Do we need the new kind of SIM for this to work? I've seen people in other threads talk about the R15

I already had the r15 sim seems to be working good. Dont know about older sims. Seen people was having problems with samsung 5g devices with older sims.
R15 sim is needed for voice to connect, in nr only mode I get no voice service with the old sim
5G NR working here with .39 and R15 sim. Well, I should say 5G NR data is working. When set to NR only in #*#*4636#*#* and wifi off, I'm not able to make voice calls. (Before .39 and R15 SIm, setting it to NR only resulted in zero service. So 5G NR is definitely working!)
It's not the new R15 sim causing the problem. Without the R15 sim, one can't even connect to SA 5G for data.
Is that just me or is that the same for everyone? Does Vo5GNR not exist yet? Or only in some areas?
Edit: According to this: https://www.telecompetitor.com/understanding-t-mobile-standalone-5g-technology-what-is-vonr-vinr/
it says TMobile does support VoNR but in addition, supports "the first low-band standalone (SA) 5G voice call using evolved packet system (EPS) fallback to VoLTE". Is it possible they haven't deployed VoNR yet? Can someone set to NR only with wiif off and try making a call?
edit2: After some further reading, the X55 modem doesn't support VoNR. The upcoming X60 will. So there isn't a single phone on the market currently that supports VoNR. I know in about phone it shows NR for voice and data, but that's not accurate. https://www.androidauthority.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-x60-5g-1084417/ https://www.qualcomm.com/news/relea...hird-generation-5g-modem-rf-system-enhance-5g
However, I'd still like someone to confirm my findings.
Also probably the reason the NR only mode is hidden in the debug menu instead of a regular setting.
Speedtest results in NR only mode are disappointing slow. Slower than NSA mode. And NSA is slower than plain old LTE at my house, which has been pretty consistent since I bought this phone.
On the plus side, LTE service in my area has actually gotten faster over the 6 months I've had this phone, so that's nice.

Speed results at my home: LTE is approx 75/12mbps constant
NSA 5G low-band: is approx 120/20 (but can drop to 10/5 at times, even before SA mode became available)
SA 5G low-band: approx 5/5mbps
If set to auto settings, it'll stay on 5G NSA 95% of the time. SA 5G definitely isn't ready for primetime yet lol.
Future 5G low-band updates (currently in progress across the US) and especially mid-band (n41, 2500MHz) availability will greatly increase speeds to 300+mbps (already available in 200+ cities and T-Mobile says 1000+ cities by end of 2020 -- most are small cities in only a handful of states as of now). Haven't had a chance to test it personally.
I ran a bunch of speedtests today, and discovered that 5G NSA was performing better than ever (even faster than plain LTE) while 5G SA was extremely disappointing.
Anyone found a hidden setting or app that can _disable_ NR SA?
The speedtests results tell me I'm better off without it for the time being, at least until TMobile fine tunes and works out the initial rollout kinks.

Don't think you can disable SA 5G, but my phone stays on NSA 5G the vast majority of the time. I'm assuming TMobile set it that way on purpose knowing that their 5G SA network is very slow at the moment.
Is there a manual way to install this? I've got an unlocked bootloader, I was rooted but I couldn't get this update to install, I keep getting "Installation problem" and no real details. So I restored my original boot.img which I'd backed up. So now my phone isn't rooted and yet I'm still encountering the same exact error. The only thing I can think of is the unlocked bootloader, which sucks. I'll have to jump through some serious hoops to go back to 100% stock (because the userdata will be lost). Hoping somebody has found a way to just manually flash this somehow.

No way to manually flash any OTA or updates on this phone. Either your boot partition isn't stock, your recovery partition isn't stock, your reserve partition is missing or is the wrong version (if you never or incorrectly restored it after you first unlocked the bootloader), or any other system partition (system, vendor, product, odm -- all which are contained in super.img thanks to Android 10) isn't stock. If it's boot or recovery or reserve you can fix. If it's anything else, your only option is to run the latest MSM tool to get back to stock (wiping all data in the process), followed by unlocking again, running the correct version of the tool to restore reserve.img, and go from there.
If you simply unlocked the bootloader and never read the thread about restoring your reserve partition, that's likely your problem since you already restored boot to stock. And an easy fix.
And I can't say this enough, BACK UP YOUR PERSIST PARTITION NOW! It's unique to your specific phone and SHOULD never ever be altered in any way. OTAs don't touch it. It won't prevent you from taking OTAs if you corrupt it, which is very likely on this phone sooner or later with the bootloader unlocked, but you will wind up with a broken fingerprint sensor/reader (which if you are lucky can be fixed yourself without RMA, but it's much, much easier just to make a backup to begin with).
Edit: The 10.0.39 version of the MSM tool came out, so you can use that to restore/update, but you'll lose all data in the process, and have to unlock the bootloader again and then restore/fix your reserve partition (so that future OTA updates will work) again.
Since updating, I've noticed that Google Pay no longer works. Also, with the new Majisk UI, there is no more MajiskHide list. Any one else notice this?

The new version of Magisk comes with MagiskHide disabled by default if you do a fresh install of Magisk. You need to go into settings in the Magisk app and enable it. Reboot. Problem solved. And the MagiskHide list will reappear too

Thank you, all set now. Still not digging the new UI of Majisk though.

I have a dreaded Verizon. For the time being, I really only need to alter the radios to tune for Tmobile frequencies. No one seems to advertise or understand this but since the S4 is fully capable of nearly every frequency world wide, and I get next to no signal when on T mobile, I believe Verizon purposely only turned on frequencies that they use.
So, unless someone else has a slick work around for the time being, I will have to figure out a root procedure for this configuration. I looked at this late last year and seemed to be a big hurdle.
King root seems to be inconsistent. What are my options for this?

not possible
sorry
the only way it could work is that if you had a i545 running a MDK which lets you run custom kernels
as of now there is no way to flash non-verizon modems to the device
Mobile Networks> Network Mode>
select UTS/GSM is about all you can do
verizon even remove the service menu that shows the available bands
Wow, Verizon must have done their homework on locking down phones. That boot loader is hosery. I consider this much like the government forcing them to give the keys, but did not say they had to put air in the tires. Without the ability to run or select alternate frequencies, service is a no-go
I am mostly in desktop computers but curious why these phones are not being wipes and reloaded with a new OS from scratch? Why all the work arounds and hacks? What am I missing? Does Android have all this on lock down?

its entirely samsung and verizon's doing
S4 Is a terrible device you would be better off with something like a huawei honor or moto g or moto X
I am curious about your phone selections. My basic needs are only a high end device with good signal, mic, speaker, display, battery life, and memory capacity. However, I really felt I MUST have a phone with SD card ability but I really don't remove it, I don't take many pictures, and probably don't need that feature.
What I DON'T want is a device that is HUGE. I like the size of the S4. T mobile felt sorry for my phone issues and gave me an LG Leon. I simply hate it.
I should mention that I later intend to consider writing some custom apps for basic wifi and blue tooth functions so I want a playground that affords me some latitude.

then the honor x5 is what you want its slightly wider then the s4 5.64 5.53 has sd dual sim dual radio and a factory unlockable bootloader
http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_5x-7590.php
remember huawei is the OEM for google meaning they designed and manufactured the nexus 5x and 6p
Thank you! I find phone shopping to be rather daunting. I see a lot of developers using the Nexus product but also see a lot of people using Samsung due to all their included gadgets on board.
One thing that may be handy is the IR emitter. Is there a site that compares different products well? I do notice the honor does not get high marks for their display performance.
As well, due to using T mobile, I am unsure on compatibility. I need to know if the boot loader is responsible for toggling certain bands on/off? If I buy an honor for ATT, I assume it will be toggled for ATT frequencies? Since the BL is unlocked, can I toggle other bands to ensure I get the best service possible?

idk why you said the honor doesn't get high marks 1080p ips is pretty dam good
tho I guess some `review sites`
having a 2 or 4k display on your phone does no good if the gpu can't drive it
it will look real pretty but real world performance will suffer
different phones vs different carriers e.g CDMA phone like the i545 verizon s4 can not be used on GSM carriers such as ATT and Tmobile
read here for more info on that http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2407896,00.asp
a unlocked bootloader grants you the ability to run custom roms and flash certain portions of the phone that are normally inaccessible
the bootloader has nothing todo with radio bands
the honor or any other factory unlocked phone should work on your carrier without issue
Thank you! I guess my only real requirement in the display is having one I can actually see outdoors! Amazing how poor the screen is on this old LG leon.
Maybe you can help me better understand how the bands are configured and/or locked on a phone? The reason I ask is the Verizon Galaxy S4 is technically capable of all bands that Tmobile uses yet I see poor functionality with it, indicating tome it is not picking up certain frequencies. I made the assumption the boot loader would be isolating the bands? Is this software controlled? Or not at all? Which would leave me wondering.
For reference, the Verizon S4 DOES work on Tmobile though. It holds 4GLTE signal but texts will not go out because I believe Tmobile is using 2G or 3G for that.
The way I assumed this worked is the phone is capable of a WIDE range of bands and frequencies, but the service provider would invoke only certain frequencies that they use?

if its holding lte then all you need todo is change the APN to point to t-mobiles servers (store should have offered todo this for you)
t mobile uses slightly differing frequencies depending on your area you are lucky enough to be in one of the area's that use the higher bands
instructions are here https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2090
this will not change the fact that you may or may not get data signal depending on where you are connecting too
I would install textra from the playstore and set it as your mms app it has some over-rides for the apn settings if it won't let you change it via the system UI
alt instructions use the`fast` for lte
http://www.4gtricks.com/2013/04/t-mobile-4g-apn-t-mobile-4g-apn-settings.html
Right now the S4 indicated locked to 4GLTE but signal is -90dbm, 50asu. I tested data and I am able to use it though it is slow. I, however, still cannot send an sms. I am able to edit settings for the APN but have verified all settings are per tmobile specs. Any ideas where to go from here?
In the network modes, I am able to chose, 1) global, 2)LTE/CDMA 3) LTE/GSM/UMTS
I have it on LTE/GSM/UMTS right now. IIRC, the GSM is the 2G/3G for sms and voice?
Is it possible that the I545 is trying to operate on the Verizon 750mhz instead of the 700mhz of Tmobile?

should tell you what band its connecting on
install textra and go into its options and enable the 't mobile fix'
OK, I loaded Textra and LTE recovery. I honestly am not certain of what I am looking at on the LTE app but looks like I am connecting to band 4 LTE. At that time, I could not and still cannot send a text. However, at some point, it switched over to a UMTS connection and I was able to fire off texts normally so I know my APN settings are right and there is something odd going on. Textra did nothing different and there is no setting for tmobile other than a wifi setting.
I have read many other people having this exact problem which hovers around those using a verizon S4 on tmobile and upgrading to 5.0 OS.
What I need to figure out, and maybe an area that would require another thread but I need to learn if I may need to reflash the modem to function properly on tmobile and if that can even be considered on an unrooted, boot loader phone? If not, what are the best options? Just dump the phone and get something else? I read of a few roots on the OC1 platform but not sure on that.
If I knew my efforts would work and I knew what I needed to do to fix this issue, I would. I almost just upgraded to the latest revision hoping for a patch in there but not sure I should do that if I want to root? Is OC1 and above all the same for rooting issues?
you don't even have to root to work around this. you can downgrade modem to MDK build. Then use QPST/QXDM to change item 6828 to value 4096
Sins07, I am very interested in the modem mods you suggest as I also came to the conclusion the modem is the issue.
Would I out of line to ask if you can dumb this down a little for a newbie? You mention downgrading the modem only and was not aware you could do that. Can you explain how this modem issue is occuring and how the modem mods will fix it?
TL;DR: When an MMI command fails, is that the fault of the phone (firmware), phone configuration, or carrier?
Have a LG G6 (unlocked/rooted), activated it on AT&T with no problem. Ported my T-Mo number over, also with no problem. Went to the call-forwarding settings menu to make sure forwarding was set up for Google Voice , and got "call settings error: service unavailable". Following the prompts from GV setup, tried instead the MMI commands ("**004*1<GVnumber>#") and got "call forwarding Connection problem or invalid MMI code".
Hours later- 2 on tech support with AT&T, and another two of scouring the web (and XDA-dev) and nothing seems to help.
Some references to the Pixel 5X simply state it can't be done, and AT&T support needs to set it (and pray it doesn't unset). Others try futzing with the "*#*#4636#*#* " menu, which is handily disabled on my phone. One referenced the APN config screen, and comparing my phone to AT&T's recommended options I made a slight change; still doesn't work but appears to take longer to fail. I've tried swapping between mobile modes (Global/CDMA/GSM), turning off "Enhanced LTE services", finding region.... no help.
Since I can find on AT&T's site the helpful n00b guide FOR THE G6 that shows the phone Call -> More -> Additional Settings menu working, I'm assuming the phone itself is capable, and something is misconfigured... but what?
Can anyone explain how to get more logging, details, or anything that could hint at how to get this to work?
Just wondering if you ever got this resolved? I have same phone same issue.
I eventually got it escalated to a supervisor- from the conversation, far beyond a canned response from a support page. They were very confident that it was a firmware issue- that LG screwed it up. Since I unlocked my bootloader the legit way, I no longer get upgrades.
I bought a One Plus 6 (which has the same sim and feature near parity) so I could use that phone while I flashed a custom ROM or even stock image to try to call AT&T on that bluff.
The good news is with stock firmware (after unlocking/rooting, but no changes otherwise) all the MMS commands work perfectly, as well as the GUI in settings. So... yeah... looks like AT&T's network is in the clear, at least under most circumstances.
Someday I'll get enough time to breathe and flash over this image with the newest upgrades, and hopefully it will work. I just can't speak to if it is in the Radio ROM (which I assume isn't published) or the Android package itself. The more senior folks here may be able to chime in on this.

And to be clear, the "work perfectly" was on the OnePlus, not the LG G6. The commands do seem to stick, though, as I can put the sim back in the LG and the call forwarding stuff stays in place.
Hey everybody,
So recently i bought this international unlocked Galaxy S9+ (SM-965F/DS Exynos processor) off Amazon and it's great, everything is fine with the one major exception being that at home my signal is pretty poor and i get extremely delayed text messages coming in and calls taking forever to dial out or failing to connect. Not a problem, i'll turn on Wi-Fi calling, right? Wrong, option isn't available, some detail: I'm in the US on T-Mobile, updated to the latest Pie OS update, i'm very tech-capable and used to do tier 2 tech support for Verizon. Long story short, I've tried everything in the book including FDR and fresh setup as well as clearing system cache etc. and it's looking like the ONLY solution to get Wi-Fi calling (and subsequently VoLTE that i didn't realize wasn't enabled until researching and checking myself) enabled is to flash the ROM with a T-Mobile OS. Unfortunately i'm coming up negative trying to find the firmware for this phone. Plenty of resources out there for the SM-965U(Snapdragon), but none for the SM-965F(Exynos) as of yet as far as i can tell (and before any ignorance jumps in here as i've seen on other threads, NO the SM-965U software will NOT work on this model phone as it runs a different processor, non-Snapdragon Exynos chipset)
So, that all being said, is anyone out there working on a fix for this, is it likely i'll ever get a fix for this, and/or is the fix already available and I've just completely missed it? Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'm currently researching the very same issue... So far i hypothesize , with no knowledge, that if it is rooted, you can then change the csc settings and configure it for TMO, thus enabling WiFi calling. If someone can confirm, that'd be great, otherwise i'm trudging slowly to verify.

Well i looked at this and it looks like a non-stock rom i'm sure wrought with problems that unfortunately is not helpful. My goal here is to have my phone work and continue to get standard updates with original and licensed (more or less) software and have it actually work. I'm not interested in a full OS replacement pre-loaded with a bunch of adblockers and other crap the designer thought would be useful, just want my standard features enabled and nothing else to change if at all possible. Also, if you believe my statement here is in error please explain, your one line really isn't very helpful, and nowhere on their website is there any description as to what tekhd detonator does / is supposed to do / what it will break. I'm certainly not risking bricking my phone when their own website says under all of its S9+ related material that it's for Snapdragon which the variant i have again doesn't use Snapdragon.

This is going to be a hassle trust me. even with the Snapdragon models from different CSCs VoLTE and Wifi Calling do not carry over. An ATT 965U would have to be reflashed with the TMobile CSC and USERDATA files to get access to TMobile features. U are trying to do this with an Exynos model. I think you would have to root and install a custom firmware that has the TMobile USERDATA embedded.
Good luck.
can the U1 be flashed to the verizon u firmware? i thought i read someone tried this, but suspected it didn't work because he had previously used the phone with verizon with the unlocked firmware...

You can flash the G965U onto the G965U1 and vice versa. It's been well documented that this will let us go from one carrier firmware to another as well as let us have the unbranded carrier firmware. The only catch to this is the bootloader version of the firmware your wanting to flash. The firmware one wishes to flash must have a bootloader version equal too (or greater then) what is currently on the phone.
If your trying to ask about flashing the U1 onto an exynos variant then the answer is definitely no. You can't flash firmware from a different model onto a different model.
Hey. I'm thinking about getting the Motorola Edge+ 2022 on T-Mobile, but I'd want to know what it's capable of on said network: since T-Mobile released Voice Over 5G not too long ago, can the phone successfully make a 5G call (not a VoLTE or EPS call), and can it also do carrier aggregation between band n71 and n41? Any help would be nice, thanks
Yes, I have Edge+ 2022 on T-Mobile.
You need to do a bit work to fully enable SA 5G
Now VoNR is on by default.
It can achieve N41 on SA
Mingkee can you provide some instructions on how to "do a bit of work" to enable these features? I'm also on TMO and want to ensure I'm getting the same capabilities.

Is there a AT&T code?
Anyone know the T-Mobile 8gb ram 512gb storage build number? I have the boost mobile variant and want to have a smooth transition over to metro, what can I say, metro is king here.
If you don't know how to look it up go to about phone scroll down to build number, Id really like to have the version of the factory moto build, either will work, thanks!

can you tell me the build number if its the 8gb version? boost put tons of junk on this thing, file would also help or link to zip that way I can drop it in the rsa cause Im already unlocked, there's just so much dish junk and carrier had it running on 3gpp trying to get rid of this, Im 99% sure I can already change my carrier but I want to rid my crippled device.

try RETUS (unlocked) ROM
Warning: flash with different ROM with your own risk

I recently also purchased and unlocked boost mobile variant of edge plus 2022. Have you had any lucky flashing the retail US rom?
No I can't get any specifics on the factory rom so I just shut off the boost mobile apps and put it on Metro by T-Mobile, got in the hidden menu and changed some things here and there, I noob nerfed it... If I had the rom that I needed then I'd try to finish it but there's like 10 different roms on EF and apparently I don't know the lingo to get the factory rom, the admins over there are not trying to help anyone, I messaged one that acted like he worked for boost mobile.
We need step by step lol. I'm mainly concerned about slow to no update at all since it's in dish channel even though our phones are network unlocked.

My new, unlocked Edge+ that I am planning on activating on T-M is arriving this weekend.
If you can pop in a sim and it's not asking for a code go through the apps and disable carrier app, Network companion and all boost overlay apps by turning off the open by default switches, dial *#*#4636#*#* go to NR options from the top option and pick auto, in my are it switches from sa to nsa, depending on the carrier you might want to make sure your carrier is using NR for calls, make sure its not saying Rcc in error, with Metro you can use ipv6 basic sim settings or T-Mobile apn in settings, under the 4636 hidden menu set the network from NR, LTE, Wcdma to NR,LTE,gsm, wcdma or unknown. Basically Unknown is the best option because if you switch carriers it will pick the correct configuration, if said new carrier uses LTE for voice calls it might be needed to disable VoNR so your not burning data on calls, at this point my ram is at 3 or 4 instead of 5 with the boost settings, rcs chats are registered and my signal is maxed out using 5GUC. It just takes some research and it can be run perfectly on the crappy boost firmware, it just takes some time to work with. If you get stuck make sure you are backing up everything and if you have problems do a wipe from the fast boot and start over. Look up and do your research on the stuff you turn off, virus total might show you some apps not being utilized. This is the best I can do at this point.

Maybe a build# would help to be added to this thread, most ppl will probably use that build for the best performance. I'd appreciate it even though my boost firmware is up and working on Metro I haven't got a security update since 2/23 all these comments on settings I've made are going to apply to the U.S. networks.

Ebay seller had bought it as a new Boost phone; and when they unlocked it, still claiming it was new, they started the clock at Motorola as of March. So when I got it, I immediately checked to see if I could add Accidental Damage; but upon finding that the 12 month warranty would expire in March 2024, and I couldn't add the extra insurance, I immediately requested/was approved for a return. So I'm back on the market...for a new Edge+ 2022.

That's a tough break, I appreciate the update, I activated on Metro but the Metro rep claims running the T-Mobile apn settings will send me the new updates but I have none up to this date. Usually fota updates are sent at night so hopefully overnight I might receive one, it does say dish channel on mine as well but all of the boost overlay system extensions have been turned off and the matching settings are turned on from another Metro/T-Mobile phone I have, I feel like something in the actual boost firmware is blocking the updates because dish is using some shady public networks on these phones, I'm not sure if it's to support other phones or what but my data seems to be correct so I don't think my phone has any attachments to dish/boost. If I get updates I will put notification to the thread. If you want to run on T-Mobile just get the unlock code from boost because considering you purchased the phone used under U.S. law their unlocking policy does NOT apply to used phones, that is how I got my unlock code to switch to Metro and using T-Mobile apn settings. Hope this helps like I said will update if I'm updated.
I reached out to another seller (selling 10 fons) on Ebay; and based upon what they said, and description of two other "new and unlocked" Edge+s, it seems like all of them at good prices are sourced from Boost. I think I'm going to get one directly from Moto.
Keep me updated on the build number, it seems no one knows the factory build. Thanks

It's going to depend on what area you're in, I'd write them all down and just put them all in, it's only going to pick up the ones that are in the sim I'm 90% sure, then if it doesn't pick up SA then you'll take your band list you disabled and simply re-enable them. My phone actually works better on a speed test with NSA, with the latest merging networks it seems carriers might be switching to NSA unless your on Att or Verizon your device is probably not going to pick up SA, it's a way overhyped network choice IMO, my home is brick and when standing in the middle of it NSA goes in and out and it's only 1300sqft, I can't see SA making it through brick, my advise is if your picking up a good NSA signal just use it as lame as it sounds. My device opens pages quicker than a kid abusing a book at the library.
Hi, I am new to Sony family and bought used III which mightve been a Mistake.
I never see the signal having all bars full. It also reports values around 100dbm.
I have not been making calls really but I can see the reception is worse than with my old Xiaomi 9, same for 4g. Sometimes it drops and only restart fixes it.
Running dualsim, different carriers. Did network config restarts etc.
Lets assume it is sw problem. Could it be bad non-eu stock rom? How do I check?
I might immediatelly go with custom rom, maybe on android 12 just to see if it works better. Any suggestions? I just dont think factory reset or flashing stock is gonna fix it easily and I am open to experiments as long as the system and mainly signal reception is stable because next stop is trashbin really. The phone is overall great, I just did not expect phones having such problems nowadays.
I've seen the same, especially if I go underground for a few minutes - the phone can't reconnect unless I restart it or switch on and off the airplane mode.
But apart from that I have a pretty stable connection, no matter what the bars show.
My uneducated guess is power savings affect the signal strenght.
Never had problems during calls, no matter if driving or stationary

As A current Metro by T-mobile sales rep, and self proclaimed cell phone guru, some carriers require a phone to be registered on your account for it to fully work, even if the phone on paper has all the supported bands of said carrier. so this could be the problem, and if it's a software problem you can simply reinstall the correct firmware for your region and device and see if that fixes the issue, you could also try a different region but same device model number...

I have not really tested it much in such environment like underground. The signal mostly stays ok, not full at all but the connection works tho. I had only like 2-3 restarts/week due to connection reporting only EDGE available (still I couldnt browse anything) and both sim signals showed a problem (exlamation mark), I think it could have been caused by worse reception conditions and it eventually stopped working at all.

I dont see registration being a requirement here in EU. These are prepaid simcards, no binding to a device, no contract and such.
I dont know if its software problem. After little bit of Googling I came to a conclusion that Sony does indeed have problem with signal reception no matter what is the cause. To me it seems it could be SW related. Question is if flashing stock rom is the way to go or maybe using a custom rom as daily driver?

What os/rom do you have? Have you had any success on making the reception better, more stable? Did custom rom help with that anyhow?

In the states Metro by T-Mobile is a prepaid company that uses T-Mobile's network, but they specifically require your current device to be on your account to make sure they can give you the correct info on why your phone isn't working correctly. And some times to send the correct configuration file to your device. But in your specific case i would say go the firmware route and see if that fixes it before calling the carrier to see if there's a config file or something similar they need to send.

Thanks for the explanation. I chose the FW route, testing AlphaDroid as of now. So far so good. Reception already looks better so I will stick to this rom for now and see how it performs.

Just a tip, you might wanna force 4G even on custom ROMs, I am running same config as you double sim and diff carriers but i get better result by forcing LTE Only on my main data SIM.

I have a quick update for you regarding my devices connectivity problems
I reflashed the latest global firmware, this overrides the modem 5g configs that you find on all of the 5g enabling guides.
immediately my reception AND my phone switching between 3G, 4g 4g+ etc was better. Im not saying im magically getting full bars, but its improved substantially on top of switching between networks when travelling etc is instantly now. Instead of me having to enable flight mode to reset my network every time.
i will try flash a custom rom and see if the reception stays fine
only had problems after trying to enable 5g and follow the guides.
edit: spelling

Cool, thanks for the info. What is the version of that global fw?
I had only one network disconnect on AlphaDroid but it managed to fix itself within minutes. Still the display seems bit irresponsive to touches at times, baterry drain is not the best and also call quality does not seem to be the best. So I am considering switching to global or maybe different custom. Ofc it could be just my device.

You should start using 120Hz if it feels slow (go into QS settings and get the refresh rate toggle from there), also enable High polling rate from Settings > Display for better responsiveness, also if you're rooted/using Shizuku you should try https://github.com/kyujin-cho/pixel-volte-patch/releases it may unlock some SIM options that may improve your call quality.

6.1.2.A.0.447 was what I upgraded too
Honestly, I don’t have a single practical use case for my phone where i need 5g enabled, so it’s really not a deal breaker for me to not have that enabled. 4g+ is still pretty quick especially for my use case. If you want volte & vowifi I recommend magisk + zygisk so you can use banking apps. Works well for me and call quality is fantastic
edit: I think I should note i did a full clean flash, flashing all and wiping all data on the phone. It’s been a few days and signal noticeably better.
edit 2: spelling (damn autocorrect)
