What are the chances of a custom ROM built for another device will work on a Moto Edge+? Does Android have a good pool of default drivers for current phone hardware like Windows or Ubuntu does or are we still a long way away from that?
Not sure about custom roms for other devices but the Moto Edge+ is Treble/GSI compatible. So you could always flash one of those, no guarantees though. I don't think anyone's tried one yet. I suggest waiting till December when the official Android 11 update for burton comes out.
Any news on roms
Are any new roms under development ?
I am about to buy this phone from bestbuy. Has anyone tried gsi roms on here? If its anything like
the stylus It will be a breeze. Currently running caos android 11 with Magisk 21.1 on the stylus.

Just yesterday I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560) and immediately I rooted it. The device is running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. While I think for the price this tablet is fantastic, I want Marshmallow on this device. I don't believe hardware is a limiting factor here based on the research I did, although I am very aware that the tablet is not a flagship by any means. I got the tablet as a device to mess around with, but after hours of searching I cannot find any custom ROMs for this device. Cyanogenmod don't even support this device. This came as a huge surprise to me as this tablet is pretty popular and from 2015. I kept on looking and apparently a lot of people had trouble rooting this device, so I'm wondering if this is why there has not yet been any ROMs released for the device. The device is just about usable in this state, but coming from someone with three phones all running Android 6.0 and above (two of those devices being Nexuses) using KitKat and moreover KitKat skinned with TouchWiz is a lot to get used to.
Does anyone know of any custom ROMs for the SM-T560? Maybe I'm just blind and missed something. If there aren't any ROMs, would building a version of Cyanogenmod 13 be the best option? Also, I am very curious: Why have we not yet seen any ROMs? Popularity isn't an issue, neither is specs, the rooting process was painless for a newbie like me, so I'm really interested to know.
Thanks!

Can i use this guide to try Android Q beta on my Xperia 10 Plus ?
Every device that has Treble support is able to boot pure AOSP GSI image.
But its good to wait until someone tries it if you dont know if you would be able to get out of soft brick.
Im getting the phone in few days so i might probably try it. But TBH its pointless since Android 10 is rumored to release today and SONY should release update quite soon.
I just got a Moto G Power, replacing a UMIDIGI Power 3(don't ask). I'm currently on the stock ROM and rooted.
I'm hoping to move to a custom ROM.. Can someone let me know which custom ROM is the most stable and consistently updated? Looking for one that is kept security patch updated.
Also, has anyone tried to flash a GSI?
I can try all of these myself, just trying learn by shortcut.

I've tested a couple of times out on here which were the OmniRom and the Pixel experience. I like certain features on the Pixel experience but I think Omnirom is a bit more stable and things work better on Omnirom. I'm currently on Pixel Experience which has a few notable problems such as that I get a camera error on PE and the Bluetooth won't connect to my speakers on PE. But I like the ringtones and notification sounds better on PE. Don't get me wrong. The PE is still a usable rom though.
I tried OmniRom, Havoc, RRMix and Erfan Generic Gsi(This one was Android 11). Decided to stick to Havoc as I like customization and Havoc is next to RRMix in this. RRMix would have been my choice but I was unable to install Viper4Android successfully and hence had to settle down with the next best (Havoc with November 5 Security patch). All of them were otherwise stable. Omni was on March Security Patch if I remember right. Can't say about the update frequency as It's just over 3 weeks for me. Have fun!!.
havoc seems to be the only rom that's up to date with security patches. that's what I'm running.
Havoc. It just works and can be beautiful.
I have a Samsung J600G, the latest official rom form Samsung is android 10, and most importantly, all official roms are 32bit.
As I cannot accept the stupid fact that my phone, launched in 2018, capable of running 64bit, is running a 32bit system, I tried installing some custom roms.
I've tried havoc and lineage, both worked fine. But after years of using Samsung, I decided that a rom with oneui will give me the most comfortable experience.
Then I found and installed this rom which is a port rom from S20, running 64bit android 10. Its works perfectly for me, but it would be nice if my phone can use android 12.
So the main question is, can I do some simple work to somehow, from the latest official S20 rom, get the necessary parts onto my J6? (So like pretending my J6 is a S20 and applying a (probably modded) "software update".) Or does the whole porting process has to be done from scratch? This is not my main phone, so I'm ok with wiping everything before flashing the "update". I am also not concerned of whether it is S20, my only requirements are 64bit, root, oneui, and preferably the latest android version.
I have zero experience in making roms, so all I can do is maybe replace files, edit text files, and very simple things of similar nature. I can use adb, odin, and twrp.
I have tried doing some research on the topic, but it seems to be quite diversified in terms of the file structure and format of android roms, and some posts are from a decade ago, so it didn't help much. Any help, suggestions and links are appreciated, thank you.
Hi!
Wondering if someone have tried out Flamingo OS on Oneplus 7t Pro and have some insights if its any good and suggest best practice on how to flash it?
Unfortunately there is no thread here on xda on this rom and there is only Telegram (I cannot use Telegram), so I thought I try asking question here.
On some roms you need to flash from oos11 if the rom is based on android 12 and some roms you need to have oos 12 to flash a rom based on Android 13. I still haven't got oos 12 so would it be better to flash Flamingo 12 or can I flash Flamingo 13 from oos 11? I know I have to unlock oem from oos 11 or i will loose windevine L1, so I will do that first.
If any one have some pointers I would be grateful.
Flamingo OS is no longer updated.
"So here is a formal obituary for flamingo.
Since neither me nor Pranav has / can spent enough time towards development, there will be no more updates until further notice. Feel free to switch to other roms, idrc. So when we actually get free (none of us knows when exactly so there's that), if we still have the passion left then we might continue from where we left off, but no guarantees whatsoever. Had a great run for about a year I think? Anyways thanks for all your support, blah blah blah. Cheers"
That's sad. Have to find another rom then. I might try crdroid as it seems to active.
