I bouthgt this S9+ as a new unlocked phone from ebay. When I try to update from Settings, it says current software is up to date. My firmware's CSC is XAA but my active CSC is ATT. I am not sure which firmware to download.

I believe that would be ATT... Is it network unlocked, or Factory unlocked?

I think it is probably network unlocked. There were some AT&T built-in apps when I got the phone.

If it is just network unlocked. The bootloader is locked and your SOL.

Excuse me, but could you please explain what SOL is? And should I try to unlock the bootloader in order to update?

i try to check if my s3 is locked or not i put the *#7465625# but nothing shows up , is there is another way to know if its locked or not
Why would it be unlocked?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Put a different SIM card and if ask for network lock that means it's not unlock
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA
The code works on my international (european) S3. Result: not locked
Perhaps you mistyped it?
*#7465625#
My cell is the SGH-I747M (Rogers Wireless) and the code doesn't work on my phone either.
Some of you need to some reading. Why would it be unlocked if you pay discounted price with year agreement? Think about it.

Code itself does not work but market apps like sgs secret code can access it.
Mine says unlocked all and don't have bell or Telus card to test. It's unlocked with Fido, but then again all Rogers samsung phones are working with Fido. So only way to know for sure is to test with bell or Telus card. This screen might not even be used for this particular locking method if they have it.
Sent from my SGH-I747M
code works for me.

I received the unlock code from T-Mobile and unlocked my phone. I tested it by making calls with an AT&T Sim Card and my screen is identical to the screen above. It doesn't say on or off. And my phone is definitely unlocked!!!
Picked up a 710 last week. For a "low-end" phone, I think it's pretty nice! But, one thing that's bothering me is this pretty noticeable banding at the top edge of the screen. You can really see it on a white screen.
Is this just how they come or is it something that they can fix? Isn't all that bothersome but kind of annoying knowing that its there lol
Here's a couple pics:

I went to my carrier today just to see what another 710 looked like and the banding was still there but it didn't seem as bad, so I don't know
ask for replacement , least you should get is one where its less noticable
If I send it in, should I lock the bootloader after restoring the carrier ROM to it? And if so, how lol
Can't seem to find that...

Oh no I understand that. My bootloader was locked initially though and I unlocked it to throw a new ROM on. You think they'd reject my phone if I send it in unlocked still with the carrier ROM restored or is there a way to lock it again (upgrade to DLOAD or whatever I guess)?
Hi,

You can try us Check your PM.
Take a look at this thread. It's pretty informative.

Have not seen a free service yet. But try out the ebay seller mentioned in the link. He has been providing HTC ONE's unlock code for $3.5 and with high success rate. Just got mine and it worked fine.

Once the phone is paid off, sprint will give you an unlock code.
As far as root goes, the US versions of Samsung phones will not be rootable.

Unlocked as in carrier/SIM unlocked?
Is your device already unlocked? If not, flashing "unlocked" firmware (U1) will not remove the SIM lock.
The SIM lock can only be removed by the carrier, as long as there isn't a lien on the device.
