Y6S, how to handle? - Huawei Y6 Questions & Answers

Good evening,
I've just bought Huawei Y6S, model code JAT-L41 (i think it's shared with Honor 8A).
Can't find any proper and specific guide or subforum FIR this device, should i follow any other listed for a regular y6 model?
Thanks in Advance

Just got my hands on one as well (sold in UK) and been wondering around ever since about custom roms for this model, seems its not very popular at the moment

[Q] CyanogenMod-Friendly Phone

Hi everyone!
Some time ago I bought my current device (SGs3 i9300) and unfortunately I discovered too late that the international version was absolutely not CM-fliendly because of the exynos cpu.
So now I'm selling it and I want to buy a device absolutely CM-compatible.
I have already identified 2 device within my budget that are officialy supported:
LG Optimus 4X HD
and
Sony Xperia T
What, in your opinion, is the best supported device?
If they are both perfectly supported, between them what's the best?
Is there another good phone in the same price range that i'm missing?
PS I live in europe so i need a device that I can find here.
Thank you to everyone!
Get a nexus device instead of either of those you mentioned.

Qualcomm processors is your best bet, no matter which phone... Just make sure it's a new one...

[Q] Eastcom M3

Hi there, a friend of mine has got himself this Eastcom M3 Dual SIM mobile phone from China on eBay (that's a big mistake in my opinion) anyway, the phone has Kitkat but it just looks dodgy... The boot-loader is all in Chinese too. The actually design looks like a rip-off from Nokia Lumia's early devices.
I have a HTC One M7, is there a way to flash the firmware then instal a European ROM into the M3 to look like the M7 software? Ive found this ROM http://www.needrom.com/download/alps-m3/ but not entirely sure if its right or what to do with it.
Anyone ever had this phone and same / similar problems? i have ADB & Fastboot tools (SDK) etc ..
Thanks for any help in advance, nice one!
Tip to my friend: Don't buy phones from China on eBay!!

questions related local variant

hey every one , i got my device two weeks ago , i bought it in egypt and sells as huawei GR5. no honor branding on box or the back of the device . i assumed at first that both devices are identical and the only difference is branding name .
but i noticed on multiple occasion that the device is strangely slow specially compared to youtube videos and benchmarks . and its number is kII-l21 not kw-l21 . also the cpu doesn't seem to be 616 .
so i was wondering if this device would receive marshmallow update ? can i use custom roms in the future that is devolped for US devices ?
Here in my country, we have two seperate phones, one going as honor 5x and other gr5, so they're both definitely different...
Also that antutu is less than typical 5x which gets around 38k

I live in Pakistan.... And i also was baffled by the choice between gr5 and 5x.... I made the choice based on the model number on the back of the box... I knew i should go for kiw L21....

I just looked at the GR5 in Huawei store in fortune town bangkok, it has the 616 chipset as confirmed by staff & on device spec details, looks pretty much same besides some radio frequency difference, solid device for 8,150Baht (lowest price I found) but 8,450 is more common pricing. Camera seemed ok from testing in shop, it had 5.1.1 android so had an update which may have some huawei software optimisation !
Fingerprint sensor is very good & also enables easy opening & closing of notifications when unlocked & control panel when on lock screen which useful idea, has double tap to wake too .
Bought gr5 (KII-L21) on 13 march ( just 5 days for now) by trusting gsmarena, now confused if this won't compatible with developments for 5X (KIW series)
Can anyone please confirm will it be compatible or not?
And
Where can I find the actual deferences between the two models?
I doubt kiw developments will be direct compatible, some tweaks may be but roms etc will need tweaking for kii. kiw certainly going be better unofficial supported device ...

Huawei Mediapad T2 10.0 pro custom ROM/Support in any way?

So I just got this tablet as a cheap add on to my phone contract with EE in the UK. I've searched the internet and the XDA forums and can't find a specific place where any developers working on ROMs in the same way I have had with all of my Samsung phones in the past.
Is there any hope for something like linage 14.1 or just a stock 6.0 or 7.0 ROM for this tablet with TWRP?
I can see that it has a Snapdragon 615. Is there something about this that's hard to develop for or is it just that not many people have the tablet?
Any respone would be helpful. Thanks!
I join in here. Same situation for me.

SUGGESTION: Best cheap android phone with custom rom and working camera+radios

Hi All,
I'm an engineer looking to upgrade a product which uses an old Altel smartphone. I'm experienced in Unlocking and flashing. I have already done a search, but now in 2020, there may be new info.
Looking for suggestions for the best CHEAP android phone which has good custom ROM support for android 7+ (ish).
I need to use the back camera, and connect via wifi, bluetooth, or Cellular Data. It will be tested in the US, but may benefit from support for many globally common 3g and 4g bands.
One last thing. Would love to find something I can still buy a few dozen of NEW, or at least MFG REFURB.
Can anyone suggest suitable phones? So far, been considering late nexus line and early pixel line, knowing they're flash unlockable.
Thank you for reading! Apologies if I hit the wrong section of the forum.

There are no *NEW* cheap phones that have custom ROM support unfortunately. But used phone are an option : ) If you want official ROM support (Even to this day!), you can get a Samsung Galaxy S4 for 50$, an S5, Note 3 (Android 9 - 10 support!).
If you want a used phone at 100-150$, you can get a A5 2017, Google Pixel 1, Nexus 6 (Don't buy the 6p)
If you want to get a Brand new phone: Moto G7 and G6 Plus (200-250$). (Theese phones have a more complicated process of modding)
You can check the Lineage OS download Page here: https://download.lineageos.org/ Theese are all of the supported devices.
If you don't want to have any difficulties, you can get a Samsung but be careful with the variants! Get the international or Canadian variant because if you get a US variant, there are no methods of unlocking the device (except for the S5 and less) You can also get the Google Pixel, but do not buy the US variant. Same for the nexus devices...
Your knowledge and help are much appreciated.
Can you offer advice on USB OTG Compatibility with various phones on Lineage? I've had mixed results in the past with stock ROMs.

All of the phones I mentioned have OTG capability
Probably almost all phone supported by lineage have OTG. Don't worry about that.

I have 2 Samsung Galaxy S3 ( circa 2012 ) and while they are far from new, they are great phones to play around with.
I am far from experienced, but I have enjoyed flashing Custom ROM's , from CyanogenMod, thru various versions of Lineage, and now CrDroid. The newest O/S that I flashed is CrDroid 3.8.9 ( based on Android 7.1.2 - I think! ). Runs great. Stable. Long battery life. Ran ( 'right out of the box' ) without any need to install Gapps.
The nice thing is the Samsung Galaxy S3 is so darn abundant. Seems that everybody has one collecting dust in a drawer. And that means they are cheap ( as in give it away ). All the Samsung Galaxy S3 came with unlocked bootloader ( I think that is the term ) except for the Verizon model.
Icing on the cake is, a fellow from Montreal, alexenferman, is the genious authour of the CrDroid Custom ROM.
