Its warranty...by unlocking bootloader warranty will be void....but service centre technician will flash the stock rom,through edl if software is only issue....
Think twice b4 unlocking ur phone..
If u want to explore ful device potential ,unlocking and doing some stuff is best u got

Thank you dear fluffy.And I would like to get you personal opinion also regarding warranty on unlocking bootloader.Because when I read several tutorials for unlocking the bootloader,some OPs say that the warranty will become void and others say it will no be affected.Also if I install TWRP,what will be state of Warranty and OTA Updates?

We do not spread false news, the warranty with the unlocking of the bootloader is NOT invalidated, Xiaomi allows the unlocking of the bootloader while maintaining the warranty, but if you break it modding with custom kernel / rom you will have to pay to fix it.

Thank you Rhaegar for your solid confirmation.Now I would also like to know whether the Warranty will be invalid if install TWRP without rooting using fastboot.I am looking for build.prop editting using TWRP and ADB.

the warranty will not be invalidated, but if you create damage by modding you will have to pay to fix the device. Before sending it to service, simply remove twrp and install the original recovery.

Hello everyone..
After using ics in my xperia u, I felt its pretty laggy...
So im thinking of unlocking the bootloader..my only doubt is whether after unlocking the bootloader, I completely lose warranty or not..
Does relocking the bootloader restore the warranty or not?..ive seen that for unlocking bootloader, a code is needed which involves provision of Imei no., so does sony store the details in their servers about which phone's bootloader has been unlocked?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

If you unlocked your bootloader, your warranty completely gone. If you know how to relock your bootloader back, then your warranty will restore back if the Sony service centre does not know you unlock bootloader.... unlocking boot loader needs your imei number so they can give you the bootloader code... sorry, my explanation very messy!!! Hope you understand it!!!

If you wanna flash different kinds of awesome ROM than I suggest you unlock your bootloader.. if you scared your warranty gone then don't unlock it... you can overcloxk your kernel by unlocked your bootloader...

i do like playing around with custom roms..
i keep flashing custom roms in my tab 2, but there is no bootloader lock in the tab and i can reclaim my warranty by flashing the stock rom and clearing the binary counter!
i just wanted to know whether the same can be done with my xperia!
going to unlock the bootloader now..wish me luck! :laugh:

Hi .. yes i agree my dear ... but today we have solution of everything if anything goes wrong with our device after unloacking the bootloader ...:fingers-crossed: so i will suggest to unlock it without ant worries and try all the new roms of cm9 & miui

I unlocked the bootloader of my Xperia Neo in order to install custom roms / kernels. Later I noticed that my screen had some objects burnt in it (most likely due to excess heat).
I reverted to stock firmware, relocked the bootloader and sent the phone for warranty repair. They replaced the screen and the touch panel, no questions asked.
In my case, there were no problems with the warranty despite the previously unlocked bootloader. Note that the situation might not be the same for you (different problem, repair staff etc).
In other words, there is a chance that unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty of your phone. It is up to you to decide whether it is worth the risk.

Yeah, that could be the case but I'm not 100% sure: according to Xperia Blog, Sony has refused to repair some phones with unlocked (or relocked) bootloaders (http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/07/25/sony-refusing-hardware-repairs-on-handsets-with-unlocked-bootloaders.

Yes there are traces left behind if you unlock and relock your bootloader-its the DRM keys.They are lost forever once you unlock your bootloader and even if you relock your bootloader,they won't get back.
And if a service center checks for DRM keys,then they'll surely know that the bootloader has been unlocked and you cannot invoke your warranty.
Does testpoint method work on 2012 models? Bcoz that method unlocks BL without loss of DRM keys.
Guide says it works on 2011 models, but doesn't look updated. And anyhow phones with fixed battery will not be able to use it anyhow.

Wait, my Xperia U bought was from the start Unlocked bootloader, does it mean it doesn't have warranty? I don't really care because I've rooted it, but that could be big failure from the shop.
So, i run on this problem - my power button just gave up on working. Everything else is working fine on my cellphone.
Thing is, i have it rooted, and i have twrp, i need to revert to stock so i can send it to warranty.
I'm running stock KIW-L21C432B140 with 5.1.1 version.
Any hints on how i can revert to stock firmware/recovery & unroot, without using the power button?

Just use "adb reboot recovery" to get to TWRP and restore a backup of stock. (Check the file depot thread if you need one)

by the way ur phone warranty is void already unless ur country have some other warranty conditions ! . hope they fix it for u and yes follow @halomademeapc instructions u'll go back to stock

basically unlocking bootloader void the warranty but some international in uk and some other country they fix the phone either rooted or what ever . my country for ex. never fix it =) .. GD luck
But the code to unlock the bootloader was provided by Huawei... that makes no sense

No void warranty opening the bootloader. The said in the conference of the poco in india. The give all the sources and kernel to the developers to make custom rom without problem.

In none of the above scenarios, the warranty will be void. You unlock the bootloader with the approval of the manufacturer. No purpose will be served by simply unlocking the bootloader. It will lead to rooting and flashing of custom ROMs. So having given permission for unlocking the bootloader, the manufacturer can not turn around and deny warranty. Further, this device is supposed to be developer friendly unlike some others which deny warranty even when only the bootloader is unlocked.
So enjoy flashing!

im still triggered from samsung asking 200 dollars for minor repairs.
never looking back to the big manufacturers.

Hehe, that's true. I've got now Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, but soon I will get new poco, and I'm very glad I can experiment with this smartphone without any serious problems.

No phone manufacturer gave warranty after rooting except xiaomi, the great phone company. That why I were owned 4 redmi phones including poco F1

I massaged to Poco India support about this and they said that unlocking the bootloader will not void my warranty but if I install any custom rom then it will void my warranty.

Just unlocking bootloader wont void warranty. anyway even if flash custom roms and root your device, u can flash stock rom and relock bootloader using mi flash tool if u need to visit service center.
Still risky but worth it
Imagine the circumstances where your phone's display is dead or maybe your battery is faulty or you're just unable to boot for some reason. Then you're just screwed. The warranty is already void because you wanted to flash that new rom which imo is already miles better than MIUI. And now you've to pay full price for the battery or display or mb, even though it's been only 3 months since you bought it. Expect zero to minimum support from the companies when it comes to any type of flashing or customizing. Hence, every rom has this BIG disclaimer that it may or will void warranty and they can't do anything about it.
When it comes to flashing roms and kernels, you're completely responsible for everything you do. For me and afaik, most of the xda community don't really care about the warranty but for the minority of people who actually do, be ready to take that risk if you want that sweet Pixel like experience on your Poco F1.

i dont think u need root for flash kernels. if u want to unroot just open magisk manager and hit uninstall from there or download magisk uninstaller zip then flash it through twrp

Wow this differ a lot on other poco user. Some benefit a lot some dont. I bet this is not entirely has todo anything with screen but rather than a couple of unlucky low quality chips being used.

OK bro, listen.
There's no way someone can know if you've rooted your phone after you reflash the Stock rom.
And about unlocking bootloader, you are applying for it and the mi itself is allowing you to do it, so no risk there; also you can relock your bootloader.

Yes it does bro.
There is a particular tweet from Alvin Tse clarifying what is covered in the warranty. He mentioned that the warranty covers even if the device is rooted, bootloader unlocked and customized. However, it will not cover customization related to overclocking of hardware in anyway will void the warranty. This cover but is not limited to CPU overclock, screen refresh rate increase and battery charge tweaks.
