I received my Galaxy Tab S7+ and much to my dismay - Galaxy Themes doesn't work. Hell, it doesn't even exist on our tablets. I did not know this prior to purchasing the tablet.
I have grown very fond of using Hex themes to modify my OneUI to have AOSP icons and what not on my Samsung phones and was hoping to do the same to my Tab S7+. When I download the actual .apk file from Sammobile and installed it, I pretty much got nowhere as when I click on the app it just takes me to the apps permissions.
Now, I had no real intention of rooting this tablet as I just didn't need to, but this would legitimately qualify as a reason to obtain root. Thus, my question being - is it possible to somehow install Samsung's Galaxy Themes app and have it work via root? Has anyone had success in somehow theming their Samsung tablet?
I'm loving the tablet, but absolutely despise the boring blue theme and certain aspects of the notification shade that I change with hex themes/galaxy themes.
Cheers!
I use the Nova Launcher instead. So I can use the icon set of my choice.
I'll believe, that root doesn't help in this case

It's not the stock launcher icons that bother me, oddly enough, it's the quick setting icons, quick settings colour, notification divider, etc. things that can't be changed with a launcher.
I tried using the app named One Shade by TreyDev but there are bugs so its none too enjoyable.
I am no expert, but rooting will not help. You need to have a Galaxy phone ROM ported over that supports theming. I own the Note Pro 12.2 LTE and I am running the ported Note 7 ROM with theme support and I am loving it. Relax, it is a new device and someone will surely port a ROM over that supports theming.
Use Goodlock to change things like the quick settings.

In developer options, you can change icon shape and quick setting accent color.

Hey,
I was wondering if it was possible to install stock ICS on the Galaxy S 3, while keeping new useful Samsung's functionalities (S-Beam, All Share Play, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Smart Alert, Tap to Top, Popup Play, S-Voice, …).
Actually, I would like to feel I'm on ICS on my GS3, and not on a Gingerbread-styled TouchWiz. I know I could install a third party launcher, but it customizes only the launcher, and not the status bar or the Settings for example.
Thanks !
CM-Zoom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698273 is probably the closest ROM out there atm, its Samsung ROM with a bunch of Cyanogen stuff included.
I dont know of any AOSP-based ROMs that can run the Samsung app suite yet.

Most Samsung features depend on the TW framework. So few things will probably never work on AOSP based roms. However, for a lot of the features you named, there are alternatives. For instance, pop up play isn't a Samsung specific feature. But overall, what you're asking for will not work. Maybe in time, but I wouldn't get your hopes up...
Mmmh...
Unfortunately, I am not so surprised by your answers
And what about theming ? Is it possible to create a theme like this one and install it on the original Samsung ROM ?

Why don't you use that theme?

It's written "The Theme is just for deodexed Rom's and is tested on Omega V3-V5!". Is the stock Samsung ROM deodexed ? Even if I am a developer, I dont know much about Android development
If it turns out to be deodexed, I could adapt his project to my needs (as said before, I don't know too much but it's a good way to learn !)
Oh, and forgot something in my initial post :
What bothers me in TouchWiz is replaced apps like Calendar and Contacts. This cannot be solved by theming. Is it possible to install these separately ?
I know I am a little picky and want the best of the two worlds, but isn't that the strength of Android ?

You can install any replacement app you want. Some of them might rely on a certain framework though (e.g. Cyanogenmod) and might not work. But any replacement app from the Play Store should be fine.

Of course, but what about stock ICS applications I am used to use ? Isn't it possible to "extract" them from original ICS ?
ICS (afaik) requires vendors to include the original framework and theming so that apps don't break on heavily modified phones.
The goo.im stock apps should work, but create a nandroid backup before attempting to flash it through CWM
http://goo.im/gapps
You most likely want the following:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Ok. So ICSwiz + goo.im apps should do the trick.
I won't try it right now due to a busy schedule, but maybe in one week or so.
I will post it there my results, in case anyone is interested.
Thanks for your replies

Download the CM9 Rom and replace the desired apps in /system/app.
Make sure you remove the samsung counterpart, e.g. if you want the original calendar, remove SecCalendar (or something) and calendarprovider, add original calendar and calendarprovider.
Don't be stupid and only replace what you really want!
THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR PHONE, CONTACTS AND DOWNLOAD!
There are many threads where they offer a black google apps pack, search for yourself if interested.
Hi all, quick question.
Does anyone know can I make the status bar on my Galaxy S4 look like the status bar did on the Nexus 7, Nexus 5, Nexus 4, etc.. when they ran Android 4.3? I really like the blue UI elements and would like to get that UI on my GS4.
My Galaxy S4 is currently rooted on 4.3. Stock ROM, bootloader, etc...
Is this mod a simple .apk installation, or something far more complex?
I have a background in theming and modifying UI elements in iOS (as I was an avid iPhone user from 2008 to mid-2013), but this is my first time wanting to modify the looks of my Android device. Any help, links, or guidance is much appreciated!
I've attached a screenshot of my device's lockscreen with white status bar icons, and I've also attached an screenshot from a Nexus device with the blue UI elements that I'm desiring.
I use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 with Wanam https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.xposed.

Yes definitely grab wanam. You can do what you want, actually mine looks kinda like what you're going for, and its really easy to do.

Takes some playing around but you can get it there.. Here's mine
Edit
Tried uploading a similar pic as far as my notification panel goes but wouldn't let me..

Mine came with it now, so i was just wondering what would happen if i were to save those APK's (theres touchwiz itself, touchwiz launcher i think, maybe a couple others) to apply on top of a stock android OS??
Is that possible at all? It would be 4.0.4 style, but that doesnt bother me at all. if its possible that is.

Well, yes you can put your touchwiz.apk to other OS, what its going to do is its going to make you device look like samsung device. These are the launchers used to customize the look of the whole ecosystem and that's is the major reason why people drives away from iOS to the Android ecosystem try using the touchwiz launcher and see your device transform onto samsung.

Please do your research before replying.
No it will not work as they need the base touchwiz framework to work properly which stock google doesn't have.
This is the price you pay for running a custom aosp based ROM.

No because the frameworks control the whole OS. They are not cross compatible

Hmm, in that case, are there mods available to make every part of the stock OS look like the touchwiz OS, including the notification area?? Thats gotta be my biggest thing that i hate about stock. I love the compact 1 page aspect of the touchwiz version.
I know theres a theme for touchwiz, i tried it on another device. but all it changed was the main screens. settings and notification areas stayed stock. That was a total bummer, i thought i found my solution right there...

Some have a notification setting for the compact tiles but not completely like touch Wiz. I would either get used to not having them or use a stock based ROM. To be honest I would get used to bot having them as with the next update the whole thing is changing again.

Well the one i tried playing with the settings with is the moto G... but there are practically NO customization settings, at all. wallpaper and ringtones were all i was able to find. no notification bar settings, no compact, no nothing.
Im still using my ICS with no issues... im more thinking ahead for the future, will possibly set a couple of roms aside to try. Its gonna take alot to get used to the much uglier notification area though... maybe ill never have to!
Is it possible to change the theme to dark. It's really annoying than Samsung didn't allow note 4 users this is a software only. IPhone would have... Samsung must really start to improve update policy.
You should probably tell that to Sammy.
Or buy an iPhone, since you can customize it so much #NOT

What the... does the iPhone has to do with a dark theme? As far as I know, there's no option to change iOS's UI to black, (you can enable negative colors, same as with your Note 4). Not even Google allowed to switch to a dark theme, this option was introduced in Android 6.0 released less than one week ago.. So you may want:
1) Wait until Android 6.0 gets released by Samsung
2) Root your phone, install a Note 5 rom and use the Themes App.
3) Root your phone, install Xposed, and install Holo Themer module, then you can set any app you want to dark mode.
Cheers!
To clarify my reference to the iphone ? I believe any software improvements or enhancements subject to hardware capability are automatically given to older models… I think Samsung should have given us or at least offered it to us for a small fee. Can't root yet as still under warrenty. But thanks
I've been looking for a way to replace the lollipop notification pulldown with the one from the old holo systemui (the one with the toggles on a separate page, e.g. on jellybean). I'm currently running rooted CM13 on this phone.
I know some people prefer the new design, but I like the old one better. Would it be possible to do this, short of using CM11? I haven't seen anything anywhere similar to this.
Thanks

Uh, this is quite improbable. Worth's more downgrading to some ROM which uses Holo. You can also dual boot your phone xD
