My friend somehow scratched the screen with his nail, and now there are fine scratches on my screen...one of which is causing a rainbow effect when the screen turned white. Any help on removing,or at least reducing the scratches?thanks for any help
Believe it or not, but the X10 comes with a clear non-scratch resistant screen protector. Look closely along the edges around the screen, and use a razor blade to separate it from the screen. You can buy replacement screen protectors on ebay for $1 each. However, they are difficult to apply. I quit using one altogether, and I have found the bare screen to be very scratch resistant.

But I can see a rainbow where there is a scratch
doesn't that mean the main screen got damaged?
I was fooled by the factory screen protector myself. Remove it and see.
I experienced this as well. The factory installed screen protector is very hard to spot and remove, but nothing impossible.
Try Screen protector..
And as long as i know x10 is scratch proof.

Wow strong nails. Is he related to wolverine? Anways try removing the screen protector. All stock x10 has one.

All x10 have stock screen protector. Just remove it when it'sreally annoying to see the scratches! Because when you put new on on it, you will see bubbles and stuff.
Oh i see!.. there's a second micro layer on the glass!.
I've removed my screen protector and my screen is scrached now :-( after about 2 weeks using my x10 without the protector

Buy a Rewashable Screen protector for 1.59$ ( or 2 for 2.99$ ) from ebay. The screen doesn't even react to water now
I put a screen protector on mine without any bubbles. I used water to get it to slide in place and squeegeed the water out.
Also had the battery out and put it in a bag of rice afterwards just in case water got inside. That was 8 months ago and still working well. The only negative is it decreased the sensitivity of the touch screen slightly, but I got used to it.
Here is a guide if you want to apply a screen protector

Use a razor blade to pick up the corner. I broke a nail trying to get the factory screen protector off with my fingers. Lol. Whoever they have applying the factory one really does a great job.
Well whaddaya know, there is a layer. Sneaky little SE salesmen made me pay 25 bucks for another, redundant screen protector. -_-
Thanks for the info!

This is my first time using a Tempered Glass Screen Protector as I was thinking of getting extra protection for the gigantic screen. Installation was very easy and there is not bubble at all. It only takes me two times to install it properly. You'll just need to follow the instruction and use the tools provided with the packaging.all the cutouts are accurate and I like the fact that it does not covers the front facing camera and also the proximity sensor. The screen is HD clear and super smooth as if there is nothing on it!I'll never go back to those cheap plastic screen protectors again.

NO,"halo" issues with the screen protector due to the curved glass of the nexus 6. This glass is slightly smaller all around to eliminate these halos.

PLASTIC
Tried it as the Ivoler protector I had on my M8 was good. I hated the one for the Nexus 6. It was almost the same size as the screen and therefore didn't adhere on the top and bottom edges as the glass on the phone slightly curves. Ordered a Fosmon and much happier with the results. Tapered edges, feels good, and notched for the sensor on top of the screen.
I bought some screen protectors off eBay and they leave about 2mm of space on both sides of the display.
I'm fine with the screen protector not covering the entire front panel but it should at least cover up the display. Whoever designed this film must be out of their mind.
Anyone know of an eBay seller that has a screen protector that actually covers the entire display?
EDIT: I know there are threads about this but they're all about the glass protectors. I'm looking for the film protectors.

Its seems to be the one thing thats hardest to get, I thought the S7 Edge would be the one that would be difficult to get screen protection for given the nature of the screen. I dont know whether its the 2.5D glass on the S7, but any review for screen protectors seem to be bad as there are gaps down the sides. I usually get a glass protector straight away but holding off for now until I decide whether I'm going to bother or not. I had considered one of the film covers but might just go for one of the full screen glass ones like the one below, although I really dont want to take away from the looks of the device.

I bought a tempered glass screen protector off eBay that covers the entire edge but leaving a tiny bit of room for a case to go on without lifting the protector. But the downside is you can see the dot matrix in the sun which isn't a major problem for me. I would rather see a good protector that i paid $10 that had dot matrix then see scratches form over time.

Is it the digitizer that you can see when looking at it with bright sunlight?
No. Since the whole protector isn't sticky like the plastic ones usually are. Only the touch screen part of the protector have these little dots that you will see in bright lighting which is to make touch feel normal. Can be quite annoying sometimes but i get over it. Worth the protection to me

Like in the picture in the post below? As you say its weighing up how much it annoys you vs how much you want to protect your screen.

Yeah thats a pretty good example of "The Dot Matrix Effect" but luckily for me the protector i have isn't anywhere near as bad as that. And definitely not as noticeable. It only annoys me the tiniest amount. But i rarely see it or notice it that much sometimes.

I think you meant it doesn't cover the entire front panel which I'm fine with.
I've recently purchased some black glass screen protectors from CASEBASE.
Fitment is perfect no issues for me.
I do believe they are thinner than others or at least 1 of the thinnest.
They are £6.99 for 2 on ebay.
Just giving you the heads up to protect your op5's
If you found this useful tap thanks

Wow that's terrible!
No peeling on this what so ever and it seems to fill the screen more than that 1.
I've never applied a tempered glass before. Easy enough?

Mine is exactly the same with a slight lift along the bottom edge of the screen. The 3T I had briefly was much worse as the lift was top and bottom.
It's the curse of the 2.5D screen and a slightly misaligned or badly sized protector.

No I've not noticed any loss of screen none that I'm aware off as I make sure the screen is lit up when I'm installing it.
There's certainly no lift it fits perfect.
Hopefully some other buyers will be able to give there opinion on it too soon.
Hello,
there is glue just on the black side of the glass or everywhere (even in the middle) ?
Beside when you look at your phone with a white background, is there some oil effect ?

No, there will be not. Okay well if they change adhesive/glue type.
Working thing would need to entire tgsp be adhesive. Or maybe Whitestone style, they have somekind of different glue system which you dry with UV lamp.
But really oil slick comes because glass is just touching screen part thanks to glue on the sides only. So it leaves really small gap between tgsp and glass and if you havent cleaned your screen like some sort un-humam/robot which is really impossible, there will be oil slick.. Maybe not right after you have installed it but soon. Some manufacters (like Orzly) makes "dots" to prevent oil slick. It basically lift really really littlebit tgsp from phone's glass surface so tgsp wouldnt touch screen surface. But then people are crying about visible annoying dots on tgsp.
Thats why Oneplus official tgsp is adhesive from entire glass. But because of OP3/3T/5 style (glass starts bending before screen ends) they needed to cut about 0.4mm from both side with protectors black borders to not produce halo.
So none of methods what different manufacter use, isnt good enough...
Oh i forgot ones without black borders. Either they will end before screen ends or they will cover entire screen but leaves on sides.

They had the matrix dots on the CASEBASE but they don't seem to help the rainbow affect. Whitestone is the way to go I was tempted to get that kit for my s8+ but I found a protector that worked for the s8 even with its big curve.
I'm very surprised there isn't any perfect 1s for oneplus 5. The CASEBASE is close but not quite there. Fitment in it is good.
I think I'll end up with some tpu on it ?

Yeah dots should theoretically help on oil slick and prevent them but it wont delete those entirely and my personal opinion is that it wont help at all.
Orzly's last year model for 3/3T had also dots and oil slick so im not confident that it would be better for this They still have dots, thats what i know for sure

What company the tempered glass is of?
As the Samsung screen protectors are just plastic ones, I need a real protector and back cover!
Check Amazon. There is a lot to choose from. If you stick to a known brand you should be OK. I had my case and glass screen protector before I received my phone. I got a clear plastic case so I can see the color of my green phone. I have been using similar cases for years without any issues. This is the first time in a long time I got to use a tempered glass screen protector. My last few phones had curved screens and the glass really didn't fit properly.

I'd recommend you a film screen guard from Gadgetshieldz which is not plastic, it is made from nano polymer as I saw on their website. This protector can self-heal so you can get this instead of the plastic ones.
I got the amfilm 2 pack OneTouch tempered glass screen protector. Turned on increased sensitivity, re-registered my fingerprints and it seems fine.
When applying it, press from the bottom where the fp sensor is, it might help.
I went with amFilm HD Clear Hybrid Screen Protector. Its a 2 pack and also comes with 2 camera protectors as well. I didnt use them, but the screen protector looks flawless.
I read too many issues with glass protectors, so while I ordered one, it will stay put away for now.

Thanks for the info, I've ordered one for my S22 Plus and I think it'll get delivered after I get the phone!
I'm going to try the Samsung screen protector (it's cheap and on offer!).
My S20 came with a screen protector already installed, and I discovered, by an accidental drop onto a brick corner, that it does a decent self-healing job. The brick gouged right in the middle of the screen, making a rough raised welt. I thought I'd have to replace it, but after a day it had flattened out, closed up, and become much less noticeable. It's still visible, but it's smooth and looks more like a small chip than a deep gouge.
