LG V30 - Failed to mount /system - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Long time back I had an issue with installing custom ROMs as Iwhile install I was receiving message failed to mount /system, somehow I have managed to fix that by myself and i installed flashable stock Pie ROM. Now when I wanted to install RevengeOS by mistake I choose Partition.zip from Oneplus rom and now I can't install anything else due to this error. I even tried to use Fox Recovery but didn't helped much.
Edit 1 :
When I tried to fix that following steps from internet I'm receiving error 7 for installing the ROM and error 1 for kernel. Also even when I fixed /system it's all the time unchecked and i can't choose it again.
Any suggestions how can I fixed that as i really forgot how did I do that long time back
Thank you,
Snip3rPolska

Does anybody know what can I do ? I have tried almost everything what I know and still nothing.. Don't remember what I did that time to fix that ?

[Q] com.android.phone error!

Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my phone and I looked around the forum but didn't found anything like that.
Constantly appears a message: "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly"
I can not change network settings, the sim card is not detected and can not do practically nothing on my phone.
This only happens with custom roms and started happening yesterday ... I tried flashing several roms and it always happens the same, just does not happen with the official rom from LG.
I've been using custom roms for a long time and never happened to me ... how can I solve this problem? It has nothing to do with the baseband I've tried the new and the old baseband ..
Thanks in advance!
please check if your are flashing correct custom roms for your baseband.
Change the permissions on phone.apk or reboot.if this is not help then something is wrong with the apk.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
the apk is ok. reboot don't solve the problem! I am using roms that I already used in the past (same versions, without problems..)
try this

Sometimes Recovery can't format /system so you need to clear /system manually. You can do it with this zip (flash as always in recovery), or in mounts menu (clockworkmod recovery only), or with adb:
1. Mount /system in recovery.
2. adb shell rm -rf /system/*
You get 1 error. This is ok.
Will update if I found this bug.

then flash ur custom rom
tell us:
- rom u using
- kernel
- old or new baseband( if you flashed the official LG upgrade to gingerbread that means u have the new baseband)

Error Status 7

I have SGP311 4.2.2 stock rooted with this kernel and regularly I am trying to install varius custom ROMS but I am always getting Error Status 7 and flashing stops. The only way to overcome this issue is to install first the boot.img from the ROM that I am going to install and then through the Recovery of the new boot.img I can install the custom ROM without errors.
I know this is not a normal behaviour and I am trying to figure out what's wrong. I tried to edit updater-script by removing all the getprop lines but then I got the same error when the set_perm command is executed.
Could you help me ?
Thanks!
i had the same issue

i had the same issue while i was flashing cyanogen mod 10.1.3 , any ways i kept trying, i still recieved an error
afterwards i tried to download the rom again and then i placed it into my internal sd storage, after soo many tries, i finally got it working
maybe its the issue with your zip file, try downloading it again, place it into your internal storage, not external, then flash it

Hi and thank you for the reply.
I tried to install from the internal flash though I didn't believe that the result would be different and I had the message (set_perm Error Status 7). It's very strange that no other users mentiong this problem. I am thinking maybe it's something with my stock ROM or some other setting.

i think you have mentioned that you flashed the boot.img before you tried flashing the rom, i would recommend to flash the right boot.img again from the rom, this is the most common issue when u get status 7 error,
other wise, backup all of your important data, return to stock by using flash tool / factory data reset, root again and then flash the boot.img and then flash the rom
thats what i do when im desperate for the rom

[Q] [Q&A][ROM][4.4.4][i9305] Error flashing custom ROM pacman

Hi everyone,
Im writing because I got in a bit of a trouble installing custom ROMs. I have installed 3 different ROMs, I wanted to try them for myself, and after that my phone does not work. I have researched and I am asking for help because I do not know what caused the error.
What I did:
Install clockworkmod as recovery tool in phone and Cynamongenmod following this tutorial http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9305. ----> Everything works fine except the camera (it is a known issue)
Install paranoid android to see if the camera bug what fixed, (it wasn't) ----> Everything works fine except the camera
Install pacman (pac_i9305-release-20141231.zip) , but i didnt install gapps ----> Everything works fine, even the camera!!
Try to install gapps for the version 4.4.4 to my understand (pa_gapps-stock-4.4.4-20150208-signed.zip). -----> Clockwork recovery tool says that can not install. Researched about it and flashed Team Win Recovery Project v2.3.3.0
Installed gapps with TWRP -----> Booted pacman but get stuck on error like "can not execute gapps"
Got a bit frightened and installed Clockwork revovery tool and Cyanmongenmod again----> The phone boots but NO PHONE SERVICE WORKING!!, I got in panic
Used the recovery image -----> The phone boots (even the phone service) but I get a error on gapps "gapps stoped"
Installed TWRP again and try to install Pacman rom and give me the errors:
Making sysmlinks....
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E: error in /data/media/0/sideload.zip (status7)
Reserached a bit and found: http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-fix-a-broken-rom-flash-in-certain-kitkat-roms/
Im confused and now I just dont know what can I do to get my phone back to normal, I dont mind it is with the factory version [:'( ] or with a custom rom that works fine [=)]. Thanks in advance to everyone
Thanks for your help in advance =)

Please help! Nothing works any more! Cant install anything !

Hey,
I am really frustrated after 5 hours trying and nothing works ....
Today I wanted to install the newest CM 13 update and after it I had the Problem that I got every 3 Seconds the message that Google Apps crashed.
So I tried to install GAPPS again. Also failed and I had even worser messages and my Phone was useless. So I deleted everything to install CM 12.1 again!
But now I have the Problem that I can only restart in the "normal" cyanogenmod recovery. When I try to install TWRP from my linux computer I cant authorise to my phone because I dont geht a message on my phone (always in the recovery screen)
I tried to put a ROM on my SD-Card and use the "Apply Update" funktion to load it. But there I cant see the .zip files from the ROM.....
I really dont know what to do and totally frustrated. Used this handy for so long and never had problems, but now I have no clue. :\
I am happy for every answer, thanks!
If you can boot into cm12.1 or cm13 download twrp manager and flash twrp .
What GAPPS version are you installing on CM13?

Is your bootloader locked?
Can you post the result of "fastboot oem device-info"?
If your bootloader is not locked, you can still install TWRP through fastboot.
But, you'll need a Windows machine for all this
Your issue sounds similar to my experience. Did you reboot after flashing CM13 before flashing Gapps? When I did I had this problem. Solution clean flash both the rom and gaps without reboot in between.

Error flashing stock rom - Size too big - error ext4

Hi guys, I have encountered a reeeally big problem with my SM-J500FN... any help would be really appreciated.
So, I had installed the Resurrection remix rom 5.8.x and wanted to upgrade to 6.0.
I wanted to check whether everything was ok so I tried reinstalling the stock rom (mind: I've already done this with the same files) via Odin.
Anyway, the process ended with "size is too big 143360<409600" and "Invalid ext4 image".
Now I can only boot into download mode, otherwise a message pops up telling me to try and use Smart Switch's emergency recover (SS doesn't even recognize my device).
What shoud I do? I'm really worried...
Thanks in advance
