With the release of the most recent EMUI system update, MeeTime has been made into an independent app. The brand-new version contains an abundance of handy features that optimize the communication experience.
[More Convenient Access]
MeeTime comes pre-installed as an independent app on some models running EMUI 10.1/Magic UI 3.1. Although the feature can currently still be accessed on older models in the Phone/Contacts app, to ensure usability and to facilitate possible feature extensions, we're ultimately planning to make it exclusively an independent app.
No more blurry calls: Enjoy HD quality and beautification effects
The new MeeTime app supports 1080P video definition, so you don't have to worry about unclear images and frame freezes during calls. What's more, when you're in places with poor network coverage, such as a garage or subway, MeeTime draws on super-resolution technology to compensate for any possible loss in image quality, and deliver clear and smooth video calls. There are also beautification and low-light enhancement features, so you can make sure you're always looking your best.

No more messy backgrounds: Explore fun new settings
Not all video calls come at the right time. If you don't want your friends to see your messy bedroom, use the background changing feature to replace your bedroom wall with a 360-degree, panoramic background with one touch. In no time at all, you can be sitting on a vast grassland, sailing on the blue ocean, or even appearing beside walking penguins, flowing water, or floating hot air balloons…
Free up your hands: Multitask like a boss with voice commands
MeeTime gives you the option of using voice controls, which come in handy when your hands are full. You can answer calls with your Huawei speaker, and if you have a HUAWEI Vision at home, you can even transfer video calls to your TV and take advantage of its larger display. This collaboration among devices means you can seamlessly continue tasks on different devices, and voice control makes multi-tasking easier than ever.
What's more, your child can answer and make voice and video calls on the HUAWEI Children's Watch 3 Pro Super Version, so you can make sure that they're safe at all times.
No more fiddly screenshots: Screen sharing takes the hassle out of explaining things
As mobile phones get more and more advanced, some family members or friends may get confused about certain features or settings, and reach out to you for help. How would you assist them? Sending screenshots and explaining with voice messages can be time- and labor-intensive, but with MeeTime's screen sharing feature, you can show the person you're talking to how to use a feature in real time. You can even draw on the screen and make annotations, to draw their attention to the important stuff.
You can also use MeeTime to screen share in some third-party apps, making communication quicker and easier.
Get a new perspective on things
With MeeTime, you have the power to utilize peripheral devices, which gives you a brand-new perspective during video calls. MeeTime can virtualize peripheral cameras, such as the DJI Mavic 2 camera drone or the Drift X1 motion camera, so they can transfer video footage back to your phone in real time, and you can use it during video calls. This means you can make voice or video calls with a camera drone or motion camera.
Whether you're admiring the city from high above with a drone, or doing exciting sports like skiing and surfing, you can use MeeTime to share the view with your friends on the other side of the globe, with no delays!
As well as all of these advantages, the MeeTime app also stores all your call records and contact information, just like the Phone and Contacts apps do. Now that it's an independent app, you can put MeeTime wherever you like on the home screen, so you can access it quickly and easily.
So, want to experience what MeeTime has to offer for yourself? Activate the app on your phone now to enjoy convenient, high-quality, and exciting MeeTime calls. In the future, we'll be releasing even more exciting features, so keep an eye out for updates!

Sound familiar? This is what happens every time my girlfriend asks me to help her choose clothes online. I get nervous because I just can't keep up with her! Her eyes hit 200 rpm as she collects every last bit of information about each dress, and her keyword capture rate is probably about 93.6%: she's become a shopping bot.
As a mere mortal, there's no way I'm going to be able to keep up with her. She even has a lot of other crazy ideas about how to optimize our shopping experience:
She wants to voice chat because I type too slowly.
She doesn't want to hold her phone to her ear the whole time.
She wants to be able to share her phone screen in real-time.
She wants to be able to doodle and make annotations on the screen, so I don't overlook the important stuff…

Part of me wants to say “forget it, you can go shopping, but leave me out of it…”
But… part of me is curious, too. What if there was some kind of technology which could do all of this? I could finally keep up with her!
So I did some research, and… Yes, it is possible! As long as you're both using Huawei phones.
In some shopping apps on a Huawei phone, you'll see a small button on the product page.
With this button, you can activate a HUAWEI MeeTime call. Touch it, and a list appears showing all the contacts you can connect with.
Select a contact (for example, your girlfriend), and a message will appear, asking if you want to share your screen. The other party will also see a similar message on their phone.
Once you're connected, a floating status bar will appear on the screen. Your contact will be able to see your screen, or you can ask them to share their screen.
Now, if you're like me and you always get confused about the colors and versions your girlfriend is talking about, you can stop worrying! Just touch the brush button on the status bar, and the screen magically transforms into a drawing board, so you can leave annotations and doodles, and no-one will miss any vital information!
This feature is really cool, and can help solve a lot of problems when you're shopping online – it's not just for shopping! So if you have a Huawei phone, it's worth giving it a go!
Also, as this is a system-level feature, it's smoother than most third-party apps with similar functions. And it's more secure and reliable too!
Huawei calls this capability HUAWEI CaaS Kit. It realizes system-level audio and video calling among Huawei phones, apps, and partner devices. So, if you're thinking "I wish this function could be used in situations other than shopping", it definitely can! CaaS Kit Lite is now open to developers, so any app which have audio and video calls can integrate CaaS Kit Lite and make system-level calls. If you're interested, you can find more on the Huawei Developer website:
https://developer.huawei.com/consumer/en/caas-kit
Okay, that's all I have time for. My girlfriend wants to share screens again…
With the launch of the EMUI 10.1 update on the Huawei P40 series, MeeTime became a standalone app. This update made the feature easier to access, and also introduced new MeeTime features, including screen sharing, device interconnection, and background changing.

New MeeTime screen sharing feature
No more fiddly screenshots
With MeeTime's brand-new screen sharing feature, you can instantly share what you're looking at with others, so you don't have to keep taking and sending screenshots. By enabling screen sharing during a call, you and the person you're talking to can see the same screen at the same time.
You can also both make annotations in different colors to highlight important information, which makes it easier to communicate exactly what you're talking about.
With MeeTime screen sharing, you can do more with less: You can show your family members how to use certain features on their phone, discuss which flights and hotels you want to book for your upcoming trip with a friend, and show your clients the designs and plans you've been working. Add to this its fantastic voice call quality, and MeeTime screen sharing can make a huge difference to the ways we exchange information.
Get even more out of your smart TV
Connect to more devices and apps
On EMUI 10, MeeTime calls can be freely transferred between devices, so you can seamlessly switch your video calls to HUAWEI or HONOR Vision devices, and take advantage of their large displays.
The new Multi-Device Control Panel on EMUI 10.1 further intelligentizes the cross-device experience. When you want to make a MeeTime video call, your phone will be able to detect, find, and recommended the most suitable device, and you can seamlessly switch to it.
MeeTime on EMUI 10.1 also works with more third-party devices. With the Drift motion camera, you can send incredible images to your friends in real time, whether you're rappelling down a mountain or surfing waves. And with a piece of conference equipment, holding a video conference is just as easy as making a video call.
Because MeeTime now works with more devices, you can use it across a wider range of scenarios. Shopping, recruitment, and design apps can all integrate MeeTime to add voice calls, video calls, and screen sharing functions, so you can share your screen with your friends when you're deciding which products to purchase, hold interviews, and present design works.
Fancy a change of setting?
Travel to different countries in the blink of an eye
Not all video calls come at the right time. If you don't want your friends to see your messy bedroom, or that you're still working overtime, you can change the video background in real-time during MeeTime calls.
In EMUI 10.1, you can select from a range of fun video backgrounds and instantly appear in your chosen setting. You can add some excitement to your calls, avoid embarrassment, and protect your privacy. To choose your background, you just touch the pen-shaped icon in the upper left corner before or during the call. You can appear in a canyon, by the sea, on an open plain, or in a forest.
The latest version of MeeTime also provides dynamic video backgrounds, so you can appear with walking penguins, flowing water, or floating hot air balloons during your video calls.
The new features brought to MeeTime in EMUI 10.1 have raised it beyond being a simple video communication tool. You can now experience the convenience of exchanging ideas with colleagues, and the joy of sharing important moments with your loved ones.

The EMUI has evolved for several years and is getting stronger and more user-friendly day-by-day. For heavy smartphone users like me, I know basically every small feature of the system, however, I found some of them particularly useful. Today I’m going to share with you some of the less-noticeable features which help me every day.
The most easy-to-use to-do list
How many of you keep the habit of listing to-dos? For procrastinators like myself, I found it difficult to get things done if I’m without a TDL (“to-do list”). And here is when the to-do of the EMUI Notes app got discovered by me!
I know some of you might wonder, there are tons of TDL apps on the market, why should I use a stock app? I’ll tell you why: easy to use and simple to maintain! You just go to your Notes app, or add a To-dos widget on your screen, and you’re good to go!
The To-dos is very straightforward yet useful enough: just add your to-do and set a timer or a location (or not), and mark the importance (if needed), and it’s done! It’s so fulfilling to cross items off, and feel the happiness of getting things done!
Multi-screen collaboration
When you talk about EMUI’s amazing features, the one feature that cannot be missed is Multi-screen collaboration.
When I’m at work, or when I have a low battery, I don’t want to raise my phone too constantly in case my thoughts are interrupted. Therefore I will enable the [Huawei Share] on my phone, and put it close to my Huawei laptop. And bang! My phone screen will appear on my laptop, and I don’t need to stare at the small phone screen anymore! I can look for files, reply to my messages, and even answer my calls on the PC!
A super cool and super-easy way to manage files
This one is not that different from the second feature. It’s actually included in the "Multi-screen collaboration" feature, but it’s so convenient and useful that I have shared with everyone who uses a Huawei phone and a Huawei laptop: File cooperation!
Just go to your phone storage and find any files which you want to view or edit. You can click it directly and start editing it on your laptop; or, you can just drag it out to a PC folder!
And, don’t worry about the screen-on time will drain out your battery. Once you start operating the phone on your laptop, your phone screen will automatically go dark, saving battery for you!
Ring-tone maker
I don’t know about you guys, but I am a person who simply hates the ringtones which come with the system. No offense to the ringtones and to those who use them, it’s just a habit of me.
If you happen to be one of my kind, you will be truly grateful for this feature: ring-tone maker!
Just download the music you like, and play it with the Huawei Music app, where you can find a small bell icon. Tap on the bell icon, and you are free to define your own ringtone!
I know some other music apps might also support this feature, but those apps sometimes cannot set 2 different ringtones for the 2 SIM cards I have. So in the end, it’s the Huawei Music app’s ring-tone maker that wins my heart!
These are the 4 small lesser-known tricks that I found truly useful for my daily life. If you haven’t tried them out, try it now! I'm also trying all the new features on my recently purchased Mate 40 Pro! If you want to know about EMUI tricks on the new flagship, leave a comment and let me know! See you next time!

Thanks to the DDPai mini 5 dashcam, which supports the distributed image capability of HUAWEI MeeTime, you can hit the road on your own, and never feel lonely.
By switching from the phone camera to the DDPai mini 5 dashcam, the person you're talking to will be able to view the scenery along the way, as it appears to you. The distributed image capabilities even allow for the parties to share multiple perspectives in real time.
MeeTime x drones, new horizons brought into view
You can also share a view from up above with others, captured by a camera drone in real time, during a MeeTime video call.
To achieve this, simply tap on the MeeTime icon on the drone controller' screen, select a contact and device to initiate a MeeTime call, and fly your drone to begin sharing the lofty view that it has captured. This equips your drone to serve as the phone's virtual camera, giving both yourself and the person you're calling, a remarkable opportunity to appreciate spectacular scenery together – with no delay!
MeeTime breaks through boundaries walling off devices, facilitating seamless cross-device connections, and endowing video communications with enriching perspectives, thanks to HD-quality video calling, and the ability to transmit the drone' images to the phone in the blink of an eye. The other party can even switch the video call to a larger screen device, such as a HUAWEI Vision TV, to enjoy truly breathtaking video imagery.
MeeTime x motion camera, for sharing exhilarating life moments
If you're a sports or outdoors enthusiast, you'd be remiss not to try out MeeTime for yourself. With a Drift X1 motion camera, it enables you to use the camera imagery during video calls, rather than that from the phone's lens, and send awe-inspiring images in the midst of a thrilling activity or excursion.
Whether it's cruising on a mountain bike, or racing on skateboard, you'll be able share your movement in real time, so that the other party can experience the thrill of each bump and turn, as you do.
If this article has piqued your interest, by all means, try out MeeTime on your device, and experience a next-level video calling experience that'll blow your mind!

3. Best ColorOS Features
There are so many personalization features in Reno8 5G, and these are the ones that I like and useful to me.

[Lock Screen Magazine]
I will have a different beautiful image to look at every time I need to unlock my phone. For me, it’s like having a surprise. Also, I can access some news and information related to the image and I don’t need to unlock the phone to access it. If I want to, I can add my own photos to the carousel wallpapers.[Always on Display]
It is interesting that I can add text and image to it. I can put a reminder for other people not to touch or play with my phone
[Google Lens in Camera and Photo Gallery]
Another awesome feature embedded in phone’s camera and photo gallery. As we know, we use google lens to find information on something from an image. Usually, I will need to access the Lens app and work from there. But this time, the Lens icon has already inside the camera and photo gallery. So, I just view the photo from the gallery and press Lens icon, VOILA! The information related to the photo is there. Efficient! Love this!
in Camera appIn Photo galleryResult and tools to search further
In terms of productivity, these are really helpful :
[Multi-screen connect]
It provides seamless connectivity between my laptop and phone, no more cables needed. Moving my files is as easy as select, drag and drop. I can control my phone from my laptop too.
Since Reno8 5G doesn’t have an SD card slot, at certain period, I will need to move some of my files from phone to laptop.
(in Windows 10, drag and drop might not work, so after files are selected from the phone, click send and choose multi-screen connect)
[One-handed mode]
There are instances that I have one hand occupied. And, at the same time, I need to respond to urgent text or access other function. This feature comes very handy to that situation.[Flexible windows – mini mode]
This is useful when I need to work on two apps at the same time[Raise to wake]
I just raise my phone and it automatically brings me to the lock screen. No double tap or pressing side button.[Partial Screenshot]
Before this, I need to crop the full screenshot image if I want to use partial of it. With this feature, I can skip one step. Effective!
I am glad to know that OPPO goes beyond to provide security and protect the privacy of smartphone user. Enable these features are a must!
[Pseudo base station blocking]
In Singapore, we have DNC (Do Not Call) service to block incoming calls and SMSs from tele-marketer, but it does not always work for fraudulent calls/SMSs from scammers. This feature will provide a shield by intercepting messages/calls from counterfeit numbers used by criminals. It is important for me to enable this feature because I am so tired receiving spam calls and messages.[Require password to power off]
This feature is very straightforward. If my phone gets stolen, I still have time to locate it[Privacy Dashboard]
This is like a compilation of which app use what function related to permission given to the apps.
Sometimes I do random a check for location and camera.
I don’t want to see any app with no permission using these two functions.
If I want to change permission for certain app, it can be done from here as well.
Cool features that I am not using (for now) but it’s worth mentioning because they are so awesome and might be useful for me one day.
[Smart notification hiding]
If you feel annoyed by your close one who likes to peep/check your phone when there’s notifications, this feature will save you. If the front camera detects someone other than phone owner is looking at the phone, the content of notification will be hidden. How cool is that?[System cloner]
System cloner will create a separate system for certain app and a separate password is needed to access it. It’s like having 2 rooms with 2 keys in 1 place. I like to have this option, it might be useful for me one day.[Retouch appearance in video calls]
I was intrigued when I found this in settings. When using video call, of course I want to be in my best look. And the Reno8 5G has a setting for that. Currently, it’s only working for Facebook Messenger. Hopefully, it will be extended to other apps, e.g. Zoom, WhatsApp, Instagram.
[Air Gestures]
This is actually a very awesome concept since scrolling through social media has been a part of daily activity. Scrolling without even touching the screen, that is what Air Gestures about. Front camera will detect your palm and flick your palm up or down to scroll.
Air Gestures experience has not been smooth for me. Sometimes the palm motion is not detected so I need to put it at a little odd angle for the camera to detect.
As I said before, this is a very awesome concept, but improvement is needed.
4. Camera
To be continued in Part 3.
