But don't update if you have a custom rom or are planning to use one: it locks the bootloader (though it just takes a "fastboot -i 0x19D2 oem unlock" to unlock it) and filesystem (unified storage) is not compatible with CM11/CM12 yet.
This is still considered open beta stage rite? Not official version yet IINM ...

I know this thread is too old, but I wanna inform you guys about the new custom ROM for ASUS Zenfone C.
It was made by a small team and made a project called "Fox Flat Nano Project" (search it in google, xda forums prevented me from posting outside links). They said that it uses "fake" marshmallow (or lollipop idk) version of the custom ROM and removes some of the bloatware (assuming it said "Removed unused app") just only for Zenfone C (finally someone made it for the first time)
If you having trouble with it, you would contact them for further information. Mostly, the blog is Indonesian so good luck translate it using broken translator. (no offense )
Unlock tool for ZS550KL is now available on Asus official web site. It support all OS versions to unlock the boot loader.
I got it to unlock Orio 8.0 for TWRP and Magisk 18.1, and it works great.

Hi guys,
I would like to root my Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe ZS570KL (ASUS_Z016D, CPU 2.15 GHz) with Android 8.0.0 Oreo and Firmware Version WW-15.0210.1810.73-0.
I already ran the ZS570KL 8996(None-PRO) SKU UnlockTool and apparently everything went well.
Can someone confirm me that after this step it's possible to root my phone in the described conditions with the following software:

Too little too late... ASUS killed this phone before it could take off...
Hardware was superb but unfortunately by the time the unlock tool was made available other newer higher spec phones had come out and devs were gone to these newer, easier to root, phones...
Shame as this was a GREAT phone, spec wise, at the time and it would have been awesome to see some real developement for it...

Can someone please help me debug a custom rom I made for Asus Zenfone 3 Laser, ported from Xiaomi Redmi 3s. BOTH IS OREO 8.0.0, and the same chipset of SNAPDRAGON 430.
What I did was port the boot.img, it booted up, but wifi, bluetooth, navigation keys, fingerprint, camera, sounds, and hotspot won't work. I've tried porting the system files from the stock to port rom and edit the update-script, also tried these methods:
