Hi,
a friend of mine has Ace and she is quite happy with it. When she got it, it was locked. Since she needs the phone when she's not in the country because she has other sim cards as well, I unlocked it. I found some tools and it only took few minutes. I actually don't remember what I did now.
Any way, since then, she has been experiencing some sudden reboots. Sometimes the phone is ok for 15-20 days and sometimes it reboots 5x in 5 minutes.
It all started after the sim unlock. Do you have any idea what that might be?
Thx
Is the phone fullish......
If the phone has allot of apps on or is running alot of proceses running, the phone reboots because the phone is out of ram.........
It happens 2 me alot.......Try flashing Sladyboost from Slaid480 or Wipe data/Factory reset
Then the phone will stop rebooting
GOOD LUCK
HIT THA THX IF I HALPED
Tell ur gf to pm me ill help her. PERSONALLY

Maybe it's ram usage. Try flashing scripts to optimize ram. If it didn't work, flash a stock via odin, if it still didn't work... uhh I dunno brick it intentionally then lie to samsung service centre to get a new ace (ok don't do that)
First, my phone is rooted running 4ext recovery and the latest energy rom. It is also sim unlocked from a pin given by tmo.
For the past couple weeks, the phone would randomly shut off and power would drop 30%. After a week of that, my phone won't charge anymore. So obviously I think that I have a dead battery. I replace the battery with a new one and although it is much better, sometimes it still will not charge.
Another issue I have is, I constantly get the message "unlocking PUK" but I am already sim unlocked. This would turn my phone screen on and off every 5 mins or so changing back and forth from locked PUK to unlocked PUK. If I'm doing something on my phone, it would go into the "unlocking PUK" and I have to go back into the app evey few seconds.
I am not sure how to resolve this issue. Any insight would greatly be appreciated.

Sounds like a ROM issue to me. I would try flashing a more stable ROM, or even back to stock for a while. Just long enough to figure out the problem.
I'm also having the same problem. HTC unlocked bootloader, latest Energy Rom. It randomely shuts off, and the battery % bounces around all over the place. I reflashed the Rom in 4ext, with a full wipe, battery stats wipe, and fully drained and charged it for 10 hours. Still persists. Stock kernel, still SIM locked so I don't think that matters.

Shouldn't they be posting in the Energy ROM thread and maybe the dev or others in that tread could help if they have seen these issues, not that I am one to talk but I've heard nothing bad about that ROM?
I want to post in the Ron thread but, even though I've been a member for a long time I do.t have the post count to post in dev posts...

Hi guys,
I wanted to post this in the development thread but since I'm new in here this wouldn't happen
So, here's the problem - my Samsung I9100 phone loses signal and cannot reconnect to the network unless rebooted. You can see the kernel and ROM state from the screenshot.
Every now and then the phone loses signal and unsuccessfully tries to reconnect to the network. I cannot make outgoing calls but am able to receive incoming (but only sometimes, in some cases it wouldn't receive incoming neither). Only a reboot solves the issue but this loss of signal happens at least several times a day and this is quite irritating.
Other problem is when the phone is at a state of no signal, it writes some logs in the system partition in \data\logs which quickly take up all the free memory.
I've been using this ROM since v 3.7. I've updated it twice to get to v 3.91. Through all the releases the issue persisted. I haven't had these problems with other ROMs.
I read somewhere in here that this might be a problem with misplaced or worn-out SIM card. So I put the same SIM in my old Nokia phone and tested for several days - no loss of signal observed in that period.
So any help or advise would be appreciated.
Could this be a ROM issue or a hardware problem? Maybe a kernel problem?
Would be glad if more advanced users give some ideas.
That's it for now, if you got any questions regarding the problem or I missed some information let me know.
Cheers!
Could it be this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162374&highlight=signal+loss
or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2178090&highlight=signal+loss
Have you tried other modem firmwares?
OK, seems like the easiest solution is to just change the modem...
I changed it to XXKI4 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277593
I'm starting to monitor whether the problem will reoccur.....
Hi have you solved the problem, as I'm having the same problem ?
hi :cyclops:
when I changed the modem to XXKI4 I experienced the same issue almost immediately after reboot....
then I flashed XXLPX (on random), rebooted again. Since then no problems observed, signal strength is high and 3G speeds are OK....
will keep monitoring for several more days and update you on the issue (I'd be really glad if this simple fix solves it )

Hey, having the same issue... Anything new with this modem?
I've got signal lost almost every day, sometimes few times a day, every few days the signal drops and not back (when I'm clicking on 'mobile networks' I've got the message: "insert sim card - insert sim card to access network services") and only reboot fix this problem (airplane does nothing).
Tried to clean the SIM card, the sim housing, Its not happening in specific place...
I know people who have this issue and uses a different ROMs/Kernels/Modems ROOT/NO ROOT...heres a little list:
Im using right now STOCK 4.0.3 LPG, modem: LQ6 with Siyah kernel 3.4.1
Others using other stock 4.0.3 / 4.0.4 with modems: JHLP9, LPS, ...
Someone mention [not here] about lpx modem that fix it...
If someone else tried it would be great if you share.
thanks!
I had this issue and replaced my battery with another genuine original battery which fixed it totally.

Signal lost - log screenshot
Ok, I took a screenshot from alogcat at the same time I've lost the signal... (I export the whole log but seems this app is not that smart and its export only after the signal lost so its irrelevant)
At screenshot - only the 'error messages'
Can anyone analyze this error messages? why is it happens?
Suddenly the signal lost sometimes while call sometimes not, at this time I had to reset the device to get the signal back (its happens once per few days), sometimes its lost and back after ~1 minute...
Don't know if this device has a problem (all the problems that i've heard are from this device, no matter what modem each one use) or its something else....
Would like for some help with this log, and the guy who tried the LPX modem - if its works fine now....
Thanks!
no, it doesn't work.
was OK for a few days then the problem started again.
1-2 times a day I have to reboot due to signal loss.
and the irritating part is that while with no signal the battery drains a lot and the don't-know-what-are-these-for logs keep on generating, filling the whole internal memory......
will continue to dig for a solution....

Do you have a roaming enable?
Here I suspect its the reason for losing the signal, maybe its the problem...
Did you tried your SIM with other device (not S2)?

no, roaming is not enabled and I have tried using the SIM on another phone with no problems
one strange thing is that the disconnection happens absolutely random... at first it happened several times a day.. at recent times it is more rarely - every few days.. disconnections are not related to any location or certain conditions of phone usage... simply no idea
soon I will change the ROM (respectively the kernel as well) and see if this continues
Thats weird...a lot of people with other devices have this issue...at first I thought its only on S2 (modem/kernel/hardware) then I thought its a infrastructure issues in our area.... donno mate....

Need help with this also, same issue
posting an update on the situation...
I changed the ROM with full wipe of data as well as internal memory format. Installed the latest 10.1.3 stable ROM from cyanogen - this means different kernel, different radio and a stable ROM.
And it goes on.... if I had money right now I'd just change the phone cos I'm getting sick of this ****

As per experience this is also due to battery getting weak. Monitor the % you get this problem the most. If it arises around tje same % level then its battery. Also check your battery by rotating it on table and note if it rotats easily and there is any bump in the battery

This is fault of efs in most cases.
Try jelly snap rom which i have most stable and see if it resolves the issue
Otherwise search how to repair efs if pissible

sometimes it may cause reboots and most probably faulty batteries cant take the load, try another battery( just use another sony battery from friend if possible -EP500)

Sometimes it does overheat during charging, but that necessarily isn't the case when it reboots, but yaa will try out some other battery.

removing sim card means that you are reducing the load of radio on cpu&/ battery
so the problem may lie in them or the software
try to install a clean copy of the software, if the problem is persistent then try to replace hardware

yep now test battery if it is still persistant then problem may lie in the circuit board(CPU or any other )
Checked the phone with a different battery, and it was working fine, so the problem is the battery, will have to get it changed now. Though i have to say its the weirdest case i have seen due to the battery gone bad,
But thank you for your help all those who posted in this thread :good:

Hello,
i had bought a Redmi Note 4 and had received today, but when i try to use i had looked a problem because cellphone is randomly shutdown, after shutdown i need to wait about a 2 minutes to try to start again. After 6 minutes phone shutdown again, and i have same problem to start.
I can't believe that is overheating because its a new cellphone and as i said i had received today. I had tried a reset and no success, phone still shutdown.
Thanks
Overheating
I had looked that is a overheating problem, when system comes to 60 celsius cellphone shutdown.

Hmm very strange, would start to think hardware problem if it persists between Roms. But you say it's fine other than after its booted into the ROM itself. Have you unlocked the bootloader, what Roms did you try?

Hi i had tried a 8.1.2 Miui, 8.0.4, global and chinese.
MY bootloader its locked, i'm waiting for xiaomi allow my unlock. When i boot on fastboot mode cellphone does not shutdown, but fastboot mode its only screen of fastboot, its not a system. I believe that cellphone is not heating, but its not sure.
Thank You
I'm believing that is a software bug, because when i plug he shows error message "Please plug out", and few minutes before i had started system and shows -3 Celsius and heat up to 60 celsius and poweroff again.
I had drain battery in fastboot mode and trying to solve this bug.
Maybe you could try flashing to the latest Global developer 7.2.9 & see how it boots then.
Other than that as gsmyth eluded too it's most likely hardware & I would be in contact with your seller A.S.A.P for a replacement.

Guys, do you still face it? I have new Redmi Note 4 with latest stable MIUI 9 and Android 7 and my phone just rebooted from no reason during a phone call...
I just had the same issue that started 2 days ago. I was running the latest official Lineage 0S and the device started rebooting every 2 minutes or so.
I tried wiping cache and dalvik which didn't help. Then I clean flashed the latest Pixel Experience and after about a day of using it the rebooting continued.
So this morning I flashed the stock fastboot ROM to see how that goes... and so far so good. I really hope it's not a hardware issue.
I will post here again if my rebooting starts again.

So? Did it stop? Mine is rebooting randomly. Tried every ROMs but dunno it didn't cause any issue in those although in a global stock ROM it happens frequently. Worth mentioning=> I had to root my phone. Wiped all my data, installed the old default stable ROM etc. still the issue persists. Did an analysis from Simple System Monitor app I gathered that everything is running okay except "pa_therm0" is showing whooping 95°C temp! Dunno it could be a wrong reading but anyone could help on this then I'd appreciate

Do you have a second SIM card inserted?
I figured out a while later that having a sim in slot 2 causes reboots. With an SD inserted and no SIM, reboots have stopped pretty much entirely. A friend of mine with the same device has the same issue even though he's running stock. I'm not sure if it's a factory fault of all devices but I'm afriaid I just need to use my phone as a single SIM device from now on

Yes I do have double sim cards inserted since 8 months. It could be a problem for my random reboot issue. But, recently I've cleared both Dalvik & cache partitions through the Recovery mode. People in other forums have mentioned that this solution has worked for them. Gladly till now there hasn't been any single random reboot happened by so far. Rest assure I'll keep you updated

Glad to hear it Wipe Dalvik & Cache is always the golden rule when dealing with custom ROMs.
Sadly though, it made no difference for me. Only thing that helped me is removing SIM 2

Well it seems like for me wiping Dalvik Cache & running on only 1 sim methods didn't helped at all. So I stopped using processor & battery hungry Snapchat app. Guess this should help.
You guys when you face such problems after you brought a phone you should definitely go and have it fixed or replaced it(or get your money back).Do not rush and unlock bootloader thinking that it will help you because if it is hardware problem it is over, and the service center has every right to blame you for its damage since you messed with it.Like my lg g4........

I only ran into the problem after unlocking the bootloader because I had only used one sim while everything was still stock. I know I could relock bootloader and send it in and probably get a knew device, but to me it isn't worth it. The cell service providers in my country are notorious for taking their time with repairs and replacements. It's not worth the 3-5 months it will probably take... I'll be just fine with a single sim.
