ExaGear and running Openfl from it - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As some may know ExaGear is a fine windows wine-based to run things on windows. I have made an app with the OpenFL language from which I have a Windows build to run them on Windows. Although typically it should be able to build apk from it too, it does not work and im not sure what causes the errors.. So as a workaround to building an apk, im trying to run the app on ExaGear.
Im not sure what is needed as I cant start the app at all, what packages are needed for installation on windows to read such a program? How do you read java or flash or which one is needed for wine based system?

[Q] Can I develop for my tablet on my tablet?

Basically the title..
Im wondering if there is any sort of android IDE app that can create and manage projects? I use my tablet as my primary pc since I no longer have a computer for the time being.
If there isnt an app, I wonder if it would be possible by booting into ubuntu and compiling code there. Although then Id have no way to run the app, would I?

Both options work. ...
If you know how to work via a shell, you should have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340852. It includes everything to get an android application up-and-running on your device from your device itself. It includes the java compiler, dex, signer, ... even vim as a text editor. Very cool.
Ubuntu works also, but is a bit heavier. You will need at least a giga byte of space. But then you can use most of the usual tools. But I didn't find a working SDK for android for the arm version of Ubuntu. So it's mainly useable to create applications that will have to run inside that Ubuntu. It is also possible to use it with a GUI throug VNC, but I don't feel that it is useable enough for real development.
Good luck ...

[Q] Is it possible ?

Hi all,
I am wondering if it it would be possible with a kind of light virtualization tool, to run some very simple Windows applications (a .exe file with no installation required, no registry, no .dll, etc.) within Android.
Of course it would'nt be to use it on a smartphone but on a tablet.
Does it already exist ?
Use Bosch (I think that's what it's called) and install windows 95/xp.

There are emulators like Bochs and DosBox that will emulate an x86 system. But its going to be pretty slow feeling. ARM and x86 use different instruction sets so everything has to basically be translated between the two which slows things down. If its a modern or big program you'll be better off running through a remote desktop program.
Thanks Guys,
In fact it is only simple .exe files which don't need powerful calculations.
But you mean that it will need to install a full Window OS ?
I'll have a look to these two softwares you mentionned.

Yeah, but you might be able to use a slimmed down version of the OS though.

Yes you would need to install a emulated OS which is probably limited to Windows 9x or older. I don't think there is anything out there that can emulate the newer non DOS based versions of Windows like 2000, XP, etc.
WINE works without installing an OS since its x86 on x86. Makes you wonder if it would be possible to build WINE for Android x86.
Well then, these solutions are too heavy for what I want to do.
I don't want to emulate a full OS.
Maybe later, if there are more and more needs like mine, some developpers (or Google itself) will create such a too to run some simple Windows apps on Android without installing Windows...

[Q] Build java files for android platform

Hi,
I'm new to android developement. To make it short. Our project needs to be ported for android. It has some java and C code. We run this java as applet using Oracle JRE in linux systems and using firefox browser.
Now it needs to be done on android and browser. Android doesnot support JRE. Hence i downloaded eclipse, ADT plugin. Added my java files, external JRE library and compiled it. Got the apk and classes.dex.
Now my question here is i'm not able to proceed further. How to execute the same as in JRE before. I'm totally confused. Running the apk in emulator/android mobile only runs the activity.java code. Say i'm printing hello world in that(i dont need that but still i have wrote it as my first program).
I dont know how to execute my other java files(which will run as java applet before in linux systems). I'm stuck here since i have not worked on android.
This would be the first step in to my porting.
Also the easy solution would be to run the applet.jar i have directly on android similar to linux jre. Is it possible.?
Any sort of help would be great. Thanks.

Anyone building a rom from source on a Windows machine?

I've been wanting to start building from source so I could actually try to contribute some development time to a rom.
I've seen some of the build from source threads and even tried to use the wiki from one ROM's page. but the latest version of Ubuntu doesn't want to even get the Android SDK installed let alone get the latest code. So I was thinking that I would try to get this up and running on one of my windows boxes and was wondering if anyone else is building from a Windows machine.
If so is there a good resource or tutorial for getting started.
Don't think you can build with windows or it'll be hard to set up. Are you in Ubuntu 11.10?
Sdk should install fine though it isn't necessary to build. Follow Google's initializing build environment guide or cyanogen mods wiki guides.

I pulled down the latest Ubuntu build through Wubi (easy dual boot and removal since I was putting it on my wife's laptop).
Doing that since I haven't found a way to get a VM to recognize my phone when it's connected. I'll look up both of those guides and try them... thanks.
The Google guide has instructions to allow computer to detect and also put adb in bash.
Would not rec wubi for anything other then temporary which you seem to be doing. Just make an actual partition for Linux later, else you will run outta space.

ok, so on two installs of Ubuntu 10.11 the guide from setting up the Android build environment isn't going according to plan... so i'm wondering what version of Linux are you guys using to build?

How to Install Android OS on Virtual machine in PC ?

Can anybody explain me how to install android os on virtual machine on my computer. So that i can easily use the android apps on my pc without using the emulator and i think this would work better. Please Help...
You may take advantage of BlueStacks.
My recommendation: BLISS OS ( dual boot solution )
Emulators - where it doesn't matter which one - are always only a stopgap solution. Because emulators share system resources with PC, a high-end PC is neded to more or less flawlessly run an emulator instance.
Hi Kajal,
I totally agree with all the other answers like you can easily install Bluestacks on your computer and can use android apps easily. But only things only thing in bluestack is that you have good amount of RAM so that the apps can run smoothly. But still if you want to install android Operating system on virtual machine then you can follow these steps:-
Download the android ISO file from android-x86 and then download Virtualbox and install it properly.
1. Now Open Virtualbox
2. Create Virtualbox a new virtual machine
3. Configure virtual machine RAM and Harddrive.
4. Now import the ISO file in the virtual machine and setup it properly.
5. Now Adjust your Video Memory allocated for the android virtual machine.
6. Now once your android machine is created, Click on Start.
7. It will start loading the android files and then select the harddrive where it will be installed.
8. Now wait for few minutes and it will be ready to RUN.
I know the process is little longer, that i have also attached the guide showing how to install Android OS properly.

If it doesn't work. Please comment below, i would definitely love to guide you further.
Thanks,
Hope it helps
