Cross Development Between Redmi note 9 models. - Redmi Note 9S / Note 9 Pro (Indian Model) Question

Is it possible to have cross device development between all the 3 models of redmi note 9 (joyeuse, curtana and excalibur). I am asking this because for one plus 3 and 3t there were roms that supported both the models, even though the chipsets were different. But in the case of these models the only difference is that they have differnt camera sensors and fast charging capability. So could anyone say if its possible or if they are working on this?

Different sections for Redmi Note 3 (Mediatek) and Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon)

It probably would solve a lot of headaches in the future if the Redmi Note 3 with a Mediatek processor and the Redmi Note 3 Pro with a Snapdragon processor had each their own sections in the forum. The Pro has only recently been out and people are already asking in the different posts if the rom or advice works for the Mediatek or for the Snapdragon version. And since both SoC's are so different the ROM's will not be compatible, so I do not see the point of keeping them together other than to enjoy seeing the users confused.
Yeah i too agree. Even on miui website we dont have a separate thread
Agree MTK and SD have totally different ROMs

I Fully Agree.
MTK and SD have totally different ROMs
there has been lot of confusion for REDMI Note 3G and 4G(Dior)
a sharma
sharing is power
Agree, please add a seperated section
This must be addressed before further development
I agree, with some devices it doesn't matter much but the difference between the two chipsets is too big to have them in one section.
I'm agree too!
I second this opinion.
Iam agree with you
I'm agree too!
Does any one have solution to double tap screen wake up
I agree with the OP!
Will any moderator will listen to our request here?
we just recently got a section for redmi note 3 and i´m happy about it.most post are tagged by mediatek or PRO SD are sufficient to make difrence between them
At least two different sections like android one devices .... Like redmi note 3 mediatek and snapdragon so that we can directly search all related ROMs kernels easily
As the kernel source has been released, there will be more development works going around so its a request please provide separate forum for redmi note 3 snapdragon
Don't think it's going to happen, I guess the SD version will have more users, so I guess only those users will be more active

I'm agree too.
@admin please look into this matter.
please separate redmi note 3(Mediatek) and redmi note 3 pro (snapdragon ) with two differect sections.

Not promising anything but send me a PM detailing the scale of the problem.
Are users not labelling their ROMs properly to distinguish the two? If so give me some links.
Give me links to any problems that have arisen from any confsion that is around.

Difference between Xiaomi phones

Hello everyone. I got a question about different xiaomi phones. So i am looking for new phone and at this moment the most impressive phones out there is xiaomi. Can you tell me please which one of these are the fastest with the best specifications not only on "paper" but when holding in hand as well. What i mean by that is some phones have pretty nice camera and cpu/gpu specs on paper but the camera in reality doesnt work so well and they are slow as hell after few months usage.
So i am looking into a phone under 300$:
Xiaomi mi4 (there is a lot of them, not sure which one is the best)
Xiaomi redmi note 3
Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro
If you got any other suggestion of the phones under 300$ feel free to post. Also do you know any legit sellers who sell in europe? thanks
get the Note 3 pro i.e. snapdragon variant, its the best of the lot that you have mentioned.
The difference between all those different models, if you ignore all their difference names (MI4, Redmi, Redmi Note, Redmi Note Pro, etc...) are the chipsets that are in use.
The MI4 phones run on SD80X chipsets, like SD800 (original MI4) and SD808 for the MI4S.
The Redmi series in general tries to be budget wherever possible, so most of them run on Mediatek (crap) chipsets, except for the indian / international variants of the series, as Xiaomi has been hit with a Mediatek chipset ban in india, forcing them to go with the slightly more expensive (but way better) Snapdragon mid-end chipsets.
Which brings us to the so called "Pro" variants of the Redmi series, those are essentially the indian / international market variants I've talked about.
Summed up they run on whatever the current mid-end Snapdragon chipset is, which makes the current iteration (Redmi Note 3 Pro) run on a SD650.
Performance wise, the SD820 is the king of the hill right now (MI5), directly followed by the SD650 and right behind it the SD810 and behind that the SD808.
So if you want the best bang for your buck, the Redmi Note 3 Pro is currently your best bet in raw performance and battery runtime.
For me there were 3 important things before I bought my first xiaomi phone a week ago. Sdcard slot, good specs and a low price.
Many xiaomi phones don't have a sdcard slot, so take a look on that. Redmi note 3 pro does have one.
2nd thing is the mediatek processor. I somehow don't trust them yet and since I wanted something more powerful than my old z2 I saw this nice benchmark in antutu of snapdragon 650 which convinced me.
One important thing before you buy any miui device. I recommend you to buy a pretty new one, at least one that comes with lollipop (updates may never come) and with 3gb of ram. 2gb of ram is really not much for a miui rom.
I bought my phone from xiaomiforsale, 5 days delivery (to Poland from Czech).

Thank you all for your opinion, going to order an redmi note 3 pro by the end of the week
I'm looking forward to buy redmi note 3 pro has a great performance and longer battry i recommended it

Help choosing Redmi Note 4 or 4x from Aliexpress

Hey,
I'm about to order Redmi Note 4 or 4x, but I'm not sure which one. I live in Croatia and I don't know any better site. Maybe GearBest or GeekBuying but I don't know, recommendations welcomed
Here are 2 devices I was looking
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dre...n-625-Mobile-Phone-4100mAh-5/32797414678.html
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Glo...Snapdragon-Octa-Core-5-5-FHD/32796560515.html
I'm looking to buy black one, and I was trying to find 4gb/64gb model (SD625), but black color is not available.
Which one should I get?
Sorry if this is duplicated thread,
Best regards

The 4x has fast charging and comes with a snapdragon 625 processor. The note 4 has no fast charging and comes in 2 different processor options. The faster mediateck processor and snapdragon 625. The 4x is cheaper because it comes with a slower processor. Antutu benchmark has 60,000 for the snapdragon and 80,000 with the mediateck processor. Also there are different global versions with different bands that will work for your country. Go to willmyphonework.net to check compatibility. There are other sites you can try to buy from geekbuying.com and AliExpress.com. Also you can see the different variants on kimovil.com. this site will also tell you prices benchmark scores and a lot more.
Nonsens 4x and 4 are the same.
4X may got diffrent camera sensor.
And its not support fast charging.
And is a Snap Dragon 625.
Get original Redmi Note 4 only.
I also think I have read that they are the same, and only difference is that LTE band or something?
I'm only looking for SD processor because it has more custom roms if I'm not wrong. And I've read that some people have problem with flashing roms on 4x or something
And yeah, I think its Snapdragon 625, not 652
There are 3 different versions of the Redmi Note 4:
1) Redmi Note 4 with Deca-Core Helio X20
2) Redmi Note 4 with Snapdragon 625
3) Redmi Note 4X with Snapdragon 625
Option (2) is imho the "best" of them all as it has not only the better battery compared to its brother (option (1)) but also has more bands (at least LTE Band 20, I think also Band 8 and Band 4 is a difference; you miss out on Bands 39 and 41) than it's cousin (option (3)).
I purchased myself option (2) and am hoping it will arrive soon. Of interesting observation is that (1) and (2) share the same root of name (being "Redmi Note 4") but option (2) is sometimes called "Redmi Note 4 Global Edition" or "Redmi Note 4 International Edition). But some sellers use that name as well for option (3) so please be extra mindful when selecting the option. What is more curious is that (2) and (3) seem to share the EXACT same dimensions and hole-setup, so when looking for a case you may be better off searching for Redmi Note 4X compatible ones as the IR-blaster share the same location amongst both.
As it seems the 64GB version seems to only be available in White+Gold as of now but I decided to not care and if I should care too much exchange the back of the phone for a silver coloured one. Obviously that voids the warranty, but I think international warranty repairs will become more expensive than a new phone will cost. I believe the back from option (3) should fit but I give no guarantee on that as I have had neither phone in my hand nor disassembled either and tested it out.
Further, no devices seem to support quick charging and I would not worry too much about it. The battery is quite large and using the SD version one should have quite a power efficient SoC.
The camera sensor seems to be largely based on Samsung's ISOCell technology these days, so no love from Sony IMX. I hope that noone gets the OmniVision version in here---they are said to be the worst.

Thank You very much for detailed description. I think I've read somewhere that 4x SD version has Sony camera sensor, but I can't confirm that.
Then I'll go for that Redmi Note 4, thank You so much for your really good review and observations, I really appreciate it.
And yeah, lets hope for no OmniVision

Cheers,
the 3 sensors are not only restricted to the Redmi Note 4 Global Edition but also the 4X apparently. Best of luck on the sensor for you in any case.
Regarding LTE: Check with your local provider and the general setup of countries you plan to visit for best coverage information. This may change in the future but unlikely for larger changes as 4G is the de-facto standard right now and mature enough to have settled mostly.
There are several Redmi Note 4:
1. RN 4 (mediatek)
2.RN 4 (normal, sd 625) (ex. Indian Version)
3.RN 4 GLOBAL (sd 625, has LTE Band 20 - sometimes very useful depending on wich country) - Croatia you need this for some operators
Please do check this article on wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe , apparently in Croatia you need LTE B3 and B20 - hence get the RN 4 GLOBAL
4. RN 4X (sd 625, identical to normal version but with more Lte band only for China, also has BlueTooth 4.2 wheres all the other versions have 4.1)
As of camera sensor, it is like a lottery, you either get the Sony IMX258 or the Samsung S5K3L8. Please note that another NEW version of the phone is recently introduced to the market - RN 4X 3/16GB (please note the 3gb of Ram and 16 (sixteen) GB Rom) - DON'T get this one - it has a new Camera Sensor - Omnivision (chinese!). Imho both Sony and Samsung sensors are somewhat on par, but have been reports where the Omnivision senor has had problems.
If you need more info quote or PM me.
EDIT;
from the link you provided i suggest the second one because it clearly indicates the presence of B20 in the description: https://it.aliexpress.com/item/Glob...Snapdragon-Octa-Core-5-5-FHD/32796560515.html

It's the same phone. It simply has different names in different countries. Just make sure it's the Snapdragon version.
Depending on where you live, you may want to buy the Global version of the phone which supports more LTE bands (like band 20 in Europe).
But to be honest with you, I wouldn't buy the Note 4X anymore.
The Note 5/Note 5 Pro is already out.
The MI A1 ist basically a Note 4X with pure Android instead of MIUI and dual camera.
The Redmi 5/Redmi 5 Plus is basically a Note 4X with a 18:9 display instead of 16:9.
The new Mi 6X came out recently with a better CPU, dual cameras and MIUI.
The MI A2 (the same phone as Mi 6X but with pure Android instead of MIUI) will be announced soon.
So all roms and kernels of snapdragon will be compatible to both 4 and 4x as long its snapdragon? Thank you for the suggestions. I'll look for redmi note 5 pro

Correct.

You need to buy the phone with Snapdragon 625. Depending where you life, it's called either Redmi Note 4X or Redmi Note 4 Global Edition.
Just make sure that you buy the phone with Snapdragon and not MTK (MediaTek) processor

That is good to know, However there is one thing I would like too add:
Xiaomi is very bad in the development scene, they do not provide kernel source and devices trees for developers to build custom roms or kernels, and currently the Redmi Note 4 has both, while new devices probably don't.
If you care about custom roms/kernels ( and everyone here at XDA probably do) check the device respective development threads before purchasing the device to see if there is any activity.
Since basically in my opinion MIUI is a version mess.
Check for the processor. Don't buy the Note with mediatek chipset.

Xiaomi MI series vs. Xiaomi REDMI series = which line is better?

Xiaomi MI series vs. Xiaomi REDMI series = which line is better?
Everybody knows that Mi series goal is to be better than Redmi at least in specs and performance.
But how about performance to price ratio, how about all other things that You dont worry and dont expect in REDMI casue it's cheap but You do expect it in the MI series?
What are the problems/things that You don't like in MI series?
What are the problems/things that You don't like in REDMI series if there is any? WHY? Cause we all know not to expect wonders for a low budget priced phones.
I've talked to many people who had/have REDMI and MI series Xiaomi phones (clients, selllers, internet folks, friends) and they only agree on ONE thing -the price is great wheter it is REMI or MI phone.
A strange thing happens.... REDMI owners are always satisfied. The only thing that bothers not all of them is the camera quality.
But in low and middle price segment REDMI beats EVERY other BRAND.
Xiaomi has also great prices in the high end flagship models but here MANY PEOPLE are dissapointed.
For example camera quality, screen quiality, body, bezel, bugs, no NFC, no european B20 LTE band.
The MI users also tell me that non of the above bothers them but something totaly different. EACH person = an original problem with MI device.
Can You please tell me what are Your problems/dislikes with MI and REDMI devices cause I'm about to buy one from each segment?
What should I worry about (Android updates maybe?) buying a REDMI and a MI phone IN YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIANCE?
The biggest difference besides hardware is updates. Redmi devices usually only get one major update for example the note 4x was released with 6.0 and then got 7.0 but will never officially see anything higher. Although I don't find that a big issue because MIUI rom gets security updates and features from higher android version added. Also most devices get updated MIUI versions for example note 4x released with MIUI 8 then got 9 and now 10 is slowly becoming available. Also wifi hardware is subpar on redmi devices. Again I will use the note 4x for example. It does not have 802.11ac and using 802.11n you are capped at 150MB/s and 2.4 ghz band doesn't do 2 channel bonding unless you have root and edit the proper files.
Camera quality I can't really say much about. I am not a big picture taker and what I do take seems fine.
If you are concerned about radio bands then there really is only one choice. The MI Mix has pretty much every band you could ever want.

So REDMI get less Android uprades than MI series.
The LTE bands are slowly beginning to be a no issue as more and more devices get the whole Global LTE bands.
Redmi's or hongmi's are the low to mid-range smartphones and the MI's are the mid to high-range smartphones and flagships..
So go with the Mi's but phones like the Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5 Pro, the New Redmi 6 series and the old Redmi Note 4(Qualcomm) arent bad either.
Phones you got to avoid are the Redmi Y2/S2 due to terrible software decisions(it runs a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit CPU! like the old Redmi 2 series) and if you wanna develop for a device, avoid the Redmi Note 3(Qualcomm) due to the community being a little meh.

I've heard the exact same thing form a reliable source so it must be true what you're telling me about MI and REDMI in general.
Redmi Y2/S2 terrible software(?! software!?) specs is new to me.
It is disturbing tho causue Redmi S2 is a good phone on paper (perfANDstuff/price ratio) yet You tell me to watch out. This is bad.
Also Redmi Note 5 has probably (heard rumors) some issues, the most recurring one is with the camera mode - unfortunatly one user delivered the XDA community an info stating that it might not be a soft issue but a hardware issue (same error happens on stock and on custom rom).

It is new but due its software being 32-bit, you are not using it in full potential
Still you can build 64-bit LineageOS or port 64-bit MIUI from Redmi 6 Pro
