I recently discovered that Textra has adware installed with it, so I am not using it anymore for texting. Now I am using Google Messenger and I don't see a way to auto save my mms pics. Is there a way to accomplish this easily?

When you go to settings->advanced you have an option to automatically download MMS but I don't think it can save them automatically, give it a try

No it isn't, just open a file manager, go to Android then Data and search for "com.google.apps.messaging".
And how in the world deleting the .nomedia file will help anyway ? Are you trolling or am I missing the point ?

Wow, what a jerk. THank you Raiz for watching my back. I sure do appreciate it.
In your opinion is there anyway to get Google Messages to back up the pictures you receive automatically?

For now I think there's no way I know, you'll have to click the save button every time.
But the latest Google messages apk hinrs manual saves and restores for SMS/MMS (https://www.xda-developers.com/goog...google-fi-integration-manual-cloud-restores/)
So your photos could stay in messages anyway :l

I followed the list here from ATT Galaxy S2 and removed tons of unnecessary apps. Some of them not in this list don't touch them. Just remove whatever you see the same in the list.
Thanks Da_G for Root method here
Apps can be removed:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0AnO2-4y6yE1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html
One NOTE:
In TB, Hit uninstall choose yes then STOP right there and look at the ******.apk then compare to the list. This will show you exact name of the apps.
Can you re-do the link for Da_G's root method? I think it's just pointing to the same spreadsheet of apps.
Yep. Your link is to the spreadsheet, not the root method.

Ah sorry guys, Link fixed
Thank you! I was going thru and manually moving ones to a Temp folder that I thought were safe to move. This helped me remove the last bits of crap off my phone.

The spreadsheet is "live update". It's updating, not just a hard copy. You can save it to your own comp

Some ATT apps can be removed without root. So maybe they don't list here
Yeah it really depends on the person and their needs. I didn't like social hub but tpc uses it. Some apps you think are useless might actually be useful for others.
Great list, but I sure would like to see an I717-specific one. I had a lot of apps that weren't on there, and conversely, a lot of stuff there wasn't on my Note.
Here is what I removed (renamed with an ".old" extension).
(at&t apps that could be uninstalled were. Hence why they do not show up here)

Don't be fool by the name. You have to actually hit uninstall in TB back up then compare the real. *.apk with the list. I found at least 95% apps matched.

I keep getting a mystery data file in my gallery app. I try to play the file because it shows up as a video but it doesn't work. I delete it and it eventually comes back. Here is a screenshot of the details of it. Does anyone have a suggestion of where this is coming from and how to get rid of it? Thanks!
I have the same thing. I think it showed up when I made a video available off line on drive. I haven't tried to get rid of it yet so I'm not completely sure on that.

TTS = text to speech, so it is probably related to that.
TTS File
I believe this is caused by a misplaced cache file used by TTS (Text-to_Speech) that is showing up in your gallery. It was probably created if you opened the TTS service under Accessibility in the Settings app. It should be safe to delete but may reappear if TTS is activated, directly or indirectly, again.

It looks like your gallery is mistaking the .tts file for a video file. Apparently .tts can be a file extension for MPEG-2 video formats. Check out this link for more information.
If you want it to stop showing up (and you are rooted) use a file explorer to put a blank ".nomedia" file in the /storage/external_SD/Android/data/ folder and reboot your phone. Or if I remember right, the G3 has a way to hide media files which you dont want to be seen or want to keep private.

I'm looking for a way to save my stuff and access it anywhere if possible. I keep a diarey and other senstive stuff I can't leave on my phone but want to upload text document..video and audio. I would use Google drive but I can't log out of it and issues will arise if I password protect a app. As my woman will go through them and delete What she sees fit... We r looking to split up after 10 years... What options do I have?

I read that they were shut down?
Have you considered Dropbox?
Or if you're looking for a filehost, Zippyshare?
You can also hide apps as opposed to using a password.

I don't think that anyone's posted this specific request, but does anyone have a zip or anything of the native notification sounds that are used on Facebook messenger? I'd like to use them for other apps! If anyone has a link or a link to show me how to extract them that would be great! Thank you again.

I don't mean that one, I meant the other notification tones that Facebook messenger includes in the app natively. Not the ping sound. If there's a zip file containing all of them that would be dope. That's what I'm looking for.

Get Facebook messenger Apk file by backup. Then rename it to zip(Facebook.zip). Extract zip file and go to assets folder and find raw named folder. You get the notification tone in that folder.
