Fingerprint does not work - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

I use MIUI12 from EUROM.
Fingerprint cannot be used.
I can register your fingerprint but you cannot unlock it.
I tried the CTI menu FOD fingerprint input test.
I was able to register, but after that, I couldn't authenticate four times in a row and failed.
How can I fix it?

persist.img maybe?
Did you miflash a stock ROM and relock?
Try that.

Thank you for your reply
I am currently using euROM.
Can you flash the stock ROM?
How can I do the following?
Local Update method:
Transfer the download .zip file to your phone, and ensure you place the file in the “downloaded_rom” folder in the internal storage of your device. If no such folder exists, create one in your internal storage base directory.
Within your phone, navigate to Settings > About Phone > System Update, and then press the three-dot icon in the top-right corner, and select “Choose Update Package”.
If the “Choose Update Package” option is missing, tap on the MIUI logo 10 times to activate the option.
Choose the downloaded .zip file.
Wait for the update to install.

https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/umi/
Download whichever.
Put your phone into fastboot mode.
Download miflash and flash via PC.
I would choose clean and lock .bat.

[Q] How to root Moto E (updated to 4.4.4) ?

I have a Motorola Moto E(XT1022). I bought it recently and just when I first started it, I got the 4.4.4 kitkat update and so I downloaded it right away. Then I realised one of the biggest problems of Moto E i.e. 2.2 gb storage. So i dug into find how to install apps on sd card and got to know that you have to root the phone. On xda, I found various ways to root but they were only for the 4.4.2 version of the phone and others were update to 4.4.4 on aldready rooted devices. Please tell me the way to root my device. Also as I am new to this, I dont understand any words like bootloader, fast recovery, etc. Please help me. Thank you in advance.
Edit: Can I use the way given by deej_roamer in his post here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2755336
Edit: I am sorry to have posted this in the general section. I don't know how to move it now to the questions section. Sorry again.
Thank You DAVI FELICANO and deej_roamer for their help. I have now successfully rooted my phone. If someone else has a problem, go to Page 2 for the solution.
You can use the defalt method, dont need to change anything.
Who told you that you need root to move apps to sd card?
Once you insert sd card you will get an option in settings/apps to move apps to sd card for those that can be moved.
This is though limited to Apks only and data is still kept in internal sd card.
If this option is not enough for you then you can go the advanced wag by rooting and using gl2sd or link2sd like apps.

You mean I can just follow the way to root if my device would have been running 4.4.2 kitkat (and as suggested by deej_roamer in his post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755336 )
Thank you.

You can install only one game due to it's low internal memory. By one game I mean high graphics game. The obb file remains in the internal storage even after moving to SD card. I tried many things like making SD card default storage using SDK tools but to no Vail. Guess the only way now is to root it & use apps like gl2sd

I followed the thread by deej_roamer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755336
Try out my steps:
[Your phone battery must be at least 75%]
1. First download "Fastboot" from the thread. (Click on the "mfastboot-v2" link in the thread)
2. Next install it in a folder and remember that folder. Also, make sure you select the option of "Create shortcut on Desktop" during installation.
3. Next download CWM recovery from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/root-moto-e-rooting-flashing-recovery-t2802971 (Click on the "CWM 6.0.4.9 recovery For MOTO E" link in the thread)
4. Copy the "cwm6.0.4.9_recover.img" file to the installation folder of fastboot.
5. Next download SuperSU v2.02 from here - http://download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip (Click on "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip" link)
6. Don't Extract Supersu zip file.
7. Connect phone to pc. Copy the zip file to your internal memory(the directory of int. memory is /sdcard) (The directory for ext. sd card is /storage/sdcard1).
8. Remove your phone from your pc.
9. Switch off your device.
10. Turn on your device by holding power off button and volume down button together for 6-7 seconds. Quickly connect your phone to your pc.
11. The bootloader must be showing usb connected.
12. Run fastboot from your desktop.
13. Now type this (without quotes) - "fastboot flash recovery cwm6.0.4.9_recovery.img"
14. Look at the screen of device. It must be showing "Mismatched partition size (recovery)". It is normal don't worry.
15. Press volume down once (recovery will be selected) and then volume up so that it goes into recovery.
16. It will show the bootloader unlocked warning. Don't worry about it.
17. Your phone should now be in CWM recovery.
18. Don't do anything except what I tell you.
19. In this menu movement is done by the volume rockers ans selection by power button.
20. Press volume down so that "install zip" is selected.
21. Press power button.
22. Select "choose zip from /sdcard". Press power button.
23. Find the SuperSU.zip file(It will probably be in the "0/" folder)
24. It will ask to confirm install. Select Yes.
25. SuperSU will be installed.
26. Select CWM reboot. When you select CWM reboot, it will display "root access possibly lost - Fix?". PLEASE Select "No".
27. Your phone will now reboot. (The bootloader unlocked warning will be shown and then the boot animation).
28. Open your menu(in the phone) and find SuperSu app (a # symbol will be there in its icon).
29. Disconnect your device from the pc.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE A ROOTED MOTO E.
If you ever wish to flash any other recovery (like twrp),
1. Copy the file to the fastboot installation folder in your pc.
2. Then reboot your device into bootloader and quickly connect it to your pc.
3. Run fastboot from your desktop and then type the following without quotes: "fastboot flash recovery cwm6.0.4.9_recovery.img"
4. Instead of writing "cwm6.0.4.9_recovery.img" write the complete file name including extension. For eg. if file name is "twrp_recovery_2" and has extension ".img" then write "fastboot flash recovery twrp_recovery_2.img"
I hope that this solved your problem brother.

Rollback to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 (PLK-AL10)

Hi guys
The official OTA update (B380) with Andoid 6 and Emui 4.0.1 arrived on my PLK-AL10 around a week ago and I was very disappointed when I saw the "privacy protection" feature is not there anymore. This feature allowed me to create "visitor" account and the visitor could not see all the apps and albums.
Now I installed B395 hoping the feature included but it is still not.
I would like to revert to the previous system (as I remember it was B320) or any working version with Android 5 and EMUI 3.1.
I tried to install all the rollback files I found on the net but all stopped after a few percentages with the error message "software install failed".
Pls help me, what can I do?
You can root your device and add a couple of lines in /system/build.prop to get back the multiuser mode.

Hi again,
Finally I managed to edit my build.prop and got "users" option. The problem is that is is not the same function as "Privacy protection" was in android 5. Privacy protection left the icon layout untouched, it was just possible to hide albums and applications.
Here when I create a guest and switch to it, it shows a completely empty system without any installed apps, pictures, etc..
Therefore I still want to go back to Android 5. How is it possible? I have TWRP installed. My current rom is B395 and phone is PLK-AL10.
To add to previous post, please unroot, flash stock boot.img and recovery.img BEFORE attempting to flash any ROM, including transitional package.

I don't think he was rooted, as the official update was missing a feature and he just wanted to get back to Lollipop.

You have to first flash the transition package to go back to Lollipop. For transition package to work you have to first flash STOCK recovery.img.
To do that execute the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img[/b]
Here [b]recovery.img[/b] is the name of your recovery file, and execute this command from the folder where you have saved the STOCK recovery.img. If you don't have STOCK recovery then you can extract it form the [b]UPDATE.APP[/b] using [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454"]Huawei Update Extractor tool[/URL].[/QUOTE]
First I wanted to do so, but I could not find any transition package that worked with B380 stock rom (now I have 395). All I tried stopped with "software install failed" :(

Ok, I haven't heard about this yet but I'll try.
Finally, after 2 months of struggling I managed to get back to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 without a rollback file.
Here is what I did:
0. Download a full ROM you want to install
1. Backup of the current system with Hisuite (everything. Apps, media, contacts, call log, etc.)
2. Flash TWRP recovery with fastboot (start phone in fastboot mode)
3. Wipe (and format!) everything you can with TWRP
4. Extract boot.img and recovery.img from update.app of the new ROM with Huawei Update Extractor
5. Flash boot.img and recovery.img with fastboot.
6. Copy update app to dload folder on SD card, insert into the phone.
7. Restart phone with [VOL+] + [VOL-] + [Power] buttons to force update.
8. The system will be installed from SD card. I had no issues with the installation. First I did not format the phone (just wiped) and it did not work.
9. Restore data from backup.
The only strange thing is that the native app icons look different than my previous lollipop system. Don't know why. They are less colorful. I installed C00B220 for PLK-AL10.
I managed to get back to Android 5 and EMUI 3.1 with a rollback file.
Here what I did:
1. Download Downgrade pack.
2. Download C185B130 ROM, which i want to install.
3. Backup of the current system with Hisuite (everything. Apps, media, contacts, call log, etc.)
4. Copy update app from Downgrade pack to dload folder on mobile internal memory.
5. Restart phone with [VOL+] + [VOL-] + [Power] buttons to force update.
6. The system will be installed from mobile internal memory. I had no issues with the installation.
7. Copy update app from C185B130 ROM to dload folder on mobile internal memory.
8. Restart phone with [VOL+] + [VOL-] + [Power] buttons to force update.
9. The system will be installed from mobile internal memory. I had no issues with the installation.
10. Factory reset the mobile if the memory is showing 4gb.
11. The the native app icons look different than my previous lollipop system.
Thanks to tgergo and rest of everyone for the kind help.

[GUIDE] STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO ROOT AND TWRP - MM 23.5.A.1.291 LOCKED bootloader

For Z2 Marshmallow .291 and LOCKED bootloader.
Working for D6503. Seems to be issues for D6543 model. Not sure about D6502...
1. Firstly go to https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6aEcBP7FwsWUGpQdHdvaVRCQlk/view and download the .291 kernel.
2. Then download SuperSU from here.
3. Put both these files on your phone's SD card.
4. Next download the .575 kernel here.
5. Before this can be used, you need to change it from a .zip file to a .ftf file.
- Go to the file location in the file browser.
- Click on the 'View' section in the top ribbon (Win 10).
- Check 'file name extensions' in the 'show/hide' section.
- Rename the kernel file, deleting the .zip and replacing it with .ftf instead at the end.
6. Download the Recovery for MM from here.
Extract the zip file.
7. Download the correct drivers for your phone: simplest way seems to be by installing Sony PC Companion and connecting your device.
8. Download and install 'Flashtool' from here. (The 0.9.18.6 version seems to have better compatibility).
9. Install the drivers for the flash- if you are on windows 10 or 8 you will need to turn off driver signing first:
A) Press the Windows key + R together and in the ‘Run’ box type: shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
- This will take you to the advanced boot menu.
– Now make the following selections to boot into the Start Up Setting Screen: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Start Up Settings > Restart
– Then, when the machine restarts, select number 7 i.e. “Disable driver signature enforcement”. Your machine will start with Driver signing enforcement disabled until the next reboot.
B) Now you can install the Flashtool drivers.
– Windows will warn that the driver is not signed and will require you to confirm the installation.
– Once the installation is complete, reboot the machineTo install the drivers you need to go to the Flashtool install folder (e.g. C:\Flashtool) and go in to the 'drivers' folder and run the 'flashtool-drivers.exe'.
- From the menu select Flashmode drivers, Fastboot drivers, and then scroll down and select Xperia Z2 device drivers (not sure if this last one is necessary if you've done step 7 previously, but I did it and everything worked.)
- Click install, and click okay on the warning messages.
10. Enable developer options on your phone (repeatedly tap on build number in 'About phone' in settings.)
Then make sure that USB Debugging is enabled, and in 'Security' that 'Allow Unknown Sources' is enabled.
11. Back up vital data (though you shouldn't loose anything), then power your phone off with it not connected to the computer.
12. Startup Flashtool and let it update etc.
13. While holding the volume down button on your phone, connect it to your PC.
Flashtool should respond and spew out a few lines of text ending with something like 'Phone ready for flashmode operations'.
14. Click on the lightning bolt, select 'Flashmode', and then in the next window browse to the location of the .575 .ftf kernel file you made. Select it, then click 'flash' at the bottom right. There should be more lines of text hopefully showing that this is completed successfully.
15. Close Flashtool, disconnect your phone, then turn on your phone.
16. Flash the recovery: Reconnect your phone to the PC and select MSC mode.
Go to the unzipped recovery and run 'install.bat' as administrator (if that doesn't work try not as administrator).
If the window that opens up stays on 'starting daemon...' for a while check on your phone as you may need to authorize the 'unknown source' connection from the PC.
The installation should complete with a 'press any key to continue'. Your phone should then automatically reboot in to TWRP recovery.
17. Install SuperSU: Once in TWRP go to 'Install' and select the SuperSU zip (you may need to select 'storage' and choose your SD card first). Swipe to install!
18. Reinstall the .291 kernel: still in TWRP do basically the same as for SuperSU but this time with the MM .291 zip.
19. Cross your fingers and reboot!
20. All being well you are now rooted, you can check root by installing 'Root Checker' form the play store.
21. Open a beer and relax!
(22. Install Cyberian camera!)
Please give me some thanks if I have helped you!

Ha, yeah, sorry. It's not meant to be insulting, it's more tongue in cheek and based off the book series 'An Idiots Guide To...'
These are the instructions I needed to be able to do it myself, I just thought it would be easier for people to have it all consolidated in to one clear, easy to understand, set of instructions.
I'll change the title though, just incase it puts anyone off!
My device is D6543 and at the time of installing TWRP it appeared '... Error: device not supported'.

1. Firstly go to https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6aEcBP7FwsWUGpQdHdvaVRCQlk/view and download the .291 kernel.

My device is the D6543 .291 Stock and I have the Bootloader Unlocked, I am not able to do the TWRP procedure, the device normally reboots without Recovery Mode, what should I do?
I'm afraid I don't know about how to do the D6543. I did this with my D6503. Best thing to do is to post in this thread for some help.
Please post back here if you figure it out so that I can add the info to this guide.
I'll change the instructions so that is clear that this is tested on D6503.
I have aproblem with flashtool i couldn't find the specific ftf file though i put it in the specified folder

You can save the .575 kernel file where you like, as long as you browse to that location when selecting which file to flash in Flashtool.
Make sure it has actually been changed to a ftf file (like in step 5) and isn't still a zip: right click on the file and select properties, then details.

I know. I mean I don't know why you can't find the file.
The version of Flashtool I link to in the guide is the old version 0.9.18.6, so if you followed the guide you should already be using it.
Are you sure you renamed it to ftf correctly? You don't need to extract it.

Thanks for this, tooplanx, Works perfectly. Step by step guides like this are invaluable even if, like me, you've rooted a similar device before a few months ago, there is always little steps which you forget about so to have a guide like this is greatly appreciated.

How to use flashify to flash the recent updates under downloaded_rom folder?

1. My Redmi 5 Plus/Redmi Note 5 India is rooted, using TWRP and Magisk
2. I would like to know if there is a way that recent updates under downloaded_ROM can be flashed using a third party application such as Flashify?
3. I have come to this decision because when I tried to reboot device for installing recently updates, my device enters the TWRP recovery only find nothing in there, which is annoying. Root cause for this mess is that Xiaomi's fastboot rom downloads page is download, which would usually be my go to method after all. Using Mi Flash Tool, and then a few command types re-root the recently updated mobile phone.
Please guide me!
If I understood well if twrp it´s not recognicing (not really, only it can´t access) your data partition you need to format data at first time after to unlock and install a custom recovery in order that twrp can access to your storage directory.
Flashify just is capable to install boot and recovery images. Maybe you meant FlashFire, then to install it tap on + button and a menu will display with some options like Flash ZIP or OTA.

you're right, brother. I meant FlashFire, when I typed Flashfire. My bad.
I have the OTA downloaded from the official website, since the file I had in the downloaded ROM folder always returned an error as corrupt file when tried to open using Winrar. So I had to go the official site and get the same downloaded to see the contents inside.
But now, having copied the file to the downloaded ROM folder on my phone, I do not see any option as how I can choose the file to get installed. I mean there is no file explorer option given to me, rather Google Drive option. Perhaps I have to have the file uploaded once again on to my Google Drive on my device?

Download again the file from the same site, maybe downloaded to your Google Drive is corrupted and check that the extension didn´t change from .zip to .rar or FlashFire won´t recognice it. Winrar have to be capable to open it otherway the file is corrupted.
When you are sure that is the correct file If you had a stock recovery then you can install it through update option in settings/about device/updates from miui menu
