The title says it all. Heres a brief story
1st problem, i sometimes found out that my sd card ejects itself even if i dont use files under that storage.
2nd problem, i always use my 2nd sim for calls, any number i call sometimes it ended, didnt even rang on first attempt. I didnt encounter this on my samsung phone..
The 2 problems mentioned can be solved by restarting the phone or in 2nd problem sim card can be solved by turning on airplane mode and turn off..
Is this a bug on color os? And i hope theres a solution for this because its the micro problems that is just irritating..
And i wonder if its because of my simcard tray insertion that it affects its reading for sd card and simcards.. But the fact that the phone reads them means it was inserted the right way..

Hi all, I have gained lot's of valuable info from this forum, so I thought I would give some info back.
I have read about load of people having problems with data disappearing from their SD cards.
I have owned a XDA 1 for just over 1 year and have used it with a Toshiba 512Mb SD card without a single problem. I have stored data on it, deleted data, defragged, MP3s, films you name it no probs at all.
Then I installed SKYPE Version 2.0.0.39. I know you are supposed to have WIFI for Skype but I just wanted to check out the software.
Anyway enough of that the point is, about 2 days later I was watching a film off the storage card, 15 minutes into it the device went into an audio loop and required a soft reset. After trying to resume with the film I found out the storage card was completly empty no files at all  It may just be a coincidence but I think the SKYPE was responsible. I know oter people have reported similar storage probs.
Missing data on SD Memory Card
I've had it happen a couple times, and I don't use Skype.
The first time it was the card itself. The last couple times, I was able to restore the information on the card with the Backup Utility.
I think it's a bug in the device, damn frustrating, too.
As with most any computer, you better be backing up regularly!
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Has anyone had problems with the Storage Card completely dying? I cannot read my 1GB miniSD card on my Wizard device at all any more. It started being weird yesterday but after a reset I was able to access the data, but today it is totally gone.
A 16MB one works fine. :? These cards don't generally die that easily do they?
I think it's what they call SD wipeout. I've experienced the same problem a number of times already.. the only solution ive found is to ensure my sd card is in write protect before i insert in on my unit. its really frustrating..

What I do about this
I turned my Card's ''Write Protect" on. I think it might be a good way.
I Have the some problem with my O2 XDAmini
SanDisk SD 1G
Me too. I had an experience of having the SD card (512MB Kingston) completely wiped, and another experience of partial (just the 'Program Files') directory. I can't remember that I've did on the 1st one, but as for the second wipe (partial), I'm trying out a new software that is installed in my SD card, however, I guess the software is not WM5 compatible and I have to had it uninstalled. I did a two soft-reset in the midst of the program running (e.g. hanged). Later I tried uninstall it, but not successful, so I just went into the card and delete it using Explorer. Then later, I've noticed all of the icons of programs installed in the SD are 'gone', only then I realised that my 'Program Files' folder was wiped.
I'm not sure how to prevent this problem, but now, I tried to had my card out before I do any soft-reset, especially in times where software hangs.
Probably it is good if all of us just try to recall the events just before you've experience a SD wipe out, probably we will find some pattern to this.
Have already searched for this but did not find one, so any keyboard-happy vets keep the bashing at bay please
Q. Is it safe to remove the memory card whilst the phon is on e.g. previous phone (symbian N95) had a 'safely remove memory card' option so that the card could be removed whilst the phone was on?
So basically is 'hot-swapping' alright/good for the phone?
Cannot find this exactly but the HD2 owners manual says to insert the card before powering on, so I would guess that the inverse would be true as well. To have the phone powered off before removing it ...
All I got ....
wellllllllll, you probably shouldn't, but i have done several times with no ill effects. (mind you, i never use the 'safely remove hardware' on the pc to remove usb devices either, , maybe im not the best for advice, after all, hehe)
You may find that if something tries to write to the card whilst it is out of the phone, the system will make a folder called 'storage card' and call your card 'storage card2' when you reinsert it, which of course messes with your settings and apps. If that does happen you just rename the storage card folder to something else (it wont let you delete it till after the next steps), then restart the phone and it will put storage card2 back to normal.
I suppose there is no 'official' and 'safe' way of going about 'hot-swapping' ?
Yank said card put in another card. I have done it will all my phones with no issue.
Just did it a few hours ago with the power on. No issues..yet..
it really doesnt matter. the option in ur old nokia was comparable to the thing, windows has for usb sticks and such.
i dont think u click each time on the "safe remove" button when u remove ur usb stick from the pc?^^
well, im always removin my sd card without powering down^^ no problems here
i just ried it while surfing away on some apps....didn't cause a problem...but prob not advisable...just in case ;-)
Matt
I have never shut off the phone to change card..
Has been working great since HTC Wizard...
I guess it is OK to do so, however, if your send tabs are associated with storage card (such as reader, weather tab - else than original etc.) it may cause some problem. Nothing which can't be solved though.
no problem at all. I do it all the time my SD works like a charm, no need to switch your phone off. It's just a waiste of time. I always make a copy of my SD just in case, but never had problems in any way. Just my 2 cents
...I also have no issues with that
same here too. however, i always ensure that nothing is running from my sd card before removal. i go to task manager to end all task and process that is running off my sd card.
Hi all,
My Xperia P is having a very weird problem: 5-10 seconds after I inserted my sim card, it goes out by itself. Closing the sim card lid doesnt solve it. It occured rarely in the beggining but it got so frequent to the point I cant use the mobile anymore.
Have you seen sthing similar or have any idea on how to solve it?
Tks for the help!!
Best
hi!!
my Xperia Sola shuts down automatically when i start my phone with sim inserted. I tried to restart the phone but once I key in my SIM Card passcode, the phone shuts down again. I repeatedly trying to switch on the phone but every single time I key in my SIM Card passcode, it shuts down.
Next, I removed the SIM Card and tried to switch on the phone and it was running perfectly FINE, without the SIM Card! I was able to connect to the WiFi, all apps running well, view photos and play music, just like how it was before.
Thus, I assumed that the phone is alright and again inserted the SIM Card and tried to start up the phone. Again the problem comes, once I entered my SIM Card passcode, the phone auto shuts down, without any warning or message, the screen just go blank. Tried for another 5 - 6 times but my attempts ended in vain.
To reconfirm, I took out the SIM Card and switch on the phone again and EVERYTHING is 100% fine!
In addition to this, i would like to make it clear that :
-my SIM Card works fine with other handphones and that
-inserting other SIM Cards into my Xperia Sola ended up with the same result.
Moreover, the Xperia Sola works perfectly fine WITHOUT a SIM Card.
it also works perfectly fine if
-I did not key in my SIM Card passcode and let it be in SIM Card LOCKED Mode.
-and perfectly fine in FLIGHT Mode
Please help. I am really anxious and frustrated regarding this issue
Hi, I don't actually own this phone and am asking on behalf of one of my family members.
Recently they were using their phone and one of the apps on the SD card (they were using it at the time) started to run slow. They exited the app and found that the icons of all apps on the SD card reverted to the icon what shows when the SD card is removed. They then rebooted the phone and the first notification they got was that the SD card was unexpectedly removed, they then contacted me and I suggested that they connect it to their computer in an SD card reader, they said that the SD card isn't detected at all. I've looked at it myself and can confirm it isn't working (it doesn't even work in my phone).
Has anybody else experienced this problem with the phone and if so have you been able to fix it?
