Getting a very intermittent issue with the new phone.
Got the Note 20 and use a Samsung clear case with it.
Every now and then and can be days in between I will lose signal and the message "Check Sim Card Tray" pops up. Normally comes up a couple of times and then is ok.
Have tried the sim in Slot 1 and moved it to Slot 2 and same problem. Have tried another Sim in the phone and Sim is ok. All as Samsung support suggested.
Tried another Sim in the phone but still same problem.
Regret beginning to set in.

Try a new SIM Card. I had the exact same issue on my Note 10+ 5G & activating a new SIM Card cleared it up, haven't seen the pop-up message since, going on a month now.

Did the old "hard reset solves everything".
No messages since.
Thanks anyway

I was going to go that route (hard reset) & good chance that may have done the trick.
I also tried removing/re-installing the SIM Card & just resetting the network settings, seemed like a logical step, along w/a recovery cache wipe & it persisted.
My SIM Card was several years old & figured it might be failing, so, I switched it out for a newer one (the one that actually shipped w/the phone) & it's been working ever since.
Coincidentally, the GOOGLE NEWS app still gets its own in-app toast similar to the system wide one most have experienced (pretty sure it's an app bug). I don't see anything like it when I'm using anything else on the phone.
Glad to hear you were able to resolve the problem, it's an annoying problem, leaving one wondering if you missed any calls/emails/messages /etc......
I was told by a carrier that it is best to get a new SIM card with the Note 20 5G devices, because they were having issues with the older SIM cards in the new smartphones. Most carriers will give you one free anyway. I received a free SIM card with my new Note 20 and had it linked to my account. I hope this helps!
Found something that seems to cause and fix this issue.
If I update OTA then within minutes I get the sim card message.
If I then use ODIN to flash the full release then the sim card message disappears. (With keeping data).
Hope this helps and someone can prove that it works.

Nope. IT seemed sorted by this.
I can confirm that divvykev method worked on my Samsung Note 20.
Firmware via Odin (without deleting data) solves this problem.
The "Check Sim Card Tray" message no longer appears.

Hi all, I do not know what to do anymore.
I receive the same texts multitudes of times. I have contacted Motorola, and was instructed to to a factory reset. I did the reset and the problem has not gone away. I am running ICS 4.0.4 and using the stock messaging app. I have informed Motorola that the reset did not work, but am still waiting for a reply (but to be honest, I'm not counting on a solution there).
I received 2 text messages about 28 hours ago, and they are still coming in. Currently those 2 combined have come in 197 times (and going up as I type [it's now 200 times before clicking "submit"]). Another came through today 63 times, and another 48 times. This is driving me mad. I have rebooted the phone, gone in and out of airplane mode. Turned on airplane mode, removed sim, replaced sim, turned off airplane mode. NOTHING!
I'm not sure which way to turn, so that is why I'm here now.
Please can anyway point me the right direction.

OK, I placed my SIM in a Galaxy S3, and 2 messages that kept coming through, came through on the S3 with my SIM in it..
Meaning it's a network/SIM problem.
If the above is true, then why would moto bother?
If Moto suggests a new sim, what would that help? It would do the same with the new SIM wouldn't it? So, is the phone screwing the SIM card up? hmmm.. Are you having the issue/did you have the issue?

SIM cards can screw up by themselves, I had had this problem some time ago, not the messages one, but my phone couldn't find networks at all. It was just once, I bought another SIM and nevermore had this problem
moto OTA updates damages sim card i mean it does something which messes up sim's functionality....like there is a flag which sends confirmation on recieval of message to server so it is assumed that msg is delivered ...but in our cases that flag is not set meaning server thinks that message is not delivered and hence keeps on sending.....so taking new sim will restore that and hence the problem is gone....SO NEXT TIME ON OTA REMOVE SIM AND UPDATE.....
Ok u flashed a rom and have No SIM inserted or no service or that kind of error.I found this fix trying out things for myself.Take out your SIM card ,turn on airplane mode, reinsert it and turn off your phone(not reboot but power off).Wait for 1 minute and power it back on.Tada!Should be fixed!:fingers-crossed:
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I was worried I was going to have to try one of the more complicated fixes I've seen here. I was puzzled because after performing Joseph230's procedure to root and "convert" an S4 from AT&T to T-Mobile (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/convert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719) everything seemed fine and I reinstalled all my apps. Then, I get the "No SIM inserted" error out of nowhere!
After much researching I was losing hope of finding a fix guaranteed to work. Then I found your post and it worked like a charm! :highfive:
robermaldo
Thank You
Im so glad that this worked because I was losing hope that my imei or something was broken and I git scared then I found this and it actually worked I thought it was because 5.1.1 or something anyways thanks for the help I actually loged in my XDA account just to post that cause I just always use the browser
A coworker brought me his G2 that I have taken apart to fix many times before because it was having problems charging and turning on (black screen; rhythmic buzz from the vibration motor). I worked around that to get it booted temporarily but then the SIM connection seemed to suddenly fail. I replaced the motherboard entirely because some charge/power issues persisted and everything works perfectly EXCEPT that the replacement also doesn't see the SIM. Both are running stock LG Verizon Lollipop (assumed installed by OTA). No one was playing around with alternate ROMs or anything. None of the fixes in this thread help. The SIM slot is on the board so I hesitate to assume that the charge, mic, headphone flex PCB has something to do with it, but it is the only major common component (even replaced the screen again along with the battery, speaker, etc while leaving out useless components). Any suggestions?
Long version:
After a previous screen replacement it would only buzz when attempting to turn on or buzz repeatedly when attempting to charge until I loosened the black screw near the battery connector. I definitely narrowed it down to that particular screw, though I still couldn't say why (the previous tech who replaced the screen may have shorted the battery terminal near there). When he brought it back to me it was doing the same thing again even with the screw completely removed. Within minutes I had it booting just by poking around. Not sure what I did but I had to take it apart and poke around again to get it to come on after making the mistake of turning it off (went right back to buzzing). I'm pretty sure that the SIM card worked because he received a couple text messages when I first got it turned on (phone hadn't been booted in a day). After getting it to turn on I had to leave it on while reassembling, so I put the SIM tray back in when I was done. The owner was watching and asked why the status bar showed an "X" on the signal strength, so I told him that it was because you had to reboot after reinserting a SIM on most Android devices (as opposed to dual-SIM and iPhone devices). Though I couldn't turn off without causing the power problem, I could safely restart. Unfortunately, restarting only gave me the "Insert SIM" message at boot and nothing I could do would get it to see the inserted SIM. I tried many SIM cards but none worked. I replaced the motherboard expecting it to be a solution to both problems but only the power problems went away. The SIM card issue remained even though the SIM slot is built into the part I replaced and the part I purchased is supposed to be guaranteed, tested, clean IMEI, etc. I'm at a loss. I've taken out every unrelated component and replaced the screen again and replaced the battery so about the only thing that is common is the flex PCB with the mic, headphone jack, display connectors, etc running through it. Not sure how that could be a factor, but I'm replacing it too. In the mean time, does anyone have any suggestions for what could be wrong?
Update: A new mic/USB/headphone flex PCB fixed it. I'm not sure how that can cause the SIM card to not be detected, but I conclusively tested and that was definitely the problematic component: No SIM card detected on either motherboard with the old flex PCB, SIM card detected fine on both motherboards with the replacement flex PCB.

Hello, is your LG G2 still working with the new PCB flex?
Thanks a lot, this solution worked for me ?
i've done flash rom on Mtv Slash 3G 512 RAM Tablet, but no sim detected ....& i've followed your suggestion but no solution made...!!!
I had spent more than one month using CM13 based ROM thinking its ROM based issue. but this resolved the issue.
But now no sim issue has been resolved yet no mobile signals are working...
I have a vs980 or the Verizon lg g2. It bought it unlocked and I use T-Mobile. The data worked when I was on the stock os. I then got cm13 and everything worked good accept it wouldnt see my sim card or it would say no signal. And it had no info on the sim card in the about phone settings. So I tried a few other nightlys and nothing worked. I went down to cm12 and still I got the same error. I tried what you said here multiple times and it doesn't seem to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I found a fix! Go into settings and select Mobile networks. When your in there there should be a "preferred network type" change that to global and there you go. Now I couldn't get that to work on cm13 because the settings would crash when you try to go into mobile networks. But I got it to work on cm12 just fine
dear sir. I bought two gear s' from tmobile, out of the box one of them did that and even when swapping the sims around, it seemed to follow the watch. I called tmobile and they redid the provisioning of the sim, she said the order was stuck in some sort of loop. I never had that issue again and its been a few months already.

She said that she "re-provisioned" it. After she did that it went from no sim detected to working normally within a few minutes. This was with a brand new watch with brand new sims directly from Tmobile.
I am having this issue as well. I can not get the watch to even see my sim card at all. What may be the issue?
I'm having the same issue.
Even my SIM card is not detected. This happened after over a year of use. Is this a hardware problem? Or will flashing modem.bin fix this issue?
Hi all.
I've had my mi8 lite global for a few weeks now.
It's been great, seems to do all I need and more.
But, I've more recently been having an issue with it dropping my Sim card.
I can be using it or sitting standby and it'll suddenly flash to the lock screen and and show no Sim card found in the notification area.
Sometimes it can go a decent length of time with no issue (couple of days) while other times it'll repeatedly do it in one session.
Rebooting the phone brings it back to normal each time.
I've also tried putting my Sim in slot two and it doesn't read it all.
And another issue I have is my alarm failing, twice now.
No notification or anything. Just didn't go off.
Not sure if it's related or not.
Thanks!
I've sorted the alarm issue.
I allowed the clock to auto start.
But any tips or advice on how to sort and solve the SIM card issue?
Maybe it's the simcard itself try to test with another one
Don't have another SIM card. I can order one though.
It's also a new SIM card.
Where it's irregular, makes it difficult to prove where the issue is.
I can put my sim in an old phone but it's a faulty phone.
Does android save these kind of things to a log?

I've had 2 1TB ultras and both have had issue,

Have to restart phone for the sims to work.

It's really strange, now only sim 2 works!
I think it's a know issue with samsung as 1tb have been out of stock in the uk for weeks.
Yes, that's why I said it's best to get it replaced (not repaired).
Definitely mate, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same?
Strangely my phone reads my Vodafone sim only. EE sim isn't the recognised in either sim tray.
I had an update last night, not sure if that had anything to do with it?
I nevertheless factory reset my phone and my ee sim is working, keeping an eye on it for now.
Seems to be fine for now after factory resetting.
Looks its isolated issue no one else has experienced it with 1tb version.
I just had this issue with my s21 ultra after an update on Sunday it would say i was changing carriers and to call verizon. I have re flashed the firmware ad factory reset it but after 5-10 minutes after a restart itll kick me off the network. Got it replaced with a s23ultra but tried 2 sim and the esim in it to try and get it to work and nothing.

After all that it was my sim card which was relatively new stopped working completely! Initially it was intermittent thereafter it completely stopped. Lol
