My rooted phone has been through Android 7->8->9->8->7->9, all stock. It's on stock PIE right now, and I want to try out an unofficial 10. I have all partitions backed up via TWRP. If things go wrong, or I change my mind, can I restore everything via TWRP with no compromises (with no performance, features, or whatever, degraded)? If not, can I reflash stock kdzs in any order or amount to get back to PIE with no compromises? Would my phone change irrevocably if I install an android 10 on my phone?

Hi, after about 19 months of using MIUI suddenly my phone can not detect or read SIM Card anymore!
IMEI is ok, but phone also reboots after turning On Bluetooth and trying to find devices. I think it is hardware.
I need get back to stock ROM, so I can claim phone on warranty.
My stock ROM was ICS Orange branded I9100BVLPB. (hotfile is down so I can't download it)
I've done root with fake recovery method (using temporal cwm-touch-6.0.1.2), I also did a backup with it.
After flashing MIUI my recovery is - CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4
I've noticed that backup from fake recovery is different from normal backups I've done after flashing MIUI, backup folder is very small (18MB) but there is a blobs folder, which is big (2GB).
Is it possible to restore this backup with my CWM 5.5.04??
What else can I do to return to stock ROM?
Please, help.
Will a restore of that backup work ? No idea. Try it and find out (I've always avoided stuff like 'fake backups' & used the real thing). As to where you can get a stock rom, try AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates. If they don't have what you need, you'll have to wait until Samfirmware have what you want back up (they're putting stuff up on Terra starting with more recent firmwares first, older stuff might be a while).
If you can't find what you need on those sites, use a different firmware for your carrier/country. Many people mistakenly believe when you send a phone in for a warranty claim it must have the firmware that was on the phone when you bought it installed. Not true (I mean, people do OTA updates from carriers, right ?).
Hi All,
Can I run this past you guys as I don't want to brick my phone...
I want to downgrade from B170 back to 121, I have installed a ZIP with a few Xperia things in it and its messed up a few things on the phones system partition, nothing critical the phone boots etc... its just my launcher isn't saving its settings, it has duplicated my ringtones with Xperia ringtones so I want to go back to 121 and then go back up to 170 with a clean ROM to try customising it again.
My plan was to put the stock recovery.img back in then use the MM downgrade ROM so that it does the getting to 95%, I will then run the 121 full ROM update.app, is this the correct thing to do to perform a downgrade?
Also, if I backup up boot.img, system.img etc... once I am on B170 I presume I can use these to recover my phone back if I mess around with the system and want to go back to factory without doing the above process every time? I want to try and create a custom ROM for the phone because EMUI is doing my head in with certain features
Thanks for your input
The method above worked without issue I have got back to stock 121 then upgraded back to 170 happy days!
Currently I have the official 151 update on my Honor 5x (l24). I have TWRP recovery and root. I uninstalled most of the pre-installed junk and google stuff and installed some of the apps I use.
I made a backup of this ROM in TWRP.
My question is, If I go about flashing other ROMS such as CM or Bliss, and once I am done testing and I want to go stock, can I recover my 151 ROM from TWRP? and it will be just as debloated and light as it is now? Will I lose TWRP.
What I am saying is that is there a way to save the image of this phone and come back to it later with all my apps and my settings?
I spent quite some time removing the apps and making the ROM light to my taste. I would hate to lose all that work. I just wanted to ask before I go Flash Happy!
The other day I was trying to help a friend by upgrading his Nexus 5 from MM 6.0.1, to a custom Nougat 7 Debloated ROM. After seeing so many Nougat ROM'S that had never been totally vetted, and may have bugs. I then decided to just do a factory or a custom MM 6.0.1. so I could root it since there are many custom MM.0.1 ROM's out there and most had been well vetted and the bugs worked out of them. Well after finding the ROM I wanted to use and putting twrp on the phone, I totally wasn't thinking, and see accidentally wiped the SD card and the image I was going to install. When I plug the phone into the computer, it doesn't show up under "My Computer", but adb can see it because I fastboot reboot the phone. I just need to know how I can get an ROM image back on the SD card so I can install the new ROM , and then root it. I already have the SU with needed Binaries and a special kernel in case I decide to do the stock image since the kernel the stock OS comes with won't work for rooting. I feel so stupid, I cant believe I did this, now I am in a bind, and i really need to get this phone working. I'm sure the solution is something simple, but as a intermediate phond dabbler I just don't know how I am going to get things to work.Thank you for your time, I appreciate any help I can get.
Hi guys hopefully someone can give some guidance on my issue.
I loaded a rom (pixel experience (android 10)) apart from stock for first time since I bought v30 about a year ago. Found it to be somewhat unstable, so went back to stock rom (android 9). Phone now boots to LG logo with startup tune, and just sits there on that screen for at least 1 minute longer than it did previously. Did a a complete wipe between flashes, went back to pixel experience to see if it went back to normal "boot speed", Phone bootup speeds went back to normal on that. Now back on stock again, and it's same thing with long boot time. Phone boots up fine eventually but it is quite painful to deal with now and regretting trying something different with zero payoff.
Any ideas?
Many have found flashing back to Nougat KDZ, then flashing to Pie KDZ (your bootloader will remain unlocked during both flashes), then re-installing TWRP, and re-rooting erases some of the changes you describe. See this post for reinstalling all that stuff, after you flash Nougat, then Pie KDZ.
INSTALL or REINSTALL TWRP on PIE stock KDZ with ALREADY-UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER

Can't guarantee it, but going back to Nougat temporarily flushes a lot of stuff out of the system.
Which variant do you have?

Yep, exactly this. After many hours yesterday of troubleshooting and trying different stuff, what I did in end was downgrade to first oreo release and OTA'd my way backup, all back to normal now.
Phew, glad it's not something I have to live with.
