Hello,
I want to make a custom ROM based on a stock i9001 ROM. However when I extracted the tar file there were IMG and ext4 files. I know how to make a rom via cygwin when i have: 1) system folder
2) META-INF folder
And 3) boot.img
I don't know what to do to the stock ROM

Help Building a CUSTOM(from STOCK ROM)
Newbie here---
- I have downloaded the HTC stock RUU for my device.
- I used Android Kitchen cygwin to extract the files, setup the working folder.
- Added root permissions,BusyBox
- Built the rom from working folder.
Wanted to test whether this works or not... But Phone Got stuck on HTC logo .. Not even BOOTANIMATION.
What did i miss or DO wrong here??
Where in these steps worked flawlessly when i took a custom rom? What else should be done here?? Help would be Appreciated!!!

My Answer is for kagouro - Becouse i Don't see your post when I write.
If Your Phone is dedected in adb you can use logcat (adb logcat in windows cmd) if phone don't dedected in adb - flash recovery via fastboot, join in recovery , instal working rom and found bad files in rom (try add modyfication singly - first root, second busybox etc - in this metod you can see whad mod don't work - probably stupid method but work :cyclops

Kitchen will replace certain necessary parts of your ROM if it isn't compatible with the kitchen, it puts them back when you compile. When you compiled your ROM did you take the guided option? Also, and probably the first thing I should have asked, is your phone compatible with kitchen?

OK, just for giggles try this, take the meta-inf folder from a rom you know works and using 7zip replace the one in your rom. Let me know if that helped at all:beer:

Ext3 is a mount point, I'm not sure what it would be specific to your device, but it tells me there's an error in your updater script

Hello People !!!
I am uploading partitions/fastboot images for OP2 here :-
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=40701
Extract the .tar.gz file and find the image.
I am not uploading modemst1 , modemst2 because I don't want all to have my IMEI
We can unbrick soft-bricks using it and the guide for the same will be added here.
If you want to donate to me and want to appreciate my work, feel free to PM me.Thanks a lot.
Good work naman.

cos its their own cook and not community.
its a shame as it would be really handy to have these images (OPO & OP2). To have this not available actually starts to worried me (especially the one for OP2) as it stops community developers making some great stuff
Here are the files
https://mega.nz/#!idAy1Jpa!6ofPBQG27or20m5ftodVFxoXd6QLUnNjl6EKSjUGZ4cc
Download this rar file and extract it . it have Qualcomm app inside it for flashing the rom.
I say again this is h2os rom fastboot files not oxygen os . these are to jus recover phone from brick and boot partition corrupted.
@janjan here you go . if i been any helpful please mention me somewhere in your work or anywhere these files are of any help.

Most of the images that would be in a fastboot rom zip are already inside the full rom flashable zip.
System can be extracted from system.new.dat & system.transfer.list and recovery can be found online.
That just leaves userdata and cache.

Apologize for wrong i did. But these files does help very much to recover from any brick . the process this Qualcomm app does here is very much similar to fastboot flashing.

Yeah.. It is similar to fastboot but still not fastboot... Practically, those files should be used for hard brick cases and fastboot files for soft bricks...
I think someone had extracted camera apk from OxygenOS as well as HydrogenOS and made zips. I personally use HydrogenOS camera using apk. Will share it's link if you can't find. Tell me if you are unable to find.

I bet you can just use the 64 data .img from the OPO, cause it's an empty RAW partition (for deleting the content). And who needs the cache
I'm on generating the system.img from system.dat and .list files, but having time for now, hope can do it today...
I extract system from spflash (to make .Img into a folder), and try to add to my meta-inf and boot.img and it doesn't boot... the script is correct, I'm sure of it, it just formats system, and drops the system folder to /system, but it still doesn't boot.. what am I doing wrong? I've made stock based rooms for other devices but the stock rom was already in system folder type(I didn't have to extract system.img) and I guess it's something to do to the way I extract system.img.. how can I fix it?
Hi.
Did you convert the sparse image? If you extract the img without converting it, then it will not boot. Use simg2img to convert system.img.
Greetings
vsrookie
Ps. Please attach script.

THE FOLLOWING GUIDE IS FOR OREO IMAGES.
TO UNPACK AMLOGIC 9.0 PIE IMAGES, WATCH THIS TUTORIAL VIDEO: https://youtu.be/exDD6YOC4HU
Hey Everyone! Many people requested me on forumXperience to make a repacking/unpacking guide for Amlogic Oreo/Pie Images. So yesterday, when I had time I started to create my own windows tool for you guys to unpack and repack Amlogic Oreo/Pie Images.
You can now easily extract files in a few clicks and edit them to flash on your devices!
Very simple to use and it works great and is also faster than stock Amlogic Customization Tool which unfortunately doesn't support Oreo images.
There may be a few bugs that I am unaware of, so please let me know if you run into any problem. Later, I may add recovery and kernel unpacking option in the tools.
Thanks to Ricky for his Customisation Tools, I used his binaries for this project
The tool is pretty much open for everyone to edit and modify, it has batch scripts so you can easily edit with Notepad and learn the process of Amlogic Unpacking/Repacking manually [emoji23]
Here you can download the tool:
[Amlogic Unpacker by Nayam.zip]
3.26 MB
it works fine. thanks.....
i was going to buy the other tool but this did the work without any money

Good to hear. This has been flying under the radar and people really didn't care about this tool. Glad to see atleast there's someone using this.
Yes it does unpack/repack oreo images but it doesn't (yet) unpack recovery and kernel which I thought were not really important for the time being. Unpacking vendor and system will do all the work if you want to mod ROMs. Kernel and Recovery modifications are really not required and can be avoided by using alternative ways.

I unpack LVL 1 & LVL 2 with nayams tool (works great :good: ). make changes (example: delete one app, paste another) ... and then?
Unfortunately I can not just unpack lvl2 with nayams tool. To unpack lvl2 I have to unpack lvl1 ..
and with rickys tool I can only pack lvl1 when i try to repack lvl2 it dosent work .. can you please explain to me briefly how I have to do it?

get rickys customisation tool, in the folder of ricky customisation tool, create a folder called "tmp".
Now unpack your firmware with nayams tool (both level 1 and 2) and copy the level 1 and 2 folders from the "unpacked" folder and paste them into you newly created "tmp" folder.
start rickys customisation tool, edit and repack your rom from there.
hope that make sense

I'm sorry for not explaining everything correctly.
Level 2 is unpacked after unpacking level 1.
You cannot unpack level 2 without unpacking level 1 first.
Similarly, the repack script I wrote first repacks level 2 and then repacks level 1. If you want these separated, I can provide that too.
So you need to run the scripts in order.
Run script number 1, then 2. Then make changes in level 2 folder and then run repacking script.

it does repack the firmware but after flashing the a95x max, it just hangs on the boot logo and doesnt get to the boot animation.
as said before, if i take the unpacked level 1 contents from your tool and repack with rickys tool, A95X max flashes and boots perfectly.
level 2 to level 1 repack doesnt seem to be an issue, purely level 1 to img repack.
