Hi guys,
I just bought a Chinese version of the X820 and I was wondering how do I move from China to Indian firmware? Do I do it via the updater and download the Indian firmware and renaming it to update.zip? (Not rooted)
and another question, which is better, Chinese or Indian version?
Thanks.
Yes, you can. I have flashed rom 16S X821 India for my mobile. Everything is ok.
Thanks. Which is better for you?
Hi, wanted to tell you that I moved from the chinese to the indian to the us version, didn't use the indian one, but between the us and chinese, the us is better as it doesnt have as much bloatware (for the rest is pretty much the same)
I had problems setting up the APN for my data on the Indian version tho. The China one was fine. Is saving APN working fine on the US version?
I didn't have to do anything after flashing the US one, so I would say that it just works.
Do all LTE bands sill work, whichever firmware you use?
Don't know about all of them, I'm currently in Asia, and this this had originally the Chinese version, flashed the us and still get 4g in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.
I'm inclined to think that they do work no matter the ROM.
Btw, I was trying to go from Chinese 14s to US 16s and it got stucked in a boot loop, so I flashed again the Chinese, then went to the Indian one, I think 15s, and then the US one, it worked without an issue that way.
Now i'm using CN 16S. I have a problem with 4G+/LTE-A in Malaysia.
When it switch to 4G+ coverage, all phone signal include data and call will lost (Can't use at all)
No toggle switch to turn off 4G+ only, but able set preference to 3G to run without signal drop (Only HSPDA)
Now my containment solution of this is :-
In Malaysia, telco using CA for Band 3 and 7 for 4G+. The coverage for Band 3 is higher than band 7. So i disable the Band 7 to stop the phone switch to 4G+, I still able to enjoy the 4G of Band 3, rather than only set to 3G (HSPDA)
Anyone with better solution, please let me know. Thanks
Hey, I'm from Malaysia too. Had the same issue. You got to make a new APN. Eventho it looks like an APN has already been set, it still won't work. I find my LTE to be working again after I set a new APN.
I have an LG G5 which I Network unlocked as it originally came from the EE network and wanted to use it on the Three network.
One problem with this is that I can not use VOLTE as there is no setting available, and have been informed i would need a mobile purchased directly from Three.
Just checked for updates and it would seem Android 7.1.2 has arrived and is available for download.
Now I am using this phone on the Three network, will I receive a Three version of the software enabling the VOLTE? or will it be another EE firmware?
Many thanks
Simon

The phones models are different, you will only get the OTA's from it's origin service.
i found a seller in chennai (india) who sells Snapdragon 845 editon of the galaxy s9 plus my main concerns are as follows
1. will it work without the 5 minute phone call required initially?
2. will it support volte (jio) in india without changing the firmware?
3. are indian bands supported especially for airtel and jio?
4. will warranty be covered in india?
5. will there be any issues that i should be concerned about?
thanks in advance

1. Yes
2. No. Jio VoLTE will NOT work.
3. Bands may be supported, but if there is 4G+ (LTE-A) in India, that may not work. And if you use a Jio SIM, only data will work, no voice calls due to lack of VoLTE.
4. No it won't.
5. Aside from the fact that VoLTE / LTE-A will not work on any network. Not really.
Regarding the band compatibility;
The S9+ USA model supports the following LTE bands (source: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s9+-8967.php)
LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 14(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 28(700), 29(700), 30(2300), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500), 46, 66(1700/2100), 71(600) - USA
India LTE bands (source: https://m.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=India)
LTE 850 (5), LTE 1800 (3), LTE 2100 (1), LTE 2300 (40), LTE 2500 (41)
So you should be fine regarding LTE compatibility (not sure about VoLTE and LTE-A).
Regarding warranty only the local Samsung customer service will be able to answer this 100% accurate (most likely no warranty).

As far as i know
1. No. You need to insert a country specific sim to activate/unlock the device.
2. No.
3. Yes. But in the first place you need to unlock the device which is not possible.
4. No.
5. You cannot root the device because bootloader is locked in snapdragon version and No carrier aggregation(LTE-A) support because the ca combinations are country/CSC specific.
Hi,
I have US bought tmobile unlocked s9+ device..JIO VOLTE doesnt work .. is it not fixable at all ?
Or is there a way out ?
Thanks
Bharat
M too facing same issue.
I researched a lot in last 2weeks on same but of no luck, found our that regarding volte the issue arising in many countries,
Small positive info got day before yesterday in s8forums Tgey said it was due to CSC in the firmware . And now a days all firmwares are multi CSC loaded, but since we used the phone in usa CSC from there was loaded, so I order load indian CNC we have to do the below.
if they just activated the phone after hard reset using indian sim they were able to use usa version with jio.. But I tried that too in vain no luck for us.
You may try above but.. you may lose data.. advise smart switch feature to sd card... if willing to do hard reset.
Please update if any luck
You may find ref link https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/how-to-install-indian-firmware-csc-inu-t3624953
I have not played with these before ..like installing firmware and all..mine is SM G965U model .. not sure the method mentioned would work ! 965F us international model ? And tweaks to this model only work not US models ?
I checked with Samsung too.. they said its country specific .. i dont know whether to try this method or leave as it is !!
Thanks
Even I got stuck over us CSC, and all samsung pay rewards which were only for us citizens..
Mine is G965U1, VOLTE doesnt work in india.
Since snapdragon not yet unlocked I had no options for VOLTE.. even If I do I may have to let go the Spay...
My advise don't Buy.. during deals we almost get similar rate e commerce sites in india...
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
Hey,
I am facing a similar issue. I got a unlocked USA S9 SM-G960U1.
I am using it in India but VOLTE does not work.
I am looking for a workaround. Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance
I have a S9+ snapdragon from T-mobile. Recently visited India. Jio volte does not work which was expected. But Airtel had bad reception and the internet would not work even intermittently when the 4g symbol was in display. However, in the same location, side by side, another airtel number on moto g worked flawlessly.
Even though the S9+ specifications shows all the network bands supported by Airtel, i did not expect to face the above problem. I am planning to sell the phone in the USA and buy a oneplus from India.
[SOLVED] use JIO SIM card on S9+ US Version in India
I purchased an S9+ ATT in December 2018, tried to use JIO SIM in India but no luck , then I wanted to get rid of ATT logo, which comes up every time I reboot my device. Did some research then and came across this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/how-to-flash-u1-firmware-to-device-t3765200.
Was able successfully flash my device to US Unlocked version from ATT version 4 months ago , now I can see VoLTE toggle. Again tried to use JIO SIM , didn't work . Since then my device gets regular OTA updates .
AIRTEL network in my area sucks, Now 09/2019 again I tired to use JIO SIM and it works flawlessly.
HELLO I HAVE GALAXY S9+ U.S. VERSION. my jio sim is not allowing voice calls, and messages in this . Can anyone transform the trouble shoot method please
Like wise it is not working apple ( us version) 6 too
please

download the firmware for your carrier from www.sammobile.com/firmwares and flash it via Odin. If its the same android version, br sure to use the HOME_CSC file when flashing vs the normal CSC file to avoid an unnecessary factory reset. Flashing the HOME_CSC vs the CSC will allow you to keep all your stuff on your phone, CSC will factory reset it.

voLTE wont work unless you flash the CSC for your carrier on the device. voLTE is a carrier specific thing and requires the carrier specifc software to be installed which happens when the correct CSC file is on the device and the corresponding sim is entered

Hi
received my Mate 20 Pro 256GB Dual Sim from Trading Shenzen.
So far great device, but missing Wifi calling.
There is no option to activate in settings.
My phone details:
Modell: LYA-AL10
Build Nummer: 9.0.0.161(C00E155R1P20) GPU Turbo
So maybe i had to switch to another firmware.
Wondering in hiSuite: Got information there that i have the newest Developer Version?
So can some assist / help to get wifi calling?
Or is it possible to flash LYA-L29 to this device?
thanks
I've never had WiFi Calling on any Huawei phones running EMUI or Xiaomi phones running MIUI but I am in the United States. MIUI doesn't have any option for WiFi Calling but maybe EMUI does depending on region.
You have the Chinese hardware version so I don't think you will be able to flash any international firmware on it but your best bet to find out would be to contact FunkyHuawei.
In case you haven't heard of them FunkyHuawei is a paid service many Huawei owners use to flash firmware updates, rebrand their phones to different regions, obtain bootloader unlock codes, etc.
I'm not personally endorsing the service (although I have used it) but the person who runs FunkyHuawei would probably be in the best position to answer your question since he reverse engineers the software on Huawei phones and owns Chinese and international variants of the Mate 20 Pro.
Can’t go from China to Non-China
Hi I have the same problems (want to move from Chinese LYA-AL10 to a non-Chinese version such as LYA-L29 for instance).
I ask FunkyHuawei and they replied to me «*cannot go from China to Non-China*»
If someone still manage to do it, please let us know !
Cheers
I have the lya variant I picked up in Malaysia on vacation. WiFi calling does not work with my T-Mobile (US) SIM card. However it does work when I had a Malaysian Sim card in it. The option would show up in the sim settings. From what I read WiFi calling does not work outside of Asia.

It does work outside APAC...I'm in Canada and while my provider (Videotron) has NOT enabled VoLTE and VoWIFI for this phone, I borrowed a Rogers (other CDN provider) SIM and VoLTE and VoWIFI were available. The provider has to enable these features for a particular phone.
History:
Recently purchased a S23 Ultra (SM-S918U1) from Samsung USA. Downloaded and flashed the appropriate software for Samsung Canada (SM-S918W) using Patched Odin (3.14.1_3B). CSC, as expected, now reads TLS/TLS,TLS/XAA.
Network mode is set to 5G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM.
Problem:
I have strong signal in my area, 5G, but during phone calls, my signal drops from 5G to 3G (WCDMA) as opposed to the expected LTE+/LTE (4G or 4G+ for anyone outside of North America).
I have changed to a new SIM card and am able to reproduce the issue on my S22 Ultra.
I'm beginning to think it is a carrier issue, Telus, and have escalated to appropriate support tier for a callback.
Is anything else I should be looking for in-between? Specific flashing techniques or tools?
Thanks!
if you dont have VoLTE enabled then your signal goes to 3g during phone calls, its how the network works.

I greatly appreciate your help! I knew it would be something simple.
Enabling VoLTE is no longer available with this Canadian CSC (Telus/TLS).
I tested two devices; my S22 Ultra and Z Flip 4; the Z Flip 4 was purchased directly from Telus Canada, while the S22 Ultra was purchased from Samsung USA.
Following a factory reset and reboot, the Z Flip 4 automatically registers for IMS/VoLTE.
The same cannot be said for the S22 Ultra when running TLS. I see an option to enable 'VoLTE' if I switch back to XAA from XAC, but it doesn't do anything.
It appears the carrier may blacklist non-Telus purchased devices based on specific criteria (e.g., IMEI, serial number, etc).
This was not the case before 2021.
It is a carrier issue. Bell/Telus blocking VoLTE and WiFi Calling on non-Canadian devices that are not sold by Bell/Telus. If you put a Rogers SIM in your device, everything will work because Rogers is not limiting devices by IMEI and model number where Bell/Telus are!
File a CCTS complaint. The more they get. The hope that something will be done about it. They will also block your device from roaming on to US carriers and block 911 access as well. I get a text every month from Telus saying, "
TELUS Message: Hi J********, as you may be aware, carriers in the U.S. stopped supporting mobile devices on 3G networks.
You’re currently using a 3G phone that connects to 3G networks and the next time you roam in the U.S., you will no longer be able to use data, text or make phone calls - including 911.
To stay connected in the U.S., you need to replace your phone with an LTE or 5G capable phone.
Learn more about the 3G network turndown in the U.S. at https://sms.telus.com/a519646aed"
I purchased mine from T-Mobile USA and use it with my T-Mobile SIM and Telus eSIM. I am on the U1 firmware.
Just call the Telus, telling them you brought a S23u from Samsung Canada. The model is S23 Ultra or SM-S918W. They will "apply the IMS registration profile" to enable the VoLTE and WifiCalling. That's how I did on my S918B. You don't need to change the CSC at all.
Thank you all for your excellent responses. I appreciate your help.
Telus' advanced support confirmed that non-Canadian Samsung devices are being blocked
Telus requests IMEIs from Samsung and registers IMS (VoLTE/WiFi Calling) if it matches the corresponding devices.
Google and Apple are the only exceptions. These criteria do not apply to them.
The next stop for me is the CRTC. If this concerns you as a resident of Canada, more information can be found here:

This is actually what I was planning to do but before I could ask, they, the Telus Rep., had already identified it as non-Telus device.

CRTC won't do anything, neither will CCTS. They claim networks can do this for the "safety" of their network. Only Rogers allows US devices to use VoLTE for some reason.
I went through this last year.

Won't last sorry. If your IMEI isn't on the whitelist it will be eventually kicked off the profile.
