the touch screen not work anymore, i try to fastmode (power plus vol up) but command not appear in fastmode to hard reset, some body can find me a firmware (original rom) so i can try to flash via fastboot? thanks for your attention

Different screen manufacturer?

Hello.
I bought my P9000 a while ago and today, my friend bought it, too. We both have same custom ROMs on them, and I tried to compare them with max brightness. His phone has much more vivid colors and is brighter, too. The mira vision settings are the same. What could this be?
EDIT:

Maybe the colour settings?
Where? I only thought the MiraVision plays the role (which was set the same)... I even clean flashed the ROM, but no change.
Sorry I don't really know.maybe you could exchange it
Anyone got any ideas? The problem still persists... Unfortunately, I cannot exchange it.
could you provide the [email protected] i want to see if i have the problem
On the pictures I can clearly see 2 differences: camera and display border. The left phone has a slightly thinner border.
To me it seems like the phones are different variants. There is the "P9000" and the "P9000 lite" which has a slightly bigger border, no fingerprint, etc.
Check here if you want to see all the differences: http://www.gizchina.com/2016/03/03/elephone-run-differences-p9000l-p9000-lite/
If the phones are both the genuine P9000 and not the lite variant I'd like to know which phone was purchased at which date, because I eventually want a second P9000 and don't want to have crippled version of it!
I bought a new screen. I got this message from the seller:
"Hi, Friend,
nice day.
just kindly remider for you.
there are two factory produce the original new lcd screen for Elephone P9000,
1. reference number: 13756-FPC-A-A284-
2. reference number: TFT5K1856FPC-A1-E
we not sure which reference number send for your order due to we have both above two from ELEPHONE.
if the screen shows no image when you install but back light up, do not worry, it is not the screen problems. we got the date from ELEPHONE COMPANY to make it works great.
the mobile will NOT have any risk to lost any date for personel.
so if you have above problems, just contact us and leave your email, we will send 2 emails to help you make it works great. one for documents, and one for steps how to do.
if it is no problems, you can ignore this message."

Thanks. That must be it, then. Too bad, that they differ so much in quality. Kind of disappointed, to be honest. But okay, cannot complain much over a 200€ phone, though. For this price range, it's great.

Sorry for the late reply. They were bought about 2 months apart, the dimmer one was bought earlier. And they are from the same dealer on ebay.
Which LCD Model has been used
Service code *#*#33#*#* Single Test - RF test lcm : ?????
This is interesting, thank you for postin OP.
My only 2 issues with this phone are 1) The max brightness in sunlight of the screen and 2) The internal speaker ,, Is there a Google App that can read the LCD manufacturer information? I tried AIDA64 and Android HW Info but they couldn't say it. I bought my P9000 in the first release month.

Hey, sorry for late reply... Did the test, and it is 13752 model. I googled that and somebody at german forum said it has low saturation and brightess, too....
EDIT: LOL! I see that you posted that there, haha. Yeah, this is probably a ****ty panel. I will ask my friend to do the same.
EDIT 2: He has a different model... 71067. Can we do something about this? I mean, how can a company gives a ****ty pannel to some, and a nice one to others?
Contacted elephone. They wrote:
"Hello,
Thanks for you information,
I have confirmed for you, may because they are from different batch.
Best regards,
Teresa"
After that, silence. I asked them how can they give such lower quality to some, and much better to others.

Huawei Cheating with some components on the P10

This is all over the news in China apparently. Sounds like huawei substituted worse components into P10s which is really sad and makes me angry as I was just about to order one.
https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/...p10-storage-benchmark-results-shows-they-did/
Just saw that, and WOW.
BTW the link listed in that article as "Huawei forum" is not the official forum.
The official forum is trying really hard deleting threads, and in some forums "UFS" and "emmc" are now sensitive words.
Yes, they did.

Not only open close apps but actual load times and such...things that make a difference in real life. I'm pretty sure there will be a big difference between eMMC5.1 and UFS2.1 in real life.

I got a P10+ 6+64G Greenery in China and it was eMMC. I used it for 1 day and returned it because it's not as smooth as my Honor V8 and it lags occasionally when opening apps and scrolling the screen.
All complaining posts in Huawei's official forum were removed. They only show the good reviews there. It's 21st century but a Chinese giant is still doing such things

I returned it successfully because I didn't mention anything about the different internal flash problem Some returns were rejected if they mentioned this problem in the reasons of return.
It's good that the problem exposes to the public as the consumer should know it before they decide whether they should buy it.
Lucky you, I have on of the P10 with DDR3 and how knows if it has also eMMC5.1 instead of UFS2.1, and the problem is that I bought it more than a month ago here in Spain. I guess I will have to argue with the shop in order to have it replaced by a new P10 that MAYBE it has the same problem.
Man, I switched from Xiaomi in order to avoid several things (besides ROMs) like the quality of the manufacturing process (sudden death and things I've suffered in the last couple of years with several Xiaomi models) and now Huawei is even worse. I am very disappointed with Huawei, this is my first and maybe last Huawei phone.
At the end all manufacturers have their problems, Samsung with the Note model is an example. Maybe paying more than 800€ for an iPhone is worthless at the end...

Good luck! This is the first time that I know that eMMC is found in Europe. Maybe the source of your P10 is also from China? As you said, you bought it more than a month but it was only released just 1 month ago in China.
I understand that manufacturers always get the same component with different brands. The main point is that they have the same specification. But Huawei uses components with different specifications in the same model. That's really unacceptable. I am also very disappointed with Huawei as I used 2 Huawei phones (Honor 3C and Honor V8), which were good phones.
Well, according to some benchmarks I did, the memory controller seems to be UFS2.1 finally so there is no problem with mine!!
So I am relieve! But I would like to be able to check out the hardware components of my phone to be sure, who knows...

Looks like ufs 2.0
Not ufs 2.1 but its better than emmc 5
I have the same results and am more than happy with my p10
Should do a poll about how many user have eMMC, what region + model. I've been Huawei fans for long time but now I kind of feeling been cheated (placed order of the p10+ and not knowing what will I get). Now I am leaning towards cancelling the order before it shipped out.
So question is does international varient i.e L09 and L29 been effected by this scandal?
There are 3 things chinese fans was flaming about are:
1) no Olephobic coating
2) UFS, eMMC
3) LPDDR3, LPDDR4

Moto X4 Dbrand Skin Support

UPDATE: Now available!
https://dbrand.com/shop/moto-x4-skins
I had great results using Dbrand on my Moto Z play to protect the glass on the back especially the camera glass. But it looks like they haven't announced support for the X4 yet.
After I emailed them they said they are on the fence for supporting it. So please if your reading this head to the link and select "skin request for a new device" and send them a quick message.
https://dbrand.com/contact
I think it would only take a hand full more messages to get them to support the device.

Done. I'd like to see a super slim case like the MNML or Peel brand, but I would make do with a skin, especially for the back glass and camera.
+1, I'm hoping they'll change their minds soon as a dbrand skin would be perfect for this phone.
Here's the response I got today:
Thanks for reaching out. We’re still on the fence about supporting the Moto X4. We haven’t received enough requests to begin prototyping and production immediately, but we’ve received enough to still have it on the table as an option. Keep an eye on our Twitter in the coming weeks for updates. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with and have a great day!
Signed,

So they have it in consideration but they still need more individuals to reach out!

After all the money they pay YouTube reviewers, they'd be able to support more phones. I'm sure it would take them no more than a few hours to make a template if they wanted.

I am clueless to the process of making these skins, but considering how fast they were able to post the new Razer phone skins you would think it would be in their best interest to make skins for the budget moto x4. Perhaps I am biased, but it seems to me that demand would higher for a $400 android one phone than a $700 gaming phone made by a computer peripherals company.

Agreed. I don't really even see the Razor phone having that high of demand either. TBH, I think it will be about as successful as the Nextbit Robin, or the Essential Phone.
Does anyone have any experience with GadgetShieldz? Looks like they're supporting the X4.

I came to know about this site when I saw your post. Yesterday I ordered skin for Moto X4 from this site [Back: Sandstone Black, M Logo: Brushed Titanium]. As I am from India, I received it in a single day. Quality of the material is good and all the cutouts are accurate. However, today I applied skin to a phone for the first time ever, still I managed to do it more than 95% correctly. I messed it up slightly at the corner edges.
The skin looks good and I am happy with it.

I removed the camera skin yesterday as it was making trouble for the wide angle lens. Although I had applied it well, corners of the frame were appearing slightly blackish while capturing photo with wide angle lens. There was no issue with primary lens, only wide angle lens was getting affected.

Whos getting it?

I've had the V30 since launch and am looking hard at the V60. I've never owned a Samsung, but also considering the S20.
I currently have a Note9 as my main device and a Mate 10 Pro as a back up. This is because I really like using a desktop mode on my device. Now LG have implemented a version they come into my sights as a viable option. And the V60 looks to be an awesome option. The second screen looks genuinely useful as well.
I'm considering the V60 as my next option. I'm on a Moto Z Play with a cracked screen so I've been looking for something to upgrade to for quite some time. The V60 checks all the boxes I need:
good sized battery
good screen
good connectivity
good audio
good features
I probably won't use the dual screen accessory often. If they price the V60 right, it will be an instant buy for me.
Depends on whether I can remap the STUPID assistant button or not. If I cannot remap it, then absolutely NO! Turning it off is not good enough. If it is there I want it to do something, but I never use these useless assistants at all!
I'm extremely tempted.. after ordering my s20 Ultra 3 weeks ago and coupled by the fact that I am still awaiting it to ship I'm about to cancel my order and await for this to officially drop.

I'll probably think about getting one because I'm not satisfied with my LG G8 battery life. It's kinda bad. Probably a bad unit, I know most people are getting decent battery life.
Although the V60 will probably be too big for me. Owned a 6.4" phone in the past and it was big, but 6.8"? Damn lol

Did a live chat with LG tech support yesterday to ask whether the STUPID dedicated Google Assistant button could be remapped to anything more useful...The answer was NO. So I told the tech to forward my decision to those who make such decisions that they lost a sale. I hate useless features that cannot be disabled, uninstalled, or especially for a hardware button...cannot be remapped to something else. Their loss...many more fish in the sea! Looking at the new Sony Xperia 1 Mark 2. Meh
Ordered mine first thing this morning. Glad I did because AT&T is now out of stock already lol. Can't wait to come back to LG after having an iPhone for 2 years. I still use my V20 for things my iPhone can't do. I shouldn't need a supplementary phone if I paid $1k.
Lol I got mine

I've found that the tech support people are often very limited in the understanding of what can and can't be done on devices they support. I've ordered one, and I'll let you know what I can find out.

I look forward to hearing from you on the remapping issue. I have done a great deal of searching for answers to my question with several different LG devices that have the button incorporated into the hardware and the answer is always a big fat NO to LG allowing a remap of the Google Assistant button. I have read about a few work around's or 3rd party apps that partially work, and then there are those who say the work around's do NOT work for them...so it appears to be hit-and-miss. Some have surmised that it is Google that doesn't allow this to take place. If that is so then Google must be paying a tidy sum to LG and other OEM's that include the button in their devices. This to me is the epitome of arrogance to think that people want their useless crap forced on them when paying major money for a cell phone. I will be sure to spend my money elsewhere. For LG to agree to a $$$$ contract with Google for something like this will not bale them out of bankruptcy should this phone fail...in fact...it may lead directly to the very failure they're trying to avoid. So sad!

Will you keep the phone in the dual screen housing 24/7? If not, what are you looking at for cases?

Just ordered mine, ATT in the US. So how do we get the Dual Case Offer? I found it finally on the LG site. Have to enter your email and they send a link to send the proof of purchase too, have to wait until you get the phone.

Thanks for the link. Is that just for ATT? Verizon starts taking order March 26.

If you're tired, annoyed or aggravated with O roms, root, or TWRP read here:

Guys I bought this device when it first came out, never did I ever think there would be zero dev interest in the device, or perhaps it would be better to state that the reason there isn't much in the way of dev interest is because Huawei has this device locked down with EMUI and it appears no one can break through. For those who don't need root then this doesn't really matter, but most of my apps do require root. My final solution was to forget the Huawei device and I bought what I believe is the most powerful device on the market today and I've already rooted it and I'm flying along. That device is the Asus Rog Phone 2, you might want to take a look at this and then decide.

I wish all of you the very best but I had enough of Huawei. To be fair I don't think the problem is all about Huawei, a big part of it is the clown in the White House.
I'm out of here, Krissy

Lol @ White House clown.
Interesting review you linked, I'm going to do some more research into the phone, although I'm far from a gamer.
It would be good if you posted your thoughts after using it for a few weeks.
Good luck, I hope you still have the same enthusiasm after getting used to it.
Take a look here.

I'm not a gamer either, my philosophy however is that gaming devices are more reliable and sturdy because of the punishment they take from actual gamer's. My thought is it if holds up for a gamer then it should be no problem for me. So far this phone has proven me correct. One of the specs that blows me away is that there is a setting to set the device to 240 refresh, that's pretty darn quick. If you have any questions I'm open to answering them, that's how impressed I am with this puppy
Every phone I owned for the last 10 years was rooted. I bought the P30 Pro knowing I couldn't and wouldn't root, and I've never been happier.
"All your apps" require root? Your phone sounds FUN! Seriously, no games? No social media? I agree, a lot of apps need root, all of which are important, if you're rooted. Ad-block is the main reason for rooting, but you can't just have ad-block, you need Magisk manager, obviously. And twrp manager, because you need twrp to flash your root. Root browser, for those times you need to fix things you screwed up by being rooted. Greenify, to act as a placebo, because now you're rooted you can't be sure things work as they should. Busy Box for... erm, well nobody really knows what that's for. So yeah that's at least 6 apps. For one thing.
Once I realised you can block ads using the private DNS feature in Android 10, all of the above was pointless.

100% completely agree with you. Have rooted all my android phones in the last 10 years and bought P30 Pro knowing couldn't root it. I use adguard private DNS to block ads and then found out can used YouTube vanced on non rooted phones by simply installing the apk. After thinking could never live without root I'm finding it particularly easy at the moment!
I've rooted every Android phone I've ever had, except my Honor 9, but don't really feel the need for the P30 Pro. Sure there are apps I can't use or install because I'm not rooted but that doesn't detract from an amazing phone. Those [required root ] apps I can probably do without anyway.
Would you run Linux as root permanently? Really?
The choice of rooting or not rooting should be a decision made by the owner of the device, not by the manufacturer. Android is marketed as open source; the practice of not allowing bootloader unlocking defeats that entirely.
Would you buy a car to then be told you're not allowed to modify it in any way? Really?
I am also disappointed but these days there is less and less reason for root. Right not, there are only three features I miss without root:
1. No Titanium Backup, so no easy way to do a full backup and make sure everything is backed up and can be restored
2. No way to limit battery charge (so it doesnt go up to 100%)
3. No DNS adblock (VPN work around is the closest I can find but that seems like it would drain battery)

Android is NOT "marketed as open source". Show me a commercial website where it is "marketed" as such.
Android IS open source for OEMs to adapt to their devices! You bought a piece of hardware from Huawei, with a compiled Android OS. You can get the source code for Android if you want, but it comes with no hardware and no guarantee.
And your car analogy is terrible. Imagine modifying your car's software... and then your tachometer doesn't work right, or your battery drains, or your car won't start... totally unacceptable. Yet you want to do that to your phone?
I want the option to do whatever I wish. It's really quite a simple concept

The closest analogy for the car example is remapping the ECU. Manufacturers go to great lengths to encrypt ECUs and prevent mapping - much like locking a bootloader.
A lot of car mappers have to physically solder wires to certain points on the ECU circuitboard to enable them to map and edit the ECU programming. I'm fairly certain that if you went to that extreme to root your phone you could manage it, but nobody wants root *that* much.
And if you own a car that no engine mapper fancies finding a way to map? You're SOL - much like you are with your P30 Pro.
I used to root, now I dont. I find the devices now do 99% of the things I need without root. The 1%? I can live without Titanium Backup.
I'm sure the Asus device is powerful, but a lot of the people here bought the P30 Pro because they wanted a P30 Pro, not a different phone. Thanks for the review, but it's like going on a VW forum and saying 'OMG guys, sell up and go buy this BMW - IT'S AMAZING' - we're here because we wanted the VW...
@Isis111
Now you've had your ROG 2 for a while how are you getting along with it?
Since this thread I've been following the ROG 2 forum but even though root is available there's not much development happening. I was initially very interested after you started this thread but now I'm not sure the ROG 2 is as good as you said.
So I'm interested what your thoughts are now.
Also, what version do you have, and have you been impressed enough to buy any accessories?
Cheers
