This looks pretty interesting to say the least. I want to give it a try, but need to wait for Samsung to ship out my tablet first.
That being said, I feel a bit weary having to install software on my computer to make this run. The website itself also appears to be fairly barren, and not very confidence inspiring in terms of support for the rather expensive app. And lastly, you only have one post on these xda forums, which isn't necessarily alarming but does raise a few questions in regards to your motives - are you the creator of the app or have any affiliation with it? It seems a bit suspicious to only have a single post on these forums and it's to advertise a $15 app.

I understand where you're coming from, it does seem a bit sketchy, and after some digging around, it does appear that he is not the developer. The actual developer is KeloCube and is from Finland. He is legit new developer, who is very responsive to emails, opened to any feature suggestions, etc..
That being said, the app itself (price went down to $10) is truly reliable and performs really well. From many apps in the similar category I've tried, it outperforms them all. This one is the least sluggish and has the lowest input latency by far. The reason being that the app was originally meant to turn your tablet into a graphical pad and needed to be as precise and responsive as possible.
The software is necessary to install the required drivers, as it supports pressure-sensitive stylus when using your tablet into a graphical pad for Photoshop, graphical design and stuff, and to set the correct IP when connecting over wifi.
Been using the app for about 3 weeks pretty much everyday for university and haven't encountered a single problem yet. It supports 120hz over a USB-C connexion too, which is nice. Although your PC must meet certain requirements and your tablet refresh rate must be 120hz (obviously).
I'm in no way endorsed or have any affiliation with him.
I just like to support smaller developers who often deliver high quality apps that may very well be superior and perform better than the ones more commonly used, and I feel they deserve more recognition.

My S7+ comes in the mail soon ... I've use Spacedesk on my previous Tab S3 via usb.
Does anyone know of anything like this for Mac?
I'm using a similar app called "Duet". Just like this one you have to install an app on your PC, but the performance has been very solid. It supports Air Connections or USB Cable Connections. To use the air connection both have to be on the same Wifi network. It's been flawless for my use over the last few weeks. I tried the tablets native Windows screensharing feature, which worked well, except it doesn't keep the tablets screen active and it doesn't count the use of the mouse on the PC so it would disconnect every 10 minutes unless I turned the power settings to not turn off. It was just a pain. With Duet I have it set to auto-connect, so as soon as I turn my work computer on it automatically connects my tablet and uses it as an extra monitor. I believe its' only $9 as well.
Samsung Tab s7 now natively supports screen extensions. You can use your tab as 2nd monitor now. I am not sure about Mac, but I use it frequently on windows. Should be same with Mac but can't really comment
If you are having problems with the native support, you can always try SpaceDesk. Used to use it on my S6. Worked very well. .

I just installed the demo version. I have set up the display, but I can't finger paint in Photoshop. I can use my finger to control tools in Photoshop, but the image does not react to my finger moving a brush. Any ideas ?
I purchased the app for Android. It does not work as advertised with Photoshop.
You can access Photoshop, but you can't interact at all with the image (no brushes, masks, selection tools, healing, etc).

I have used these forums as my main resource for android for a while now, and this is my first time having to post a question because everything is usually so well documented.
I bought a nook color a while ago, and have love it. I take college classes at night, and obviously would love to use it during said classes. Getting books, and PDF's for it are easy enough, but i am looking for an app to take notes with. I am not a huge fan of using a touchscreen keyboard to take notes which i have done in the past. Does anyone know of a solid handwriting recognition app that would be useful for class? or any other applications that would be useful for class in general?

I don't think it may work fine for that purpose at least you have a stylus and a handwriting app cause its kinda annoying to take fast notes in this keyboard wether you use portrait or landscape mode because of the size

So far, the best I have seen for handwriting recognition on android works like so:

Wait
Omfg, it guessed wrong, rewrite word
Rinse, repeat until it gets one word right

I did see an handwriting recognition app that is similar to how the old palm pilots used to do hwr, but i hated using in on the palm, and still hate it on android.

This is the best app I've found so far. My biggest problem has actually been the NC's screen. There don't seem to be enough contact points or something to make for accurate enough writing.
Can't wait for the BT day either.
I mostly use my Nook Color as a supplement to my desktop at home in college. We are a big Google Apps school so we share everything over Google Docs. I use quickoffice to access my google docs from my nook and view my presentations and notes no there. I do everything except take notes on there, because its just not possible. Wait for bluetooth and then we might have progress.

Also, I did see (but didn't buy) a stylus made for ipad and other capacitative touch screens (such as nook color screen). It was $14.99 at microcenter in the ipad accessories section. Could work well in combination with a sketchpad type app... not handwriting recognition, but just handwriting.
Thanks for all the input guys, sadly it seems that i will have to wait until we get BT working. I have been paying attention to the progress of some of the people working on enabling BT. Does anyone know if there is a particular BT initiative that has been making more progress over the others?
At the moment there is only one person that I see working on it in the bluetooth thread.
My plan (I will start using my NC for classes tomorrow) is to use an app called blackink. You can have different notebooks for class and either draw notes or type notes. You can also sync to evernote and dropbox. At the very least I will be using evernote, dropbox and a scanner to minimize the files I keep from classes. But yes, if a working BT happens note taking in class will be much easier!
Seriously, what happened to taking notes, then transcribing them later, adding details, revising? For me it helps solidify the information in my WET data storage.
I teach first year English, am a grad student, and I use this thing with taking notes, reading pdfs, etc. The best setup I've gotten really fast with is using Evernote (which syncs between my ios devices and my Macbook) with the SlideIT keyboard. Certainly faster than trying to use handwriting recognition or the few times I've played with the ipad on screen keyboard. I usually ignore errors and clean up the notes later when I'm at my macbook. Almost as fast as writing by hand, for me at least.
Nb I also really push for my students to use Evernote. The Mac version is slightly more full featured than the windows one, but both are good and the android and ios versions are great.

I tried a targus stylus made for the ipad and it didn't work out too well at all. I tried it in magic doodle and it can't even draw a straight line or circle consistently. Something about the nc touch screen just don't make a stylus conducive for sketching or note taking, cuz apparently reviewers thought the stylus worked great on the ipad. Can't wait until a tab with integrated wacom is released.
this is an offbeat solution, but in my classes, i have a macbook air (11 inch). i use the tab only when i surf and use it to stay low profile.
I've been using my Nook Color in class for about a week now. I'll share my thoughts.
1. Note-taking is a pain, and you'll only complicate your life by trying to use handwriting recognition or drawing software. I work at our campus computer store, and people have tried for a year or more to use styluses for handwritten data entry on capacitive touch screens. The mushy point on the iPad stylus that allows it to work is much closer to Sharpie thickness than a typical pen or pencil. Unless you want to have hundreds of notes that look like they were written by a kindergarten student, you should go a different route.
2. Evernote is not as useful as I had hoped. I'm used to having the ability to record audio notes with my Droid, and that's impossible with the nook at this point because it doesn't have a microphone. I've seen audio minijack add-ons for the iPod Touch that would record audio despite the lack of native support, but it will be a while before we see that on the Nook, if ever. That said, I've also tried typing on both the default keyboard and SlideIT, the latter of which cannot hold a candle to Swype. My solution? I carry a small notepad and record the audio to Evernote using my phone.
3. eBooks are extremely frustrating at times. I had to pay ~$4 for a copy of the novel My Antonia on Amazon because the free/cheap versions often lack effective ways to navigate. You can flip through a paper book, but, in the Kindle app, trying to navigate to a certain chapter without a Table of Contents is a huge pain. I'm definitely spending less than on print books, but you can't count on finding free options.
4. The native note-taking abilities in the Kindle app are beautiful. I've noticed probably a 300% increase in how much I interact with text when I can touch the text to highlight it rather than having to get a highlighter or sticky note. Being able to see all notes and highlights is also great. Yes, that's more of a Kindle-specific thing, but it looks gorgeous on the screen, and I like that the display is true to the size of a book.
5. Productivity use will remind you how far Android has to come. I've yet to find a clean, simple, and easy-to-use to-do list that can sync to Google Tasks and not look terrible on the screen. Similarly, until moments ago when I saw another post here, I was frustrated that the Calendar didn't work. There have been times in the past week that I've been close to soliciting a developer to create an app that fills the gaps I see.
6. I'm an English major, so a lot of my professors are against having technology in the classroom. I've found that they've all been accepting of ereaders because they assume people won't be using them for Facebook/Twitter/whatever. That's a pretty awesome side, but I'd prefer to use my MBP and MS Office to record my lectures along with markers in the text for going to specific parts of the recording.
I look forward to the day that Bluetooth works on the Nook or when someone creates an iPad/XOOM-style keyboard dock. I know a girl who takes her iPad to class, docks it, and loves the whole experience. I want that, but for half the price and without the walled garden. Still, though, I think the Nook experience would improve dramatically if some skilled developers were given enough motivation/compensation for their efforts.

Jorte looks good and works great for me. Give it a try if you haven't already.
Not too useful for school right now, mostly using it as a document viewer in class. Beats a smartphone for simple note-taking in a pinch. Laptops are much popular in my current school than my old one in the US, so the 'less disruptive' tablet issue doesn't apply.
I use Logmein (free) on my home desktop each day to check email & do some work remotely in Oracle.
Coworkers have tried Ignition on their iPads but give it a thumbs down for useability.
Has anyone tried it on a CM7 NC? Thought about getting one of the BT mini-keyboards to use with it, but paying $$ for an app that might not work gives me pause. Anyone have experience with it?

I use LogMeIn both from my PC and my iPad -- with an external keyboard, it's usable on the iPad. I can't help think that the 7" screen on the NC would just be too small, though.
Its usable but expect lag and delay on screen refresh. If you plan to use it for a quick file grab then its ok but don't expect to be doing anything intensive.

You may want to consider Team Viewer. At least the last time I used it, it was free.
With it, I has some funny behaviour with artifacts being left on my NC screen after I closed windows on my Vista machine. I suspect that it was an issue on the Vista box, but I'm not sure...
I've used Team Viewer before, but much prefer Logmein, it seems to function a lot better & has more options. Plus don't you need to have someone at both ends to provide the remote session access code info for TV?
Also wondered if it would be really useable on such a small screen, I guess for simple email reading it might work , but for drilling thru Oracle screens, it might be a bit of a stretch.
Anyone know if there's a free trial period, or do you have to buy it to use it at all first? Would like to try it out, but don't really want to part with $30 if it fails.

It's great, you can tap around the screen or you can bring up a mouse cursor to move around. I have not used multiple screens with it. But, from what I can tell switching between monitors is as simple as clicking an icon, and picking your monitor.

Teamviewer seems to be the best free app out there. I discovered Splashtop Remote a couple weeks ago and was amazed though. It looks clean, and is powered by your GPU so you can watch movies and games (over wifi at least). Only thing that bugs me about it is lack of customization in the controls. There is a demo app to test drive it, and the paid version is only a buck.
How do you use TeamViewer without someone at the other end to enter in the ID# & password? I've never seen where you can login with it remotely otherwise.

This is going to be my first tablet and I was wanting to hear from the tablet vets what are the best, must have apps and what are the best practices for ownership?
Do you recommend some brand of shields for the screen?
Best cases for the transformer?
Apps that you install before anything else?
What services did you tie in and are their any tricks to using the? For example I use to use dropbox to sync many system pref between the systems by making symbolic links to the Dropbox dir. (yes, that is a very old and not usually needed trick but you get the idea.)
Are their any cases that allow the tablet to dock w/o removing the tablet from the case.
What do you think of the asus drive privacy terms? I will not use amazons cloud drive w/o encrypting the entire contents due to their privacy clause.
Splash top works well on my wife's iPad was planning to use that, then heard of asus's implementation of splash top or is there better for android? Did some searching on it and found asus is using splash top too, is there any reason to buy splashtop hd? Didn't see any solid answer on that with google.

I ordered a skinomi clear skin /screen protector! This will allow It to dock! I would have gotten carbon but the speaker cutout will look weird! Remember that with any case their will be a square cutout for the speaker!
I'm in the same boat as you this will be be my first tablet!

I need a battery monitor app/widget, I personally use battery monitor widget the pro version is nices as it allows battery tracking.
Best apps change as they new ones come out or old ones get updates, but the role they fill always needs filling.

Less than a handful can actually comment on experience with this tablet as it's not officially out yet. Less than 5 here have it in possession already. There are reads in prime section of forum that basically covers all your sections. You will want spalshtop HD as it works great with Android tablets. As far as accessories and cases goes, check out the thread called Ultimate transformer Prime accessories thread. Also look into accessories sub forum here. There's a lot of people commenting on various cases that would be good for this device. For apps, that depends on what you looking for. Productivity, entertainment, games, research, etc.. Be more specific. Now with memory cards, there's a few threads here in general section that will answer your questions on that.
I know there is a lot of b.s. Preorder threads to sift thru here in general section. But all the answers you looking for are here. They may be a page or two back in this section. I would post links but there are so many. Good luck on your search

Tablets are pretty fun to use. However, it is rather difficult to bring out a tablet in public as they are quite cumbersome and you look like a pompous asshole with it; trust me. However, the transformer series has the keyboard dock, making you look like a more practical human being.
I used my TF101 in some college classes for note taking. I used Evernote. Worked beautifully. However, I want some faster speed lol.

There was a thread talking about that splash top. I don't think the one included is the HD one. I think it's the regular one. Splash HD is the one you really want though as it has all features unlocked and better for tablets. All I've heard is great things about it though. I have it on my iPad and Atix4g.

90% of what he asked was generic and the Prime's going to run the exact same applications every other HC tablet does exactly the same way (albeit faster). There might be some Teg3 optimized games but, other than that, it's just another tablet from a utilization perspective.
Here's some apps I can't live without:
Plex and Playon for video streaming
With Plex, you can store all your audio and video content on your home PC, NAS, or WHS and play it on your tablet, even over a 3G connection. It does an impressive job of organizing, labeling, and presenting your content and the tablet interface is pretty slick. I have 2TB of video that I stream to my tablet. It does a fantastic job of transcoding so the video quality's great even over sketchy connections.
PlayOn provides access to Hulu, Amazon VOD, and Netflix. It too is excellent at transcoding and actually does a better job in terms of video quality and buffering than the native apps. It's the best way to access Hulu content.
Pulse and News360 for news
Both have great tablet interfaces, sync with their desktop companions to bookmark or save stories, and can be highly personalized.
Zinio, PressReader, and Next Issue for magazines and newspapers
All have great content available and are designed for tablet screens. Next Issue content is free if you already have print subscriptions.
Read it Later for offline web surfing
Great app for finding web stuff to download to your tablet either as you see it or from your desktop PC to read later.
Swiftkey Tablet X & Swype keyboards
Swiftkey is a fantastic keyboard with excellent predicitive word logic and layout. It also has a thumb keyboard setting which is great when you aren't using a physical keyboard.
Swype has a mini-mode which takes up about 1/8 of the screen and is really fast when you're writing longer e-mails or docs.
CoPilot for navigation
Google map caching is hit or miss when you need to deviate and don't have a wireless signal. CoPilot stores all data locally and doesn't require any wireless signal to be fully functional.
TouchDown for e-mail
It's the best e-mail app for contact management and tasks. You almost have to have it if you connect to Exchange. It's got the best widgets of any e-mail program out there.
Worldmate travel companion
If you travel a lot Worldmate stores the details of your future trips on your tablet. As you're traveling it provides alerts for gates and times and any delays or changes to your itinerary. You can check flight status for any airline in real time and look up alternates if you're screwed.

Task killers, batter managers, and the like
Tablets are different than phones and they're used differently. Android as an OS manages resources incredibly effectively. While it's a personal choice, adding things that use resources to save resources seems counter intuitive to me and I don't use them.
Half the fun of an Android tablet (vs. iOS) is the ability to make it your own. Enjoy.
Asus already included a big portion of the apps you might need for basic usage.
But here s some apps I use pretty much every day with my transformer, they re almost all optimized for tablet (android 3.0 framework)
Wizz Widget (for social feed)
tTorrent (for downloading)
subloader (for automatic subtitle downloading)
mobo player / bs player (for watching any kind of video)
File manager HD (a file explorer, better than Asus's one)
Newsr (a google reader better than google reader)
Catch note (to take and read note in the cloud, protect by password and synchronised on every device)
Google Current (offline reading of RSS feed with a very nice looking layout)
Beyondpod HD (best podcast apps)
And Adobe Photoshop Touch, Adobe Idea, Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, Picsay Pro, cause I'm a computer graphist.
Those are the apps I use the most, along which there is some usefull apps like skype, messenger, dropbox, splashtop HD, Facebook and pretty much every google Apps. (chrome to phone, translate, maps, etc etc)
Unless you're a super reckless user, a screen protector isn't going to be necessary (and is sometimes ugly/degrades screen quality). It's really hard to scratch this screen, and other ones like it.

I would reconsider. Newsr is really buggy and slow, crashes a lot and behaves very strange when you start it before WiFi is connected. I didn't find anything better though.
For me most important are also:
- ezPDF - I don't know any better app for PDFs on any system or device (great for taking notes on books or writing answers in exercise books for school).
- Writepad Stylus - for writing (not perfect, but the best I found, if you are buying Adonit Jot, you will find it useful),
The rest for me is mostly games. Cut the Rope is the "must play". Dizzy is the "greatest but probably only appreciated by fans of the original".

I agree. I've had my Galaxy S (Gorilla Glass screen, like the Prime) in my pocket "unprotected" for about 18 months now, and although I was anxious at first, I haven't noticed any scratching of the screen. Screen protectors might have been recommended for resistive touchscreens, but I don't think they're necessary with capacitive touchscreens, because the glass is tough enough already.

Weird, I don't have any problem at all with newsr. Butter smooth, fast feed load, super stable, not a single crash. Sure if you re offline it doesn't login but that's expected from a RSS reader and nothing strange happen, just a message saying that you need an internet connexion.

Hi guys! I just made a power point presentation for my research paper i had to do for my studies. Just wanted to share some of my experiences and stuff you have to look out for
So first of all, check out what connections are available to you, you can buy any hdmi cable if your projector supports that. The place where i study has been stupid and went for VGA instead (probably was cheaper?) so you need an adapter from micro HDMI to VGA if you want to use your prime.
I bought the official one from a local online shop. Works perfectly.
So next important thing i found out about: there is no Android App available atm that supports MS office PPT animations. So if you made a slide with 3 points and set them to appear on after another by click, on your tablet it will just show one slide with all points on it.
An easy way to work around that is to make copies of your slides each with an additional point. The result will look exactly the same. Oh and no one likes those fancy fly in animations anyway, they only distract people
Finally what app to use? The prime comes with a pretty capable office app called Polaris. It would be the best as you can simply tap on the left or right side of the screen to go to the next slide. Unfortunately i couldnt get a full screen view with that app. When i open the presentation mode it shrinks the screen and your actual presentation only fills about 3/4 of the screen and there is this ugly blue bar in the bottom (see screenshot, 2nd one is with QuickofficeHD). I hope that gets fixed in a future version! This also happens when you create the presenation directly with the app so i havnt found a workaround for that.
What I ended up using is Quickoffice Pro HD. It has a nice full screen view that fills the screen and you can switch slides by swiping the screen. It also has an autoplay feature for those who want to use that. Make sure to disable it when you launch the presentation because its enabled by default.
Be prepared to fix some text alignment issues once you copied your presentation to you tablet. I had some problems with lists and tabstops, but it was a quick fix.
Also Android doesnt like the Calibri font. Letters are far too close to each other, so make sure to use Arial (which is what i used) or test out your font beforehand.
Cheers and wish me luck its this Wednesday. I guess at this point its still simpler to use your laptop for more lavish stuff. But who wants to use laptops?

I use animations in my presentations as well, and the trick of making extra slides wouldn't work for me (our animations are quite complex, and really need the usual animation function to work). I'd love an Office-compatible suite that supported more advanced functions like this, or really ANY advanced functions.

I'm pretty sure it'll come eventually Its just a software thing, and remember Android Tablets have only come out one year ago (i think the xoom came in late February). These office apps get updated constantly, so its just a matter of time.
But as of now, an Android tablet is not good for very complex presentations. For my needs its perfectly fine though. Really looking forward to how people will react when i only have this thing lying on the table and swiping around on it

Everyone hates Powerpoint animations. Even if they lie and say that they were cute or funny, really everybody hates them.
To put it another way, it is very rare that an animation enhances the information being shown. In general (99% of the time) animations are just a distraction or added in as a "cool" effect to spice up a boring presentation.
This is part of the reason I use .PDF for all of my presentations instead of Powerpoint, even though most people in the company use Powerpoint.
Off-meeting reading (like for people who had to miss the meeting, and who REALLY hate animations) and over-all device compatibility (every phone, tablet, PC, Mac, etc can read .pdf) are the other reasons. Plus Adobe Acrobat is intended for designers (like me) so it is easier to make a NICE looking presentation.

Did you try using a VNC to access powerpoint for the presentation? I am curious if you would be able to use the full screen presentation mode and how the quality would be.

Onlive looks ok, but they havnt released it in europe and i'm pretty sure they dont have servers here either. Seems to be pretty laggy for me.
I just wanted to share my experience with this device for anyone who is curious:
I went ahead and picked up the Chromebook Plus. I had initially thought of it as just a second laptop for quick web browsing. I was instead blown away at the ability to access the Google Play Store. I even side loaded F-Droid.
I managed to install all of the Office 365 mobile apps (some of them required side loading the apk). I also got Netflix, Amazon Prime, and the Spectrum TV App loaded (though the Spectrum app would pixelate and turn green from time to time). I also got Kodi running for Movies...
With Microsoft Remote Desktop app I can remote to my Windows PCs and Servers.
I'm going to see if I can get the thing to VPN into our Corporate Network.
According to settings it's running Android 6.0.1. I can't seem to change the device name (option not there). Also I had an issue with Outlook Mobile because of our MDM policy forcing a password and the device settings don't offer that option. I got around it using BlueMail.
Finally the Samsung Pen is wonderful. I like it better then the Surface Pen.
If there is anything someone wants me to try let me know, but so far I got more than I bargain for and may consider using this as a daily driver especially if I can get Kali Nethunter to work.

I too got a Samsung Chromebook Plus to replace my Google Pixel C as a tablet with a more robust desktop class browser, with a real keyboard (although the Pixel C stock keyboard is fantastic and makes a world of difference using the Pixel C) track pad. I love the dual USB Type-C ports and the microSD slot. It's like getting a 12" tablet with all the extras.
So far I got most of my Android Apps installed. Except stuff that doesn't work like Widgets, Keyboards, and filemanagers (android apps cant access the microSD card).
Kodi Krypton 17 runs great in full screen immersive mode.
I initially bought an Open Box at Best Buy, the manager was nice enough to manually add in my $100 trade in. It was perfect until I closed it and noticed the bottom front edge was loose, like they didn't tighten 3 of the 4 screws down all the way, leaving a 0.3mm gap I could press down on the cover. Also with Open Box you risk the previous owner redeemed the offers. Google is giving buyers $20 Play Store credit and 100gb Drive storage for 2 years free. So I returned/exchanged it for a new one and paid the difference. (s/n 200,000)
The replacement had severe bluetooth interference. I could not listen to youtube videos without it constantly cutting out sitting in front of the unit, if I turned my head or moved it stuttered. I had to adjust my home wifi and it helped but still was unusable. As soon as I turned this unit on it forced an updated before setup. I mention this because it had issues running Facebook Live streams, which is one of the reasons I went for a Chromebook in the first place, to get a real browser.. It would pay 5-10 secs and get a "something went wrong". Note this happens with all the floor models / brands I tested at Best Buy. It does not happen with the Windows based laptops using Edge or Chrome Browser. So it's a ChromeOS issue. Also when the unit would auto sleep, sometimes it would not wake with the track pad, I had to press the keyboard. (s/n 100,00)
Went back to Best Buy and exchanged it for a higher s/n 200,000 model. Bluetooth works with very nominal stutter, I could walk several rooms away and it would still play fine. The track pad wakes the unit as it should without issue. But Facebook Live streams still only play 5-10 secs then pops up "something went wrong" on Stable channel 56.0.2924.110. So I decided to try switching to the Beta channel. It updated to 57.0.2987.85beta. I went to www.facebook.com/live to test random live streams, chose washington post's April the Giraffe stream and it played for a bit, switched to Michael Phelps live stream it played, went back to April the Giraffe and it gave the same error, I did a few refreshes and it would play and cut out, so it's random.. Again a ChromeOS issue. Live streams on YouTube play fine.
The keyboard is really good. I like the tactile response and clicky-ness compared to the other demo units. The smaller than usual and smaller than other keys tab and backspace are ackward being used to having huge ones on other keyboards. I do tend to have to look and miss, hitting the lock button instead at times. The track pad is great, some mention their finger gets stuck. I say let it "break in", once you get some finger smeg / smoot on it's surface it glides. The Pen is great fun, especially useful when my fingers feel oily, to touch the screen.. The speed and responsiveness is great in ChromeOS and android apps run fine.
I am really happy with it, hopefully Google fixes the issue with ChromeOS, it worked perfect last week before the update.
I am now looking for some type of folio and or skin, as well as a nice Tempered Glass Screen Protector /poke @intelliARMOR

For those who own this laptop I wanted to get some advice.
I'm still in love with this laptop. I'm still in awe that I can run Android Apps on this Chromebook. This laptop has become my 2nd device (close to my go to) for everything.
Now here is where i'm having trouble. I read about the upcoming Samsung Chromebook Pro. It runs Intel instead of ARM and cost an extra $$$.
Now I would like to install a linux distro on it. I see that there aren't many ARM supported distros. So the question is should I:
1. Hold on to the Chromebook Plus and hope someone will make a good Linux ARM distro
2. Return the Chromebook Plus and pick up the Chromebook Pro

Well I found a bug. I think it's within in ARC itself. ARC doesn't come with Device Manager (Settings >> Personal >> Services >> Device Manager) Missing the Device Management feature dwarfs the ability to get MDM going on it. With out MDM I can't access my Corporate Office 365 E-Mail using the Outlook Mobile App. (I ended up resorting to good old OWA for now).
I also learned that if you wanted to install an APK from the Google Play Store that is "not compatible" with your device, you will need to move your Chromebook in Developer Mode. It is only in this mode you can install APKs from unknown sources.
Sadly I had to give up the laptop and returned it today (grudgingly) . I was unaware that a "Pro" version was coming out in April with an Intel chip. While the ARM-OP1 can hold its own to everything I threw at it, the area that I'm concerned with the very limited options of Linux for ARM. So I'm going to wait out the next few weeks till I can get it. I heard April 12th so I'll report sometime then.

Nice write up, thank you. I am currently really struggling with my decision on what to get next between the Pixel C, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, Acer R13, Samsung Plus/Pro. I am coming from the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and as you can see, I am struggling on whether to go with a Tablet or a Chromebook.
Of course the best of all worlds would be a Chromebook with a detachable screen, but then I would probably have to wait another year. Any advice? Is it awkward/hard to use this while laying in bed in tablet mode?
I am using the Samsung Chromebook Plus. I also have the Note 10.1 2014. If you do use the stylus on the Note, the Samsung Chromebook Plus (SC+) also comes with a stylus.
The SC+ is a little larger than the Note and, thus, a little heavier.
The SC+ runs Chromeos but also runs Android apps.
While in bed, I lay on my back, while reading an ebook or surfing the web. So holding the SC+ as a tablet is a little awkward, because of the weight. However, keeping the SC+ as a laptop, I prop the keyboard portion of the SC+ on my belly, taking the weight off my hands and arms. I adjust the sceen to my liking. When I need to shift to my side, it's already in laptop mode, so I would adjust my screen again to my liking while resting on the bed.
The lightest Android tablet I have is the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet. It is really light weight. While I like this tablet, I'm moving more towards the SC+ for everyday use, because of the keyboard portion.

Work offered to buy us gadgets with some left-over funds. I decided to go for this beast, as my iPad 2 and previous Samsung Chromebook (2015 version) had both died recently.
My thoughts:
Android stuff works pretty well so far. ChromeOS has matured a bit, but Android App Store is very welcome. The screen is huge & gorgeous, way too bright, and the keyboard is decent.
It didn't take me long to decide to put it in Developer mode -- I needed a fuller Linux than stock provides (no zsh?!?) -- and got Crouton up and running with no trouble.
The first Linux distro that I found with explicit support for this new box was ArchArm, I'm a Red Hat admin by trade and a Debian/embedded tinkerer by hobby, so I was a bit confused by Arch's way of doing things. Still, it's a solid distro, and once I got dhcpcd running on a USB ethernet dongle, I was able to get the bits I needed to feel more comfortable.
Incidentally, I tried several Desktop Environments, (at work I use xfce4 on RHEL7.3) and decided that Cinnamon is far and away the best fit for the CB+. It has built-in support for the HiDPi touch display & touchpad, and is easy enough to add the keyboard shortcuts to mimic most of the special Google-style keys.
I installed Arch on the SD card, so at the boot screen I can hit ctrl-u to boot linux or ctrl-d to boot into ChromeOS dev mode.
Two caveats: I have not had time or much reason to play with the stylus, in either environment, you'll need someone else's opinion for that.
Second, strangely, although wifi works under Arch, the reception is much, much weaker than under ChromeOS. I'm still investigating this, I know a magnesium-framed, aluminum-shelled device is going to be at a disadvantage with RF, but the mimo wifi setup works well under ChromeOS, so I assume it'll get better as Arch matures.
I'd give it an A as a Chromebook, B as a general Linux box, B+ as an Android device, and I expect the Bs to come up with patches.
So far I love mine for all of the reasons everyone . I am coming from an older Chromebook. My only issue is that sometimes the screen stays black after opening the Chromebook from a powered down state. I have to hold the power button down to get the power off, shut the screen and wait 10-20 seconds to try again. Is anyone else seeing this issue?
I'm so glad I found this thread. I just bought a Samsung Chromebook and didn't even know about the free offers like the Google Play Music, Drive Storage and $20 Play Credit. Today was the last day to redeem them too. Thanks for the info.

I have had this laptop for a few months now, and have tried several things on it. Linux, dev mode, constant blowing it away...etc.
I will say this. I really had hope that this addition of android play store would help me change the way I work.... and you know what.... IT DID.
Now with all things there are trade offs, etc... and this laptop is no different, but as the months go by, the apps are getting better and better. There are very few apps that now have issues with the Samsung Chromebook Plus. It takes just about everything I have thrown at it, even playing command and conquest and GTA vice city.
I think of this laptop as a tablet with a perm keyboard for those times I need to lift a little heavier or quicker. The Pen is fantastic.
If you want a complete replacement, this laptop comes pretty dang close. If you are willing to think out of the box, this could easily be your next favorite goto.
Next steps for me... I would really like to nuke this thing and get an actual android OS kernel booting on it, with everything working. More on that later.

2.4G wifi Problems
I love the chromebook plus with one exception....2.4G wifi has been almost unusable. I have tried with 4 different routers, but I am unable to get more than 2 to 3Mbps no matter how close I am to the router. Range is awful. Every other device gets over 70Mbps under the same conditions. 5G works much better but still doesn't perform as well as most other devices.
Has anybody else experienced extremely poor performance with 2.4G wifi? Any suggestions?

Every other device gets over 70Mbps under the same conditions. 5G works much better but still doesn't perform as well as most other devices.

Turned out to be a defective unit. Exchanged for another Chromebook Plus. 2.4G working properly now. Overall Wifi performance is still not very good compared to other devices.
Guys, I am planning to buy Chromebook Plus as well. How has your experience been since you bought it?
Any tips, accessory recommendations etc

pretty amazing
only downside is I can't consistently use Smart Unlock for Chromebook with my OnePlus 3 or Pixel 2 XL
