i notice that my phone have problem of losing connections (phone signal) quite often which causes the phone cant make or receive call. i usually go outstations and everytime when i travel i have this problem. i thought it was the problem from the android 1.6 but after updating to android 2.1 through the SE website the problem is still there. recently i end up with the conclusion that my phone have problem with GSM signal, whenever i go to outstation where there is no 3g/WCDMA in the area but suppose to have the GSM signal i got this problem. please bear in mind that i have change and tried the setting for WCDMA ONLY,GSM ONLY & WCDMA/GSM PREFERED but the problem still persist, and please bear in mind i have tested with my other phone and it works fine at those places. please advise if this is the problem of the phone itself or just the setting of my phone. Exactly same case here,losing signal without no reason.Only one time I saw all 4 bars.Other phones works just fine.OS updated to 2.1,problem remains same,and that also affects to battery duration.

ive been floating around the forums for some time as an unregistered user but i now have to resort to posting for help.

ok so first of all id like to know if it matters that the serial on the phone does not match that on the sticker behind the battery although the IMEI number does,from what ive read on the forums this may be because i flashed a non official ROM?
when i originally flashed to ICS the signal was poor but i still used the phone and now i have no signal at all at home,
if i try and dial a number i either get `mobile network not available or not registered with network.
ive flashed the phone with so many roms,kernels and modems now that im in a complete mess with what ive actually done.
i checked with my provider `3 UK` if the phone was/is blacklisted but its not,ive had the sim replaced with a new one and also tried another 3 payg sim.
im not normally one to give up but i admit im getting close to it.
in hind sight i wish id taken a full back up whilst on gingerbread or even never upgraded to ICS in the first place ..ah well
so my thanks in advance if someone can help me and apologies in advance also if ive missed any information out.

just to add to this,
i just stood outside and scanned for networks,the 3 network appeared but when i select it it says:
your sim card does not allow a connection to this network
i spoke to 3 just incase its their end but they insist its nothing to do with their sim and is my phone thats the problem.
this is a sim only contract by the way the phone did not come from 3.
so u hav no signal??

i have no signal or at best its extremely poor,just enough to scan for a network.
what do you mean imei may have been reset? the imei is the same as it was originally.
and ive flashed lots of stock roms and had no luck as of yet.

i tried to post the link of where i got the file but im not allowed as im still noobed.
phone has 1 signal bar just about but keeps dropping to nothing,if i scan for networks operators it finds o2 but not 3

i dont see what else to change in the network settings.

I meant have you entered the networks settings as supplied by 3 or are you hoping its auto set up after multiple flashing you may have wrong CSC .

no my problem is not solved however i have some updates after driving around the area (going to the pub)
ive not changed any network setting as i see nothing there to change.
i managed to get a few signal bars and searched for available networks,3 was ther,when i selected it i got this message:
unable to change networks while data service is in use.stop using current data service and select another available network?
i said ` ok`
...registering on 3...
...registered on 3 network.
after this i was able to make a call.
i noted some info at this point incase it has any relevance :
Signal bars: 2
signal strength -109 dbm 2 asu
Mobile network type:9
service state: in service
network:3
phone number : unknown
this happened in one spot on a 1 mile journey.
and now im back at home the signal is back to nothing.
the 3 signal in this area is normally pretty good so something isnt right

mobile number:unknown
ive always had a good signal at home and for all of the journey i just made but now it seems to only pick up in a very limited spot.
ive not entered any network settings at all,like i said theres not much i can see that needs changing?

I don't know if its your issue,but I had several phones on 3 which all had awful signal strength- I just changed to a different network.

3 isnt the problem here,everything was fine until i started fixing things that arent broke, and im old enough to know better :S
ive been with 3 for as long as i can remember with lots of different phones and never had any signal problems where i live up until now.

Weird. I have exactly the same problem. except Im on irish network meteor. same symptoms. ben on ics for ages, flashed a cm9 rom. nothing unusual,bam. no signal or very little.
try flashing NEKF2 or NELP3 modem
I have issues with 3 UK too, mainly because I like having the option to switch back to 2G to 3G to H, but 3 doesn't like the idea of GPRS so that's out the equation Plus, the network is pretty piss poor. I'm looking for a better modem, in all hope.

my S3 on orange has no signal! Currently running cyanogenmod and today lost all signal. I tried the obs stuff (manual network refresh, off/on, battery out, sim out, new sim) and still have no signal.
I have signal strength of 91 dbm 11 asu, but no idea what that actually means.
Any ideas? Could just put a new ver of Android on, or is this hardware fault? Defo not a network issue as everyone else I asked on Orange/EE is fine.
Does your IMEI and serial number in settings match those under your battery?
If they do then flash a full stock rom and factory reset, if still the same then likely to be hardware.

I put Cofface's cyano into my Redmi 3 a week ago and it worked fine except for the network signal that seemed to me to be weaker than on stable or dev miui rom. Yesterday I don't know what i did, i just switched the network type from the services menu (*#*#4636#*#*) to see the signal strenght of 2g/3g/4g and after doing that, the phone stopped to take signal with my SIM in any network type. So i switched back through MiFlash (and selected flash all option), to the Dev and also to the stable rom, but now I just have 4G working.
I tried to put again CM and i get no signal in every network type, even trying to restore a nandroid backup that i made when the phone worked. I also tried to flash through fastboot the NON-HSLO.bin took from developer rom, but nothing changed. What could it be? Where I live the 4G is not everywhere so most of the time I'll be without signal and it would be really frustrating.
I tried my sim in a Samsung phone and it takes both 2g/3g (the phone doesn't have 4g) , but trying another sim in my phone (of the same carrier) gives me the same result of above : only 4g . While on CM that sim could connect (only 4g) but mine not.
Please help me! :crying:

EDIT2: following some guides I erased modemst1 and modemst2 but now I'm unable to get IMEI and I have unknown baseband

I have the same problem of very bad cellular signals.
with the same carrier, when other phones 2 samsung, 1 chinese (cheap unbranded), one very old nokia all have good reception, xiaomi redmi 3 pro is inaccessible from other phones.
today I'll try to install some signal booster apps from thestreet.com/story/11733410/1/7-apps-that-improve-smartphone-reception.html hopping for the best.

Ive been facing some network issues on my new OP3 (bought 1 month back)
The phone didnt have any problem at all till yesterday when there was a sudden loss of signals in both my airtel SIMS.
OP3 is recognizing the SIM cards but doesnt show any signal. I tried swapping SIMS, my SIMS are working in other phones whereas other SIMS still dont show signal in mine.
However there were 2 instances where i regained signal and was able to make calls while is was at a particular location, but even that lasted for just 20-30 min.
I was using android vers 3.2.4 when this problem happened, tried updating to 3.2.7 (latest) but it still hasnt fixed the issue.
Thought it was a null IMEI problem, but Settings show IMEI nos. of both the SIMS
Tried manually selecting networks, mostly it says cannot connect...sometimes it doesnt do anything
Tried changing preferred networks in *#*#4636#*#* , hasnt helped either
And yes I tried soft and hard resetting too, hasnt helped.
Please do suggest any probable solutions.... Thanks You
