Hi,
Just bought Tab S7 LTE 4 days back. Now i am facing weird issue with S-Pen. Screen registers clicks without even touching S-pen to the screen. i mean if i hold the pen just 1 or 2 mm over the screen, it registers the action, or starts writing or drawing.
It is mostly on the upper most part of the screen if you hold the tab vertically. Anyone facing this issue? i have hear this issue in older tabs and note series.
Any help?

I was experiencing odd touch issues but ended up getting an ota from at&t with September security and think the issue resolved.

I updated to September security patch on the first day. But started facing this issue yesterday only.
Hi,
I have shown my tablet to the Samsung store from where I bought. They confirmed that the issue is with the spen. Other spen were working absolutely fine.
They have asked me to register complaint to service center.
It's not the Spen, Mine worked perfectly until the last firmware updated, then started doing the same thing!
i dont have any issues with spen on Tab S7 T875. But the Nib of the spen got un usable after 15 days. was not registering writing properly.
I thought spen has problems. Then i changed its Nib to a Note3 Nib and it works superb.

Started with mine as well, after the update on 08.12. , though not sure if it was immediately after, or couple of days later...
Also, what's interesting is that once you press spen firmly to the screen, and hold it for a second or two, spen functioning returns to normal but only temporary, as some time after, issue returns...

I'm using the Tab S6 and my SPEN started doing the same weird ****. If it press it down hard normal function returns for a while and then it goes back weird like what you have.
I narrowed it down to a dodgy nib. Install a new nib and press it firmly in. What I believe happens is that the nib needs to contact some active part of the pen to provide the capacitance required to trigger the screen (think of those cheap rubber tipped pens you get off ebay). When it doesn't contact, it thinks that air actions is in play. So I installed a new nib making sure I press it in really tight... and so far it continues to work as it used to.

Hi,
Got my s2 pretty much as soon as they were released on o2 and it's been great until now, but the home button has just become 'rattly'. There's more movement and noise before the button engages, as if something has broken underneath it.
Anyone else experienced this?
Just hoping o2 will replace with a new phone, and not refurbished..
Edit:
May have fixed this - I pushed left and right sides of button with both thumbs reasonably firmly (but not hard), and the button seemed to click back into place..
Bought mine on the 5th of may, no noise/rattling here.
Spoke to o2 and they're happy to replace, but have no stock now..

Bit worrying that this isnt an isolated problem.
Would be interested to know how long it takes for it to develop for other people's phones?
It's worse for me on the left side of the button, same for you too?

I noticed this yesterday, too, on the right side. I've had the phone for 17 days.
I've updated the first post with what I think is a fix.
I have this rattling too, noticed it yesterday. Pressing it firmly fixes the issue for some 10-20 clicks - but then it's back again.
Same here.. Often the button clicks but there is no registration only when pressing it firmly it will exucte,
It just started on mine too it seems.
Home Botton issue..
I hate the home button, I like the buttons on the Samsung Captivate better.
I had a issue with my home button, after I put on an aftermarket screen protector. I tried to use water to help apply the protector, and it seemed to have gotten behind the button, causing it not to work after drying. After tearing apart the phone and getting behind the boards I didn't see a way to the button, it seems you have to separate the screen from the frame to get to the electronics behind the frame (most likely destroys the phone). I did notice double-sided sticky tape behind the frame, most likely industrial type.
Put the phone back together and got some Flux-Off that I had for cleaning circuit boards , applied it at the button just as the water got into it. Fixed my issue and the button is making good contact now.
All that just for me to say, it worked better with the older design.
I don't know about your buttons, but mine has stopped rattling. Perhaps some glue needed more time to settle.

Hi everybody -
I've got a weird issue that I wanted to see if anybody else is experiencing. I noticed this a couple of days ago, and I also seem to remember that I wasn't having this problem before (but I could have just not noticed it). I'm running unrooted stock.
When I get my s-pen tip close to the screen, it reacts with it - no touch needed. So this causes my screen to go crazy, especially if the keyboard is on at the time. It will register multiple letter presses (same letter), etc. I've experimented with this, and even in S-Memo, it will draw on the screen even if the pen is not touching the screen, but just above it.
Has anybody else seen this? Am I crazy?
I'd venture to guess that this is happening when you're holding the pen at an upwards angle (such as when laying in bed and looking up to see the phone screen), correct?
If so, there's a thread about that& a few possible remedies.
No, it happens pretty much all the time, regardless of my physical position ...
There is a thread about that too

There's a lot of info out there... just search this forum for "s pen" or google "s pen problem" which will also show links to YouTube videos on this.
Here are links to four threads in this forum, and there are more in the international note forum. I'd recommend you try to return it (I'm on my third Note), and if that doesn't work try the metal foil tape solution shown in the first thread below.
1. AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note MAJOR ISSUE with Stylus!
2. screen responds to spen when not touching screen?
3. Anyone having issues with unintentional S-pen actions(?)
4. Galaxy Note problems, should I return?
You can turn down the response of the screen to pen using TouchScreenTune.

I forgot to mention that these S Pen problems often come up only after using the device for a while. My first Note took a couple of days to go bad, my second one took just a couple of hours. My third one took about 6 hours for this issue to start to appear (and I finally just put the aluminum tape on the pen).
Some folks with international Notes said the problem showed up after about 30 days of use.
I seem to have developed a kind of dead spot where the "i" is on the keyboard. I have tried 2 different Swypes, the stock keyboard, Switftkey Flow, and the 4.2 keyboard. It will work sometimes, but if i repeatedly tap the i, sometimes it will go for periods of 20+taps without registering, or stop indefinitely until I swype over and include the I. All of the other buttons work perfectly. It has been in a case since the minute I got it, I have never dropped it, hit it, or anything, and recently I put a screen protector on it. Should I bring it back to Verizon for a warranty replacement?
Edit: This doesn't happen when I use the S Pen to tap, it only fails to register when I use my finger.
sounds like a touch screen defect, do take it back

i have the same exact problem but its on the 'u'. did you take it back for a replacement?
If you have a screen protector installed try removing it to see if the issue goes away. Have seen touch input issues with marginal screen protectors.

Yup I took it back. They did a hard reset and said I absolutely had to reproduce it for them to swap it out, so I sat there and pressed it until it started giving me problems again. Swapped it out no problem. It did this with or without the screen protector, do that wasn't the issue.

I dropped my phone into the sink earlier today and then got it out. The phone was still working spen and all and then a few hours later the spen stopped working on some apps like Facebook and instagram and then stopped working all together. I have checked my note 10.1 spen and it is not working on my phone either. Any suggestions?I have tried checking other forms about this and none have seem to help.
UPDATE- I have completely took apart the phone and put back on my old cracked lcd and digitizer and the spen still does not work. I don't know what else it could be.?????

FIRST thing you do when your phone gets wet is turn it off and pull the battery!
Then you MUST dry it and confirm it is dry inside, some people soak it in dry rice for a few hours or something similar.
If you have any moisture in the phone and leave it on with the battery in it.... you WILL RUIN IT!
I would defiantly recommend doing this now before your phone suffers worse damage than just the S-Pen not working (its probably actually the digitizer for the S-Pen)

Thank you I have already taken the whole phone apart and did not find any water. It was in the water for so little time that the whole phone was not submerged because I saw it so quickly. Is the spen digitizer something I can replace?

I hate to say it but it sounds like you shorted something out in the circuit board.
I had a similar problem where my usb port became unresponsive after water damage.
Luckily a new one is like 11$
If I were you, I would buy a donor phone (cracked screen with clean esn) and swap circuit boards.
Then again, not using the spen sounds cheaper.

The thing that does Not add up to me is the fact that there is no other problems with the phone. If I shorted something out wouldn't there be some sort of other problem with the phone?
Thanks
OK first the phone does not in any way "sense" when you touch the s-pen to it. The way it works is when the pen is close enough and the tip is pressed in, the phone senses that.
Anyone with a working pen can test this, hover the pen over the screen and use your finger to press the tip in.
Anyhow the first question is when the pen is close to the screen do you get the hover icon?
Second is does your phone s-pen work on your tablet?
2 minutes of my life I'm never getting back reading and typing this!!!!

Yes my stylus works with my tablet. I do not get any hover icon when I hover over my screen and even when the spen is touching the screen I can still use my finger on the screen.
Thanks

2 things to check:
First check in setting>SPen and make sure that everything is on and correct in there.
--Pen detatch sound set as any sound and not off
--Air View on
Second insert and remove the SPen a few times from the phone and check if it makes the insert and remove sound.
If the settings are right, and you dont get a sound... there is a microswitch in the holster for the pen, its stuck.
Try disabling battery saving in settings>spen it should allow the digitizer to come on with the switch stuck.
If the settings are right and you do get a sound digitizer shorted out.
I wonder what happened with this...

I've been having many annoying touch issues where the notification bar and about 1/4 inch below dont respond to touch at all. After many restores, odins, factory resets, the only thing that helps is turning off screen and turning it back on.
Well that's a timed fix...
Any idea how to fix it perm or just send it back to samsung?

No point sending back as its a software issue. Unless you know the cause and can reproduce on command, we will have to hope its fixed in a future OTA. A lot of people have touchscreen issues, a lots of those have exactly my problem that the top 3/4 inch of the screen stops responding. Could very well be an app or setting that causes a conflict...I already saw something similar with my S5 where the audio jack sound would just cut off for no reason and I had to unplug AUX or headphones to have it back. It could also be a manufacturing defect.
I remember a few weeks before the S6 came out, a video poped out showing how the sides of the screen were registering about 80% less touch input the the rest of the screen. Screen Gate was almost born until the S6 came out and nobody had such issue.
You can try recalibrate the touch by using the code
