Note 20 Wireless Charging Not Working When Phone Is Powered Off - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Questions & Answers

Just as the title states, my Note 20 (T-Mobile US) wireless charging is not working when the phone is powered off. Once I turn on the phone, it works fine.
My Note 10+ 5G, also a T-Mobile branded phone, wireless charging works just fine, whether it's powered on or off.
I've tried with & without a case, rotating the phone from portrait to landscape, still no wireless charging when the phone is powered off.
Wired charging works fine, powered on or off.
Any suggestions are welcome. ?

I think I figured it out.
Granted, the solution doesn't make sense (to me), or, chalk it up to a coincidental unknown bug:
I found Wireless Power Share was turned off.
Turning it back on seems to have done the trick, as wireless charging is now working fine, whether the phone is powered on or off.

Charging while phone is OFF?

Ever since the update to ICS, my phone will not stay off while charging.
Anyone experiencing the same thing?
Next question...WHY would they set it up this way?
Like your phone will actually start itself while it is charging without you touching anything? That's SUPER creepy. Haven't heard of anyone else experiencing this particular problem. Does your power button work alright? It may be getting slightly stuck from you holding it to power down.
Power button works perfectly fine. I will turn the phone off...and it IS off...plug it in...it turns on. I try turning it off while plugged in...it will turn back on immediately...like a reboot.
Okay...I just tried it again...it works fine on the AC charger.
When I was using my 12V DC (car lighter) to USB adapter on the weekend, the above behavior was happening.
Hahaha, gave the phone a bit of an adrenaline rush. Happy you got it figured out though and that it's not a hardware problem. Happy charging.
With the combination you had below, my guess was the phone was going into docking mode (I had that happen) which one of the objectives is to become a desk clock (or gps?) so it always stays on. If you need to charge the phone FAST, you may need a different setup - check with CurrentWidget to see if you are getting close to the 1 amp charging current the phone will do.

Car charger only working when phone turned off

I've had my car charger for a while and it always worked fine with my S3. One day, unbeknownst to me, a part of the charger had unscrewed so when I put it in the fuse blew in the cigarette lighter slot.
I've fixed the charger and replaced the fuse but now it won't charge my S3 when it's on. I've checked it with a HTC One X and that charges fine, and it will charge the S3 if it is turned off, but won't charge it if it's turned on. Any ideas?
Checked with another s3 and that charges normally as expected. Really puzzling why one charges and another doesn't?

Wireless Charging & Wifi Calling?

I just got my wireless charging OEM back cover for my S5 yesterday, along with 2 charging pads. One thing I've noticed is that when I let the phone sit on the wireless charger for over an hour, it seems to drop the wifi calling and switch over to cellular.
Anyone else had this happen?
I'll have to study the phenomenon a bit more to try to get to the bottom of it.
Well, I charged all night on the same QI charger and the issue didn't happen. I'll keep an eye on it.

LG V30 not wirelessly charging

Hey Guys
I'm in love w/ my LG V30, except I think my phone might have a major fault - it can't charge wirelessly. I have a samsung quick charge charging pad, which was able to wirelessly quick charge my S7E. When I put my v30 on it, it acknowledges that it's charging, except that it doesn't actually charge the phone at all... the phone battery actually drains over time.
Now, I read somewhere it doesn't support wireless quick charging, which is a shame, but putting the phone on a samsung wireless quick charger shouldn't DRAIN the phone, should it?
Is there a difference between a samsung wireless charger vs a generic qi-enabled charger that is causing an issue here? I really don't want to return the phone bc everything else seems to be working perfectly.
as a confirmation, I went and bought a generic qi charger on amazon just now. luckily they are cheap. Going to check if its something to do w/ my charger... but I never had issues w/ my S7E and this particular charger. Frustrating.
FWIW .. working fine on mine. Generic charger from Amazon
Just confirming that wireless charging is working with my V30 and the TYLT Wireless Charger.
https://www.amazon.com/TYLT-Wireles...sr=8-1&keywords=tylt+vu+wireless+charger&th=1
Last night I placed the V30 on the charger on my nightstand at a 28% charge and woke up this morning to a 100% charge. So I'm not seeing any issues wireless charging after my first night with the phone.
I'll test it on my wife's Samsung wireless charger later on.
well fml. I went to work and plugged my phone into my USB-C charger, the phone wouldn't charge at all. It was plugged in, battery properties said "plugged in - not charging". Something is up with my phone.
I restarted the phone, and now it seems to be charging fine via the USB-C charger, but I don't like this one bit. I shouldn't have to reboot my phone to get it to properly take a charge. Once my new charger arrives i'll test it. If I get the same results, I'm returning this phone for a replacement, which sucks.
FWIW mine charges wire-lessly just fine on my Samsung charging pad...
got my hands on another samsung wireless charger (non fast-charge model).
It's the flat hockey puck model. Fortunately, it appears to be charging now. So it looks like strangely something has gone wrong w/ my other wireless charger. I will continue to monitor this issue closely, but it looks like wireless charging is okay on my phone, and it's some sort of fluke issue with that particular charger. If anyone else sees any strange issues w/ wireless charging, please report. Perhaps we can narrow down the problem... if it's phone or charger related.
I would be quick to blame the charger, but as far as I know, the charger worked just fine w/ my S7E for the longest time.

Good to know that version works. Got a couple of free ones when I got my S6's.

Just don't put it on the Qi wireless charging pad. There, Qi wireless charging is "disabled".
If you don't want the phone on (and why wouldn't you?) just turn the phone off and plug in, instead of using Qi wireless charging pad.
If I'm sleeping I have my phone face down on bedside table, sound and vibration scheduled to be off, and plugged in charging. But since it's also my alarm, I have the sound scheduled to come back on a couple minutes before the alarm.
I have several USB-C 10ft/3 meter charging cords (you can get 3 for $8 with free shipping online).

This Qi wireless charging pad automatic turn on feature is great for when your power button malfunctions. Phones get older, things break.
On the Motorola Quark series (Droid Turbo/Moto Turbo/Moto Maxx) several people were able to figure out whether it was their power button that had jammed or whether their phone had actually died. Phone wouldn't turn on.
We told them [B"]Go to a carrier store. Put the phone on one of the Qi wireless charging pads on display. "[/b] If it turns on, it's the button. If it doesn't, you've got bigger issues.

I've read in another forum that a Qi wireless charger will turn the phone on to charge it- does any know if this is how it works? If the phone is off, the Qi charger will turn it on and then perform a charging? What if it is drained completely?

The Qi Wireless Charger works whether your phone is charged or not.. I went to the Verizon store and asked to see the charger demo'd... I placed my powered off, Fully Charged, Broken-power-button-Droid Turbo on the charger and it Came to life.
I immediately configured the phone with an alternate power button app to control the screen on/off. FYI None of the apps I found will actually power the phone on from off, but will control the screen once it is powered.
I actually tried everything in this forum, short of the disassembly of the phone but that was next...
The program download.. Reboot Fast Boot; I couldn't get it to download correctly. after about 3 hours I quit... drove to the store and the rest is history. So Glad Not to have Lost everything!..

Luckily for many, it was "just" the power button.
Many people then actually bought a pad for the first time to keep their phones on until they could get the power button repaired.
