Stock Android 10 TWRP - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

Does anyone have the patched twrp boot image for stock android 10 v11.0.15.0.QFQMIXM
If not, can i flash a older version (11.0.8.0) ?
edit
Answer:You can flash another patched boot image if you only need the recovery. If you want to stay with that rom you should find the corresponding firmware version.

No, you can't flash an older version otherwise it won't boot.
Btw it is somewhere in the forum, just search for it, I've installed it a few weeks ago but I'm not sure which one is good, I attach the one that should be good, but if it doesn't boot just reflash the stock rom over it (not sure if you'll lose data or what)

I tried it anyway. I flashed a boot image (firmware version 11.0.8.0) patched with twrp on stock rom version 11.0.15.0 and it booted in recovery.
It worked for the purpose that i needed the recovery.
I didn't try to boot the stock rom, i just proceeded with flashing a custom rom.
btw. the link you gave me needs a password to be accessed, but thanks anyway.
tl;dr You can flash another patched boot image if you only need the recovery. If you want to stay with that rom you should find the corresponding firmware version.

I don't know how it works but when I was trying to flash the 11.0.14.0 patched boot image over the 11.0.15.0 version, it wasn't booting at all.
Well, good you did it

Bootloop Please help

Ok , So I finally was able to unlock my bootloader after getting that 50 % error, I thought that I'd flash miui 8 , so I downloaded the rom from official mi website and flashed it with twrp but for some reason I got stuck in a bootloop. I dont want to download fastboot rom as it takes a lot of time due to slow internet, so could anyone tell me how can i successfully flash a rom from twrp. I've got bot miui 8 chinese developer rom and global beta rom downloaded.
You need patched boot for normal twrp or u must use cofface twrp to flash the rom.
You cant flash stock rom via twrp without patched boot.img
And if you are flashing marshmallow rom u must know that the bootloader will lock itself again.
Why not just flash the miui.eu version? No boot image mess..

Edit : The recovery worked. Thanx.
where can I find a patched boot.img for latest chinese developer rom.Thanx for the fast reply.
Just use cofface recovery for stock roms:

I think that the Alca recovery do the same, but I haven't test it yet

Thanks. Problem solved.

Latest Cyanogenmod doesn't work.

Hi.
So the latest Cyanogenmod (honestly every update out of the CM update that came out on 9th Oct) builds do not work for my device. Whenever I try to boot up the device, the device just gets stuck on the bootup screen, that is the screen where you see the OnePlus logo and there's text in the lower part that says "Powered by Android", except that there is no "powered by Android" text seen.
What should I do in order to get things working?
Sorry to post this in the general thread, I am not yet high enough that I can post in the Android Development Thread.
The latest 2 builds are only compatible with the new Marshmallow Bootloader, AFAIK.
In order to get them working, I would recommend you to flash the full OOS 3.1.3 zip file.
There is the alternative to flash a zip file to get the latest booloader and radio firmware. I haven't tested it, that's why I'm not telling you to do so.

I currently am running the CM 13.0 2016-10-09 build which works like it should. So should I switch to OOS 3.1.3 and then flash the new CM build?

Yes. Just like that. But OOS 3.X.X has new Bootloader. So new TWRP should be flashed.
New TWRP : http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/unofficial-twrp-3-0-2-0-recovery-onyx-t3471584
And flash it as usual.

Wait dude! If you're on OOS 2.X.X based ROM and TWRP, then you should flash official OxygenOS Recovery and then flash the Marshmallow ROM. And now you can flash TWRP root or flash CM13 or xposed and whatever...

Yup. You need to first flash the OOS recovery and then you need to flash the OOS 3.1.3 and then again the TWRP and then you need to flash whichever ROM you want to... Been there, done that. Real pain...

Hi all,
I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve searched several forums, and have seen different solutions, but I’m unsure what solution to follow. The steps in this thread seem the most logical to me. But just to be clear, are this the steps I have to follow, in the correct order? I don’t want to make any mistakes. I’m currently on OOS 2.2.2 with TWRP 3.0.2.0.
(make backup, I’m wiping the whole thing)
Copy OPX_recovery and OOS 3.1.3 to phone
Flashboot flash OPX_recovery.img (Lollipop version, not MM)
Reboot (to bootloader?)
Flashboot flash OOS 3.1.3 (from pc or from bootloader?)
Wipe Dalvik/cache
Reboot (to bootloader?)
Flash twrp-3.0.2-0-onyx-20161020-085152.img as found in post from sundhar88
Flash latest CM13
Wipe Dalvik/cache
Reboot in normal mode
Should I download and keep the CM13 recovery version too?
Your reply would be massively appreciated!

No need for you to do this.

Okay, thanks! I'll try this and let you know the outcome. I have to install CM13 before rebooting out of TWRP, right? "Older roms won't boot" meaning my OOS 2.2.2 won't boot. Just checking...

After flashing the new TWRP for new BL you should reboot to recovery from reboot tab in TWRP.
Then wipe System ,Data and Cache and then flash CM13

Hi there.
I tried the way these folks suggested, by updating the BL using the zip file and flashing the updated TWRP recovery, and it worked!
What I did was, first of all, I took the backup using Titanium Backup and took a nandroid backup. Then I already had downloaded the files required, that is the BL zip file, the TWRP recovery, and the latest CM 13.0 build. Then I went to recovery > install and then located the BL and flashed it. Then I tried to flash the TWRP recovery but it didn't. Gave an error saying, "Unsuccessful" or something on those lines.
So I took that TWRP img file and copied it on my laptop. Then I went into the bootloader, which at first I thought was a bad idea since I just flashed the BL zip, then I flashed the new TWRP img file and went to recovery mode. And it had worked. So I flashed the CM 13.0 build too and then booted up the device, and it worked!
I guess that should help

return to 5.1 is possible?

Hello,
I would like to have installed the latest update, version 6, but the phone does not fit, and I would return to the old version that was perfect. from what I understand, you only need to download the original ROM, put it in the root, and install it manually?
Ideally all you need is the original firmware and any recovery - oneplus stock or twrp. Take the exact rom you want from the oneplus website download section and flash in recovery. Both recoveries will yield the same result no matter which rom you flash as long as it is stock

Just to be safe use old stock recovery you can fastboot flash twrp after.
Or simply follow this thread

Is there any latest stock boot img for Mi A3?

I accidently upgraded my phone to Android 10 11.0.14 ( prehaps ). I want to install TWRP on this phone, and I attempted to install it without flashing the boot img, and it caused to entirely be bricked and stuck on fastboot, and I did also attempt to change the slot, but ****** off. I tried using MiFlash, ****** off, reinstall, ****** off. I still kept my OnePlus rom and I succeed to install and normally use it, and it still remained TWRP. I installed the stock rom for it cuz Oxygen is so unstable, and I did, but the TWRP is lost. I reinstalled it, but it bricked, again. I entered TWRP, wipe all data, and enter again, but lost TWRP. I figured that I did miss flashing boot img, thanks to a thread I accidently read. And I also figured how stupid I was when I just did upgraded my phone to the latest version, and there is no boot img compatible to that version, and I did searched entire internet for it. I didnt try to flash the boot img of the early version cuz I am afraid it bricked again cuz of the compatibility. So when will I expect for a boot img file to flash TWRP and when can I download and use it? Or technically I dont need that boot img file and just simply change the slot and flash it? Ty.
try this boot img, its compatible with android 10 also twrp is already installed in the boot img.

Hang on. What do you mean by TWRP is already installed ? Does it mean that boot img file already contained TWRP or I do need to install it as a boot img to get the phone boot and work normally?
And btw, is installing SHRP Recovery an opinion or a must?

the boot img already contain twrp, and the boot img should be able to boot your rom (stock android 10) and no shrp is not a must you can use any recovery you like, but if you want to keep your recovery after installing a rom you have to install the recovery installer zip

Twrp... not working on android 10?

I tried the latest twrp from the official website, but to no avail
Anyway, i installed PE+ with their official recovery, but now i can't flash magisk or any module
I'm wondering if it can be done (twrp or orange fox) without having to lose all my rom data, as i am alredy settled with my current ROM
Ps: when i tried i flashed at partition be, i have no clue as to why i didn't want to boot to recovery even tho the installer said it actually said it was flashed
Thanks in advance

the latest official TWRP was released in June 2020. TWRP is not working for me as well after Mi update of Sept 2020.
Now if I install TWRP and boot into system via recovery, it takes me back to Fastboot. I was lucky to have a copy of Stock boot img. @Hugask
