Different challenges when entering the Chinese Market
Because of tighter restrictions on releasing Apps in China and the uniqueness of the market, developers often have a number of questions and concerns when thinking about releasing their Apps, which range from monetization and data privacy to game licensing.
Varying requirements by app category
The Chinese government strictly controls the release of some Applications, particularly games, to mobile users and these restrictions can vary from category to category. The App categories shown on the right-hand side of the screen, like education, tools, and Photo & Video, can be released on AppGallery without needing licenses. However, categories such as Health & Fitness, Finance, and News & Reading, shown on the bottom left of your screen, are subject to obtaining ICP Licenses and Computer Software Copyright Certificates. Games are under the strictest control and require additional documentation to be in place before they can be released.
Find all you need on the platform
Huawei has created an easy-use online platform for developers, which will quickly help developers identify if their apps require any additional licenses or documentation. And the video has demonstrated how to query application qualifications on the self-service platform.

One of the app’s most impressive features is how it uses Huawei HiAI Engine to deliver a powerful tool to transform a recipe image into a serialized form stored in the app. Bartek and Michal’s presentation gave attendees real insight and pointers into the technology behind this innovation.
Also on the night, an expert panel discussed Integrating Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Core Kits and beyond. Panelists on the evening were Wahib Ul Haq, Andreas Zimmer, Giovanni Laquidara and Marvin Vogl.
Finally, one lucky attendee was drawn as the winner of a fabulous Huawei GT2 Watch.
HDG is a platform for developers who have common interests towards Huawei technologies to learn knowledge, exchange opinions with others, and connect with more developers. There was so much to discuss at the first HDG Germany event that we are already looking forward to seeing another event very soon – watch this space.
