I have ordered 2 redmi note 3 32 gb gold one from mi last month and 2nd from amazon 10 days ago.
1st phone showing white disply its ok but 2nd phone showing slightly yellowish disply..
anybody facing same problem?should i replace the phone? or its commen? See the images..
Have you tried disabling automatic contrast (i.e. setting contrast to "standard") on both phones and comparing again? The only other think I can think of is maybe there is more than one manufacturer for the screens and this might be normal?
mine also yellowish

There's another thread on the miui forums pretty identical to this. As the others have said, it's due to the display provider, none of your units is faulty. Most of us have the colder looking display. You can send back the other unit if it's really an issue for you.
Recently I replaced my screen and the new one had a terrible yellowish tint compared to the older one. It was like the phone was on night mode all the time and the white colours where more like yellow than white. I tried to mess with colours in kernel adiutor and by reducing the green value things got a little better, not like the old screen but colours where bearable. Today I took the decision to move from miui to cm and when I booted to twrp colours seemed very normal but I thought that maybe it was in my imagination. But after flashing and booting in cm I see now that colours are perfectly normal like my old screen. So I'm starting to think that the yellowish tint has more to do about miui's settings than the different screen models. Maybe whoever has that yellow tint could try to switch to cm and if the problem does not exitst any more it is definitely a miui problem.
How is the screen uniformity on your Note 8 (outside of Adaptive display) I avoided the S8/S8Plus due to the red tints that affected portions of the screen, Ive seen a total of 20 display units for the Note 8 and only 7 had good screens the rest had 'dirty' screens when the display mode was changed to Basic/Amoled Photo, its a combination if either partial red tints or yellowish tints on sections of the screens and the demo units were just installed.
I check the screen with Basic mode, brightness under 50%, fire up chrome and check in landscape, also i use the stock sms app in landscape and i check if its grey background is 100% even from left to right.
I am just curious if Samsung has upped the quality control or its still all about panel lottery ?
EDIT:
Im more interested on feedback that is using Amoled Photo or Basic, as Adaptive mode drowns the screen with a more blue.

My eyes are very sensitive to the red or yellow tints. In Samsung's case red.
My wife's and I note 8 doesn't seem too bad, some red tints around edges depending on veiwing angle but very acceptable.
Mines running basic model also

Adaptive mode here. Absolutely flawless, thankfully. My S8+ had tinted edges but that was fixed by the update they pushed out after adjusting the edges color. My Note8 is hands down the best screen I've ever seen.

When say edges is it on the curved edge or even on the flat part at the top ? as I've noticed most of the red tint is from the top part.
Im also very sensitive to this, other things I have accepted like the grey full screen uniformity on AMOLED is just terrible compared to LCD.
I was hoping that this issue would be fixed. I had an S3 with bad color uniformity issues. My Note 4 is darker along the left edge.
Can't stand the tinting issues that these seem to have. Also dislike brightness uniformity. A lot. I understand that each panel is different from the next, but what is it that causes these issues?
this is why
It's better than my previous note, which was a 4 but still the white isn't as white as some lcd panels out there. I didn't notice any uneven red tint on the N8 either for mine or the wife's. Tilting and viewing and looking out for it I see it a little around the curves of the screen, nothing that concerns me. But there is some red tint in there but not as bad as some note 4 or 3.
Good thing is , there is an adjustment that can be made in the display setting to reduce the red hue should you feel the need. I'm liking it as it is in Reading mode.
My ZTE Zmax whites look better.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
So to summarize, it's relatively uniform but I can still see a pink red crush/hue is present when white is being displayed. Using AMOLED adaptive reduces the red pink hue but looks like trash elsewhere.
So,yes it's still pink. Not much has changed since my Note 3 or 4 days. Then again those were pink or red in parts of the screen. Least the N8 is uniform pink.

I would also like to know the technical reason on whats causing it other than "manufacturing variance" and up until now samsung has not addressed such issues and some customers even struggle to have the devices exchanged.

No, I dont have the resolve to go through that exchanging bull**** anymore, too old for that. Ill either live with it, or send it back .
Last iphone I had owned was the the 3gs and 4s, yellow tint bull**** on those also.
I've had so many iDevices and Macs and never have I seen a screen that I'd even consider good, especially in the area of uniformity. Always darker on one side or the other. Always a bit more yellow here, than there. I've exchanged so many iDevices over the years because of screen issues. Every iPhone release is loaded with crap screens. At least according to all of the threads on various internet forums and groups. That is one of the reasons why I've never tried an iPhone.
FedEx lost my Note 8 and I might just say screw it and stick with the Note 4. My wife's Note 8 has the best screen that I've ever seen on any device with a screen. The brightness is completely uniform. I'd say that it does favor red a bit, but I'd hardly call it pink. Very nice screen.

Indeed, mines not pink like some of the S8 images posted. but there is some hue all over it especially as I normally run "basic" screen mode. Turned the red bar down a little and or use adaptive and makes it ice blue, I can live with it.
Another observation I noticed, if the screen is in Basic mode and I turn on Blue light filter setting, but turn down the bar for the filter to min, the slight pink hue on Basic mode goes away.
Can you adjust the colors independently in all modes or just adaptive display?
Just curious, isn't "warm" supposed be somewhat yellow color in tone ? It seems like when you make the screen warmer it goes pinker.

I have a professionally calibrated workstation display at my office. Whites look like paper and I adjust everything to mimic it.
I was able to get really close by adjusting in adaptive mode.
Problem is with our devices we take them everywhere and the environment changes dramatically, bright, dark, pitch dark, etc.
This plays tricks on our eyes big time! So what may look perfectly fine in one scenario may take on a very blue or very reddish hue in another.
You will drive yourself absolutely crazy trying to adjust all the time!
Like an EQ on a stereo, you adjust contour for flat response and leave it alone! (but most people constantly tweak it!)
Find a reference point and you will be good.
My panel is very consistent.
You want to see a bad display look at the Surface Pro! They may have decent color when calibrated but when the lights go out HOLY BACKLIGHT BLEED!
I am so done with LCD and just want AMOLED on everything NOW!

While what you're saying is generally accurate, that's not what people who have the red tint or purple tint are complaining about. I've seen many amoled screens from Samsung flagships that I consider defective due to extreme hues that can't be "adjusted" to normal. In addition, only adaptive mode can be adjusted, so when the screen is bad, you cannot use any other screen mode without the tint ruining the quality of the display.

I know this is not the place to discuss general issues with the phone but I signed up as these forums have the most and best discussions on the issues. I am on my 3rd Mate 20 Pro as the first two LG ones had the screen bleed issue.
Now I have a BOE screen but it looks absolute trash. It lacks brightness and contrast and has a pink tint towards the top and a green tint at the bottom when you view white pages. Also when I watch videos I get awful colour banding etc on gradients. Also I get odd tints etc whenever I look at the phone from almost any angle. I am so so so disappointed.
I'm just curious if anyone has a BOE screen that is as good as the original LG ones (minus screen bleed obviously) as I don't want to send this back if I'm going to get the same crappy screen back. I'm so frustrated and will never buy a Huawei product again.
I have a BOE Seems really great, nice vibrant colours, whites and Blacks are really good. Only issue I have is if you turn off the adaptive brightness the powergenie dims most Google and Facebook apps. But the last few days I have left the adaptive brightness on auto and it seems to not dim as much. I tend to push the brightness up a little bit though.
Something I have noticed, not related to the screen, is I occasionally hear a little click in the sound, I'm not sure what that is. Unless big brother is activating my microphone. ?

I must admit, I do notice the colour issue mostly in Chrome but it doesn't seem to be exclusive to it. Plus the colour banding issue is really bad on mine. For instance, at 1:28 on this video (https:// youtu.be/tO01J-M3g0U) the sky has awful banding and also an actual flickering. I guess I have a bad display. I just wonder if they will see it or just send it back. It's definetly there and anyone used to good screens would see it however my aging parents said there was nothing wrong with it so it isn't obvious to anyone not used to an OLED screen and I imagine they could easily say they see no issues. Ahhhh.
No issues with my BOE screen. If you secretly swapped it with a (good) LG I wouldn't notice.

Ooooooh interestingly that is exactly what mine looks like but reversed and guess what... Same build number. Did you get yours replaced with Huawei or a retailer?
Got my BOE 18B23, looks great - you might have a faulty one.
Looks like a faulty BOE screen...I examined mine obsessively within my 2 weeks return period and found no issues. It MIGHT be a bit less bright that LG, but I am comparing it with Youtube videos and Interweb pics, so it's a false call.
Happy so far.
Definitely looks like you have a defective BOE display. I got mine today (18B23) and it's great, at least compared to my old V30 it's much better.

I received a refund after an email to the Carphone Warehouse CEO. As the IMEI I had was from Huawei not CPW. The CPW have been absolutely fantastic to me.
I went yesterday hell bent on a pixel 3xl. But I was drawn toward the Mate 20 Pro. After much discussion with the manager I ended up walking out with a Mate 20 Pro, 18B26 and it absolutely perfect. It's what the phone should have been from the get go. Uniform, responsive, fast fingerprint scanner, sharp and vibrant.

I have EXACTLY the same problem as you. This is also my 3rd Mate 20 Pro. First was LG, with the green glow issue, that was visible only in dark room with brightness set to minimum and grey background (I am still mad why I returned it, because it was better than BOE) . My second device had a BOE screen with very very bad screen uniformity at low brightness. And now my third Mate has also BOE screen with the same problem as yours. Lower half of the display has a green tint and the upper half has a pink tint. I dont mind if the screen has a tint, because that can be "repaired" by tweaking color temperature. But this is super annoying. When you scroll on sites with white background you can see how it goes from green to pink tint. Otherwise screen is great and therefore I also have a concern about the next device that I might get as a replacement, as this is clearly a lottery now. I am probably going to wait until like a month and then try to get a replacement (I hope they will admit something is wrong with the display) . It is not really affecting the day-to-day usage of the device, it is just my eyes and heart is hurting when looking at the display. Maybe I am just too picky, but I expect from the device which costs 1k€ to be worthy of its price in every department, especially display.

This complete echos my device and my sentiments about the whole thing. For the money this device should not have the issues. It is a fact. This is my first Huawei device and I'm almost certain it will now be my last.
I also don't know which device I would buy, instead of Mate 20 Pro. Once you get used to this IR facial recognition, fingerprint scanner becomes almost useless. It works in every conditions and it's sometimes even too fast. I've been using Mate 9 for the last 2 years and it was super fast from the first to the last day. I got used to the EMUI, gestures are awesome! Oh, and I must not forget about the wide angle lens, it's great. I was thinking about the Note 9, the best display, performance wise also very good (not on pair with Kirin 980 though), camera also very good, fingerprint scanner on the back with facial recognition that is significantly slower and on top of that it's still Samsung, which means that it will get very slow in just a year from buying it (it's also almost 100€ more in my country). Another alternative is OnePlus 6T, display is good, performance it's excellent, software is the best right now, the cameras are on pair with the Note 9, but it lacks wireless charging, IP rating, facial recognition depends only on camera (it doesn't work in the dark) and I can't get it from my carrier. Mate 20 Pro is also the King when it comes to the battery life! So from my point of view, there are no real alternatives to the Mate 20 Pro and I really don't know what to do. Part of me wants to get a replacement ASAP (I am scared of that also), but the other part wants to get something else, because this is going nowhere.
I think a lot of the XDA reports about the LG screens being defective were phony and were made to create mischief and discourage people from buying this phone.
When the gluegate reports started coming in on XDA easily 70% were from XDA accounts that were new and were opened specifically to report supposedly defective screens. How could anybody not have found that suspicious?
The supposed screen bleed issue is a joke. People were comparing the folded OLED on the Mate 20 Pro with Samsung phone screens that don't have folded OLED displays. Obviously the results are going to be different because they are not the same kind of displays. It is 100% normal to have bleed on the edges with a folded OLED display and it is also normal for the edges of the display to look lighter when doing the "uniformity test" that people were told proved the displays were defective.
If you go into the display settings it takes less than 10 seconds to make it appear that your screen has "gone hulk" and take a screenshot.
I have a UK Mate 20 Pro that was preordered before launch. It has an LG display from the initial batch that multiple XDA members claim were 100% defective. The display looks great and is not defective in any way.
A few weeks ago I purchased a 256GB global version and planned to upgrade. But that phone had a BOE display that was very inferior to the LG one so I ended up returning it. The BOE screen had washed out colors and was noticibly less bright than the LG display which is the reason people don't see screen bleed at the edges. Pixel response was also slower than the LG display.
A lot of people who participated in a "screen lottery" and kept returning M20P phones until they got one with a BOE display ultimately found that those displays had inferior color and brightness to the LG display.
I'm pretty certain there was nothing wrong with the phone you returned. Unfortunately I have seen 3 M20P phones with BOE displays and all 3 had washed out colors compared to the LG display.
Hi, i just received my 9s. Luckily it didnt have screen bleeding but upon checking closely i noticed some shadow around the punchhole more prominently on the bottom. Its quite noticeable on a certain angle and in white background. Do you guys have it too? Pls state your lcd manufacturer too if you dont mind. I have tianma display if that helps. Thank you
Update: so i went to an Xiaomi outlet. I compared my 9s to the display unit 9s, the display unit doesnt have shadows around the notch and edge. The colors are very even, its near perfect. I did check the lcd manufacturer, its huaxing.
Yes, i have it too. The shadow is there. I usually use dark/black themes and this helps a lot because that shadow is not visible anymore. Also my panel is without screen bleeding too. Cheers!
I have a tianma display too and yes the shadow is quite visible on the camera punch hole but no bleading issues on the side screen. I think the bleeding issues is visible on huaxing display only.

Well got the replacement and it too has the same issues. I guess that's some cost cutting measure by Xiaomi. I wanted to ask you a different question. I found a glitch where when you rotate your screen to the left side there's a short black glitch for 0.5 sec. I've attached a ss. See if you have this issue?
Thanks

Hello!
I've read that there are two display manufacturers tianma and huaxing So which is the better one and how can I tell before buying the device?
From what ive read from a 9s/pro facebook group, most of the screen bleeding issues is with huaxing panel. I personally have tianma display, it has no bleeding and retention (as of now) but it does have some shadowing around the notch. And you cant tell what display you will have have unless you opened and checked it through engineering mode, its most likely a lottery really.
How exactly can I check which panel my phone have?
Checking the LCD manufacturer:
https://all-spares.com/en/articles-and-video/how-to-check-the-lcd-vendor-in-xiaomi-smartphones.html
...but Redmi Note 9 Pro is not showing the LCD manufacturer there.
I have huaxing panel with no issues. There's no bleeding even if I put my screen on black. But thanks for asking!
My phone has a huaxing screen too, and I have no issues.
Sometimes I have the feeling people are SEARCHING for something the can hate on a phone...

Better to know it beforehand than to cry about it later.
If only your display misbehaves, you'd feel the real pain of getting a faulty display of previous Redmi and Poco F1 owners :crying:
My Redmi Note 7 had Tianma panel and it was really bad... Keyboard with lag and a lot of screen retention/burn. Now my Redmi Note 9 Pro (max, 6/64, 64 megapixels) have Huaxing and that problems are not present, by the moment.
But in YouTube you can see many videos with redmi Note 9 pro speaking about burn ins, ghost touches, etc. Typical tianma disease. For now maybe not many (?) users get this problems, but how these screens behave over time? Is screen from Indian unit (9 pro) different then from global (9s)? I can see more Indians completing. And trust me, they don't complain without good reason
I have one week to decide either to buy this phone or not. I would really like to believe that everything will be fine etc, but I've almost lost the hope
